Viva Las Vegas!
Floyd is still fighting! But for how long? Floyd Mayweather, Karina Smirnoff by Carol Kaelson/ABC
Phew! The ballroom gods came through and sent Wayne Newton packing! Was I too hard on him? Tell me the truth!
Wayne — don't feel bad! I'm sure you have a bathroom the size of my townhouse. We're even!
So Floyd Mayweather joined Wayne in the bottom two. I'm not shocked, because I think Floyd and Mark Cuban are the only other two who could have been there. It's only a matter of time for them.
This is the first time I am comfortable saying that a woman will win this competition. The men don't have it this year, am I right? With the exception of my beloved Helio, of course! Come on guys, prove me wrong!
Since it was a rather uneventful exit, here are some other topics that piqued my interest tonight. Let me know what you think!
The music selections: I want all the posters to know I read the comments and I am with you on the music selections being heinous! I don't know if the info we got tonight helped calm you down, but at least we saw that even the dancers have issues with it! "The Beat Goes On" for a tango? Awful!
Who are the people they interview after the performance shows? I know some of them are stars from ABC shows they use for shameless plugs, but are the others just random people from the audience? Some of the things they say crack me up! One woman commented on how great it was that the oldest woman and the youngest woman in the competition were at the top. Yeah, it's right up there with the invention of electricity. Next!
Those random audience people with their witty comments must be the ones who boo Len Goodman. Every year I wonder why because he actually knows what he's talking about. He's trying to help them! Let the man do his thing!
Did Tom Bergeron say "lame duck"? I so used that phrase in my recap last night! See, I told you they religiously follow my blog! Oh man, Wayne Newton is so sending his seventy-five Arabian horses after me! Mental note: rave about Floyd Mayweather!
Next time: the paso doble! Olé! Second only to the tango as the mother of all ballroom dances! Who will Viennese Waltz their way to victory and who will get the bull's horns? Come back next week and find out! Until then, leave your comments below! I'll be reading!

Are they really doing a Viennese waltz next, or just a traditional waltz? I mean, isn't the Viennese waltz just spinning and swooping around the dance floor?
I'm glad Wayne finally got the heave ho. Mark should be next, then Floyd.
I'm so sick of audience members booing whenever the judges offer actual criticism. We live in a culture that frowns upon criticism as a result of all these years of "everybody is a winner and you must always only offer praise" being instilled into our children. Unfortunately, without honest criticism, one cannot improve. How can you work on your faults if they're not pointed out? I guess the audience only wants the judges heaping lavish praise, no matter how sucky the performance.
I can't wait to see the paso doble next week. It's one of my favorite dances.

I have to agree with the order of leaving - Wayne, Mark, Floyd. I think Floyd is trying really hard, but all that boxing and weight training must have tightened his muscles and joints. The man is not limber! He cannot move!
I agree the women are going to win this one. I love Jane Seymour's elegance and grace, and really appreciate that at her age with her back and health issues, she is still giving it her all.
But I also love Marie Osmond's hot momma dancing. She has really surprised everyone with her dramatic flair and dedication to the contest.
I agree with you about the judging. People need to be quiet and listen - they might actually learn something. I know it is a popularity contest like American Idol, but it is still a dance competition. We need to respect the judges and give them their undivided attention when they speak.
I have never watched before this season, but I am hopelessly hooked!

I could actually feel my face drop when Drew announced that Samantha is back next week. Ugh.

I too love Jane Seymour and Marie Osmond. They are real competition for the Cheetah girl and Mel B--at two or three times their ages! If the movers and shakers on tv were smart, they would offer a comedy show to Marie. Something along the lines of "Ugly Betty" only for an adult woman.
Don't count Helio and Julianne out of this competition. As Helio said, it only matters who crosses the finish line. They will come back next week in tip-top form. Count on it.

My depression over Samantha coming back next week was at least off-set by Wayne being voted off last night. I'm glad this didn't get dragged out as long as it has in past seasons.
I really enjoyed the parts of the Billy Ray/Miley duet that I could hear. I get that this is a dancing show and people are there to watch dancing, but I wish the audience would hold their applause for the dancers every time they make a dramatic move while the live musical performers are singing. I thought it was great that both dancers when up on stage to hug Billy Ray and Miley after the song. I wish Tom or Drew would have done an interview with them.
I can't say the same for Seal. I had to mute the first song so I could see the dancers and fast forwarded through the second performance.
As sorry as I am to see Drew go as co-host, I am happy to hear that he is going to be hosting Carrie Ann and Bruno's show.
They did say last night that it would be the Viennese Waltz and the Paso Doble. I love the Paso Doble and can't wait to see if the men can over take the women next week.

