Ah, the wonders of technology! Even while I am away on vacation in the beautiful Canadian Rockies, I am still able to, at the very least, set up a place for you guys to chat about this week's ER episode.

I will not be able to blog this week, so I will be counting on you to chat about the happenings. I'll rejoin the conversation next week.

See you soon!

I know this is off topic and i am sorry but we are desperate. I dont know if anyone here has seen Journeyman (NBC) yet or not but I am here to inform you that it was in my oppinion one of the best shows of the season and it only got better as time went on. Journeyman was a show that put you on the edge of your seat from day one wondering what just happened and what is going to happen next. And now NBC is not renewig the show because not enough people have watched it.

Journeyman was a show about a time traveler named Dan Vasser. Dan was engaged to a woman named Livia (who he finds out later is also a time traveler) but livia dies in a plane crash. Dan takes it really hard and starts gambling and getting into some trouble, Katie who is his brothers girlfriend, leaves his brother and comforts Dan and they end up falling in love and getting married and having a son named Zack.

Well when Dan time travels he finds out that Livia traveled right before the plane went down and is now traveling again like dan is. Dan goes on these missions when he travels, he seems to track the lives of people and in the end he ends up saving their lives or helping them out in some way and that in turn changes the future.

While doing all of this Dan must also try to hold on to his family at home and try to convince everyone, his brother Jack especially, that he is not crazy.

Journeyman is a fantastic show! I am asking you to go to nbc.com and start watching the full episodes there, the show does start off a little slow but it really gets good around the emily and blowback two parter. If you watch it give it some time to explain everything. So please go watch the show, and if you fall in love like i can almost guarentee you will then please join the fight to save this show! Please we cant let Journeyman get cut like this it is too good to be let go.

Here is the site at nbc.com that you can watch the episodes at! Give Journeyman a chance! Pleae help us save this amazing show!

Ok, I'm hoping that I got on the right blog, b/c I need to rave!!! That episode "Atonement," tonight on ER stunk!!! If only b/c they seem to be getting RID of the Chaplain character. WHAT?! I watch this show all these yrs, hoping against hope that someone, some one writer on some one medical show will include a regular character that's a Chaplain. I FINALLY get that in the wonderful, most creative writers of ER, and what do they go and do tonight?? Well...it looks like they've cut the character. And, my guess is that, if they have, it's simply b/c people/viewers can't seem to take genuine, real-life portrayals of clergy on television!?!? I'm suddenly having flashbacks of "Something Sacred," which, I might add was a super-fantastic show until the Catholic League had to shut it down. Don't get me wrong...I'm not pointing the finger at the CL, I'm just expressing how terribly disapointed I will be if she/the Chaplain has been cut in favor of ratings. I also have got to point out that I don't rant and rave in a vacuum, here, I myself am a recent seminary grad who happens to want to go into ER/Trauma Chaplaincy, and I was SO happy to finally see an interesting and genuine character on tv...I just hoped it would last longer. :( Finally, I want to point out that I didn't mind the portrayal of the conflict btwn the patient and Julie..in fact I think it was pretty authentic. Based on my experience working in a hospital, ALL employees, including the Chaplains, screw up now and then. I think it's good for our egos. Reality check. Anyway..I wanted to urge those involved in ER to PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE keep Julie in the storyline. I've waited so long to watch a character I could relate to, and I just don't want to say good-bye so soon. Ty!

(from the show...)
"Shut up."
<passionate smooch>
"I hate you."
"I hate you, too."

(from me...)
<rich, hearty, happy laugh>

I officially, categorically like Sam and Tony as a couple. These characters (so I keep telling myself) interact beautifully and their professional tension is an interesting backdrop to their personal attraction.

That managed to take a major amount of sting out of tonight's episode. Send Abby to join Luka and Joe in Croatia and what are we left with?... Clown Hockey. Worse: Neela in the thick of it. There aren't enough Rolaids in the world to choke this down as befitting one of television history's most celebrated dramas.

