Season Premiere Redux

Leave it to ABC to take the concept of the dreaded repeat and reinvent it as "enhanced" television. Now, instead of enjoying a few quiet Thursday evenings with my family, I am compelled to watch these repeats—I mean "enhanced" episodes— and search for clues and new information. My name in Trish W. and I am a Lost addict.

I did actually learn a few things tonight, though I don't know if any of this was truly new information. Below are a few tidbits that I noticed and some corrections from the first time around:

—The car that Hurley is racing in the opening scene is a 1974 Camaro—the same car that he was rebuilding with his father in season three's "Tricia Tanaka is Dead."
—Abbadon (as in Hurley's mysterious psych ward visitor) translates as "guardian of the abyss." Also, the picture on the chalkboard in that scene, which includes a boat, an island and a shark, is a clue.
—I didn't remember Sawyer's kindness to Hurley after he learns of Charlie's death. That really set the stage for their burgeoning friendship in these eight episodes.
—I had also missed Ben's sarcastic comment about Naomi's big pile of firewood. Priceless.
—Originally, I had identified the eye in the cabin as Mikhail. Now it seems more obvious that it was probably Locke since it is he who turns up to help Hurley a moment later.
—I was once again touched (and brought to tears) by Hurley's joyful, carefree cannonball followed by his heartbreaking scenes learning of Charlie's death and sharing the news with Claire. Jorge Garcia completely rocked this episode.
—So, "H" is the eighth letter of the alphabet and "O" is the fifteenth? And here I was thinking that they were just playing basketball. Did anyone actually catch that the first time around?

Keep those "enhanced" comments coming as we work through these next four weeks together. April 24 will be here before we know it.

Hi! Hurley is NOT driving a 1974 Camaro in this episode. 1973 Camaro's and prior had the beautiful round taillights that are seen several times on the car he is driving. In 1974 they changed to an ugly squared off design. I know because I owned two 1973 models!

I also noticed the same stuff as you did Trish. I would of noticed more from the pop ups if I wasn't fooling around on myspace page. Next time I need to pay attention more. Anyway, Hurleys car....I think that was the only thing I did pay attention to. He was driving a '73 Camaro(thanks to krallc we know it was a 74 instead of a 74.....I wouldnt know the difference). I never really got how Jack figured out that was Hurley who was in the car chase.

Another thing I found interesting was Abbadon's name. It also means Destoyer in Greek. Very interesting. Not only that, but since his name is a biblical refrence, some Biblical scholars believe that Abbadon is antichrist, a lesser demon from hell or even a dark angel. Once again very interesting.

Ok back to the episode, I didn't cry the first time when Hurley broke the news to Claire about Charlie, but I certainly teared up this time. I agree Jorge rocked.

I still find it amazing that absoulty no one in that group(of how many) besides Ben notice Naomi with a knife still lodge in her back crawl away like she did. I know of noticed that.

Anyway, this is from last week's episode. I was just listening to a podcast, and they were talking about the screen cap of the shooter who shot Carl and Danielle. I know most of you seen this screen cap, but this one is very interesting on who the shooter could be. It points out that the shooter had a dharma logo on its shoulder. And then there is a screen cap that has a few frame shots of the shooter crouched down in the jungle moving away gspn.tv/151-weekly-lost-podcast-meet-kevin-johnson-full-review/

Ok and here is one that I found interesting and a bi little weird. This one shows Danille seconds after she got shot and she collapsed head first on the ground..lost.cubit.net/archives/2008/03/4x08-danielle-shot-in-back.php#more the reason why I find it weird is because she has her bealt on backwards lol. Thats about if for this episode. For now.

Once again, they show the heart-wrenching scene of Charlie in the hatch with the water coming in, and once again my husband asks why Charlie didn't just get out when he saw what's-his-name about to blow the place with the grenade? Can anyone answer that? Because I can't come up with a reason!

why Charlie didn't just get out when he saw what's-his-name about to blow the place with the grenade? Can anyone answer that?

Desmond told Charlie he was destined to die. Desmond had seen it time and time again, all in different ways. Desmond told Charlie that there was nothing that could be done about it. Charlie figured that it would be better to die as a hero than to be taken out by lightening or some other ways that Desmond had seen in his visions.

When Charlie saw Mikhail with the grenade, he knew he had to die by drowning in the Looking Glass station, as that is what Desmond had seen in his vision. The key note is, Desmond had also seen Claire and Aaron getting on a helicopter as a result of Charlie 'flicking the switch' and drowning, so nobly Charlie knew he must drown if that specific prophecy was to be fulfilled. We have yet to see if Claire and Aaron will be rescued, or otherwise, by a helicopter.

I was looking forward to the 3/27 episode but it was locally pre-empted for a regional newscaster and we were appalled. Who pre-empts Lost? However, from what I am reading it was not a new episode - just "enhanced". Even so why would Mitch Albom anger so many people by pre-empting what was advertised as a new episode? Etc., etc. Did I miss anything? And will I get to see the "enhanced" show".

By closing the hatch Charlie gave Desmond a chance to survive. If he had left that room he would not have been able to close that hatch from the other side once the grenade went off and the flooding started and Desmond would have died as well.

Also, regarding the "H" and "O" being the 8th and 15th letter of the alphabet and Hurley and Jack playing HORSE only up until H-O...when Hurley saw Charlie in the convenience store and bugged out, he was either near the Ho-Ho's stand or knocked into the Ho-Ho's. something like that.

Abbadon (as in Hurley's mysterious psych ward visitor) translates as "guardian of the abyss."

I’l repeat my Abbadon info from a few weeks ago:

It is used interchangeably for a place of destruction and despair(hell) and a demon/angel bringing those things. There are 3 Biblical references to Abbadon as an entity(which seem to be the earliest). The first to in Job and Psalms could be read as either a person or a place, but the third in Revelations is clearly a person. Depending upon interpretation the figure could be evil or good. My reading leads me to see him as carrying out God’s Wrath in the end times not as a recipient of it. He(and his locust like army) torment the unbelievers. He also holds the key to the pit in which he locks Satan for a while then releases him to finish his dirty work before his eventual defeat. So basically he is an agent of God, but not one of the ones that brings you mercy and love.

So is our Abbadon an agent of someone sent to suppress Ben? Does he bring Judgment on those who need it? He is interesting for sure.

I never really got how Jack figured out that was Hurley who was in the car chase.

I’m guessing he just knows what car Hurley drives. Wouldn’t be that weird if they spent a little time together after getting back.

Did I miss anything? And will I get to see the "enhanced" show".

Hi BrandonL, I also read the definition of Abbadons name . I have no clue on how he is tied to everything. I had a theory about him after the premier(which caused me to pull over to the side of the road to right down), but that theory was blown out of the window. And it was a good one too. lol Oh well.

I’m guessing he just knows what car Hurley drives. Wouldn’t be that weird if they spent a little time together after getting back.

Yeah that would be weird, but since Sun is back in Korea it wouldnt of happened. Im thinking he knew it was Hurley's car because when they returned home a family member of Hurleys possibly his dad came and picked him up in it. And Jack saw the car.

I think they likely spent some time together if for no other reason than press events. It doesn't strike me as weird that he would have seen Hurley's car at some point.
