Got Comments?

I'm looking for a big-time assist tonight, ER fans. The network gods are playing a cruel joke on me as two of the shows that I blog are airing at the exact same time. With only one Tivo, I am at a loss.

Here's what I know about tonight's episode:
—The episode is called "Truth Will Out"
—Acadmey Award nominee Hal Holbrook guest stars as a cancer patient.
—Abby makes a comeback.
—Sopranos star Aida Turturro continues her guest arc.

Now I need you guys to fill in the blanks. Please chime in and share your thoughts until I am able to catch up.

OK, it was really scary when they totally stole that exploding ambulance scene from General Hospital: Night Shift.

Wow...sad one tonight. I liked the montage type thing at the end where it went from Sam and tony, to pratt, to the mom with 13 kids, neela and the sopranos lady, etc...that was a nice scene. Wish they would have ended it there though - talk about rip my HEART out with Luka saying he's going to move out... ughh come on. I guess the writers aren't done with putting them (and us) through the ringer quite yet. Although, i guess it would have been unrealistic for him to be totally cool with it all so quickly...but still...

Loved it when Neela yelled at Aussie boy! The Korean kid was awesome... Fun to see Abby back and being all cool again - wonder what's going to happen with her since she interviewed for the attending position - she must not get it or something?? Who knows....

And scenes for next week - looks like another hospital hold up (gotta have one every few years you know..) and maybe morris is the hero this time?? weird!

Argh! I'm so sick of Abby and Luka fighting, they had better come through with a happy ending for this couple. It just feels like they want everyone to be miserable on this show. No one gets happiness unless they leave the show. I truly hope it works out for them. Brenner is so smug, and we found out he's the nephew of Anspaw (sp?). So of course this guy can do no wrong right? Wrong! I am happy Neela yelled at him for telling them the korean kid had cancer on the speaker phone. The guy had no tact!
And finally, I actually agree with Dubenko about Skye, she's basically a paycheck away from being a hooker. She doesn't seem like she is interested in a relationship, she said so herself, no strings attached sex. I knew Dubenko couldn't handle it. I really don't see him with her. I honestly have come around to the idea of Dubenko and Neela, they seem like they would be a great couple.
Sorry I'm not a ray/neela fan. I think he will come back and they will make their peace and he will leave with that other chick who was rude to neela. I think its meant to be!

Oh one last thing, loved the joke about Morris longest relationship was with a blow up doll. LOL!

I agree with everyone about Abby and Luka. She is so my favorite. Thanks for letting her show how strong she is and what an outstanding doctor she is with the birth scene. I believe she will get the attending position.
I want her and Luka to be together so bad because she deserves to be happy. I'm going to say it again, she's been through so much. This is her time.

I also can't stand Brenner. I had to post last night because he got on my nerves so bad. Loved it when Neela told him off. He did sound like he was smiling through the phone.

Also loved the way they did the end scene. Kinda like Grey's Anatomy but loved it and hated to hear Luka is moving out.

Last night's episode was great. I was glad to see Neela go off on Brenner, loved Morris giving advice about what women like to Pratt, and I even liked Tony telling Sam to 'stop being so nutty'. Even though I knew it would be unrealistic for Luka to forgive Abby too soon, it was still heartbreaking and a bit surprising to hear him say he was moving out. But I'm sure the writers wouldn't be so cruel as to leave it like that between them.

Good episode but I wanted to scream when Luka told Abby he has to move out. For fear of waking my own 2.5 yr. old up that was asleep on my lap, I didn't. I do have to say that my eyes filled with tears a little. Yes, I'm that much of a sentimental dork. ha. I think him taking a job as a hospice doctor will be interesting considering he can't forgive himself for not being able to make his father well so how will he deal with everyone of his patients dying? I guess that remains to be seen. I can't really comment on much else of the episode because I was so just so intrigued by Abby and Luka's storyline that I didn't pay too much attention to the rest. Oh, I do have to say that I liked when Abby yelled at Sam and how Sam apologized for being so judgemental. Sam admitted to Abby that she had grown up around a lot of people with big problems and it was hard for her to be ra-ra about Abby working really hard at "fixing" herself. I almost fell over laughing when Abby just replied with, "I hate ra-ra." Seems like Abby and Sam will be alright. I just wish I could say the same for Abby and Luka!

