Episode Recap: "Let the Truth Sting"
Did someone mention pancakes? Martin Spanjers, Eve Gordon by Scott Garfield
When the episode opened with Alex and Lexie checking each other out in the elevator, I thought we were going to see the two of them getting cozy tonight. That was so not the case. Instead, Alex got tied down with the "old intern," Dr. Norman Shales (Edward Herrmann), who meant well but managed to get in the way more than he helped.
Sticking with the "old dog, new tricks" theme, Dr. Sloan and Dr. Webber decided to take their chances with a radical procedure in order to prove that they still had that magic touch. Their goal was to treat a woman's cancer while preserving her ability to speak. Fortunately for the patient, Derek's last-minute expertise helped to make the surgery a success. The only down-side she faced was dealing with the backlash of the brutally honest confessions she made to her friends shortly before the procedure took place. Yes, I was pretty sure her friends had left the building for good, after having been told that they either "wore their pants too tight," or "had god-awful breath." But they stuck it out, and even managed to give their friend a dose of her own medicine by revealing how they thought her second husband looked like a troll, among other things.
Then there was "the really old guy," who might be better known as the semi-comatose man in the room where the hospital gang used to each lunch. Tonight, we finally got a glimpse into his world, as he offered advice to Izzie, in between confessions that he was ready to die. Charlie, as we later came to know him, proved to be pretty insightful, having heard most of the conversations that went on around him over the course of the last year. He was keen enough to pick up on Izzie's situation with George, and he advised her that she was crazy to think George would leave his wife for her. Of course, he later changed his tune and offered her hope that things might eventually work out for Gizzie, but those words seemed to be said more out of a desire to appease her rather than an actual change of heart. It's too bad Charlie really did check out after tonight's episode, because he made for an interesting fellow and it seems like Izzie really could have used his friendship.
I was disappointed that we didn't get to see more of Cristina tonight, who still managed to make me crack a smile as she played the "poor me, I'm so sad" card to score some of Meredith's surgeries. Her tactic worked for a while, but Mer did finally catch on.
Getting back to Alex, I think he totally let the lecture Bailey gave him on how to treat interns go to his head. Did he really have to ruin things for George by telling the other interns that he was a "repeater?"
There were also a lot of good moments tonight, which included the time Mer took to explain to Lexie exactly what happened the day her mother died at Seattle Grace. It was nice to see the two of them having a real conversation about something that obviously meant a lot to the both of them, as Mer confessed she was really fond of Lexie's mom.
My other favorite moment was when Bailey admitted to Callie that she was having a hard time dealing with the new hospital pecking order, but that she was willing to be the best number two person at Seattle Grace. I was impressed that Bailey offered to help Callie and even suggested that they work together as a team.
And last, but not least: the cat is finally out of the bag! George told Callie that he slept with Izzie. Only now we have to wait until next week to find out if there really will be a lunch-time throw down between the two women in George's life!

Ya know, I REALLY wouldn't mind seeing Izzie get her a$$ kicked by Callie, but I def don't think that's gonna happen. It'd be nice though, maybe smack some of that whinyness out of her...
I really liked the scenes between Meredith and Lexie. I think it was important to show that Lexie was hurt by Meredith said to her last week and even more important that they discuss her mom.
Also great interactions, Meredith and Christina and Derek and Sloan. Not many scenes with them tonite, but the ones they had were good.
Alex is hot again! And he's also an jerk again. Really, did he have to tell the other interns about George? Yeah, George isn't my favorite guy lately, but Alex c'mon! Just mean... but I kinda loved it...
Bailey and Callie seemed to have forged an alliance at a time when it looks like she's really gonna need some help. My heartbroke for her when George told he slept with Izzie. She knew what he was gonna tell her, but you could she really wanted to be wrong.
Overall, tonite was a pretty solid episode... Grey's is comin back to us, i can feel it...

Yes it was necessary for Alex to out George. Why was he lying in the first place? Too ashamed to admit to failure? Can't hack the disappointment? Well suck it up. Lying to his fellow interns in the first place is the problem, not Alex outing him.
He's big on the truth right? Wasn't that what he told the woman who had the surgery tonight? Isn't that what he's all about when it came to revealing to his wife that he'd cheated on her and was about to leave her? Well then he should be able to handle some truth compliments Alex, who I'm very glad to see has not lost his knack for pulling George off the pedestal that he allows others to put him on.

