Episode Recap: "Reunion"

TV “Rock n’ Talk” host Sylvia is found dead in her apartment, and Wheeler and Logan have to weed through the suspects to see who had most to gain by having her dead.

Ruled out first is the stealing assistant who ran off with her con ex-boyfriend using a credit card she stole off her bosses dead body when she finally got around to coming over to program the VCR (“they still makes those?” I know right, Wheeler?).

Next they move onto investigating the neighbor, which in a funny little twist leaves Wheeler star-stuck as her favorite musician from her high school days Jordie Black is a good friend of Sylvia’s. Jordie and his wife are looking innocent as the wife points the finger on Sylvia’s son Milo. Milo the day of her death was just announced to go on tour with Jordie and his old band, which from the looks of it did not make Sylvia too happy. When questioned, Milo seemed to leave out alot of what really happened that last night with his mother, but thanks to Wheeler and Logan’s impromptu visit to his apartment they find his lawyer hiding in the closet who spills what the motive could be – the newly changed will not in Milo’s behalf. At this point I was starting to think Milo might really be Jordie's son…

As the detectives search for the will and more clues, Milo has a relapse and gets put in the hospital. Also evidence is now popping up against Wheeler’s star Jordie Black that he might be involved with teenage boys which was the cause for his “mutual” release as spokesperson for SAYFE. All the evidence was now looking like he was involved with Milo- throwing my theory of father and son out the window, but I wasn’t quite ready to give that up yet.

They hold Milo, planning to charge him for the crime based on the will theory. Milo is allowed to go spread the ashes of his late mother at a small ceremony by the river. After the ceremony all hell breaks loose as the truths from the last 20 years start unraveling: Jordie’s wife not Jordie had been sleeping with Milo. She had no idea he was really Jordie’s son until the night of Sylvia’s death when Sylvia told her how stupid she was for not even knowing she was sleeping with her own step-son. To shut her up, the wife hit her with the champagne bottle. Jordie of course is disgusted by the news of the affair, and Milo is shocked and betrayed by the news of a father. However in the end it looks like those two will have a new relationship and be okay.

Quoteables:
“Roadtrip…Poconocs baby.” ~ Logan to Wheeler.
“I was a mentor to Milo.” ~ Jordie in the interrogation room.
“…in the bedroom?” ~ Wheeler’s reply.
“I liked you better when you were in the closet.” ~ Logan referring to counsel
“Let’s make Wheeler’s day and let her talk to Jordie.” ~ Logan to the Captain.

What did you think of tonight’s episode? Did you think early on that Milo was the rocker’s son too?

Katie: "At this point I was starting to think Jordie might really be Milo’s son…"

Katie, I think you meant that you thought Milo might be Jordie's son. Smiley (Cute) Wink

I really enjoyed last night's episode, and love that quote you used by Logan about the Poconos!

Did anyone else notice that Noth has covered up those wonderful silver flecks that used to be by his temples? Did he color up for a movie?

And I'm sorry, but Wheeler's 'star-struck-Jordie-can-do-no-wrong-I-love-him-he-can't-be-the-killer' attitude just irked me. It's not the first time she's done this. She did it in last season's episode that was a rip from "Saved By the Bell"--Screech/Zack storyline--you know, the ones with the Armenians?

I guess since the "Zack" character turned out to have feet of clay, Wolf decided to let this hero of Wheeler's be innocent. GAK.

But Joan Jett looked POSITIVELY AWESOME! Too bad she was the victim.

I liked that I was kept on my toes regarding Jordie--was he a molester or young boys? Or was he Jordie's father? If the latter, then please, not an abuser!

My eyebrows did rise when Logan told the rep. at SAFE, that "Mutual Decision" was just another phrase for damage control, especially since, that was the same phrase Chris Noth used when it was announced he was leaving CI at the end of the season. Hmmm...

Anyhoo--did you see the look on Wheeler's face when Logan told her, she'd have to delay her talk with the fiancee? Well gee, Wheeler, you are a cop. Don't you just hate it when work gets in the way? I could tolerate her when she joined, but last night I wanted to slap her upside the head. My mind kept saying: 'What are you, 13?'

But I watched this episode TWICE, hanging on to EVERY word that LOGAN was saying.

The woman who played Tanya looked awfully familiar, though.

Most welcome. ;)

Oh, almost forgot--I'm soo bummed about next week--Goren still has that ghastly beard.

But, looks like we'll see how he and Eames are dealing together, since last week's show was filmed BEFORE the strike. BAH!

I completely thought that Milo was Jordy's son, especially when I realized they live next door to each other and when his wife said they never had kids. Loved the guest stars tonight, especially Joan Jett. She looked great but only wish she was in the show more. Loved the lawyer "dude" and it really made me feel old when I realized I first saw him in the original 48 Hours with Eddie Murphy.

Overall, I give this episode a solid B+. Much better than some of the past stories and way better than SVU.

This was a great episode and I usually like the Goren eps better. As soon as the wife said all she does is take care of her husband I knew she was the killer. I thought she killed Sylvia because she had something on Jordie. Of course I was so wrong. I had no idea Milo was his son.