I know our time with Luka and Abby is very limited this season, that's why I was so hoping that the writers would let us enjoy the cute sweet moments of this couple before they go. Instead it seems we are just getting lots of sad bitter ones.

While I have faith this couple will find happiness when they finally say goodbye to the ER, it's too bad the writers couldn't let the fans enjoy what makes this couple so great during their final season.

As for ER itself, it's been scary when Abby and Luka are MIA and isn’t painting a very pretty picture of what the show will be like next season. Maybe it’s just me but I'm not seeing characters in place to fill the void of the ones leaving. When Carol left we had Abby, when Mark left we had Carter, and when Carter left we had Luka. Who do we have to replace Abby and Luka? The cast is so small compared to past seasons and seems to be filled with so many unlikeable characters. So many are stereotyped and one dimensional that they don't make me care what happens to them. Plus, is it just me or has almost every new character in the last two years has been a jerk? While I’m keeping my fingers crossed that ER will correct this problem, I’m starting to get really nervous and sad.

kitten - but what about Skye's gift to Debenko of the Barbie with the goggles? I think she always used sex as a way of distancing herself from men, and just when he was breaking thru he got all possessive on her. He blew it IMHO.

I was moving some stuff around at the very end, and when Luka said he had to move out it took a second. I literally stopped and said, "did he just say he was moving out?" and had to rewind. BOO! But I guess it is realistic, 'cuz she told him she cheated right?

Yes, these ER writers love to give us misery. I realized several years ago that the way they write this show and the way it makes me feel spills over into other shows I watch. I am always expecting something horrible to happen (on other shows), and it's because the horrible is the norm for this show. I think they are sadistic bastards that like to torment us. lol

13 kids! I love when the mom was told, by the baby doc no less, "Are you crazy?!" Thank you for saying what most of us must have been thinking. Just 'cuz a vasectomy doesn't take you go on to have, what, 5 more? Holy crow! No way would I let my hubby have sex with me after 5 let alone 8, 10, or 12. lol

What was up with Archie looking in on the kids at the end? Was he thinking about all the kids he fathered? Here's a guy who wants a big ole family I guess.

How did you guys feel about Sam making the effort with Tony at the end? It was romantic, but was it too fast?

And I am totally with Morris! Women love cupcakes (esp. with sprinkles).

Why did Greg give up at the last minute? Did he decide he didn't want to deal with her cancer afterall? I really was hoping for a nice scene when she opened the door. (wait, CQ, read above paragraph about writers tormenting us.)

I've been a huge ER fan for many years, and I'm finding it hard to "get to know" the newer characters that are on there now. We've been through a lot with Abby, Luka, Sam, Frank, Greg, and Neela, but we've just had the others kind of thrust on us (Skye, Dubenko, Brenner, and some of the new interns and residents who I can't even remember their names). What was great about the ER of old is getting to know these characters and coming to care about them. I honestly don't care about most of the newbies - not that the actors aren't good, it's just that we haven't had a chance to get to know them and then care about them. With only one year left of the show, (with no Abby and Luka) who's going to be left for us to care about?

Count me in as another Abby/Luka fan (especially Abby) who is upset at yet another downturn in their relationship.
Luka's decision to move out was surprising, but I can see how he can't get past Abby's betrayal (at least not yet). But it was good to see Abby back in top form in the ER.

I agree that there have been several unlikeable characters coming & going in recent seasons. I'm glad Moretti is gone (what a waste of time that was--unless it was all a set-up for Abby to cheat after falling off the wagon). I agree with Dubenko that Skye's no-strings attitude toward her relationships with men is a cop-out. But I see hope for her, if she takes the time to consider that he may be right. Brenner is a total ass, and I'd like to see him go ASAP--Anspaugh or no Anspaugh. I think, and I hope, that the writers will shake out the irritating characters before next season. I'm sure they want to end the series with all cylinders firing.

I liked Tony telling Sam to stop being so "nutty." It was smart of her to actually express her feelings for him instead of attempting to be so non-chalant about him in the ER.

And I still think Morris is a hoot!

From what I've read, Carter will back next year for several episodes. Maybe that will help.