Now that Pratt is trying so hard to be a grownup (a neat recurring theme I'm enjoying this season), I'm a little disappointed that Bettina seems less than willing to give him another chance. Yes, I said last week that I've only recently warmed up to Greg, but I would still like to see things work out for him as much as I would any other character that I like. (Especially since increasing signs seem to be pointing to this season being the Ending; I want it to be Happy one.) He is learning to recognize his own shortcomings and is growing ever more proficient at actually listening to people. He's legitimately trying to be a better man. Who wouldn't respect that in a person?

Sad to witness Julia's crisis of faith, but credit to Reiko Aylesworth for her heartfelt and profoundly believable portrayal (seemingly her swan song, given the developments with Tony...).

Harold is still Bozo. Morris is now Flunky. And long live Samny. (...fine: feel free to come up with a better one... ;) )

Did anyone notice what Bettina was saying before Greg walked into her office near the end of the ep? It was something about what would that do except make him feel guilty, too. Does anyone think that means she might be pregnant? Or what?

About Julia, the chaplain, as a Christian I don't like her all over the map new age thinking, and because of it she couldn't answer tonight's patient's questions. But I wish they could have given her character a better sendoff, if this was indeed her last episode.

Yep, I too suspect that Bettina is pregnant.

I understand irshgrrl1's point of view, but honestly, I didn't care for the "chaplain". I'm sure there is a better choice than one who just comes off as a big flake and one I would never take seriously. If I was a patient I'd probably wonder if she was a psych patient. Sorry.

Other than the hockey game, I did like this episode. Those likeable episodes (for me) are getting few and far between, but I was pulled into the story of the doctor/executioner. Perhaps some of that was the actor, who I've enjoyed for years.

What was amazing to me was that I didn't really miss Abby. Love her, want her back, but somehow wasn't feeling her loss so much.

Well I for one certainly DID miss Abby!
Only a week ago I was celebrating her return, and now I've had to go through another episode without her.

I think the hockey game was good for a few laughs, but it didn't have to take up so much of the episode.
Funny how the docs didn't even blink when they saw Skye and Dubenko in the tub together.

The scenes with the prison doctor were absolutely gut-wrenching. His emotional pain was almost unbearable to watch. How could anyone say that this show is not still capable of creating some of the most powerful drama on television?

I guess Sam and Tony sealing their back & forth with a kiss was inevitable, and I'm okay with that. Let's just hope it sticks for both of them this time!

I'm not so broken up with Julie (probably) leaving, although she is an interesting character.

Irishgrrl1, despite your goal to have a career as a chaplain, what's with the crusade to have more chaplains/clergy on TV? I've never noticed a shortage of them on most dramas when a main character ends up in the hospital. And you can bet a good deal of money that writing Julie out of the show had nothing to do with ratings. Besides, we're in enough danger of becoming a "Christian nation", thanks to some current presidential candidates, so I personally don't need to see a plethora of clergy appearing on my favorite entertainment programs.

Just give me more Abby for the remaining episodes of the season.

Terrible, terrible episode. The hockey thing was so ridiculous. The only funny part was the end, when they all ended up in the PT tubs.

I really hope this is the last year for this once great show.

My mind didn't go to Bettina being prego - it went to her being sick or something. Pregnant makes sense - but we've done the unexpected baby thing numerous times over the years in County.

Sadly, it does look like the end of Reiko Aylesworth's "Julia" character ... but whoever needs to get out of the way for the development of a Sam/Tony relationship really should be dispatched. Their final exchange was totally great - loved, loved, loved it.

The hockey game was a great break and distraction from the prison doc/ailing l'il boy drama in the trauma rooms. I love anything that takes the docs out of the walls of County (well, except for the Africa storylines) and let's them expand their personalities a little bit.

The freakin' hot tub scene had me in hysterics, too ... how much did you love Harold's goggles & man-boobs!? And the way Skye & Lucien just sat there in their tub, watching everyone else stroll on in ... too funny.

