« Dexter

October 22, 2006 – "Let’s Give the Boy a Hand," and a foot, and a leg…

The Ice Truck killer finds a way to get under Dexter’s skin and it's fun to watch Dexter's emotions pour, or rather just drip, out of him.

Best lines:
Dexter: Interesting hand job.
Angel: That’s funny.
Dexter: Is it?

It’s nice to see some faces from other Showtime series – Erin Daniels, Dana from the L Word pops in as the girl next door…She plays a bit much without the ‘m-u’.

Favorite part is when the kid in the costume store wearing the president’s mask turns around just as Dexter says the word, ‘monster.’

No killing in this one, just a lot of maiming. Which is nasty enough as it is, but c’mon, I’ve gotten myself all worked up to see some down and dirty serial killing and by gum, I want my money’s worth. Showtime isn’t free, you know.

The Ice Truck killer’s real purpose is in helping unravel the many layers of our fearless Dexter. ITK is having fun with him and it unnerves the strictly business Dex. The ITK’s photographs replicate Dexter’s past and force him to relive some childhood moments that reveal his struggle with adapting to his circumstances and coming to terms with his unique talents.

Doakes unknowingly gets used as bait and nearly gets killed to bring down Guerrero. And it’s all done so that his dead girlfriend’s brother can get even with Doakes for sleeping with his sister in the first place.

Debra is really starting to grow on me. She plays a little dumb, but she’s kind of endearing. The lieutenant really has a problem with her and it’s starting to get old. She needs to get over herself. My crystal ball shows some confrontation for the two of them in the future. Hopefully for Laguerta’s sake she won’t bother Debra so much that it ticks Dexter off and he has to add the lieutenant to his ever growing list of victims.

Rita gives the perfect Halloween gift dressed as Lara Croft, but without Lara’s, shall we say, ‘healthy glow.’ Dexter looks mortified, but somehow he goes with the proverbial flow. I say, ‘what a fantastic girlfriend.’

For anyone who’s missed any part of the series, Showtime is having a Dexter marathon Saturday @ 8 PM.

I just think this show is so cool! I enjoy every minute of it's creepiness. I even got my hubby into it. Dexter is so neat, how he struggles to show the world he's normal when he knows he's not. I enjoyed the scenes with the detective trying to buy his wife the perfect gift, I wonder what happened between them. Interesting how the ITK can get under Dexter's skin, it would take a serial killer to annoy another. I really like him and Rita together, he did seem to enjoy her "gift". I have a hard time sometimes seeing Julie Benz as a meek and mild woman when I'm used to the sexy dark and evil Darla from Angel. Oh well, that's just good acting! Great Show!

I agree that Julie Benz is doing a great job playing a very different character from Darla in BtVS and Angel. Now that she's using her grownup words and dressing like Lara Croft, we may see some girl power developing in Rita.

Why no mention of the neighbor's dog? I love that Rita solved that problem. I was happy the dog did not get the Dexter treatment.

There were some very interesting character moments for Lt LaGuerta and Angel this week. Though I could care less about Dex's sister. "Dex solve my crime so I can take credit for it". What a whiner.

I keep waiting for this show to let up on the quality or the story, and it's been so good at keeping me guessing about the characters and the storylines. I'm still riveted through the end of every episode. I love how Dexter is getting more thrown off his game by his emotions about the ITK and himself. The ITK is illuminating the Code of Dexter and I can't for next week!

This is fast becoming my favorite show this season. It just is great. I love everything about it. I really am fascinated by all of the characters. They all have their own stories.

The show does flashbacks quite well. It adds to understanding Dexter more. I like the voice over as well. Sometimes voice overs can be tedious (Grey's Anatomy being a prime example). Here I like knowing the inner thoughts of Dexter.

We did learn more about Angel this week. I guess he is seperated from his wife. From the comments she made, he may have cheated on her. Just an educated guess there. I wonder if that necklace was intended for his wife, but he decided to give it to his daughter instead. Or that he intended all along to give it to the daughter.

Dexter would never kill the Lt just because she harasses his sister or gets in a confrontation with her. He only kills people who are rotten to the core and are not going to change their ways. I guess so far they have only shown him killing people who have killed people themselves. By simple murder, drunk driving, killing patients or killing kids. I wonder if Dexter kills rapists as well or child molesters. We will have to see.

Strong ep for Rita. Taking the dog. Giving a bj to Dexter. The healthy glow comment was funny Paula. I never heard that phrase used in that fashion. But it was good to see Rita starting to be more assertive in her life.

I thought it was great when Rita gave Dexter the bj and he was so surprised that he enjoyed it. They are adorable together, even if he is a serial killer.

I was really worried about the dog. Figured Dex would kill either the dog or the owner and I was hoping for the owner...what a b! Great resolution of that one. Office: 2006-076801 Case/Citation: 2006-CJ-009618-D001

Dexter totally has feelings, he's just not aware that's what they are. He obviously worshipped his adopted father and cares deeply about his sister, Rita and her kids. His traumatic experiences before he was adopted have screwed him up for life but I believe he wishes deep down he were able to feel the same things other people feel. I feel sorry for him. I guess that is what they're going for on the show...that you feel sorry for someone who can do such horrible things to another person and enjoy it.

Oops, please ignore the stuff at the end of 2nd paragraph in my post. Not sure what happened there.

This is the one exampel where the slow unfolding of the main mystery doesn't bother me. I suppose at some point Dexter will become the prime suspect for being the ITK. It should be really interesting how that unfolds.

I absolutely loved the dog riding in the back of the convertible (which still cracks me up)... talk about freedom... and a dog like that definitely needs little kids that will play with it... go Darla!

Couldn't agree more. How about doing your own detective work for a change, prove you deserve the promotion, and stop relying on your brother for everything.
