You know I was thinking today that I was hoping Jon Stewart would come back. I liked the job he did last year. He knows how to make fun of himself and everyone else as well.

little red,
Sorry, to burst your bubble here, but Jon Stewart did not host the Oscars last year. That special honor went to the multi-talented Ellen DeGeneres who gave an awesome, kick-ass job as a host.
I admit I like Mr. Stewart, too, but I was really hoping to see Ms. DeGeneres get the opportunity again. She had some classic moments with the Al Gore incident as well as vacuuming the carpet among many others.
By the way, does anyone out there know whatever happened to Ellen's movie version of Oh, God? Was it canned? Was it ever made? The original featured George Burns as God.
Also, I wonder if the presenter for "Best Picture" is in this list. Does anyone care to place some bets as to who it will be, either from this list or someone not listed? In most cases no one knows until that final moment of the night. Give me some time to think (a day), and I will tell you mine.
If anyone wants to discuss other historical Oscar moments, then please email me at todd670929@msn.com. I immensely enjoy watching the Oscars every year. This year should be very exciting. I do not see any favorites in any of the categories, especially in the "Best Picture" category. Maybe Juno will pull a huuuuuge upset here.

Why is Miley Cyrus presenting? It always amazes me how some people with no talent go so far. If I have to hear her non-singing voice one more time I'll explode. At least she won't be singing at the Oscars.

I think the reason Miley is presenting is because the Oscars have a contract to run on ABC network and ABC network is owned by Disney; Miley's show is on the Disney channel.
Plus she is a popular performer right now. She will be on the Barbara Walters special before the Oscars. She may actually bring a younger audience to watch the show = more viewers.
My surprise is that this is the 80th Oscars and there aren't any of the good older actors there ... such as Jack Nicholson, Rober Deniro, Al Pacino .. etc.

So true, Olivia de Haviallnad and her sister Joan Fontaine are still alive. How about honoring are great film stars from the golden age, without them movies just wouldn't be movies if you get my meaning. Peter O'Toole, Lauren Bacall, Shirley Jones, Debbie Reynolds, Elizabeth Taylor, Cyd Charisse who I believe is still alive, a few more. I'm hoping to see them honor the great stars like Marlon Brando, Viven Leigh, Clark Gable, Better Davies, Norma Shearer, Judy Garland, Joan Crawford, I could go on and on. After 80's years, it should be memorable.

I'm not really sure why Miley is presenting either, but maybe it's because the film of her concert is doing huge numbers at the box office right now. Ka-ching!
