May 6, 2007: The King Just Left the Building

“He would have never let this happen.” Damn right, Vince. But this is exactly what happens when you think with the lower half of your body, son. The depth of Ari’s commitment to his former client was evident in his willingness to skirt just about all the traditions of his religious heritage (and risk Mrs. Ari’s wrath) to broker the "Medellin" deal. And although it looks like the deal is dead, we all know that Vince was born to play Pablo Escobar.

So it looks like Amanda might be out of the picture, and I have to admit, I won’t miss her all that much. Although I thought Carla Gugino did a great job in the first few episodes, once she and Vince took their relationship to another level, I lost interest. I think it would have made for a much more intriguing story line if they had kept it strictly professional, if the woman trying to "sell" Vince was actually immune to his charms. Instead, things played out like a bad cliché, though Amanda quickly regained the upper hand in the restaurant as she coolly informed Vincent that they were done. (Personally and professionally, one would assume.) If she was bluffing, she was outstanding at it. (I am the worst bluffer in the history of bluffing, so I admire the good ones.)

Meanwhile, I found the story line with Johnny and the horse to be totally absurd. Someone commented last week that he is starting to come across like a bad sitcom character, and this week I have to agree with that assessment. The best part of Johnny’s humor is that it has always seemed organic to the character and in these last few episodes, it really feels like the writers are trying too hard to create humor around him. The result has been very cartoonish. Just stay true to the character and let Johnny be Johnny. The humor will flow like… well, just think back to that scene on the driveway when they brought the horse to the house.

Finally, some amusing words of wisdom from tonight's episode:

— Ari to his tween daughter when she complained that she was hungry from fasting: “Now you know what Mommy goes through every day to make a hot body for Daddy.”
— Johnny talking to the boys about Amanda: “She’d go to the Gaza Strip in a yarmulke for Vince.”
— Amanda to her nemesis: “Stop wasting time, Ari. You’ve got a lot of begging for God’s forgiveness to get back to.”
— Ari, on one of the virtues of being Jewish: “That is the beauty of Yom Kippur. As long as you apologize by sundown, it doesn’t matter what you do.”
— Turtle to Drama, as he yells out the window for King: “He’s a horse, Drama, not a housecat. I think we’d see him if he was around.”

Next week, a reunion, perhaps? We'll see. In the meantime, can't wait for more Entourage? Check out our Online Video Guide.

Agree on the horse storyline. It was beyond bad and the worst thing they have ever done on the show. There was so much good stuff in watching Ari trying to get around religious tradition they didn't even need the horse storyline.

The horse plot was stupid. Drama is really starting to get on my nerves. He's such a ridiculous character... I've never liked him much but now it's just getting annoying.

Liked the Ari storyline and glad to see that Vince will be back with Ari, I hope. I also hope he can finally get Medellin because of sick of hearing about it for two years!

Agree with everyone else that the horse storyline was just filler to give Drama something to do. I feel like the writers need to go back and watch the first two seasons again because they are getting way off track with the characters. Drama is best in small doses and his humour comes from his unflailing ability to never lose face in the face of all the humiliation he endures. That and the weird Drama-isms. Like his definition of what makes a giggle as opposed to a laugh. That cracked me up.

Aside from the Mr. Ed deal, I thought last night's episode was probably the best of the new ones so far, mostly in part to Adam Goldberg and Jeremy Piven sweating, cursing and trying to break the rules during Yom Kippur. That's the Entourage I missed and I hope we see more of that. I hope this is also the last we see of Amanda (has it been 6 episodes already?). I agree, I was loving her at first but as soon as she and Vince hit the sheets, it was over. I really did want to see her and E face off though but right now I'm more interested in the boys getting Medellin. I want Vince to do a movie already!

I actually love Drama, so these last couple of episodes have really bugged me in terms of how absurd his character has been. A horse? Whatever.

Anyways, I was just glad to see Ari being Ari. The fact that with all the manic attempted deal-making, he still found the time to undermine Amanda was classic. But one of the funniest lines was when the other guy (sorry I can't remember the character's name) was all "it's Med-a-yeen! Why can't anyone pronounce it right??" I totally lolled.

The horse storyline was out there, but delivering the horse to Ed Burns made me laugh out loud.

I too am ready for Amanda to leave, where has Debbie Mazar been?

I would've liked Ari and Amanda to have a nice verbal insult-riddled smackdown B4 she left but whatever.

E is such a sensitive soul, at times I think Drama gives Vince better advice than E does and that's saying a lot. Can we please get to Drama's TV preimere, I can't wait.

I still enjoy watching, but let's move on already. These first 4 or 5 episodes feel like they have taken place over a span of a only a couple of days. I feel like the plot is stagnating. Move on! (I agree with all the postings about Drama; but Turtle has made me laugh out loud more than a couple of times this season.)

Ok, I love this show. Tonight made me laugh out loud more than once. That being said....Kevin Dillon is horrible. Big brother Matt he is not (see any parallels here?)
I hate any scene that he's in. Kevin acts worse than the Drama character ever thought of.
The horse story line didn't bother me that much, because I felt soooooo bad for the horse, I just wanted him to find a home and not go to the "glue factory". But I will say this...any story line that lets us see Ed Burns, is a winning story line with me. Can we say..........HOTT. I've loved him forever, and he needs to put out some more movies starring himself!

Love E (he's a cutie), Love Ari (his sarcasm turns me on), Love Vince (his eyes are piercing), and even Love Turtle (he's just a silly sweetheart). Drama.....no one needs drama in their lives, I certainly could live w/out him in this show.

And by the hoo, I MISS LLOYD!!
