Amidst Tragedy, an Old Friend Saves the Day

Sucre, yay! Prison Break by Bill Matlock/Fox
Episode Recap: "Good Fences" (Oct. 8, 2007)

Now, we all know. The unsettling secret is out.

It's hard to find a felt-tip pen in a Panamanian prison.

Oh, and Sara's head was in the box. Sara's head, to be clear, but not Sarah's (as in Sarah Wayne Callies). I tend to think she didn't return to work to have a cast made of her melon. Ergo, why it looked not so much like Sara but more like one of those premium "living doll" sex toys you see on HBO's Sexcetera.

But Lincoln said, "Sara..." as he dared a look inside the box, so it must be her.

What do we think of Lincoln's decision to spare Michael the grisly truth? Dare we call him selfish, because after all, were Mikey to know Sara is dead, he might lose the drive to escape, and thus sign LJ's death certificate. But one could argue that Michael would be even more motivated, so he could throttle Susan B. Anthony all the quicker.

Instead, Michael is in full breakout-planning mode, craftily using a chintzy non-gold cross to short the juice, gain access to the outside power lines, and thus reboot the electrified fence. All for the purpose of... heating the so-the-corpses-don't-stink spray into a corrosive.

Funny how being a metropolitan engineer schools one in how to convert arcane products into acid.

Shifting gears: Mahone is cuckoo for cocoa puffs. Ausiello tipped me off that Haywire would be putting in an appearance, though he didn't say how. That is not the vision I want haunting me/egging me on when the marbles start getting lost.

Is Susan B. starting to soften up a bit? Not that we much care, but she seemed to be a touch compassionate to Linc. I suspect we have an "I was forced to be a 'soldier' because of [insert sob story here]" excuse coming up. I must admit, she holds a gun well, and yes, that's kinda hot. The Yasmine Bleeth thing still bugs me though.

Shifting gears to the rest of the gang.... I love seeing T-Bag scheme and plot and rise in Lechero's ranks by any means necessary. Oh, and you know what was a really nice touch? Bellick recounting to patron how Michael pulled the same, "I need some guys and shovels" ploy back in Chicago. That reference truly brought back memories — and better yet, Bellick had a point.

Lastly, can we talk about Lechero? The dude has cable. Cable. In the worst-of-the-worst prisons. But I will forgive that leap because I think the point they are trying to make is that Sona's worst punishment is being forced to watch soccer.

A few parting bullets:
• Bellick referring to Sona as "taco hell"
• Whistler and Sofia's scenes together? Still zzzzzzzzz.
• Bellick to Mahone, "Yeah, and I'm just single because I'm choosy."
• Whistler re: Mahone: "He's looking about as stable as a three-legged chair."
• Lechero's super-smoky coffee there.... What was that, a dry ice latte?!

In the end, great "comeback" — Sucre setting aside his coffee-bean-harvesting plan to help his Fox River homies bust out Michael.

I was cheering in my chair.

Now go to the Ausiello Report for the inside story on the whole box thing, and what it means for Sara and Sarah.

To go behind the scenes (and behind bars) with the cast, tune into TV Guide Network's inFANity: Prison Break; October 10 at 9pm/ET.

POLL: Will you stop watching Prison Break because of what they did to Sara? Vote here.

Holy Crap!! Actually, I knew that Sara was what was in the box. Poor Michael. Poor Lincoln for discovering the box. What a way to open the show.

Haywire? Alex is really cracking up now. I read that he was going to have some help from someone that we haven't really seen much of since last season ... but Haywire?? Guilty conscious, or just withdrawal?

"That's not what I asked for." "But it's black!" ... "Keep looking." You tell him Michael. I love that serious mood of his.

But a knife to the space between his eyes ... back off Alex!!

That lady who is giving orders to Lincoln is really a bully. But when she killed the grave digger, I thought that she's just crazy. Guess she'll do anything now.

Sucre walking in was priceless for Michael ... but when Lincoln said that he found someone who needed cash, I guessed that it was him. Good ol' Sucre.

Ugh ... Poor Bellick. Don't go spreading rumors unless you can back it up. OUCH!! That man means business.

I won't be posting next week. Perhaps not for another week after that. No computer. I may not be able to watch Prison Break either **GASP** ... I look forward to catching up with all of your blogs for the next 2 episodes as soon as I can.
Be safe Michael. They can't kill you, because you're the star of the show.

Well I was almost ready to break out of "Prison", but tonight pulled me back in. Very good episode!!

Sara could still come back if she wanted to because that witch with a capital "B" could have just had a form made---I'm sure Linc didn't examine it!!! YIKES!!

I'm thinking the heck with Whistler and Sofia--what about Sofia and Sucre and by the way--kudos to Sucre for not leaving his friends!

I noticed that T-Bag even had to cringe at the hot coffee on Bellick's back---I think they should have just fed him to the beautician!!!

AND finally, William Fitchner (Mahone) is so good at any part he's given. I really liked him in "Invasion". Glad he invaded "Prison Break".

