May 14, 2007: Who's Your Daddy?
Like two little kids in a candy store, Alan and Charlie could not be more giddy over the idea of Teddy (Robert Wagner), becoming their new daddy. Only it wasn't the lure of candy that had these two giggling with excitement. It was more about the "toys" they would get to play with, such as a limo, a private plane, a penthouse suite and ringside tickets to a boxing match in Vegas.
However, the trip to Sin City did serve a larger purpose. Teddy had plans of popping the question to Evelyn, and he wanted Charlie and Alan's blessing to move forward with the proposal. Somewhere between the gelato and the prostitutes, the guys managed to give him their enthusiastic approval. Should they have been at all concerned that Teddy lied to their mother about their little outing, branding it as a business trip? Nah, if anything, I think that indiscretion only scored Teddy more points with them. Besides, they had a wedding to plan now!
The funniest and most shocking point of the night came when Charlie was caught in what appeared to be a dirty little moment: perusing a bridal magazine on the living room sofa. Not to be outdone, Alan uncovered his own secret stash of wedding periodicals, and soon the two of them were blissfully planning a Polynesian ceremony on the beach with tiki torches. It did sound beautiful. Too bad Evelyn had to go and ruin it by rejecting Teddy's proposal.
In a last ditch effort to change their mom's mind, Charlie and Alan set out to convince her to rethink the decision. All I can say is, Evelyn sure does move on quickly. But if I had to choose between Teddy and his small package and her new boy-toy, Hugo (Mike Connors), I'd choose Teddy in a heartbeat. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you see it), fate stepped in and paved the way for a reconciliation between Teddy and Evelyn. With Hugo's timely expiration on Evelyn's couch, it suddenly became clear to her that "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone."
Some of the best lines of the night:
— Charlie, letting Alan know that he wasn't concerned that there might be something wrong with their mom the first time Teddy called: "We'll just wait for Dorothy to bring us the broom."
— Alan, taunting Charlie about his conversation with Teddy on the phone: "You're going to be sorry." Then Charlie responding by saying: "You're going to be homeless."
— Alan, referring to the guy sitting next to him at the boxing match: "I think that might be that snoopy fellow."
— Teddy, referring to the brief boxing match they just watched: "... an 18-second fight. It takes me longer to start peeing."
That'll do it for this season! My thanks to everyone who joined me on this blog and shared their thoughts; it was much appreciated. Have a great summer!!!

Probably the funniest (adult) comedy on TV today. The writing is pure gold. Even Conchata Ferrell's mere 30 seconds was a perfect addition. We whooped when "Mannix" Mike Connors (all 81 years of him) strolled in - what a great cameo! And when he "expired", I just knew that when Evelyn demanded the telephone, rather than calling 911, she was calling Teddy. We hope he is back next season - Robert Wagner would be a phenomenal cast addition.
It's too bad hardly anyone blogs here, but it really is one of the best produced / best acted comedies on TV today. They are in good company, though, because the other "best" show (probably even better written) is "Boston Legal" - and they don't even rate a blog!

Hi WWFan, I don't blog here often but I read every week faithfully. I love this show too. Few comedies on TV today make me truly "guffaw". This is one that does. The sharp and clever wit on this show never fails to get some sort of reaction out of me.
Its a shame that some people think this show is too dirty, risque, or whatever word they choose to use. Personally, I love how they teeter the invisible line of acceptable/unacceptable TV humor. Kinda like South Park does but in a different way.
And thank you to Erin for taking the time to provide a blog for us 2.5Men fans this season. We hope to see you again next season. And I'm with WWFan with the Boston Legal comments. Perhaps you can poke a stick around in the TVGuide writer ant hill and flush out someone who might be willing to write about the awesomeness that is Boston Legal next season? Pretty please?

