Episode Recap: "Cobb's Web"
The case: Three inmates from OPP, the prison in which Cobb was once incarcerated, have escaped. The team is enlisted to help round up the fugitives and bring them back to jail.
The complications: Two of the three escaped convicts are recaptured quickly, but they're killed before Cobb and Boulet can question them. Their case is further compromised when deputy Carlsson tries to kill the third convict, Tim Dunlevy. One thing is certain: He had help from the outside in planning his escape.
The resolution: Warden Deville has been loaning out prisoners on work detail to illegally dump toxic sludge from drilling. Dunlevy knows Deville’s secret and is certain he'll be killed if he is taken back to jail. Dunlevy is allowed to escape, and the team recovers damning evidence of Deville's illegal business endeavors.
There were some exciting developments in this episode. Cobb and Boulet are getting to know each other better and as a result are working cases much more efficiently. And their captain is giving them the leeway they need to do their jobs. I think the level of trust Boulet has in his partner is admirable, considering that Cobbs's an escaped convict. I’m not a police officer and I've never had to trust a convicted felon, but I'd probably still be pretty wary of Cobb. That’s me though.
We learned some interesting things about Cobb. He was good friends with only one person when he was in jail and that was his cell mate. He has survivor's guilt — he had to drown his cell mate (sorry, I didn't write down his name) in the post-Katrina flooding to save his own life. Therefore Cobb feels a real kinship to Dunlevy, especially since he knows Dunlevy's doing time that doesn't fit his crime. In fact, he's so empathic he gives the kid his car keys so Dunlevy can make his escape. I had a problem with it, but I can see how Cobb made peace with it.
One thing that does make me nervous is Cobb showing his face around OPP. Even if the faces have changed, he should be a little more careful if he wants to keep himself out of jail and on his new path.
The rest of the team is still pretty much in the background, but this is a buddy-cop show so I don’t expect them to be featured players. One new face I think has a lot of potential is DA Lyndsey Swann. She's sassy and doesn't back down from a fight. There was some heat between her and Cobb; we’ll see where it goes. That reminds me: What's going with Boulet's family? Are his wife and daughter still in town? I'm curious to see more with them.
The case definitely ended up in a different place than I thought it would, which is always a good thing. I really hate it when I can guess where a story's going. And who knew running a prison could be so profitable? It's interesting to me that the warden gets a per diem per prisoner, which makes it beneficial to lock up as many people as possible. But where exactly does that 100K a day the warden was getting before Katrina go? I’m pretty sure it doesn’t go back into the taxpayers' pockets. If it doesn't go to the taxpayers, where does it go? It’s certain that Deville is getting at least a small kickback. That would have been an interesting question to answer as well.

Great recap. I am really glad I watched last night. I thought the episode was much better than the premier. I'm from Baton Rouge and have been to New Orleans many times, it's neat to see and hear about the areas surrounding New Orleans. I have a good friend who lives in Metairie. She loves it there and didn't even consider moving out. It's important for people to see that there are alot of nice people who live in the New Orleans area, not just the people that grab the news headlines; if you go into any city where there needs to be a news story, you will see telecasted the worst case scenarios. Perhaps people just do not think they can relate to the people in New Orleans, but many are just hard working families trying to save their homes and culture. I hope this show sticks around, the two leads have great chemistry and there are so many possibilities for great storylines.

I enjoyed the episode as well, although I do find some things to be uneven. I don't know how Cobb can walk around the prison so freely when he was once incarcerated there. But I suppose we'll get more into that down the road. I hope to see more of Boulet's family in future episodes as well, although the 1st episode got into Boulet's backstory and this episode went more into Cobb's. The series is still setting itself up so I have no worries that things will even up in future episodes. I will definately continue to watch.

My husband & I really enjoyed this week. We liked that humour was also a part of a serious show. The show kind of reminded us of Danny Gover and Mel Gibson in the Lethal Weapon movies. We'll definitely keep watching to see how the show develops, so far so good and getting better.

I am really enjoying this show. It is a cop buddy drama yes, but it isn't New York or Baltimore any of the other huge metropolitan cities. It's New Orleans and that I think is a character of it's own in the show. Anthony Anderson is showing that he can do something other then comedy. And Cole Hauser.. he is somewhat creepy but I like him too. It was mentioned that he shouldn't be going to the jail because someone would recognize him.. well someone did. The older inmate chanting 'no ghosts here' (or something similar) when Cobb was on the phone, he jumped Cobb and that's what started that fight. So it will be interesting if the very slimy Warden Deville (Cruella Deville anyone???) finds out who Cobb is exactly.

This episode was a big improvement over last week's premier. It just had a better flow, and the partners were much more insync with each other.
I really enjoy where this is heading and I recommend that everyone stick with this show!

I actually really like this show - so far it's my favorite. I think that Cobb and Boulet are a good match as partners. Thumbs up!

I have two problems with this show: it's on opposite of Heroes so I have to catch it on line and in this eppy, I felt the twist was just too ... twisty, ya know? It came completely out of left field and while I'm not asking for the writers to draw us a map, it just seemed a little implausible.
Otherwise, I like the interplay between Boulet and Cobb and think that Cole Hauser is hotter than a New Orleans day in the middle of August. Where are Boulet's wife and daughter? I like that they're an intact family (sort of), which is rare to find on TV these days for African-American characters.
YAY to Fox for allowing us to view online, though. It's a nice perk when your DVR can only record one show if you're watching another and there's 3 shows you want to see!

I am totally digging this show. and I completely agree that Cole is Hot as can be. I really hope people keep watching. I think the old guy recognized him as well, and I bet there will be something with that later on.

I don't think the recap does the show justice. There was a lot more that went on in the show than is portrayed here. Makes me wonder what I missed last week (because all I did was read the recap).

I also liked the second episode better than the pilot episode. I will definitely keep watching this show. I am worried about its ratings though because it is up against Dancing with Stars for the first half hour.

Indy500 - Anthony Anderson proved his dramatic acting chops a while back. You must not be a fan of The Shield . He also did an excellent job in Hustle and Flow.
So far, the best thing about this show is the two leads. I like the NO setting, like the concept, but otherwise it does seem like just another buddy-cop drama. The two leads make this show for me, and after two episodes, it's still staying on my DVR season list.

I loved it, loved it, absolutely loved it!! The first 2 or 3 minutes were so good with all the action, I thought I had tuned in to a movie. Loved AA better as a cop than a crook,(the Shield). The dialog is great, the writing had me on the edge of my seat when they went to the prison. I too wonder why none one at the prison recognizes Cobb, but too feel it will come out later in the season. They want us to love him and be protective over him before they take him down. I don't think he will go back to his old ways, he's truly turned his life around. I think Boulet's family will slow him down right now. If his wife and daughter were living in Atlanta with apartment and all, that will take a little while to undo. I think she'll be back, maybe not too soon. Let us enjoy him getting to know his partner before he has to start doing a honey do list. I can't wait 'till next week.

I guess I am in the minority, but I wasn't sold on this episode. It seemed too far-fetched (a former prisoner walks around his old prison and no one recognizes him? I guess you can make for a case of him being out of context, so people don't clue in, but it seems thin). Plus, that whole stereo-typical line of, "I'm a black man. It's hot sauce," just seemed lazy to me. I just don't know. I like Anthony Anderson but it just seems like he is playing a caricature, not a real person. It's not his fault, it's how he is written. I am going to give this one more episode. But, if it doesn't get better, I'm out.