Memorial Service are in order >>>>
How sad that the Producers of this show let their greed overcome them.
They tried to cheat Sarah out of a whole seasons pay and she said , i dont think so, Goodbye, and I dont blame her. They had a wonderful show,I have never missed an episode, I have season 1&2on dvd.I have a PB coffee mug, I turned alot of people onto the show, I WAS a big fan.I have waited 3 seasons to see Michael and Sarah get together, and now what exactly would the point be for me to watch this show anymore? I should have realized when they killed off Robin Tunney, that the producers have no respect for the fans, nor does it seem they have any respect for women in general.I do feel bad for Wentworth, Dominic, Amaurey, William, and Robert, because they are wonderful actors and deserved better as did the fans. I will not watch it again, and I think alot of fans will feel this way. Obviously they just feel like women are expendable! Well producers enjoy your cash while you can cause I think you've reuined this money train.

I can't believe that Susan B. Anthony actually tried to justify cutting off Sara's head. I really hope Michael gets revenge on her. Or maybe Lincoln can kidnap her family and give her back that "soldiers" speech.

I have to agree with everthing that SusieQ1701 said. I feel sorry for the rest of the actors. I hope Fox gets what is coming to them. I just can't watch PB anymore- My heart is broken..:O(

Before the show, I debated not watching it live. The pilot had potential but the last couple of eps were just...lacking. Tonight's episode was really good though. I hope they can keep building off it.

I'm still not buying this Susan character. That whole soldiers speech was really lame. Up until she shot up that gravedigger, she was just allll (forced) talk. I thought she came off looking scared squeezing off them bullets.

I like Sofia. Not so much with Whistler since we know next to nothing about those two. It was good seeing her and Linc work together.

I think Haywire got more screentime DEAD than he ever did when he was alive! I have never really been that invested in the love story between Sara and Micheal so it doesn't really bother me that she has been killed off. It does add to the drama, though. I can imagine that Micheal will be pretty pissed when he finds out, especially that Linc didn't bother to tell him. And shouldn't they be worried that Mahone, Bellick, or T bag will see Sucre and rat on him. Well Bellick may not say anything but I could see the others spoiling the plans like that.

p.s. I will never see coffee in the same way again. "cringe"

Well I had a feeling that would be Sara's head in the box. By the way that Linc acted it couldn't of been LJ. But they sure did take their sweet time to getting to what was in the box. I know it builds tension....but I screaming at my tv the whole time saying " show us what's in the freaking box already!"

Anyway, on to Lechero...how in the world was he able to get in charge of Sona? He has access to a cell phone, cable, a hooker, a coffee maker, and much more. Plus I'm wondering what he did to land in what Bellick refers to "Taco Hell"? That would be interesting to see.

So glad that Sucre decided to stay and help Mike to break out of Prison. I knew that was him who Linc was talking about. I was also cheering when they showed Sucre's cute face at Sona.

Poor Bellick, first he was humiliated by walking around in his dirty underwear, and now he had hot coffee poured on his back. Next time keep your mouth shut.

I'm glad that we got to see Haywire. But only to mess with Mahone's guilty conscious. I hope we get to see him again, whenever Mahone is cracking up.

I agree with everyone about Whistler and Sofia relationship. SNORE!!

I agree with you trachgirl about the love story between Michael and Sara....I could careless about it. I'm not watching this show because of the chemistry between Michael and Sara, I'm watching it cause of the action, and the hot guys Mike, Linc, and Sucre. LOL! If I wanted a love story I would continue to watch Passions(if I had DTV).

I also loved the lines of.... Bellick to Mahone, "Yeah, and I'm just single because I'm choosy."
Whistler re: Mahone: "He's looking about as stable as a three-legged chair."
They had me cracking up.

And to SusieQ1701 and Aileen, too bad you guys are missing out on a good show. But I have a feeling you 2 would be back.

Okay raise your hands..how many thought the grave digger was going to be used to dig a hole under a grave??? (My hand is now raised)..but melting steel instead...COOL>>..

Really dreading (and looking forward to) the scene when Linc tells Micheal about Sara. Should be a very powerful scene with these 2 actors..

I think the people who say they'll stop watching the show because Sara is dead are fooling themselves. I liked the relationship, but it's hardly the reason I watch the show. You know you'll keep watching!

I've just stopped being invested in this show. I had been teetering along for a while, unable to completely suspend my disbelief, and Sara's death just pushed me over. Not that I was that invested in the couplehood per se, but I liked her as a character.

However, I did like seeing Haywire again, in whatever fashion, and I like that he's 'there' as Mahone unravels. But despite all that I just don't think I'll be sticking with the show regularly anymore.

Yeah, while it would have been nice if Sara lived, I don't watch the show just to see Sara-Michael hook up.

Last night episode was good. I still wonder how it will play out by season's end.

I don't really care that Sarah was killed off, but I'm not liking how dark the show is this year - especially for an 8pm show. The stolen "head in a box" scene from 7 was a bit much - they could have said it was Sarah without showing the actual head.
