Vrooom! Helio Castroneves Takes The Lead!
Was this Wayne Newton's swan song? Wayne Newton, Cheryl Burke by Carol Kaelson/ABC
There are no words to describe the hotness that is Helio Castroneves! He's bold, he's sexy, he's suave and that smile makes me melt! Yum! I am 100% in his corner! He can dance, and he's going to be very tough to beat!
Sabrina Bryan may have lost the top spot, but she still put on quite a show. She proved to be elegant as well as saucy! She has done well in both the latin and ballroom dances, and that will keep her at the top all the way to the final show.
Mel B also proved that pop dancers can be elegant. I was surprised her quickstep was so smooth. She pulled it out! I would love to hang out with her. She cracked me up when she "strangled" Drew Lachey!
Could it be? Marie Osmond in the top three? I didn't think she was technically better than those who placed below her, but she had a different vibe. A fun vibe! I found myself cheering for her and it took me by surprise! But Marie, the hair was no good! Was that a flower in there? I had no idea. Hair, bad. Dance, good!
The 21 Club: this group could go either way. Will they fail or flourish? Jane Seymour was definitely the queen of this pack. She handled the mambo well, but it was a bit mild. She looked fabulous, so I tried to excuse her deficit in the "shaking it" department.
Jennie Garth and Cameron Mathison are on the fence. They both seem to be letting their nerves get to them. I hope they settle in and get comfortable, or they won't be around to improve like I want them to!
Albert Reed still hasn't made an impression on me. I thought his sprinkler and lawnmower during their post-dance interview was the highlight.
Floyd Mayweather was the worst of the 21 Club in my opinion. I wished I felt differently, because it was evident how much he wanted to do well. The hope in his smile after his quickstep was gut-wrenching for me. Please, ballroom gods, help him out! It would be a joy watching him improve each week.
Mark Cuban and Wayne Newton were the definite bottom two tonight. Who gave Wayne the quickstep? That was the absolute kiss of death for him! He had no shot. Mark was not terrible, but I started to think he was trying too hard. He reminded me of the guy in the club that me and my girlfriends giggle about. Sure, he could dance, but not quite as well as he thought!
Well, tonight was quite the marathon! The journey ends for someone very soon. Who will it be? Any surprises coming our way? Post your comments below!
Tune into the results show for Queen Latifah and, of course, to see who the reaper comes for next! See you then!

Oh my gosh! I get to be one of the first to comment! Yeah.
I was thrilled to see Marie do so well! When I was six years old my mom took me to see my first concert: Donny & Marie. So I've been rooting (sp?) for her since the show started, and she hasn't let me down! I'm also excited for Jonathon because he comes up with some wonderful choreography each season, so I'm pleased to see him get a partner so willing to "go for it." In many ways, just like Heather last season. I'm rooting for them to go far and I think Marie's personality will give them that extra magic they need to stay in the game.
I felt bad for Jenny because she was dancing beautifully up until the fall. I hope she doesn't blame herself because it really was just a fluke with the costume. A little shorter hemline and they would have been fine. It looked to me like she was about to cry while listening to the judges' comments, which, in a way, made her very "real" to me. She wasn't a "star" in that moment. She was just a beautiful lady named Jenny struggling with a challenge the same as we all do.
I gotta say, that's what I really love about this show: It actually strips away the "celebrity" that normally separates those in the public eye from us "regular" folk and shows how we're all really the same at heart. And that it's okay if you're not perfect as long as you try your best.
But back to the contestants . . . Just want to say that Helio and Sabrina are wonderful surprises and I'm picking them as my early favorites to be in the final this year. As for who's going home tomorrow? I think it will be Wayne.I'm from Vegas and he's got a wonderful reputation around here for his kindness and generosity, but that doesn't help the fact that he's on the stiff side out on the floor. I'm definitely hoping he'll improve if given the chance, but I think his low score tonight may have done him in.
Personally, I thought that Mark Cuban got a raw deal just like Floyd did last week. I think Mark has definite rhythm and obviously a terrific work ethic. The problem may be that he's TOO hard on himself. He may be the other person in the bottom two on the results show, but I think he deserves to come back next week.
Everyone else was enjoyable to watch. I'm just excited that this terrific show is back on the air because it makes me want to dance, too!

