Money Can't Buy Everything

Hey Mark, at least you lost 30 lbs! Mark Cuban, Kym Johnson by Carol Kaelson/ABC
Episode Recap: Eviction Five

Well my friends, you did it! The voting public has spoken and finally sent Mark Cuban back to his gagillion dollar mansion. Sniff sniff. How horrible. Since he didn't end up in the final two last week, I was a bit scared that two decent dancers were going to end up there and possibly be sent home early. Luckily, America woke up and realized he had to go. He really was the right choice, no?

Thank God my Helio was spared the doom of the bottom two, but I wasn't glad Jane Seymour ended up there either. We're down to seven competitors now, and they are all doing well. Next week we will have to face facts and send someone good home. I shudder at the thought!

Who is it going to be? If I had to pick the person I think deserves to go next — based on technique — I would say it has to be Marie Osmond. But as Tori Spelling said, it really could be anyone's game.

Speaking of Marie, did anyone else think it was a bit sadistic to keep showing her infamous collapse? I was glad to see what happened during that commercial break last night, but by the fifth rehash of her unfortunate digger onto the ballroom floor, I started to feel really bad for her. What's worse than fainting in front of millions of viewers? Oh, I know: having it exploited in front of your eyes for ratings.

But no one needs exposure more than Jennifer Lopez. I heard her new album didn't debut in the top ten on the American charts, and apparently that's a failure. Is that why she's on this show? I don't know, but I did enjoy her performances. "Let's Get Loud" is a classic, and her new song "Do It Well" didn't suck. I'd say that's a successful appearance. How is she going to tour for this album with a baby on the way?

So that very well may be the last deserved eviction of the season. What awaits us next week? Can anything really top the drama of that fall? I doubt it, but by all means, check back here for all the poop that's fit to scoop. Later skaters!

I pretty much agree with what you had to say, Krista, but I have to also say that if the voting public could vote on Samantha Harris, she would have been gone LAST year.

I don't care if it's been said over and over again, she is bad and needs to be permanently replaced. This may be a little crude (or a lot crude), but she has a case of constipation of the brain and diarrhea of the mouth.

I may be the only person in America that was sadden by Mark leaving. I really believe that he should of stayed last night was his break through moment. Where next week I think he would of shined and done really well. However, I understand why he had to go :_|.

I think it was Maria or Jane's time to go. The reason is that I don't see any improvement in their dancing. While Mark, on the other hand has improved each time he has danced.

Jennifer's performance was good. I think she should just give up and tell America she is expecting. I understand and respect her choice not to tell. Either way I think she looks gorgeous and has a motherly glow to her:)

Hopefully, next week each dancer will bring their A game and it will be entertaining :-x

What could be worse than having your fainting spells played ad nauseum? Janet Jackson can answer that with two words: Wardrobe Malfunction.

Mark Cuban proved the old stereotype that "white men can't dance" (or is that jump?). He certainly did improve and probably did better than this "white" dude could have.

Oh well, it's hard to feel too sorry for a man whose income has six more zeros than mine. He can hang his head all the way to the bank.;)

And he really was the weak sister of the remaining field after the departure of Floyd Mayweather. (I frankly found it odd that a man whose 38-0 record in boxing depends on fleet and dextrous footwork didn't do better. Go figure.)

As Marie put it herself--in one of the interminable time-fillers that pad the bloated "Results Show"--"This is [now] a real competition." Let it begin!

As for Jennifer Lopez she simply can't sing; barely carrying a tune hardly qualifies one as a "singer."

She should have stuck to her normal MO of lip-synching (sp?). At least that way the $3 million dollars of digital processing would have made her voice tolerable.

The two songs were simply wretched: poster children for why record sales continue their 15 year slide. The fact, as Krista mentioned, that her new record failed to debut in the Top Ten bears out this out.

By contrast, Canada's most successful band, media-pariah Rush, had their recent album debut at number three. (And none of the three guys is pregnant!)

Frankly, she should stick to light romantic comedy. At least in that field (e.g. The Wedding Planner) she has something to offer.

Something that doesn't cause actual musicians and true music fans to cringe.

Wow, first Marie's fainting and then that fire possibly coming to many of the celebs' homes, this might have been one of DWTS's most stressful weeks ever! Considering Ms. Osmond's humor, I did not think Samantha was being mean when she made that comment about her condition supposedly influencing the judges. I enjoyed most of the dances, even Mark Cuban's though I'm glad he's now gone! I'll miss Kym though and glad to have seen her in the genie costume! Jennifer Lopez was pretty spectacular. Maybe too much so with all those fireworks in her intro! Great to see Cheryl and Karrina back on the dance floor after their partner's elimination the past two weeks! And siblings Derek and Julianne look cute together! Should be even more entertaining next week with the first group dance!

Who is it going to be? If I had to pick the person I think deserves to go next — based on technique and combined performances — I would say it has to be Garth. However, at this point in the competition, it really could be anyone's game with audience voting for their favorite entertainer/celebrity.

Now, Marie Osmond & Jane Seymour are both class acts, can both dance beautifully and the best I've seen for our mature and most beautiful group who can both hold their own. Especially Jane Seymour who's stunningly beautiful and looks as good as the youngest star competing, Sabrina. So, this season by far has the best I've seen to date.

