Episode Recap: When Spencer Finds Out/Just Be Careful

"When Spencer finds out…"

It’s Lauren’s birthday and as predicted, this came with nothing but drama. Lo and Lauren start the party a little early. Lauren mentions that while Brody and Frankie can’t come, all her girls, which now includes Stephanie, will be there.

Stephanie is about fed up with Spencer for taking over her apartment and even bringing his ugly fish tank in. When Spencer asks when the maid is coming, Stephanie replies, “You’re looking at her.” I loved this line. I also enjoyed how Stephanie brought up a good point about Spencer not looking for a job. Has he ever had one during the course of this show?

So of course Bolthouse is handling the entry into S. Bar, where Lauren is having her birthday. And Kimberly, Heidi’s closest friend, is manning the door when Stephanie arrives. Lauren tells her how awesome she thinks it is that she came, but Audrina and Lo are whispering about how weird it is. Heidi finds out the next day that her future sister-in-law attended her arch-nemesis’ party. She immediately calls Spencer who’s also mad, and proceeds to call his sister “junior Brody.” Speaking of Brody, that day he has a lunch date with Lauren at Toast, but nothing really interesting transpires. It’s just another opportunity for Lauren to be warned about Stephanie’s intentions.

At their apartment, Spencer makes Stephanie cry. He tells her she’s crazy and is only upset because she knows what she did. Stephanie tells Lauren about this during class and advises her that he’s probably just sensitive after losing Brody as a friend. She’s also quick to tell her that she didn’t do anything wrong. Stephanie still feels the need though to come clean to Heidi. She explains that they have fashion in common to which Heidi responds, all girls have fashion in common. This probably wasn’t the best reason for Stephanie to give Heidi as to why she and Lauren click so well. Stephanie then alludes to the fact that Heidi and Spencer wronged Lauren in the past, and almost “goes there.” Heidi simply warns her that the friendship will eventually go sour just like hers did. In some weird way, I actually liked Stephanie in this episode. I have no idea why she’s complicating things by befriending Lauren but I like how she stands up for herself to Spencer and Heidi. Do you agree?

"Just Be Careful…"

Lauren and Whitney are at Lulu’s, my favorite breakfast spot. Boy am I’m craving their delicious breakfast tacos. But anyway, Whitney is telling Lauren about her new job and you can sense that Lauren is a bit jealous that she hasn’t moved on from interning at Teen Vogue. We get a glimpse of People’s Revolution and learn that it’s LA Fashion Week, which means complete devotion to work. After a tense few minutes during a staff meeting, Whitney once again steps up and offers a great idea for celebrity outreach. It seems sort of obvious though, which makes me question how real the moment was.

Apparently Stephanie and Heidi have resolved their issues because they’re headed to Vice for girls’ night. And what do you know, Audrina is there. Heidi says hi to her and even though it’s super awkward, she tells Audrina that if she ever wants to talk or hang out, she’s there. Heidi either wants Audrina back as a friend to piss off Lauren or because she genuinely misses her but regardless comes up with a way to make peace. Heidi decides to grab the stuff she left at the old apartment so that she has a reason to talk to Audrina. She accomplishes her mission and reminds Audrina to give her a call if she ever wants to hang. Lauren learns about this possible friendship rekindled when Stephanie mentions in class that Audrina and Heidi are now cool. I’ve never seen one girl constantly flip sides more than Stephanie. Of course Lauren asks Audrina if she talked to Heidi and goes on to warn her, similarly to how everyone has warned Lauren about Stephanie. The cycle clearly never ends.

Next week, Lauren takes Whitney up on her offer to help out at work which seems to lead to a job offer. Will she take it and leave Teen Vogue too?

Ugh, I think I am so over this show. I used to really enjoy it but now it just seems like the same old thing week after week! I feel like this whole fight thing with Heidi/Lauren/Spencer has been dragged on long enough...I mean, it's pretty clear by now that MTV manufactures the story lines, so maybe they could come up with something new and different? Maybe it's just seeing two episodes back to back that really drove home the repetetiveness of the whole show, lol. But who am I kidding...I'm probably still going to tune in next week, lol.

Also, I don't think it's fair that Lauren is offered a job with PR. I mean, what did she do!? Whitney had to interview and prove herself, and Lauren shows up, calls a few names over the loudspeaker at a fashion show, and then gets offered a position? If I was Whitney, I would be a little upset, but that's just my two cents :)

Sorry I was on Heidi's and Spencer's side with this one. Regardless of who you blame, H and S are not friends with Lauren and it is a bitter relationship so Stephanie befriending her is crazy. I have a sister and even though I don't pick up all her battles I am always on her side and I would never become friends with someone that she so clearly has a bitter relationship with. H and S have every right to be put off by that and the fact that she did not tell them of her pending relationship shows how shady it was.

I have to agree with MDforME. This show is becoming sad. It's just fake people all vying for the spotlight, whether it's by becoming Lauren's best friend or her worst enemy. I didn't buy Lo and Audrina's concern about Stephanie for a minute. It sounded to me like they were just worried about their own place in Lauren's life (and therefore, in front of the cameras) if Stephanie became her new BFF (which the producers would love of course because she's Spencer's sister). And Heidi is just sad now. I feel nothing but pity for her. Spencer has just become unwatchable.

My roommate was depressed after watching this show and I think I will soon stop.

The only person worth watching anymore is Whitney. I was so hoping she'd get her own spin-off but now it looks like Lauren is going to be offered a job at People's Revolution too. Poor Whit just can't seem to get away from that girl.

maybe the job offer to lauren is a way to shift away from the borings and into a new storyline, we can only hope. MTV isnt stupid and they know everyone wants more whitney, she's the only one who seems like a living, breathing human being.

i'd stick up for my sister at any time too, but if spencer was my brother it would be a lot harder to take his side all the time. he's such a complete idiot, i wouldnt even be able to keep track of who i could and couldnt talk to with him. if he was my brother, i'd pretty much keep it at "i'll see you at christmas and thanksgiving".

raheast, you are looking at the situation as a person from a decent, loving family. can you imagine what the pratt house must have been like growing up!??!!? certainly not a close, loving family who treat each other with respect. i am sooo curious what their parents are like, to create such basketcase children.

i assume they get paid for being on the show, so is that how spencer pays his bills? or does he have a trust fund or something?

lauren getting the job at PR=more camera time at PR=free advertising for PR.

i cant even watch the show anymore, i just like to read this blog.