I so enjoyed watching Helio. He dances from the tips of his toes to the top of his head! He just seems perfection to me.
I didn't know if I'd even watch this season, but I'm really glad I did. The majority of the celebrities are talented and that's a first. Usually you pick out the final two or three in the first week, but this time, wow, it's really fun!

"> While I am enjoying DWTS, I am beginning to get the feel of a "fix" by the producers. You can tell who they favor by the music that the stars and pros dance to. Did anyone notice that Helio, Sabrina, and Jane had sorta "ballroom" music to dance to, and Floyd and some others had mainstream pop??

I missed the first hour of the show. We only have one TV in our house and my 10 year old wanted to watch Goosebumps on Cartoon Network. I tuned in just in time to see Helio dance and WOW!! He was just amazing and I agree with one of the previous posters who said he dances from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. He was just spectacular to watch and blew me away.
I did think Sabrina's dance was as good as last week. Last week it was engaging but this week is seemed really "perfect" but not fun. I agreed with Len when he was trying to talk about the two sides of the dance.
I felt bad for Jenny and the fall. She did seem like she was going to cry but I thought the judges we careful of that and gave her good advice without being harsh about it. That is what I like about this show, there is no Simon being mean just to be mean.
As far as Jane Seymour, I think Bruno said the best about the Mambo at a tea party but I think it was likeable enough.
From the recap I think it's a safe bet that Wayne Newton is going home next.

The dancers have improved this season but the music hasn't. Since the 1st season of the show I have complained about the music selections. My solution is to hit the mute button when the music does not match the dance. That way I can concentrate on the dancers. I did this with Floyd and Jennie last night.
I still have not picked a favorite to win. Even though Helio and Sabrina are the best dancers, I like Mel B. and Albert because they are working hard to learn their dances while putting on a good show.
I have to day that Wayne Newton should is way past his dancing prime and should be going home this week. (Even though I always root for Cheryl)

I'm sure he's working really hard and is a great entertainer but I think Wayne should go tonight.
Helio just takes my breath away. His dancing is awesome. He lucked out getting Julianne as his partner.
I don't think Marie Osmond will win but I hope she goes far in this contest. I grew up watching "The Donny & Marie Show". She's a sentimental favorite of mine. I just love her personality and I think she's so pretty. She's got one of the most beautiful smiles I've ever seen.

Jenny didn't trip on her dress. She messed up and caused her partner to fall. I rewound the tape several times. I thought it was noble that her partner was going to take the blame for it, but it wasn't his doing. It's too bad she was so upset - but she needs to face up to what it was. She was so rude to him during practice - making fun of him and his age. She really needs to grow up and be respectful.

I agree with the poster above who said about Jenny saying things about his age. I thought that she needed to grow up on that fact. I know you have to act closer for the show, but she was a big actress on 90210 and these movies. She's kissed guys she really doesn't know before, so dancing closer than normal with one shouldn't be such an issue. As for the comment, too, above who's "fault" it was, it wasn't Jenny's or her partner's. Rewind again. It was a costume error. The dress was a flowing type dress and her partner lost his footing because he got tangled in part of her dress. It wasn't Jenny's fault and it wasn't his fault. It was a simple issue of the dress being longer in that area and hanging down where he was putting his foot, getting him tangled in the process. No one's fault here, just a simple wardrobe issue. I think they do need to think about such issues. I kept thinking that Sabrina too was going to get her foot caught in the back of hers too because it kept coming really close to her heel. I think an extra half inch or inch off the hemline, especially when you have to dance in it, would be sufficient.
As for front-runners, definitely Helio and Sabrina. My 5-yo has to take a nap on Monday nights when she gets home from school because she wants to stay up later, watch Sabrina, and then I help her call and vote! LOL She says she has to vote for her Cheetah girl!
I think Wayne should go. I think that it will be Wayne and Mark in the bottom 2, but I'm thinking maybe Mark will go instead. I think Wayne has a huge fan base and that he will stick around for a little bit because of getting votes and people liking Cheryl. Mark seems okay, but I'm assuming he might not have the fans a legend like Wayne has. I thought he definitely deserved credit for effort and trying!
Just want to say too that I think Drew is doing a wonderful job co-hosting! I thought last week he was nervous and messed up a lot, but this week, he was funny and very good in his exchanges, especially with Mel B., Tom and others. They should think of keeping him full-time. Samantha is okay, but I get tired of her messing up and just not being funny at all. Tom & Drew both make the show funny and more enjoyable to watch.