Thank goodness for Life, the new show on NBC, because I really have to give up on Grey's, and I'd like to have at least one show I really enjoy. I never could understand the Grizzie thing; it felt contrived, and I just can't stand for George to trash his wife. If they were going for another triangle thing, ala Meredith-Derek-Addison, this is not it.
Buh-bye, Grey's.

I've enjoyed the season so far. Been more fun and less downbeat than the last ep last season.
Still hate this Gizzie arrangement. I can't believe how much I despise Izzie now. Just about every action that she does turns my stomach. I would love to see Callie knock her out. I personally would applaud that. I think a Callie-Bailey partnership will be good. They are both driven and both quality doctors, so they can help each other out tremendously.
Good point by Derek to the other two. That procedure probably shouldn't have been attempted if they didn't know what they were doing. Luckily it worked out fine.
I am liking Christina more and more these days. She just cracks me up with some of the stuff she does. The sad routine was classic.
At first I thought what Alex did to George wasn't right. But thinking about it, it probably was needed. It was good for George to be pulled down a peg for this and for what he did to Callie. He shouldn't have been getting all these accolades for something he has already done before.
I also enjoyed the conversation in the end between Meredith and Lexie. It was nice.
Here's hoping for a beat down on Izzie by Callie next week.

I don't know about the rest of you, but this season is not nearly as good as the first two! I am even considering bailing on my once favorite show. I'm not sure what is exactly to blame...storylines, poorer writing, or what, but if it doesn't get better soon I am not going to be able to watch anymore. Anyone out there agree? The first season was so gripping and the acting and storylines were superb...please get that back! Also, a stellar replacement for Burke is a must!

You know, a lot of people want Callie to give Izzie a beat down. Well, I hope she rises above both Izzie and George. I hope Izzie is standing there, waiting for a fight, and Callie just pulls off her wedding ring, drops it into Izzie's hand and says " you know what you can have him, he's not worth it" Because Callie is worth so much more than cafeteria fights over a man who doesn't deserve her. Ok, maybe she can deck her once, then give her the ring. Or give her the ring then deck her, so it's totally unexpected.
Also, I think Izzie only wants what she can't have, so let's see how she reacts with something she can have.

I rather enjoyed last night's episode. Here's my little comments:
I'm actually glad that Charlie passed away...too many times these doctors become overly involved with their patients. Izzie might need a friend, but it would be far healthier for her to have one that isn't her patient.
I'm glad Alex let out George's secret. I was getting tired of "nice" Alex. Hopefully he'll be back to his regular mean self!!!
I am really liking Lexie Grey, she seems a great addition to the show!!!
As for next week, I'm hoping that Callie doesn't fight Izzie or that she doesn't even fight for George...I'd actually be happier if she just let his sorry-self go...he's a (cute) disaster!!!

I haven't seen the show yet, but since George and Izzie make me sick, I love Alex for raining on George's parade. And I can't wait for someone to rain on Izzie's. She is the most selfish character on the show.

I thought it was kinda of a Blah episode. It didn't really do much for me.

Really can't add anything more to the positive stuff already posted. Good points all. I love this show, although did we really have to see the eye procedure so up close and personal - and set to some love ballad? If thats the worst I can say about a show, I'm happy.
But could you beleive it when Izzie started pulling out the rest of Charlie's wires? Geez, after Denny wouldn't she know better than to not even joke about something like that? Nice dig Christina, she needed that. Iz needs to grow up soon and focus on her career instead of acting like a lovesick 14 year old - I bet she even has "I heart G" on her clipboard!

I can't believe no one mentioned my favorite line of the night, courtesy of Bailey: "This is not the island of misfit interns!"

Last night was great BTW my money is on Callie beating the crap out of Izzy and she should kick georges pansy behind as well. How are you just gonna cheat on a very beautiful woman for izzy she is not really all of that.
Christine she is a mess " I am sad" "me so sad " classic christine uses anything and everything to get what she wants
I am glad that bailey told Meredith to be nice to lexie and tell her the truth about her mother.
I am glad that Alex knock george off of his high horse
can't wait for the next episode

Grey's really needs to stop with Izzie's speeches. It was never cute and made her seem even more sanctimonious and self centered.
I do not want Callie to throw down with Izzie. I would prefer her to tell Izzie about herself and how she will not accept nasty behavior from her anymore especially at the hospital and that she can have wishy washy George. Then walk away and leave Izzie there with an egg on her face.