So here's my question - how soon do we need to start writing letters to NBC to ensure that ER gets a 15th season to wrap the show up properly? I know that Maura Tierney has said this would be her last season - but the strike chopped us off at 13 episodes - and I can't imagine that the last time we saw Abby was, well, the last time we'd see Abby! The same goes for the show as a whole ... there are 14 years of memories and amazing performances that need to be nicely tied up for the viewers who've been around since the day that Carole Hathaway tried to kill herself. To not reward those viewers (read: ME!) with something satisfying would just be plain ole' wrong.

SupahStah:

I agree 100% with everything you said.
I'd love to see "ER" go out in style, and I especially want Maura Tierney's final episodes to be satisfying and written in the manner the producers/writers have intended, before the strike messed up everything.

She emerged as the true star of the show several years ago, and I've been watching it faithfully mostly because of her.

Hurry back, Abby!

what a fantastic episode! as usual, the guest star was exceptional (sorry, i recognize him, but can't remember his name), and I loved the hockey scenes, what a hoot. and the "hot tub" scene.....I'm one of the few that liked the Neela/Gates combo the best, but everyone has been calling for the Gates/whatsherface hook up, so we'll see how it goes (i'm horrible at names, have you noticed?)O

I, for one, still love ER. I'd like to see it go for many more seasons. Of course it is up and down, but ER, like most other shows, has ALWAYS been like that. For me last night's episode was not one of the "greats" but it was a normal ER episode. And there's nothing wrong with having a regular ole episode once in a while. Not every show has to be "special" and "touching". That being said, I do worry about the show if Luka and Abby leave. With them gone last night it was like something was missing. There is no clear "star" of the show if those two are to leave. Pratt, Neela, Morris, or Sam (the longer running characters on the show) just aren't an Abby, Carter, Luka, Dr. Greene, or any of the others from the past. So I hope Maura stays on and ER does at least two more shortened seasons. Abby is by far my favorite character and I agree with the poster who said she has emerged as the star of the show.
I also am a little into Skye, but her character needs a little while to develop more. She's being introduced very similarly to the way Luka was.

Loved Neela's dance after scoring a point. That scene with the former prison doctor and Julia was pretty harrowing. And his reaction after the mother says he is still not exonerated even after her son recovered put a lump in my throat. So it was a nice surprise that just when it seemed he might actually succeed in injucting himself to death like he did to so many others over the years that Dr. Pratt stopped him in time and told him how God truly gave him a gift. And, yes, it would be nice if Ms. Tierny (sorry if I spelled that wrong) would agree to another season if only because of how the writers' strike has affected the rest of the season (though I would still love it if they got most of what they demand).

While it's not the best ep, I personally loved the hockey game!! I really did!! I thought Neela was soo cute. I love it when she gets all feisty. And Morris def had it coming! I laughed myself silly when Neela sai "get off of him you w@nker"! LOL!!

I also thought it was funny how no one seemed to blink when a naked Skye and Dubenko were inside the tub...if my ER chief was sitting naked in front of me, I would've at least look surprised! LOL!!!

I really did miss Abby and I won't miss the Chaplain at all...I was surprised she was so rattled by the cancer patient. Granted, it wasn't pleasant that I don't think it was enough to chase her out of the room and her getting all emotional. Maybe it's just me.

Well, the hockey game was an interesting twist, as long as it is not in every episode....the tub scene was hilarious.
I was laughing too at the Sam/Tony exchange with the kiss and "I hate you's" and Tony with the perplexed look on his face.
The prison doctor was heart wrenching, the lack of forgiveness on the part of the young woman was horrific to see for me. About Julia, when you go all over the board with all religions it will bring you a confused state, her statement that sometimes it is easier to bear guilt than take forgiveness though is so true.
I did appreciate how Pratt stepped in with his speech at the end both to the prison doctor and then to Bettina. I wondered about what she was saying on the phone as well!
