Did Mrs. Petrelli Join the Other Fallen Heroes?
Can Mrs. Petrelli be saved? Cristine Rose by Trae Patton/NBC
Episode Recap: "Lizards"
Warning. This is your SPOILER ALERT! If you have not watched this week’s episode, please do not read this blog/recap until you do . . .
Leapin' regenerating lizards! I jumped out of my seat at the end of the show and did a happy dance. This episode was all about the heroes we know, love and have missed!
We knew Peter survived. We also knew he got a haircut and lost his memory. Does “the box” really hold his past? I’m glad to see he still has all of his powers. When Caitlin was washing off his blood, I thought, “Why hasn’t he healed yet?” And then: ta-da! The blood was gone and no marks remained.
I was surprised to see that Mr. Nakamura’s death made California news. Did that shock anyone else? I know the guy was a big time CEO in Japan, but he was murdered in New York and I don’t see why his death was front page news in Cali (maybe because the west coast is closer to Japan?) — but I’m glad it did, because now Mr. Bennet is on a new mission: find the remaining seven paintings. Apparently Isaac Mendez left us with more artwork.
We learned last week that there were eight remaining members of The Company. Now that Mr. Nakamura is gone, there are only seven. Isaac painted a prediction for each remaining member. But if Mr. Bennet had the painting that predicted Mr. Nakamura’s death, why didn’t he try to prevent it? Maybe he wasn’t sure if the painting would actually be correct, or maybe he didn’t want to draw attention to Claire. I’ve always liked Noah Bennet. I know he hasn’t always followed the right leaders, but in the end, he only wants what’s best for his family, especially Claire. No one can deny that he is trying to be a great father.
Speaking of The Company, we got to see the Haitian again! I missed him! At first, I didn’t know if Mohinder had had his memory erased or if it was all a part of a plan. I’m so glad to see Mohinder, Mr. Bennet and the Haitian working together. They will make a great team. All of them are intelligent, loyal and good. I know the word “good” may seem small, but its meaning stands for so much when its put up against that other small word: evil.
We don’t know much about our new heroes, Maya and Alejandro. We’ve seen that Maya’s power basically sucks. For real: Worst. Power. Ever. She thinks she is cursed, but in truth, I think her power can be used in different ways. She just doesn’t know how to control it yet. And the only force that can keep her “cursed” power at bay is her twin brother. Let’s hope they don’t get separated again! Also, I like that they are trying to cross the border. The point of this show is accepting others and their differences. I’m not trying to be political, but I understand where the writers are going. Heroes are not just in the United States — obviously, we’ve seen that before — but Maya and Alejandro will show that it is not always easy to get to the “free world.” Not everyone can just jump on a jet and land at the JFK airport.
Let’s move on to a lighter subject: Hiro! Or should I call him Takezo Kensei? Many people who commented last week hit the blade on the sword when they predicted that Hiro would become the Japanese legend Kensei. Or, at least help mold the “scary white man” into him!
Masi Oka does a fantastic job as Hiro. Every scene is enjoyable — especially when the swordsman’s daughter waited for a kiss from her “hero.” Maybe he wanted to kiss her, but feared he’d mess up the Kensei legends. However, I noticed his face as she waited for that kiss — it made me think of Charlie, back at the diner, from Season 1. He never got to kiss her, did he? Poor Hiro. Poor Masi.
Whoa, after going through my notes on Maya, Alejandro and Hiro’s scenes, I apologize if I left anything out. Taking notes and reading subtitles at the same time is no easy task!
On to Mrs. Petrelli (who may have had sexual relations with Mr. Nakamura! Whaaaat?). Why do I like her so much? She’s so not a good person! But I don’t want her to die! Maybe it's because she has most of the answers we want. Matt read her thoughts and that lady knows her stuff. She read him without having mind-reading power. The “GET OUT OF MY HEAD!” part was awesome! And what or who tried to kill her? Also, did every former member of The Company use the "symbol" for their own personal businesses? I know we’ve seen it since the pilot episode, but it has become much more prominent this season.
And to end the show . . . let’s cut off our pinkie toes! When Claire was sitting in class and her teacher mentioned the appendix, wisdom teeth and not needing a pinkie toe for balance, I stood up and tried to experiment. It’s basically impossible to do (unless you're Claire), because I was not willing to cut off my toe. Besides, my superhero power is not regeneration . Were you scared at first? When Claire gracefully cut off her toe? I was. I started shouting, “Grow back! Grow back!” Thank goodness it did! Then she saw her flying stalker, and now it’s study time with the first Dr. Suresh!
So kids, read up on your genetics and get some rest. TV Guide will get you through the week. Until next time, enjoy discussing all of your Heroes’ theories. I look forward to reading your comments!