I missed the entire episode. I've been lured into watching "Reaper" on the CW and it is so funny that I couldn't stop watching.
I'm glad to hear that Wayne Newton went and it didn't drag on like Billy Ray Cyrus and Jerry Springer did in seasons past.
I also agree with the booing comments. It's not like these judges are as harsh as say Simon Cowell, I think they make good points and are things that the dancers(both professional and star) need to hear and can benefit from. I think they are all really careful in how it's delivered.
Samantha will be back next week? UGH!! That's what 4 weeks since she had her baby? Call me old fashioned but you need to spend time with your kids. They really do grow up so incredibly fast and if you aren't there, you miss all the good stuff!! Plus I find her annoying and was looking forward to not having to see her this season <sigh>

This is a contiuation from the discussion on my opinion about JS.
I like JS as an actor since she was the star of "somewhere in time" with Christopher Reeves. She was radiant and elegance. I did not watch the Medicine woman consistently, but I think she did a great job in that series.
However, I think she made a mistake when decide she disgrace herself by appearing on reality show like DWT-dlist. She is not a d-list actress. She deserves better than this trashy program.
I feel sorry for her family and mother that she rather choose to spend her time on this trashy program than to spend time with her family in this time of mourning. I feel this way because I don't believe appearing on DWT-dlist is a worthy cause. If she is out there competing for our country in the Olympics or doing some kind of charity work like in a missionary, I would most likely second her decision, but not when she decided to stay and compete in this mindless, trashy program.

What was up with the oversized sweater on Maks? I'm sure it wasn't his choice and it should never happen again.

Now that Wayne's gone, it's like a new competition.
Drew leaving? Noooo. I was happy, though, to hear he has a new hosting gig in January. Drew, you did a great co-hosting job in DWTS.
I totally agree with the booing comments. Audience, give the judges a break. They're just doing their job. They're the experts, not you. The dancers can't expect to improve if they don't get constructive criticism.
Regarding Jane's decision to stay in the competition...she's doing this in tribute to her mother. She joined DWTS b/c the British version was her mom's favorite show so this tribute should not be viewed as wrong or selfish. There is no right or wrong way to mourn. Let her be. The last thing a person in mourning wants to hear is that they're doing it wrong.

Like everyone else, I was glad Wayne went home tonight. I always feel bad though for whoever is going home because they do work so hard.
I loved that Mark and Kym were so shocked that they were not in the bottom two. I know a lot of people don't like Mark or for whatever reason want to see him eliminated next, but I really like him and did vote for him so I am glad he was not in the bottom two. Next week my votes will still go to him and of course - my favorite HELIO!

I was so glad to see Wayne go and am definitely sad to see Drew go!!! Why can't they keep him instead of Samantha? He was so much more funny and didn't mess up nearly as much!!
Wayne definitely had to go. He's a nice guy, but he just couldn't keep up. This year, the competition is fierce! I think Mark or Floyd should go next, doesn't matter in what order. They're just not standing out as much as the others. Then I think it's between Jennie & Cameron as the next ones to go.
Then that leaves Jane, Marie, Mel B., Sabrina, and Helio. Am I missing anybody? Whew, hard to remember when they're so many good ones this year! I like Sabrina and Marie the best. I have to like Sabrina because I have a 5-yo Cheetah Girl fan in the house! LOL I actually thought when the show started that I wouldn't like Marie and that she would be awful or at least not that good, but she's incredible for her age! To look that good and dance that good, her & Jane are keeping up quite well!
I would actually love to see a woman finally win and with 4 very good ones, that's definitely a possibility. I like Julianne and I think she is incredible, but I think a woman will win this year and I'd be happy if it's any of those 4, as they are all equally talented and unique in their own ways.

I'm so grateful for the recap (and the comments) today. I somehow failed get the DVR set to record last night's results show.
I *am* sorry to have missed the comments/info about the music selections. And I'm very very sad to hear that Drew is leaving. He did a great job!
What's this about a new show in January?
