Episode Recap: "You Don't Want to Know"

The mysteries of life? They're maaagic — or at least, that's what this week's POTW would like you to believe. The sleight-of-hand artist was performing his trapped-in-a-glass-box-of-water trick when he started to bleed in the middle of act. Fortunately for him, "Big Love" and Number 6/9 were in the audience and came to his rescue.

Next day, House scooters in to the classroom and presents his newest game to the Wannabes: Which ever of them manages to get Cuddy's thong undies is immune from being fired, at least temporarily. And most insidious of all, the winner gets to nominate two other candidates to be on the chopping block. "Cut Throat Bitch" and Plastic Surgeon Guy try to get Cuddy soaked in order to get her undies (still not sure exactly how that would have worked), but in the end it's "Big Love" who hands over the red panties. "Cole has traveled through the forest of crustaceans and brought us a treasure," House declares to the Wannabes (oh, House, just 'cause you're jealous...) Later, when House was trying to deduce how exactly "Big Love" did it, he has a heart-to-heart with Wilson over a game of foosball. "You think it's remotely possible they had sex?" House asks. To which Wilson replies: "They're both single; it's still legal in the blue states."

Back to the medical mystery: At first, House doesn't believe there's anything wrong with the POTW at all. But when the key he swallowed for his trick is removed and the guy is still bleeding without explanation, House realizes he has something to solve after all. In the end, they had given the guy the wrong blood type, which was causing all his symptoms to shut down. House once again put himself in the line of medical danger by volunteering to get a transfusion from the same supposedly bad batch of blood that the POTW had received. He does in fact get sick — just a common reaction to the transfusion, he says — but the Wannabes want to use him as a test subject to see what their patient might have, and Number 13 spikes House's tea so they can get their organ biopsies (ouch!)

Speaking of Number 13, she's having some sort of medical mystery of her own this episode; House notices that she's being clumsy and having tremors and pokes around to find out her ailment. He finally gets it out of her that her mother died young of Huntington's Disease, which is often transmitted through the family, but Number 13 doesn't want to know if she has it or not.

Everybody took their shot at bribing "Big Love" into not nominating them except for Number 13, and when it came to it, House made quite a show of the ceremonial presentation of the panties on the pillow. When "Big Love" nominated CTB (no surprise) and 6/9 (his good buddy), House finally figured out how he'd gotten the panties off her — he'd made a deal with Cuddy, to put up the two candidates she most wanted to see go — and House fired "Big Love" instead. Breaking the rules is OK, was the lesson, just as long as you're doing it on House's terms. I must admit, I'm sorry to see "Big Love" go — he was charming, smart and provided an interesting element to the mix.

Next week the competition's over for yet another Wannabe; who would you most like to see stick around for good?

Even after knowing who eventually wins the competition (as the spoilers have been out for awhile), I was still surprised by this episode, and that amazes me.

Zinger314, I've been searching for those spoilers and can't find them. Can you please email me or something and tell me who wins? Or anyone who knows?

J8, it was actually revealed in a *SPOILERS* TVGuide.com News article on Oct 3rd.

But for those who are lazy:

**SPOILERS**

Thirteen, 6/9, and Plastic Surgeon Guy win, CTB is therefore out next episode.

Seemed real obvious to me anyways.

Oh good! The one that you say will be eliminated is the one that if was still stiking around I wouldn't be watching the show. Don't like that character at all!

No spoilers for me! I am enjoying the competition.

Glad that Big Love got denied. He was the only one of the five I did not like. Don't care who makes it from the rest of the pack. They're all good.

I for one am sorry to see "Big Love" go and to find out that the spoilers from weeks ago are true. I can't stand any of the final four. CTB is just too cartoon character for me. 13 is boring and "fake" mysterious. Taub I really liked for awhile, but he is just too over the top and his back story was awful. 6/9 doesn't fit at all. I have always hoped that he fired them all and found a way to get his original team back. None of the final contenders holds a candle to Chase, Cameron or Foreman.

And where were Chase and Cameron tonight?!

Well, the story was ok but house and wilson were great again:)
I thought the original cast will be back just not like the way before and that house will fire the rest of them soon.

I never thought I would actually see a case of Lupus on this show! Just when you finally write it off as having been some kind of urban-medical legend, it surfaces--for real!

Sure didn't expect Big Love to get the axe last night. I would have expected CTB to go straight to Cuddy with the challenge to get ahead, but not him. And especially to put the knife in his friend's back like he did. I felt bad for 6/9 when he realized what was going on; I wanted to give him a hug. The look on his face was just sad. But House was right to get rid of BL for that. Now for CTB- can't wait! Next week looks really good.

I figured who will be the team will be the team, though both the female characters are driving me nuts. They seem to be such obvious characters. But I have to say, Foreman is once again becoming my favorite of everyone. I liked how he just was sitting reading a paper during the morning session and that it took him a second from rolling his eyes to telling all the wannabes that is how I got hired.

I really love Kal Penn, so I'm excited to see him stay! I did like Big Love, though and that stinks that he left. CTB is an absolutely awful character. Although I think she is presented more as someone who has dehumanized herself into a caricature, rather than a poorly written character.

I can't stand either of the girls - 13 is a complete wimp, and bitch lady is, well, her name says it all.

I've been pulling for 6/9 and Big Love - they have been my two favs from the beginning. Ah well, can't have everything.

I am sorry to see Big Love go. TV and Hollywood in general so rarely lets any portrayal of a person with religious involvement that BL was a real breath of fresh air. The attitude seems to be "religious" means a Bible thumping evangelical always trying to preach to everyone or a Moslem terrorist. There is no acknowledgement that millions of Americans are quietlly and peacefully active in Faith Communities whether Christian, Jewish, Buddhist or any of the many other religions active in the US. I had hoped that BL would show the way to have a character who was religiously observant and it was just a part of his life, like so many of the viewers. I feel sort of betrayed by the show...I don't feel the plot fit the character they created...and shows that once again they were really gunning for the the guy who goes to Church. Sad...very sad. As an aside...the original crew are on so little how are they justifying their big salaries? Like on Star Trek...Bring back the Orginal Crew!!! The new kids are a bore... especially 13...could she look more cookie cutter skinny Hollywood bimbo? OK, that's it for now.

The episode last night was enjoyable. I did like the POTW and the fact that there was actually a diagnosis of Lupus put the icing on the cake! Lupus - you can't fake that! HA HA! "Big Love" will be missed. CTB can go any time, as far as I'm concerned. Looking forward to next week's episode. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