I think its safe to guess that Helio, Sabrina and Mel will be the final three. Helio and Sabrina will be the top two and I don't know yet who will win. (I'm pulling for Helio)
I think Wayne and Floyd are the worst two dancers in the group but I believe their fanbases will keep them around one more week and that Mark will be the one to exit tonight.
Beyond that, I really think this season will be a popularity contest because none of the rest are exceptionally good or bad. Drew kept making a big deal last night about the four way tie last week, the five way tie this weeek. I think it makes total sense. They are all about equal.
So to me its going to be interesting to see who really has the fanbase that will keep him(her) around the longest.

I really think that Mark Cuban was robbed. I can't believe that he scored lower than Jenny or Cameron. I don't think Jenny's dancing was any better plus she fell at the end. Cameron was stiff and although he had a smile on his face, his dancing didn't have any real energy. Unlike Mark who was out there full of energy and into the dance 100% and I thought did a pretty good job. He should have scored 7's across.
I so hope Wayne goes home tonight. It was just painful to watch him. The fact that he is a sentimental favorite may keep him in for a little while longer though. There is always one every season.
Helio Helio Helio!! Awesome! He is my pick to win at this point. What's not to love??

God awful music!!! Half the songs didn't go with the dances. What are they thinking? I thought the male singer was going to get a hernia from straining on the high notes in that one song. I agree the Mute button is handy. Really love the show anyway.

Had to laugh at your comment about Mark Cuban, I never would have thought of it that way, but you are so right, it is just like the club guy that we girls giggled about. But I'm still pleased that he isn't embarrassing our town as I feared he might. At least he is trying and isn't awful. And now that he's shaved the salt and peppa fuzz, he looked a LOT better and he's obviously in the best physical shape of his life.
Helio was fabulous and adorable as always, it's got to come down to either he or Sabrina right? 'Course they could suffer the catch 22 "why aren't you improving like the rest of the dancers?" They are already near professional quality so how can they improve at the same rate as the others as the weeks go by? I was thrilled that we did not hear any Cheeta talk [just the more subtle paw prints] from Sabrina this week although Drew had to ruin it at the end.
I thought Marie Osmond was really much improved last night. She was flirty and smooth and did some awesome tricks.
I felt so bad for Jennie Garth. She seriously looked like she wanted to be done with the talking so she could go somewhere and cry. He must have really cracked her noggin a good one.

Oh and Delilah and littlejohn, I don't really think that Jennie was trying to be mean to her partner in her comments about his age and not being able to see him as a man. One, she was an actress for a relatively short period in her teens, then she gave up acting almost completely so the guys she was kissing were her own age.
Secondly, I think I recognized what she was doing because I can relate although I'm not sure I can adequately explain it here. She may be suffering from her own issues with her age more than his age. Maybe it is more that she feels old and doesn't feel that she could ever be attractive to a young man like her partner so tries to cover those feelings of inadequacy by saying that she could never think of him in that way, you see? Of course, she sees he is attractive and is aware of his manliness, but in her mind she is past her prime and therefore not supposed to lust after younguns so she pretends that she doesn't.

Well, I too hope Wayne Newton goes back to Vegas! I love Cheryl but he's gotta GO!! It was actually embarrassing to see him dance. It was a little too much. Anyhoo, I'm still hoping the "latin" in Jane emerges. I love this lady and I think she'll be one of the top contenders. She's very good! But yes, her "mambo" was a little on the conservative side. Shake it Jane!!!
Helio's a character for sure, but doesn't he remind you guys of Roberto Bennini?? LOL!! He's definitely the guy to beat. Cameron as much as I like you, stop whining. It's SO not attractive. We get it, it's tough, but none of the ladies have whined as much as him! Relax and do yer thing. He looked REALLY good in those pants though! Wow-wee!!!
Sabrina was good, again, and she's one of the top ones too, but Jane gets my vote over her
Mel B, Albert & Floyd, I don't care much for but Marie & Mark were GREAT surprises. I thought that for a non-latin person, they both did very good! I voted for Mark. I hope he beats Wayne!