Ahh, I thought that was a great episode. Peter looked uber-hot and kicked major ass. My theory on the Company killer/attacker is that it's Claude, the invisible guy. I think HRG is probably on his hit list and it'll be up to Claire to save him.
Where was Sylar? They kept showing him in the promos so I was disappointed not to see him tonight.

Great recap, Casey!
Every moment Peter was on was electric. He has such good chemistry with everyone! He's easily my favorite character, along with Hiro. Speaking of Hiro, I reeeeally don't see where this is going. Obviously he turns out to be the real Kensei, but... so? I enjoy watching him, but I don't get any sense that it's moving the plot along.
I love Claire and her burning desire to be real to herself. I HATED that she was essentially dumbing herself down (and I loved that she hated it too), but eek! Talk about a dumb blonde moment, forgetting to lock her car. I couldn't help thinking that this was a red herring; something else happened to it.
Love the Haitian (is that how it's spelled??). He's such an awesome character, and he does it all while saying very little. True talent. Plus, he's kinda scary as all hell.
To an earlier commenter who mentioned that maybe it was Claude, I don't think so. I think it's the same killer, manifesting different powers. If it had been him, then surely he would have been invisible when killing Kaito. I agree with last week's posters that the killer is Kristen Bell (if only because she's teeny and would be great as a wicked cast member).
I like that the powers are not limited to the U.S. We're so ethnocentric, so it's refreshing to see more multiculturalism (granted, we still have a long way to go). I'm guessing the Company would LOVE to put her to work....
Oh, and NakAmura (once spelled Nakmura), and (unless YOU'RE Claire). Hee.
Oh, wanted to add this: Claire was theorizing that maybe her blood could help others regenerate. Since Mohinder's blood helps defeat the virus, maybe he actually does have a power, but it's extremely subtle.

Before Kaito died, he said nine members of the original twelve were still alive. Since Isaac did eight series of paintings, I'm guessing whoever isn't in the paintings is the killer. I don't think the assassin is Claude, because he was HRG's partner. I doubt the original twelve would still have been going out on missions at that point.
I can't believe Angela and Kaito were a thing at one point. I'd also love to know how she kept Matt out of her mind. Perhaps anyone can do it if they try hard enough, or maybe it is related to whatever her ability is
I wonder if Kensei will be as curious as Claire is about their regenerating power. Personally I would have just snipped off a piece of the toe, but I guess Claire is a risk taker. I was so waiting for Mr. Muggles to go after that discarded appendage.
Love the scenes with Maya and Alejandro. It kind of looked like he was possessed when he was singing. Maybe he's like a host body for whatever that thing is, but he has to be close to Maya to contain it.
I was waiting for Peter to just snatch the box with TK. But at least all that upcoming criminal activity will give him a chance to test his powers.

Yeah, where was the Syler/Niki scenes which were promised in the previews from last episode? False advertising, I say!
"The Box" had better not be the new season catchphrase (in the same vein as "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World") for Heroes, or I will slap someone.

