Episode Recap: The Winner is Crowned!
Well kids, this is it! It's been just over two months since this crazy season started and now it's all coming to an end. Who would be taking home the crown and who would go home in utter defeat? More importantly, who is being booted right away and settling for third place? I'm anticipating an interesting (yet long!) night ahead, so let's dive into it one last time!
After a short interview with our finalists, Usher entered the ballroom and I shouted with glee. He's sexy and talented and he really hasn't had a song I haven't liked. Despite having a headset, I definitely think he wasn't singing his new hit song "Love in This Club" but that's really fine with me. It's a dancing show and if singing live would have made it hard for him to break it down at the end then he shouldn't have sang. I also think every performer on this show has lip-synched so this isn't abnormal. We've had some pretty great performances this year. Which was your favorite?
Then the first big moment of the night arrived: time to find out who would place third. I was pretty sure it wasn't Kristi, but I really couldn't pick which guy would be left in the dust. After a tense few moments, Cristián was given the bad news. I was a bit surprised, but Jason has been at the top for most of the competition so it's not out of left field. I was very happy Edyta made it to the final round. She's been on the show awhile and hasn't made it to the finale. Cheryl has been there tons of times. I hope to see more of Cristián in the future. He's very handsome and seems like a stand-up guy. It really stinks that he had to learn a whole new dance for nothing but at least they got to perform it. It would have been cruel to let them go out without one final performance!
Penn Jillette performed a cha-cha and reminded us why he was the first to go. Hey, I like him a lot. Any guy who's a Howard Stern fan is ok in my book. Monica Seles also performed and even though it wasn't good, I thought it was cool that she was willing to come out and give it another shot. Mahoney Steve (another Stern fan!) performed an impressive tango, Adam Carolla (yet another Stern fan!) got on his unicycle again (loved it and his speech!), Cilla did a sultry tango, Marlee marveled with a mambo, Shannon and her possible lovah danced a quickstep, my guy Mario blew me away with a mambo that was h-o-t, and Marissa took one last ride on the Winokur Wave. I'm glad all the eliminated stars performed. Who would you like to see as a contestant next year?
Time to crown the mini-dancer champions: Brandon and Brittany! Hurray! I must say this was much deserved! They were fantastic and it was great that ABC got some Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders to present them with the winning trophy. It was Brandon's fantasy and every kid deserves a cheerleader! Have any of you ever watched the show that chronicles the DCC try-out process? I love it! It is so fascinating in a surreal way.
Since the first time wasn't enough, Usher came back with a new spin on his big hit "Yeah." Very cool how he jazzed it up for the ballroom! I like it better the original way but it was a very creative twist. Karina, who I heard is in FHM, got to dance with him - lucky girl! She gets all the cuties.
The Final Round
• Kristi performed her jive from earlier in the season, which got her a perfect score. Of course, it was just as exhilarating as it was the first time. She received a glowing review from the judges and it was nice to see her moved to tears by the whole experience. Jive 30 A perfect 90 for the finale. Wow!
• Jason had quite a hill to climb after her jive but that quickstep he did was his best dance of the season. I still didn't believe he had a chance of beating her but that doesn't mean he didn't do an amazing job. Quickstep 30 A total of 81/90 for the finale.
And before I knew it, it was the end of the show and time to announce the winner of season six. Was there ever any doubt it would be Kristi? I think they inscribed her name on the trophy after the first couple of weeks. She really deserved it and the streak of male winners is finally over! Way to go, Kristi! I must tip my hat to Jason. I'll admit, I didn't always think his dancing was great, but he really hung in there and I always like to see the sports players take this so seriously. I'm sure ballroom dancing is something a guy like him could take a lot of heat for in the locker room but he didn't seem to care. I won't be a Miami Dolphins fan anytime soon (go Eagles!), but I might be a Jason fan. On another note, it would be wrong of me if I didn't shout out to Tom Bergeron, who, as always, does a great job hosting the show. He's quick on his feet and doesn't annoy me at all, which is a feat for a reality show host (ahem, Seacrest you creepy robot). Crud! I just realized I forgot to check in on the Cookie vs. Archie smack down on Idol. I heart Cookie.
I was happy with this ending. How about you? I've had a great time doing the blog this season and sharing my zany thoughts with you all. Thanks to all of you who read and posted whether you didn't like what I had to say or you thanked God someone verbalized what you were thinking. I appreciated all of your comments and loved seeing how passionate everyone got about this show. It's a pretty cool show. I hope it continues to entertain us and more stars are willing to put themselves out there. So that's a wrap for the season but it can't end until all of your comments have been heard. So get chatting and have a great summer everyone!