Wow, did not catch that that was Joan Jett. I must have missed her name in the opening credits. She does look good. Anyway, on to the episode. I knew that Milo was Jordie's son midway through and kind of figured the whole child molester angle was a mislead. Knew the wife was the killer only because she was the only one that they weren't trying to make look guilty. Also kind of figured she and Milo were having an affair. Despite the fact that this episode did not hold any surprises for me, I really enjoyed it. Lot of clever lines and enough twists and family secrets to keep it interesting. I was a little put off by Wheeler's star struck attitude and as a previous poster pointed out, the same thing happened last season. Seemed silly to have another murder suspect be someone she had a teen idol crush on.
So was this the last episode with Logan? If so, at least it was a good one.

KateDFW - I think any CI has been better than this last season of SVU. Saw a couple of the older SVUs on cable yesterday and it made me realize how bad SVU has become.

KatieCFW if you fell old about seeing the lawyer in 48 hrs. I ancient remembering him in the Worries klinking bottles together saying "Worriers come out to playya".
As for Wheeler I was over her in her first episode.
I too would have liked to have seen more Joan Jett.

Geets226:The woman who played Tanya looked awfully familiar, though.

I know it was driving me crazy who the actress was playing Jordie's wife so I looked it up. Dana Wheeler Nicholson played Helen Marsden in Slither. She was the older member of Michael York's harem of blondes. One of my obsessions is figuring out which other shows in the Law & Order franchise I've seen guest actors appear in. I just watched an early L&O the other day All My Children and Julianne Nicholson played a teenager who thought she was the illegitimate daughter of a wealthy man and is suspected of murder when her half-brother is killed. I also saw S. Epatha Merkerson in an early episode before she became Lt. Van Buren. I love that they use the same actors over and over again. It's like a game trying to spot them.

Anyway, I enjoyed Sunday night's episode. I watched it twice right away which I usually only do with Goren/Eames epis. It had all sorts of twists and turns. I thought early on that Milo was Sylvia and Jordie's son, but when they turned up the molestation angle, I dropped the idea.

I agree with you Geets226 and evilkitty. Wheeler has been a little off lately. Julianne Nicholson is a very capable actress and did a great job in last year's episode Players where she finds out her father was involved with the mob and might have been killed by them. I hope the writers give her something better to work with. Don't get me wrong. I'm as big a fan of the writers and producers of CI as I am the actors, not to mention the behind the scenes people. I appreciate them all for bringing us a consistently good show.

Also, evilkitty I think there should be more Logan episodes. They planned a total of 12 episodes in the second half of Season Seven and they've only aired six, so we have six to go. Hurray! theReelblog mentions two Logan/Wheeler episodes filming. One is Neighborhood Watch and the last episode of Season Seven is called Last Rites. That title sounds foreboding.

Thanks, mlmjlm0627 for that. With the strike causing a shorter season and CI not starting when most shows do, I didn't know how many episodes they had left.

The Reelblog says the last episode of Season Seven is called Last Rites and is a Logan/Wheeler episode. That title sounds foreboding.

Uh-oh you're right, that doesn't sound good. All I can say is they better not send Logan back to Staten Island and he should get a better send off than Adam Beach's character did on SVU. Chris Noth was an original cast member on L&O when it debuted in 1990. He deserves a fitting final episode for having created such a memorable character.

You're welcome evilkitty. I'm a fount of useless knowledge. Well, unless your a LO:CI fan like we are. ;)
I hope they don't kill Mike Logan off. I really like the character. I've been watching the first seasons of L&O on DVD and it would be sad to see him gone for good.

The episode was great, and I totally didn't realize that was Joan Jett (because she looked so good) until I saw her name in the credits. I just got into CI this season, and I have been catching up on the old episodes thanks to the endless reruns on USA, and really enjoying it.

I think it is funny that they recycle guest actors a lot.

There is one actress that has been in like 3 episodes that I can count. In one, she played the mother who killed her children with a car bomb, and in another she was the "good" daughter in law that murdered her brother in law and husband and tried to pin it on the "bad" sister in law. I know she was in another, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

mlmjlm0627: "Julianne Nicholson played a teenager who thought she was the illegitimate daughter of a wealthy man and is suspected of murder when her half-brother is killed."

I remember that episode--and she was really good. What happened between then and now? Most, if not all of her acting in CI looks as if she's just going through the motions. Blech.

mlmjlm0627:"I agree with you Geets226 and evilkitty. Wheeler has been a little off lately. Julianne Nicholson is a very capable actress and did a great job in last year's episode Players where she finds out her father was involved with the mob and might have been killed by them."

I think that may be the only episode where she actually showed emotion. I know that I don't want to see another "groupie" type episode featuring an artist/actor that she 'loooooved' growing up--who is a suspect. Gag.

Since Mike Logan is such a beloved character--I'm hoping Wolf won't be stupid and kill him off. I'd rather Logan just transfer to another precinct. Can't be the Two-Seven because that's Van Buren's precinct and we'd expect to see him there.

Welcome on board FrankBW3. I'm always glad when someone discovers my favorite show on television. Carrie Preston was also in the episode about the Doctor who liked to watch his girlfriends have sex with his Veterinarian "buddy" and then poisoned them. I know some people don't like that they use the same actors, but I think it's kind of fun.

I thought from the start that Milo was Jordy's son. One thing I'm upset about is the fact that Chris Noth is leaving in the fall. Is this really true? He is the main reason I watch the show. I loved him in the original Law and Order and was so excited when he came back on CI as Mike Logan. The show won't be the same without him. I would just like to know why he is leaving or if he is and why? southernbelle007
