December 12, 2006: Gala Gallardo (Season 4 Finale)
I don't know about you, but unlike last year's Carver-involved finale, I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's season finale and its ending with Christian surprisingly joining Sean in L.A. And I, of course, will tell you just why I enjoyed it:
Bye-bye, Escobar, it's been nice knowing ya: I was overjoyed that Escobar was finally killed, and not by Liz. For a brief moment, I really thought Liz was going to pull the trigger. It would've been a good way to get revenge on the person responsible for her lack of a kidney. But having Escobar's wife Gala (Idalis DeLeon) convince Liz to put the gun down and then taking the gun and shooting Escobar to death made more sense. Gala married Escobar to protect her children, not because she was madly in love with him. More on the fabulous Idalis later.
No evidence: The way Christian, Sean and Liz disposed of Escobar's body was quite appropriate. Feeding him to an alligator by wrapping him up and tying a bunch of meat to his entire body — just like Christian and Sean did with Silvio Perez's dead body — was perfect. Liz: "I'm gonna need a raise, Christian. Big raise."
No more Michelle: Well, at least not in Christian's love life, now that he left her behind. I like Sanaa Lathan as an actress, and she's lovely to look at, but the Michelle character was way too unappealing and became annoying. You knew that as soon as she attempted to perform Gala's surgery after Christian and Sean refused, Michelle's jig was up. And don't even get me started on the organ-stealing. Carving of any kind, besides plastic surgery-related carving and maybe carving pumpkins at Halloween, needs to be outlawed on this show. Thanks.
Matt finally picked up the clue phone: I loved that Matt admitted to Sean that he knew Kimber married him to get back at Christian. This proved that the Scientologists hadn't completely brainwashed Matt. Same goes for Kimber, who admitted to Sean that she was "trying" to love Matt. Yes, Matt's still with Kimber, but now that he's got all that money from Sean, hopefully he'll leave her next season. Sean's suggestion to Matt to possibly use the money to go back to school clicks with last month's episode-of-the-future in which Matt's a plastic surgeon.
Ryan Murphy excels at getting the best out of his actors: I notice when Ryan Murphy is listed as an episode's director, I'm going to get Emmy-caliber acting from the actors. How absolutely awesome was Julian McMahon during the scene wherein Christian realized the truth behind Michelle's connection to James? Never been better. Roma Maffia was magnificent when Liz held that gun in front of Escobar's face. And the poignant scene between Matt and Sean gave John Hensley a chance to show off his true acting chops. An excellent script helps as well, so kudos to Ryan again, along with co-writer Hank Chilton.
There is life after MTV: I know she's gone on to be a successful entertainment reporter on all sorts of shows like Access Hollywood and Extra, and her acting credits include Six Feet Under and Running Scared. But I will always remember Idalis DeLeon from her gig as an MTV VJ and, before that, as one of the members of the all-girl group Seduction. Does "Two to Make It Right" ring a bell? I thought she kicked Colombian butt tonight as the in-dire-need-of-reconstructive-surgery Gala. Her pre-surgery breasts looked an awful lot like Melissa Gilbert’s mutilated boob from earlier this season. Ouch. But Gala's tainted tatas weren't doggy-related. Great exit line from Gala to Christian, Sean and Liz as she left Escobar's dead body behind: "Thank you for my breasts!"
Hooray for Hollywood: Moving McNamara/Troy from Miami to Hollywood, the plastic surgery mecca, will expand the show's horizons for next season, Season 5. You could tell Sean wasn't digging working at that clinic in Encino without his other half Christian. Danny Strong (from Buffy and now Gilmore Girls) was a riot as Sean's intern.
Nip/Tuck goes all "music video" on us: Remember when MTV and VH1 used to show music videos? Those were the days. So it was a treat to have tonight's season-ender feature all of the show's stars lip-synching to the same song music-video-style a la Magnolia. I would've preferred a song that most of us recognized, but since the lyrics of "Brighter Discontent" by The Submarines were fitting, I'll let it slide. Click here and scroll down to the bottom for those lyrics.
So what did you think of tonight's season finale? Are you looking forward to the L.A.-bound adventures next season as much as I am or have you Nipped your last Tuck?

yeah i agree.....this seasons finale was way much better than last years. im so glad that escobar is gone. i was getting so sick of looking at his face. frankly it was making me sick. it looked liked skin from a piece of overfried chicken. anyway roma downy's performance was good. very good. i knew something was going to happen with escobar told his goons not to come into the room(by the way those 2 goons cracked me up......smelling the lotions were funny....but not as funny as their suits), and i sorta knew that the wife was going to be the won to shot her husband. i can not waite for season 5. with sean and christian being in la.....you dont know what kind of mess they are going to get themselves into. i hope they bring liz out there.troy/mcnamera wont work with out their liz.
i also loved the music video style of the stars lipsyncing too. by the way dave vh1 does show videos....but its in the wee hours of the morning.
and thanks dave for pointing out who idalis deleon is. i remember her on mtv and that song(actually i had to download it so i can remember it).
cant waite for season 5.

