The Not-So-Shocking Final Three

Unbelievable! I just can't believe it. I want to bawl my eyes out. There are no words to express what I am feeling right now. Some moments just cut to the core of you and shake your very soul. Michael Flatley's performance was just so moving! Although, there was a surprising lack of curly haired beauties.

Ok enough joking. I bet you thought I was talking about Jennie's shocking exit from the competition. Only it really wasn't so shocking. There wasn't a doubt in my mind that Marie would make it through yet another round. If she can survive her tumultuous personal life, she can surely take on a reality show. At first, I was really annoyed. But the show is all about the fans and she's obviously who they want to see in the final. She may even be their choice for the winner. I guess we'll see. Believe it or not, I don't begrudge anyone their right to vote for who they want, but I surely don't have to agree. And I don't. With a passion. If you're with me, then we gotta get out there and vote next week. If you're not, then may the best most popular person win. At least we know Marie will be extremely entertaining. I am curious to see what she comes up with for her freestyle dance.

To be honest, I don't like the three-person final. Think about it — most finals consist of 2 sides, not three. Could you imagine if three teams played for the NBA Finals? Horrible. A final should be a battle between the two best. In terms of this show, the person in third place is just taking votes away from the other two. Votes they may need to win. I don't like that. I'm worried Mel and my Helio's votes will cancel each other out and help Marie win. No one should win that way.

My burning question of the night is this: Are all the members of Avril Lavigne's band about twice her age? I so want a red microphone. I don't know what I'd do with it but I must have one.

Speaking of performances, I totally missed Sabrina and Mark dance. I'll admit, I did some channel surfing and got sucked into an old Cold Case. I don't even care.

Anyhoodle — next week's the end, folks. It's been a long season so as much as I'll miss my weekly venom-spewing, I'll be glad to get my sanity back. I hope. Don't miss the exciting finale! Come on back next week. Until then, the floor is yours. Get chattin'.

Of the three remaining pairs, who is your current pick to win DWTS? Vote here.

I am a bit sad that Jennie was kicked off the show :_|. I think Marie should of won based on lack of technique and improvement. I think Jennie was steadily improving while Marie was like a roller coaster. Depending on the dance she would excel or flunk.

I was not surprised that Mel and Helio were going to be in the finals. They have always set themselves apart from the other dances in technique and performance. So congrats to those two :-x

Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me, but the dancers that were dancing were not Sabrina and Mark!!! :O "Mark" seemed taller from the last time we saw him on the show. "Sabrina" seemed to lose a lot of weight so quickly and her face from afar did not look like her. Did anyone else notice this? Krista you missed a really good dance. Suggest going on to YouTube later this week to see if anyone posted. The movements were sharp and the lifts were prefect. Even Lenn was clapping during the performance :-x

Michael Flatley's performance outshined Arvil's in my opinion. Avril seemed out of place and confused when she was singing.

I think Helio is going to win this season. I think people are rooting for him more than Mel and Marie. He has the only guy left standing working for him;)

Well, I was sad to see Jennie go. She has improved so very much. She and Marie brought different things to the table. But I also think that she is probably relieved to get back to her family (that handsome husband of hers!). I actually feel sorry for Derek. His first time on Dancing and he is so good (like Julieanne's last year)! Even the judges agree (I read) that he is a superb choreographer. And so young. I knew when he and Julianne were standing there that he would be the one to go, but I so wanted an upset! Those two (Derek and sister) or so gorgeous and talented. Their parents must feel so proud. Maks is so gorgeous and I know he wants to win badly and I think, as predicted, this is the year of the woman. But Helio deserves honors as well.

The freestyle has always been my favorite part of the show. Can't wait to see what they do! This is where Derek would have shined (more than usual)!!! So besides feeling bad Jen is gone, I'll miss that.

Helio should have went home...His smile has outstayed its welcome and his pole dancing while his partner does all the moves has finally caught up to him.

I wasn't suprised. Marie had the whole state of Utah....plus everyone named Osmond...(Which is almost as big as the whole state.) And Every mormon....
I will say Mel should win. Helio second...Marie 3rd....

I think it will be reflected that way next week. Lets hope.....Id be okay with a switch of first and second but Marie must remain 3rd.

Poor Jennie. She really worked hard.