Wow, is it possible that I'm the first poster after such a fantastic finale? Well, I have to say Kristi & Mark consistently knocked our socks and deserved the trophy. I also want to say that Jason, Edyta, Cristian and Cheryl also helped to make this finale the best ever. And I heart Tom Bergeron--he's a fantastic host! Now can we lose Samantha Harris next year and bring Drew Lachey back? Well, I'm sorry to see this season of DWTS come to an end but we have So You Think You Can Dance to look forward to starting Thursday. Yay!

yeah to kristi. she deserved the win. cristian deserved second because jason posed too much. skin, fine looks, and athleticism doesn't work for me, when you can't shake your hips until the freestyle sorry. and loved seeing guttenberg. he just cracks me up. and corrolla, i thought i never would stop laughing. but did anyone notice after his fantastic little sketch bit the one person in the audience not laughing or clapping was monica seles? if you've got it on tivo, rewatch. it is so obvious. what's her problem? he covered everybody. blacks, asians, hispanics, gays, and guttenberg. lol.

I knew Kristi would win! She's done so well this season and no I don't think she has an advantage. Kristi herself has said she has never taken any dance lessons at all.
Finally another woman won the competition, it's about time and I'm glad Kristi won. It also makes up for the fact that Marc lost his chance last season.

I'm very pleased with the outcome...Kristi was amazing this season and was my pick to win before the first episode even aired, so it's gratifying to see it come to pass. Of course, since the first two syllables of Cristian's name is Cris-tee, my heart skipped a beat when I thought she might have come in third place, until the -ahn sound and then Cheryl's name confirmed that Kristi hadn't been robbed.
And what a show of class at the end, when Jason and Cristian hoisted Kristi onto their shoulders after she was crowned champion. I loved that.
And now for a nice summer away so I can get all excited for season 7 in September!

I'm so glad Kristi won because there have been too many women that were robbed of the title like Stacey and Mel B. and Sabrina. Plus I think it is great that she won because the Olympics will be starting in a few months. I know Kristi never competed in the summer games, but it is still a cool tie-in.
I was surprised Jason came in second, but I guess people loved that he was able to do more lifts. I'm glad that Edyta go some love this season. People usually only comment on her skimpy comstumes and not her talent. But then again, seeing as how she is usually saddled with the older gents it makes sense for her to "sex it up."
Cheryl hasn't been in the finals in a while (I blame you Julianne) so it was good to see her back in the game. Cristian was a great performer, and he really poured his heart into this competition. The man wracked his body and still did not give up. He is a true champion.
Loved Usher's performance. They should definitely look into having more singer/dancers on the show. It makes the result shows so much better.
Not sure who I would want to see next season. I definitely would love to see an All-Star version, but only if it didn't include past winners. It would be great to see who kept up with the dance training and how they've improved.

It was a great season. I thinks Jason deserved a 30 for his freestyle Monday night, even if the band massacred Will Smith's Miami. He was great!!!
Sorry if I am stupid but, what is FHM that Karina is in?

Kristi totally deserved the win, and I'm really happy my girl Edyta made the finals. Can't wait to see who they come up with for next season. And hopefully TV Guide can get a new blogger for this show who's not so mean next season, too.

Um, maybe my memory is off, but didn't Edyta make to the finals in season 1?

I'm SO glad Kristi won! Yay!
And that wasn't a new dance that Christian and Cheryl had to do--it was their paso doble from earlier in the season.

favorite moment: seeing Brandon's face when the DCC came out to present him the trophy. He's gonna be the coolest kid at school!
classiest moment: seeing Jason and Cristian carry Kristi on their shoulders after she was crowned the champion
possible future contestants: the only people that come to mind are Heather Locklear and Danika Patrick.
I was glad that Jason finally got a perfect score last night. He and Edyta, IMO, were the most beautiful couple of all seasons.
This season was fun. Can't wait for September.

randrew,
In season 1, John O'Hurley's professional partner was Charlotte Jørgensen. Edyta's partner was Evander Holyfield and they were second to be eliminated.

Holly1 FHM is a men's magazine, similar to Maxim.
Very strange when Christi-an was eliminated. It sounded like "Kristi" at first!
Kristi deserved to win, but Jason is definitely a class act.
What an exciting season!