Dave, I thought I read on this site somewhere that Sanaa had signed on for 12 episodes next year. Like you I love the actress but with Christian in L.A. and Kimber still in love with him, I don't think there's much hope for those two. Loved the shots of Sean & Christian on the Hollywood sign.

Great Finale. Not Season 2 great but still great. Season 2's ender will always be my favorite. However, this episode did some great things. It got rid of Escobar and Michelle. While I'll miss mental Escobar in seans head I wont miss him or michelle in real life. Gala was fantastic. My only concern with the show moving to LA is that Liz and Kimber won't be there. I hope Liz comes cuz what does she have left in Miami anyway. It would be kind of neat to see the three of them together as a little family unit. Kimber, needs to loose that baby and go to LA after Christian. Her and Matt was a bad idea. Can't wait for season 5.

I did really love tonight's episode. When Gala and Liz were talking, I turned to my fiance and said one of them is going to kill him.
Oh, and best line of the night... "You might want to go in the nursery, his ex-wife screwed a dwarf in there!" So Christian and so funny!

WOW!! What a show!! I loved the fact that Matt finally got a clue and realized the truth of Kimber. Even though what she did was wrong, I know it was based on her love for Christian so I don't wish her bad. I think Christian pushed her into it by the way he treated her the last time they got together.
And poor Matt!! He is such a kicked puppy. While depite the fact that he thinks he loves Kimber I don't. I hope he does take this money and does something for himself. And take time away for his own self realization. Of course this is TV and it makes better drama to have him confused all the time but I can hope.
I think we will see more of Michelle. Sanaa Lathan does have 12 more episodes so those who hope she is gone may as well accept it, she will be back.
Of course Lizzie will be moving to LA, a family that commits crime together sticks together. So I am very confident we will see Lizzie again. Besides she is great banter for Christian. I love when they go at it verbally. Under it all you can see they really have a love for each other which really came out when Liz lost her kidney. Christian jumped right in w/o hesitation.
And I can't wait for Season 5 also. Wonder what adventures our boys will get into out there.

LOVED IT!!!! LOVED IT!!!!! LOVED IT!!!! So glad that Michelle is GONE!!!! She had NO chemistry w/Christian at all. At first I was a little worried that she was going to get away with everything when Escobar died (like her secrets did when James shot herself)But just when I thought that I could'nt take it anymore (I was calling her the Yoko Ono of Sean & Christian) The ending was GREAT!!! I was very happy to see that Christian left her and went back to Sean. It was nice to see the father/son connection that Sean & Matt once shared before, only time will tell what happends to Matt/Kimber???? Hope to see Liz & crew join the boys in LA. This was a Wonderful finale, had me on the edge of my seat the whole hour(went by toooo fast)I though I was going to have to sweat it out about what was going to happend to Sean & Christian? were they really going solo? but there is no nip/tuck without Sean or Christian? I LOVED the last scene with the guys by the Hollywood sign AWESOME!!! Good to see Christian back to the Oooh so bad boy that he is!!!! & Sean with the one person who has always been there when he needs it!!! (and I hope there will be more good for Sean down the line?) THE BOYS ARE BACK!!!!! WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA BOYS

Well Michelle did adopt Wilbur so you know they have to have some interaction unless she just doesn't want to be his mother. I like this finale but can't really say I loved it. I am also very happy Escobar got his comings in the end and his wife was just running over him all the show so you know she was the one with the real power. The goons were very funny with the lotion!
Thanks Dave for Danny Strong, I just told my coworker he was on Buffy but I could not remember his real name.

Ahhh...nice finale. Glad they didnt leave us hangin about Christian & Sean and if they were gonna be solo for awhile.
I am glad that Esco is dead but I hope he still appears in Sean's dreams lol!
Michelle is not gone...she just might not be Christian's love interest.
McNamara & Troy in Hollywood..oh the possibilites. Season 5 is lookin might bright
Liz has to go to Hollywood..it wouldnt be the same.
I liked the music vid at the end..sumthin a bit diff't and kinda cute

Not a bad finale, but that music video deal at the end was pure cheese. It would have been much more poignant with the music but having the characters actually stay in character. As it was, I had to suppress the urge to laugh.

Loved the finale, but I have to say that I was not convinced by the final scene of Christian and Sean operating together. Neither of them were wearing sugical masks, so I'm wondering if it's all just a dream.

I loved last nights season finale. I was sooo happy when Christian showed up to assist Sean in Hollywood. The scene at the very end with them in front of the Hollywood kicked ass. I LOVED IT!!! I have seen a couple of people referring to Season 2's finale, but I just can't remember it. Can somebody please help me out. So looking forward to our boys out in Cali next Season.

The season 2 finale was when Sean was terrified that the Carver would come for him. He had a police car in front of the house and Julia and the kids were also somewhere safe. But, the last scene we see Christian wake up and the Carver is over him. He injects Christian, who lets one single tear roll down his paralyzed face, and then the last image we see if the Carver raising his knife, slashing, and then cut to black.
Pure brilliance it was.