Now, it was unfortunate for Maria's fainting as the media will continue to make issue of it. It happens so let's get on with it...

Once again, I must repeat what I wrote last night...it's interesting to see how different people can witness the same event and come away with different perspectives.

Having heard Jennifer Lopez sing live years ago, when her recording career was fairly new, I can say that she has improved dramatically. Maybe having a real singer for a husband has paid off. Free vocal lessons! She sounded great...so great that at first I was sure she was lip syncing and felt outraged that a classy show like DWTS allowed the travesty of a fake performance. Then I realized that really was her singing and was floored.

I was surprised Marie wasn't in the bottom two. I thought Jane danced better than her. Marie has all those millions of relatives voting for her, though, so she will be tough to get rid of. The entire state of Utah is probably voting for her, as well.

I'm still pulling for my final four of Jennie, Helio, Sabrina, and Mel.

Next week's group dance could be fun.

Gotta say it (again): Edyta is the most drop-dead gorgeous woman on planet Earth!

Have a nice day, everyone.

Because of his great work ethic and enthusiasm, I was sad to see Mark go but it was his time. I was impressed when he shook the judges' hands. I believe he's the first contestant to do that.

I was shocked to see Jane in the bottom 2. The competition's now getting more fierce. Anyone can end up in the bottom 2. Everyone really needs all of their fans to vote.

I could not believe my ears when Samantha asked Mel B who she thought should be eliminated. What a question!! Her return just makes me miss Drew more and more.

The world is filled with talented singers....so why must we be subjected to Ms.Lopez? She is very pretty, but dear Lord, a terrible singer. Now if you would like to feature her very talented husband....

Okay, can someone PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE vote off Samantha Harris!!!!! I've been wanting her gone since she's been on the show to no avail. I'd really like to know what the bigwigs at ABC see in her (????). Her interviewing and commentary technique borders on comical, and I don't think it's suppose to be funny.

Anyway, I for one liked Mark Cuban and was sad to see him go. He definitely improved since the beginning. I think he was a good sport to even be on the show.

I still think Sabrina will be the eventual winner which is a shame because I think she has an unfair advantage on all the other amateur dancers. The girl looks like a professional dancer out there on the dance floor.

Ok, Jane is a nice dancer, but come on the other nite her & Tony did not move 3 feet from where they started. I mean she just kind of posed around. They did not use any of the dance floor except the 3 feet around them, if that. I too miss Drew. BRING DREW BACK! The question I have about Jennifer Lopez is that on E! & I believe ET, they had been saying that she was not going to be on there because her grandmother had been ill, so she had had to tape her singing Sunday nite. Sorry, but I know camera's can do wonderful things now, but come on, that was so not a pre-recorded spot. If that were the case that she had pre-recorded it, then why didn't Gloria Estefan do it last week when she wasn't there? I was glad to see that Mark Cuban is gone, I just have to know, who pairs these professional dancers w/ the celebrities? I mean poor Kym, she's been put with Jerry Springer (even though Jerry was excellent to watch, even though his show isn't) & then Mark Cuban, poor Cheryl was put with Fruit Newton, sorry, Wayne Newton.
I often wonder what the judges are watching as well, I mean they are always critiquing everyone else but Sabrina, she's alright, but she acts a little like she thinks she's got it in the bag. There's just something about her that I do not like. I really did not care for Mel B before this show, because of all the Eddie Murphy hooplah, but I do like her on this show, so they can't say that it's because of that that she was in the bottom last week. Course, it could be because Maks is her partner...I was kind of expecting the other Spice Girls to make an appearance during the song by coming on stage. Now that would have been...wait for it....awesome!

Gloria Estefan had some kind of medical emergency in her family as well I believe. Obviously a bad week for a lot of people! Samantha is majorly annoying! I was hoping she'd take more time off and maybe not come back at least for another year! One can hope I guess! LOL

I like Mel B. I think she's so funny and I thought even with the Eddie Murphy fiasco that she held her own and didn't lower her standards. He was the one going around telling everyone it probably wasn't his child, etc. and then slap in the face when it was. I also like her & Maks together. They are so funny in their interviews and things.

I don't agree with whomever said that Sabrina acts like she has it in the bag. In watching her interviews, she seems very down to Earth and humbling. When someone came back from dancing the other night (either Jennie or Mel B.) she was clapping bigger than anyone and seemed very excited that they had a good night. So I think she is very genuine and her interviews and blogs on her MySpace pages are so cute and nice. I like her and I wouldn't mind to see her win, especially since a woman has never won.

As for who to go next, I think it should be Marie, Jane, Helio, or Cameron (sp?). Then that would leave Mel B., Sabrina, and Jennie to fight it out. I enjoy Mel B.'s and Sabrina's dances the most, but Jennie was gaining ground on me until this past week. I think the others are great, but I just don't enjoy their performances as much as the others.

I was glad to read that some other people were a bit disappointed with Mark leaving. He wasn't the best dancer by any stretch of the imagination but he has been the most improved and one of the most entertaining. Jenny and Jane just bore me to tears when they dance.

I know some people have said that Jane was in the bottom two and not Marie because Marie fainted and that got her sympathy votes. I disagree - Jane, although classy, is kind of boring when she dances. Marie has spunk and energy.

Now that Mark is gone, my votes will now go to Helio and Mel B.
