A Passionate Plea for Justice!
Kiss me, you fool! Helio Castroneves, Julianne Hough by Carol Kaelson/ABC
Ok, I'll cut my usual critique and go right to begging! Well, maybe a little critique...but mostly pure, unapologetic begging.
We're down to five and, as I see it, there are only two clear cut choices for the winner: my Helio and Mel B. If you don't agree I defy you to prove why your choice deserves to win. They are by far the best and most exciting. So this is my plea — let's keep these two safe! Get out there and vote.
Don't get me wrong, I am a big Jennie Garth fan, but her performances tonight were a bit shaky and it makes me wonder whether she'd be able to handle the pressure of the finale. I definitely think she deserves a spot next week in the semi and if she gets better I think she should be the third spot for the finals.
Cameron will be the one to go tomorrow night and I say that because I don't believe that Marie Osmond will actually lose. Side note — who put him in tan? That outfit looked like he should have been doing the Hustle and I thought his pants left very little to the imagination, if you catch my drift. Not that many of you ladies mind, but I'm just saying. I like Cameron, but he doesn't have the strength and appeal of my Helio.
Back to Marie, she should be the next one out. I have enjoyed her flare but the judges couldn't have been more right when they said she's just not cutting it at this stage in the game. If you are voting for Marie simply because you like her (I get it, really) then please stop. You're not doing her or the competition any favors.
So again I ask you, please vote for Mel and my Helio! My guy was on fire tonight, was he not? I waited 8 weeks to see him dance the Paso Doble and he did not disappoint. It was magic, no lie I think I screamed at the end. One of those embarassing screams of excitement where you look around and hope no one heard or saw you. I almost fainted when he kissed Julianne. Was that an Adrien Brody Academy Awards moment or what? That's not going to fly with his girlfriend though. Or me! Hey Helio, I thought we had something special! Just kidding...honest.
Mel B deserves it too. She's been consistent and her technical skills rival Sabrina Bryan. Side note — whoever put Mel in pantsuits for the ballroom dances the past two weeks is totally brill. Mel and my Helio are the only ones left who manage to look totally natural. I think the championship will be well-deserved if won by either one of them. Let's face it, this show hasn't always seen the best dancer win. Maybe we can change that this year. So vote!
We'll find out how well my plea went over tomorrow night, so come back! Also, I'll be ranting about this whole "avenging" Sabrina controversy. I'd do it now but I'm emotionally drained! Tomorrow night I'll be ready to go and so will one of our stars...right out the door. See you next time!

I wouldn't vote for Mel B if she was the best dancer on the face of the earth. I don't particularly like her and I don't think there is chemistry between her and Maks.
Helio is good but certainly not on par with any of the Joeys past or Apolo or Drew or Emmitt or Mario.
I like Cameron. I like the fact that he takes risks. Haven't seen the show yet as I'm on the West Coast but I've never seen Helio take a risk.
So..I'm sure Helio will win. He's fairly popular. But he doesn't excite me in the least.
So my votes go to Jenny and Cameron. If one of them leaves then I probably won't care who wins.
Sorry.

OK..I haven't seen the episode tonight with Helio and Julianne kissing...however..I was at the taping last Tuesday in LA and sat in a primo spot in the balcony with a full view of all the backstage happenings..and Julianne had her hands all over Helio backstage...if I were his fiance I would be worried...no cameras on them so it wasn't for "show." I was surprised at the commeraderie with the dancers and stars..all very friendly even when cameras weren't rolling... Max kept checking himself out in the mirror before you got on stage...not too surprising though! I think Helio and Julianne have "real" chemistry....

Helio was great! Did u see Julliane's eyes as he kissed her- she was totally shocked!
Please send Marie home! She is getting by on her big smile and charm not technique or content.
Mel B. was good- not great. Her paso was better.
Jennie was a little weird-like she didnt have control over her legs during the jive. Her other dance was alright- she just seemed nervous. But- I want her in the semi finals- she deserves it.
Cameron- I couldn't focus because I was looking for panty lines in his too tight pants. Gimme a break! But his first dance was really good.

What was the music that Edyta and Cameron danced their Viennese Waltz to? I know it, but couldn't place it.