I'm also a "fan" of the Abby/Luka relationship. Until now, Luka seems to have bounced around from woman to woman, more than Dr. Ross, if that's possible! He and Abby make sense, so you think, despite his hurt, as a doctor, he'd be able to understand that alcoholics do uncharacteristic and sometimes awful things during a blackout (the ep. was appropriately named). I hope Goran stays--he's excellent (and gorgeous!).

Yes, Stanley Tucci was wasted (mostly) as Moretti. Did you catch him as an unhinged actor on "Monk"? Hilarious!

I disagree with Dubenko's pushing Skye to go against her belief in no commitment. She warned him, so, though it's not surprising (most men will SAY they can handle it, just to get sex & then blame the woman when they get jealous!), he should have realized that the mess was his own fault for not being honest with himself about what HE wanted.

I hope the show cuts back on the frequency of random violence and tragedy, especially one trauma after another on the same characters (Abby, Sam, for instance).

I'd like to see Carter back, but not the high-minded do-gooder he became while in Africa. He's better as a flawed, yet sincere rich kid.

I'm a long time viewer of ER. I loved Mark, Doug, Carol, Carter and Benton and miss them all. I love that Carter is coming back, but I hope as someone else said not all wimpy as he has been. I couldn't STAND the woman he went back to. I hated the character and hope Carter comes back with out her and not all wimpy and mopey because of it.

I do love Luka and Abby. Abby is just a very likable person and you want to see her do well. Laura Tierney is so good in the role and you believe her character. Normally I' not a fan of "happy endings" but I do hope the ER writers write one for them. There has been too much tragedy for them and to end their story happily is what the characters both deserve.

I like Sam, have from the beginning but not a big fan of Tony. He will end up leaving her because he gets bored with women. I recently saw a re-run of Sam with the big handsome firefighter, the one who she kicked in the self defense class and took out his knee. There was real chemistry between them. I would love to see him come back and Sam make a real love connection for good. I am glad that her son has been written out of the show. I didn't care for the kid and found him very annoying. All kids on this show, except for babies are annoying or is that just me??

Neela...a wonderful character and she is showing how strong she is. She has grown from a shy, smart doctor in training to a self assured confident yet still vulnerable surgeon. If something ever happened to me and I saw Neela looking down at me, I'd rest easy. It would be great to see her personal life get back to something good, but Neela can do well with out a relationship. Maybe seeing her end this show as a single woman, dedicated to her job for now is the place she needs to be. I would love to see her make peace with Ray, and maybe leave a "hint" that they could make a love connection in the future. I liked Ray with Neela and would like to see at least hope that it could and probably will happen even if it's never shown.

Debunko and Skye are a joke. I never liked Skye, and felt sorry for Debunko and liked his character when he comes across as manic rather then sad and mopey over some slutty woman. Get rid of her. If he must have a love connection, give him one that suits his character.

Tony is OK, but I don't care for him. He's a user of women and not in a "fun" way like Doug was. Doug always loved Carol and every one knew it, it just took a long time for Doug and Carol to figure that out. Tony doesn't love anyone but Tony. End of story.

Greg…Greg is a classy guy and I’ve always liked him, but he seems a bit lost this year. When he first came on he was a gun how, ‘super doc” now he seems to just sit by and let all the newbies steal his show. I love it when he stands up to Tony or some of the other docs, because 9 times out of 10 he’s right. He is a bit of a womanizer and I do hope he comes to term with his new gal and helps her through her illness. It would show he’s grown and not just into “himself” like Tony is.

The one thing this show is missing is its Mark character. Since Anthony Edwards left, no character has come close to how good he was as a doctor, and a human being. ER never could replace him, and the show lost a lot. The Luka character tried, but came up short. Mark has always been ER to me.

I am anxious to see what ER has in store for next year. I never missed an episode and don't plan to. This is the ONE TV show that I can laugh at (Morris although I didn't like his character at first, I enjoy his antics now…and come on who didn’t giggle at Rocket Romano’s comments/insults/quips?) and made me cry (when Corday told a man who just lost his wife how she missed Mark, and how another Man whose wife had died from cancer how he lost his soul mate I cried like a baby!!) I will miss the show when it ends and only hope that NBC and the writers give it a good ending.
