Episode Recap: A Date With The Past

Well either things happen very fast in The Hills, or MTV just skips weeks at a time. The episode began with Lauren, Lo and Audrina looking at a house to move into. I know I should just except it for what it is but I can’t help but think, how did they go from “let’s all move in together” to “look at this house I found” to “let’s throw a housewarming party at our new house we’ve already moved into?” Audrina is already shafted to the “guesthouse” which is a sure sign that things may not be peachy keen for long.

At Caffe Primo, Lo and Lauren discuss the housewarming party they’re going to have and Lauren brushes over the tidbit that Steven Colletti is going to be making an appearance. Lauren says it’s not a thing but Lo says it’s always a thing and Lauren sorta wants it to be a thing and by the third mention of this “thing,” I’m lost.

Audrina mentions to her new roomies that Justin Bobby is going to be swinging by the party but when Lauren and Lo barely press her on the subject she seems offended. Stephen Colletti comes up again (apparently he can only be addressed now by his full name) and Lo again mentions their "thing." Audrina seems a bit put off when Lo says that they’ve been talking as if Audrina should know this already. I sense some major tension with this new living situation.

On her way to the party, Stephanie stops by Heidi’s to tell her where she’s going. She seems to be surprised with the reaction she gets but we all knew Heidi would not be happy. She doesn’t understand why Steph has to be friends with Lauren and Stephanie doesn’t understand why Heidi can’t get over it. But she gives in and decides not to go and instead stay in with Heidi. She looks seriously bummed though.

Finally the party gets started. Brody comes with a gift and his girlfriend Cora. Mr. Colletti shows up and its just likes old times back in Laguna. Then JB comes sporting a new clean, short-haired look. Definitely an upgrade. Audrina already spills to him about how Lauren questioned him coming. Audrina and Lauren seem to be growing farther and farther apart.

The next night, Stephen picks up Lauren for their date/dinner and she is decked out considering it may just be a friendly meal. They head to Il Cielo, a very romantic spot where all Lauren and Stephen seem to talk about is how everyone wants them to be together and why can’t they just hang out without it meaning anything? We know that at least Lauren is hoping it does mean something. Do you think Stephen feels the same? After dinner, he drops her off, where Lo is waiting to hear the scoop. Lauren wisely says that hanging out with Stephen makes her feel like she’s in high school and she’s not in high school anymore. Does she really mean that or is she protecting herself from getting hurt?

Next week looks pretty jam-packed with goodies. A new puppy, Audrina dissing Lauren and Lo, Heidi moving to Vegas and Stephanie kicking Spencer out. Can’t wait!

I gotta say I used to be a big fan of Lo as I always felt that she was a stabilizing force in Lauren's life. But the past few episodes and in the previews, it looks like she is a pot stirrer. And definitely looks like she is trying to drive a wedge in between Audrina and Lauren.

Lauren sometimes comes across as totally desperate. If you think back to when Jason wanted to get together for lunch, Lauren immediately thought he wanted to get back together. And now this with Stephen. I agree, Robyn. I think she definitely downplayed the dinner with Stephen because she didn't want to get her hopes up.

Does anyone know the timeline to when an episode was filmed to when it airs? I ask that because Heidi and Spencer are all over the place together in the "real" present but obviously still are taking a break in the episodes that are airing now. Just didn't know how far off the episodes are filmed to when they air.

Next week does look good. How long before Lauren's arch rival from Laguna shows up? Kristin isn't doing much else, is she?

Okay a good show last night. and I know the show is about Lauren, but the dinner conversation was just blah. Why dosen't Lauren asks how Stephen is..I mean, hello, he was on One tree hill. It always goes back to will they or won't they with them two. But I must admit, I do like seeing them together. I kept expecting Kristen to walk in or something haha..

I know this show is supposed to be "real" but come on, it's looking just a little bit scripted. And I don't know about other people, but I know my friends and I don't just stare awkardly for what seems like minutes at a time at each other. That is all this show seems to do is everyone just kinda stands around and stares..lol..maybe it's just me.

I seriously do not know why I watch this show. It's gotta be for the handbags.

I agree that there are a lot of long looks on this show. Sometimes I think this cast is afraid to say anything because they know they're being filmed, especially Audrina and Lauren. I love them, but sometimes they come across as a little dense.

I sooo hope Lauren finds someone great to date soon! She always seems lovelorn! Somebody help her find a great guy!!

I have wondered about the timeline for airing the show as well. I am so sick of seeing Heidi and Spencer EVERYWHERE, so we know they are together, which makes their scenes all the less believable. PLEASE get them off the show already!