This show should really increase the power of the judges' votes. America just doesn't know what they're doing. If they did, Sabrina and Mark would be going to the finale, and Marie would have gone home last week. Jennie would probably still be going home tonight, but I absolutely loved seeing her progress, and learning that she was nothing like her character on 90210...she is so adorable and totally rose to the challenge (go girl!). I love Marie, too, and she added so much fun to this competition, but if she wins (I feel bad even saying this), it will be a travesty, and bless her, she'd probably be the first to admit it. Didn't she get whipped into great shape, though? I hope I can look like her when I'm 48! :)

Seriously? A travesty? Merriam-Webster gives this definition: "a debased, distorted, or grossly inferior imitation {a travesty of justice}." I don't think those words apply.

I have to bet that nobody in the competition cares as much about who's booted and who stays as many of the bloggers do.

--Marie didn't have every Mormon voting for her. She had to share them with Julianne and Derek. :)

Eh, sometimes I think America, you suck, when they vote a certain way in which I disagree...a certain election in 2004 comes to mind...but eh, oh well. I'm sad to see Jennie go. She was a better dancer than Marie and, being the same age as me, someone I found much more relatable (plus I've had that crush on her since 1990). This is Jerry Rice all over again, someone else who made it way past his due (who really thinks Jerry Rice was better than both Lisa Rinna and Stacy Keibler?), but at least lost out to the better dancer. I loved my man Jerry...I watched season two specifically after they announced he would be participating, since I had no interest in season one, and I'm glad he made it to the final four, but after that I wanted the better dancers to advance. Well, last season I didn't think Laila Ali belonged in the finals (I thought Ian Ziering outdanced her in the semis), and she ended up coming in third, so hopefully Marie follows suit.

Avril Lavigne is adorable. I have all her albums and her newest CD, The Best Damn Thing, is a fun pop album. Yes, that was really Mark and Sabrina...I watched in HD and it was clearly them, and wow, Sabrina was amazing. Her lifts were on point and her chemistry with Mark was insane. Sure, she still showed signs of being too aggressive and overpowering, but her skill level is phenomenal. She really belonged in the finals alongside Mel and Jennie, not the lineup we ended up with.

Michael Flatley's troupe put on a hell of a show. Irish step dancing gets my Irish blood pumping every time (Riverdance is among my favorites) and those guys were tight. None of the others who came in for special performances were as good, even the mighty Savion Glover.

I wasn't really feeling the Kenny Mayne clip. It was mildly amusing at best. Kinda fun to see former contestants making fun of themselves, though.

Well, who to root for now...go Mel or Helio, I guess.

I'm not thrilled at the idea to watch Marie dance a freestyle. But after this week's granny heels shoes, I am very curious to see what she is going to wear for the finals. Orthopedic shoes, walking boots, ski boots...

Oh dear Grod....did you know that there is now an online petition circulating to have DWTS have a cut-off age of 40? I guess it's by some people who are angry that Marie Osmond is still on here (they are the ones who keep making remarks about how the older dancers can't cut it). Do these people not realize that Lisa Rinna, Emmitt Smith and John O'Hurley, past DWTS favs, were all in their 40's when they competed? I don't remember age being an issue when they are on the show. In fact, poor old decrepit Lisa went on to star on Broadway in Chicago. How on earth was she able to muster up the energy, poor dear? Did she get to use her cane as a prop?
If you don't like Marie Osmond, fine. But this is ridiculous.

You're right about Mel and Helio's vote canceling each other out. Marie probably wins this in a two person final anyway. Add the two votes canceling each other and you have a big win for Marie. Betcha there's an adjustment in the weight of the judges scores in the future.

Can you say "sour grapes"? Bitter people will always loudly complain over every perceived slight or "unfair" advantage, but I don't see their petition carrying any weight with anyone of importance. DWTS wants as diverse an audience as it can get, so they're not going to drop the "geriatric" dancers any time soon.

I really enjoyed watching Jennie dance and I'm bummed that we won't get another chance except for a few seconds in the finale when they all get their one last chance in the spotlight. :(

And I have always liked the Osmonds - I had a HUGE crush on Donny when I was little and was a big fan of Marie as a country hitmaker in the 80's. But it seems like, well maybe it's just Donny, the Osmonds are getting a bit cocky? Last night on ET Donny was just downright smug when he said "Marie is safe, Jennie is going to go. Mark my words." And this was before the results show, so this isn't a case of sour grapes.

Still, this won't keep me from enjoying the show.....

I wish the Spoiler Alert was still posted - that was hilarious, especially since I kvetch all the time myself about the UK viewers who post spoilers on the Torchwood blog. Reminiscent of SNL's "Happy Fun Ball." Good times!