I wholeheartedly agree with all of you, this is the best written and acted series on tv! Not only that both the writing and the acting are consistent, not up one week and down the next. I would love to have dinner with the writers of this show because if they can keep coming up with storylines and one-liners after all these episodes, think of what they can do 'let out of the box'! I adore the fact that this season especially we were given a little more insight to Charlie's multiple layers and have seen 'the softer side' of him.
KUDOS to all!!!! Again

I agree with both of you 100%. Love the humor of 2 1/2 Men - unfortunately don't get to faithfully watch it but made sure to with Wagner on. Man did he look fantastic and I hope he's on next season too! The lines here come so quickly that I wish I could write them down because unless you repeat them verbatim they lose in the translation - and I'm dying to remember what I thought was the funniest line - the comparison with how "Ted" fell short compared to "Mannix" (fun seeing him!). Agree too about Boston Legal - never miss that one though often it's via taping. Wonder all the time why there's not a blog on that show!!

I'd like to share with all you 2.5 Men fans the Chuck Lorre Productions website. For a split second after every show and before they roll credits they flash Chuck's "Vanity Card". It is usually some comment from him related to the episode we just watched. Here's the link. Season four for 2.5 Men is at the upper right corner. Last night's season finale was vanity card 181. http://www.chucklorre.com/text/ My favorites are 176 where they show photo that was taken of Alan paying his last alimony check. And 174 is the professional photo of Evelyn's "substitute family" taken at Charlie's house from several episodes ago. Add me to the list of people who want to see Robert Wagner added to the regular cast next season! He was great! And what a "wingman" for Charlie!

Generally speaking, adding new characters to a show like 2.5 Men is a warning sign that the writers might be getting tired, but I LOVE the idea of bringing in a step-dad for the Men. And, a grand-step-dad for Jake!!!
I think that Teddy will bring so many new possibilities to the stories next year. I hope he's here to stay, at least for a while!

I LOVE this show!! And that Robert Wagner - he still looks great for a senior senior citizen!! He still is so suave and handsome.
Is this show on DVD yet?
This show is like the Odd Couple - no matter how many times you see an episode, it never loses its freshness and humor.

Great post and fabulous show! I think my favorite line had to be when Charlie and Alan were at their mother's house and Hugo came out and sat on the couch. There was a bowl of mixed nuts on the table and Hugo asked "how old are these nuts?". Alan's response, "From here, about 100 years old."
Subtle but GREAT!

Hi everybody who was smart enough to watch this great adult sitcom. I just finished the episode with my ladyfriend and we have watched 2.5 faithfully all year and always together. Jon Cryer would have been a great Mathew Broderick in "the producers". I just cant believe that they get a way with some of those extremely risque jokes and that they pass the CBS censors. Wow how we have changed and learned to accept. Boston Legal is another superior show that is so clever and witty. My gal and I have never missed an episode of "24" since the show went on the air. Sorry for rambling but we have been witness to Broadway caliber comedies and riveting dramas like "the sheild", "rescue me" and "24". This coming from a guy who watches "young and the restless" everyday and realized that some of their storylines are quite riveting as well. I too was amazed how terrific Robert Wagner looked (especially his hair) and instantly thought of the late and gorgeous Natalie Wood. I hope he has a recurring part as Evelyn's playmate. Can Conchata Farell NOT get any larger?? And does the son always have to be seen eating? He aint getting any skinnier either.

Does anybody remember the line that Evelyn said after she told the boys that the guy she was cheating on Teddy with, was the biggest she ever saw? I can't remember the following line but i remember that i was like "i can't believe they let her say that!!"

I don't know if anyone who has any real power to effect change reads this, but I have a FABULOUS idea for a spin-off of Two And A Half Men: why not give Berta [the always hysterical Conchata Ferrell] her own show??? She could visit a different house/characters each day, with Charlie, et al., being only one day of her week - leading into lots of opportunities for cross overs that fans always love. The writers could go on to write equally quirky and funny people for her to zap and zing, AND we, the humble TV audience, would have LOTS more of Berta to adore!
What do you all think of my idea? I'd watch her, that's for sure!
