Episode Recap: "No Campus for Old Rules"
So sorry for the delay! Due to a suddenly broken TiVo and other technical difficulties, I wasn’t able to catch this episode until it replayed Tuesday at midnight. (That’s right I stayed up just for you!) We’ve already waited long enough, let’s not waste any time and get right to the good stuff.
Apparently CRU has an amazing basketball team and the whole school is pumped up for the championship game. From a Greek lottery for courtside seats to spirit socials at a local bar, there are plenty of reasons for Greeks on campus to get excited. But unfortunately not everyone can partake in the fun.
A few ZBZs—including Ashleigh—didn’t hit the books and now must make up that time during social events. Ashleigh explained that she missed study hours because she was in meetings planning all of the social events of the week. As president Casey pardoned Ashleigh, a move that none of the pledges stuck staying in (i.e. Rebecca Logan) were too happy about it. Sick of hearing the pledges whisper about her, Casey apologized and pardoned the pledges for that week too. A noble gesture, yes, but Casey started to lose her authority over the house.
After 25 years, Kappa Tau won courtside seats to the championship game via the all-Greek lottery. The boys can bring guests and Rusty asked Tina (yeah hardcore U-SAG Tina) to join him. A cute moment was in the making until Rusty explained how he scored the seats. An all-Greek lottery gave Dale and Tina the fuel they needed to keep the U-SAG fire burning.
Cappie complained to Dean Bowman about the tickets with sandwich metaphors and then went on to show him just how silly the Greek restrictions with a fake ticket written in crayon. Dean Bowman (sporting a new goatee, not his best look) called Cappie’s bluff and invited him to speak on behalf of the Greeks at the board meeting. Wow, the future of Greek life on campus in Cappie’s hands? This is big, even Evan offered to help Cappie out—though Cappie promptly rejected “Evanescence’s” help. Things are not looking so good.
Casey vented to Evan about her situation at ZBZ and it turns out Evan gives good advice. He suggested she talk to Frannie who told Casey she will lose control if she keeps trying to win everyone over with honey. Casey opened a forum, allowed the girls to complain and when things got out of control, she shut everyone up and showed them who is in charge.
Rusty realized that while Tina infuriates him, he actually has a giant crush on her. In probably the most awkward way possible, Rusty and Tina hooked up her dorm.
All gloves were off at the big board meeting. Dale delivered a compelling speech, until he got all fire and brimstone. Cappie’s speech could have been decent had he not been cut off after two minutes. Luckily Evan stepped in and pointed out that many board members had their own wild moments back in college. Restrictions were lifted and the Greek community rejoiced. Parties were in full force while Dale sulked alone in the dark. Tina called Rusty (I guess that’s going to last) and Dean Bowman relived his college days with old flaming bag prank. Seems highly unlikely, but still a classic.
So who’s happy the restrictions are over with? Who was shocked by Dean Bowman’s past? Rusty and Tina?

Did anyone else catch the Ferris reference? When Dean Bowman was leaving with his date (in a nice little sports car mind you), and the Kappa Tau boys were harassing him, he got out of the car and told his lady friend to wait a minute. Said lady friend's name? Sloane. Anyone else or was I too tired from the late night viewing?

I'm glad the restrictions are over... and about Rusty and Tina... Dean Bowman's past should come as no surprise b.c. we all should know by now that adults in positions of authority always end up eating their words later.
And how about that nice Ferris Bueller's referece? anyone else notice that Dean Bowman's (aka Cameron Frye, aka Ferris' BFF and sidekick) date's name was Sloane? - the same as Ferris' girlfriend. And nice cherry red convertible, too.

I really like the characters on this show. They are multi-dimensional and complex, ie Evan. Last week I was shaking my finger at him for bribing that guy to dump Cassie but, in this episode he steps it up and helps Cappie out. So he's not all evil, right?
Of course they comedy was there too...except I am confused about something. Who is Donna Martin? Beaver was yelling it out on the lawn and everyone looked around at him like he was crazy. Did I miss something?
Also, Tina and Rusty. Yea. Umm...well she is different than Jen K. but I am not sure how they are developing that whole relationship. I'm in a 'wait and see' stance. Does Tina remind anyone else of Paris on Gilmore Girls or is it just me? At first I hated her but over time she grew on me. Maybe the same will happen with Tina?

First and foremost, Infamous_JR, Donna Martin was a character on 90210. After being caught drunk at prom, she wasn't going to be allowed to graduate, until the entire Jr. and Sr. class ditched their finals to appeal the decision, all the while chanting, "Donna Martin graduates" about a million times. Personally, it was one of the highlights of Monday's episodes.
The other, was the thawing relationship between Cappie and Evan. It was nice to see them looking out for eachother.
Does anyone thing the season is leading to a Frannie/Evan hook up? They are sharing more and more screen time together, and as much as I hate to admit it, they do make sense together. Powerful with just a touch of evil. Love it!

Loved, loved, loved the "Donna Martin graduates" moment. It made me burst out with laughter and scare the dog. Greek makes me miss the days of 90210 TV.