That may be the most foreign languages I've ever seen in one program.
Claire's toe amputation reminded me of "Species" when Sil cut of her thumb. Now Claire knows she has the unlimited ability to be a toe donor.
It's interesting that Peter is using powers that he was not previously aware of (at least consciously). Previously he absorbed powers from others, but only used powers that he had seen them use. Tonight he used DL's phasing power (which he would have picked up in the Plaza) even though he never saw DL use it. I'm guessing the "starburst" is something he got from Sylar that we just never saw. Anyone else think he looks a lot like Jeffrey Donovan from Burn Notice now that he has the short hair?
So great to see the Haitian again. He didn't seem to have much trouble finding the "hidden" Bennett family.
So apparently the gaijin Kensei has some kind of regenerative powers. Maybe with Hiro's help he might make something of himself after all.
Then we have our wonder twins aspiring to become illegal aliens. At first I was thinking that she's the grenade and he's the pin; but it seems to go deeper than that. He also has an "undo" key, very handy to have around - but a little too Shawn and Danny Farrell.

Not positive, but I don't think we will see Niki and Micah until the 4th or 5th episode. Don't hold me to it though!
Alot happened in the four months prior to the season premiere. Also, not to SPOIL anything for anyone, but DL is not in any of the Heroes promo ads... never a good sign for an actor. But then again, we don't know what went down in those four months!
I agree bobby-j, the assasin is most likely the final member Nakamura mentioned. From what we've learned, Mr. Nakamura [and Mrs. Petrelli] turned their back on the company in order to "do right" and repent their sins... so, maybe this is there sins coming back to haunt them. Veronica Mars could totally pull it off!

Thank you for doing more commenting than recapping. It seems these days the TV bloggers in charge of commenting on shows are doing more episode recaps rather than the usually witty comments and references (where are you Dave, Sabrina, Angel?)
It was nice to read a TV blog and hear your side Casey rather than a banal recap of what I just watched.
For the record I did squint my eyes in anticipation waiting for the pinkie toe to grow back. She is a fiesty one!

Love the Haitian, so glad he is back w/HRG. Now bring back Claude and I will be happy. Paging the invisible man!!
I also think that Suresh's memory was not erased, it was all an "act" for Bob, and that Suresh told the Haitian where to find HRG, it just wasn't show.
Peter's scene's were good, wish there was more. Did you see the muscles on Milo V..someone has been working out this summer.
All in all, an ok episode. But Mondays aren't the same to me without New Christine ..2008 is too long to wait.

Two things:
MAYA & ALEJANDRO: Wonder Twin Powers!--ACTIVATE!
The flickering building lights signaling the killer during Mrs. Petrelli's attack: another thing TOTALLY STOLEN by Heroes, this time from BBC's "Jekyll."

Not many have mentioned the fact that Kenzai is a regenerator. Assumption is his main connection is to Hiro. But what if he is a relative of Claire? Are powers a results of heritage or just random? So is the new friend of Claire's somehow related to her too? Just questions I haven't see posed much. I must admit, this Monday came fast as I was occupied with other things. I hope this Monday comes just as soon. Can't wait to see more of Peter. Get back to Nathan ASAP. Everyone can focus more if they aint worried bout you! Well, guess I will hope work, wine, and beer make the next 7 days pass as fast as possible! Anyone else in the Kings Co, CA area agree, I'll see you at happy hour!

I like your commenting, also, Casey. Actually you blended that and recapping nicely for those that haven't seen the episode. It's obvious to me that you're a fan and not just writing this because it's a job. Thanks.
I agree with pretty much everything else that's been said, so I'll just say that Peter without that ridiculous lock of hair is a hottie!
Also, the Irish accents were ridiculous. For a classy production such as Heroes, I would expect the actors to have to do that to perfection or find other actors.
I agree that Hiro's storyline doesn't seem to move the story forward much. Whatever they're trying to accomplish could be done much faster. I'm finding that part of it to be boring.

Bored with Claire/West storyline. It seems so similar to last year's. The worse thing is that it gets a lot of screen time.
I want to see more of the murder mystery but unfortunately that seems to take a backseat to the other plot, which is weird, since it's actually the most interesting plot of them all. Maybe the writers don't want to blow their load all at once but they should give priority to their most interesting storyline.

I agree about the Claire storyline. Plus she seemed pretty mature last year, especially in the last episodes, but this year she acts like she just can't comprehend the reasons her dad wants her to be more reserved. C'mon, she went through hell last season. I'm pretty sure she'd be more aware of the dangers this season.
Last week when I saw West fly, I burst out laughing because it reminded me so much of Peter Pan.