Things have been floppin' around on Cameron since the beginning of the season, tan or no tan polyester. Makes it kinda hard to concentrate on his purty lil' chest.

That would be the theme to the Harry Potter movies... honestly, I'm suprised that Edyta didn't come out in a Hermonie constume (thank goodness she didn't!)
I enjoyed Jennie's Jive (even though my hubby sidetracked me during the performance so I missed the technical misses), Helio's Quickstep (but not really the Paso, the comstumes were really distracting) and Mel's Mambo (but not her tango... it seriously looked like they were trying to recreate their Paso into a Tango and it didn't work for me. I don't really like that song either.)
Poor Marie, she's had a tough week, and she's got spirit, but not enough content, and Cameron, um, someone should explain to him about a dancer's belt. I'm not going to be sad if either of those two go tomorrow.

Okay... I hear your plea. And I'll be more than happy to continue to vote as I have been IF you start refering to Helio as OUR Helio instead of 'my' Helio!

I'm surprised that no one else has mentioned the "inspiration" for Helio and Julianne's Quick Step. The song and outfits were the same as the scene where Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz dance in "The Mask." Complete with the kiss and him dropping her. Bash me if you want to, but Marie's my Gal and I'll vote for her till my fingers bleed. She shows spunk and personality and really entertains and that gets me every time over pure correct technique. And, trust me, between all the cell phones both personal and business we have in this house thats a lot of votes.

I am in total agreement, Krista. Helio's quickstep and Mel's mambo were by far the best dances of the evening. The rest of the night was kind of a bore to me, but I was had a grin as big as Helio's after watching those routines!

Helio secured my vote tonight. I liked him from the beginning, but tonight he really shined. (The routine may have been from The Mask, but the costumes reminded me of Dick Tracy!)
Marie is adorable and I'd love to see her go one more week, for her sake. I think her dancing has improved steadily each week, maybe not as great as some others, but still getting better and better.
Jennie is a sweetheart, but she doesn't seem to be improving even as quickly as Marie, so she would be my pick to go home this week.
Cameron's first dance was beautiful, but the second was robotic. I hated his outfit.
Mel is my least favorite of the bunch, she grates on all my nerves and her pantsuits are totally innappropriate.
Did I dream it or did they show the celebrities picking out their own material and helping design their costumes one season? If that memory is correct, the error in clothing judgement falls on the contestants!

Debbie, you are incorrect about the celebrities picking out their music and costumes at least as of the past few seasons. They've done segments on the elimination shows explaining they have no control over it.
Karenb716, the more precise answer is Hedwig's Theme by John Williams. The music actually worked, even though I do associate it so strongly with the Harry Potter movies.
I wasn't feeling Helio's paso doble. Julianne's cape kept getting in the way and it was distracting. The quickstep was pretty good, although I didn't quite see it as a 30. The kiss was pretty fun to watch, though. Julianne's eyes went so wide!
Jennie's jive was better than the criticism and her foxtrot was pretty good, too. I think suggesting she hasn't improved as much as Marie is preposterous. Marie has barely improved at all over the course of the series. She looks the same to me now as she did in week one. Jennie has improved the most of everyone. What was up with Richard Simmons, though? Do people really still care about him in this day and age? He's so irrelevant now. This isn't 1985.
I thought Marie was so-so in the rumba, but her jive was pretty bad. Sara Evans did the whole country fried jive way better, and I thought Sara lasted weeks longer than she deserved...the same with Marie. Her skills aren't good enough now. Entertainment value alone isn't good enough. George Hamilton was also a very entertaining dancer, but he had to go eventually, and it's time for Marie to head out. I loved Donnie and Marie as a kid, but I'm not letting sentimentality guide my opinions. I loved Jerry Rice as a football player (one of my personal heroes), but in the end I picked Drew Lachey to win because he was superior to Jerry as a dancer. Everyone left in the competition is superior to Marie as dancers.
Cameron's Viennese waltz was definitely very good, but his cha cha cha was just as the judges described. He's not consistent enough to win.
Mel's tango was off, to me. I think the music choice was weird, though. Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode? Hmmm. Her mambo was great, though. I think the judges are trying to push Mel and Helio for the final two, but the fans might upend that idea. Mel's fan support might not be good enough.
