Episode Recap: Please Pass the Fiber!
The tango and the jive are two of the liveliest dances in the ballroom repertoire, so I knew we were in for an interesting night. The tango is by far my favorite (the pasa doble is a close second) because of the fire and emotion and the jive is entertaining because there is a lot of movement. But they are not just entertaining, they are challenging. The tango must be tight yet look effortless and the jive is crazy yet the movements must be controlled. There were some hits and misses tonight, so let's get to it!
Marlee — I was anti-Fabian because he took over for my beloved Maksim, but he really won me when he screamed in her ear "Can you hear this?" That was hilarious. My only concern is that they were a bit out of sync tonight. It seemed he was a step ahead of her. They have to rely on other senses to work together, so I think in the coming weeks they will be able to get it together. Jive 21
Mahoney (aka Steve for those of you under a rock) — This was by far an improvement from last week. He carried a lot of emotion in his face (though he usually does) and he may need to tone that back just a bit, but this was his best performance in terms of technique. Hopefully this is the start of a roll for him because I can't get enough of him and want to see him around. Tango 21
Cristián — When in doubt, show some body! Those were some killer arms and since he was in the bottom two last week, he needed to pull those babies out to get some votes. Sadly, he needs votes and that surprises me because he's very good. I thought this was a solid performance and given the chance he could do a lot more. So throw a vote or two his way if you can spare it! Jive 25
Mario — I love the Moulin Rouge version of "Roxanne" they danced to because it has such intensity. I didn't think Len was right when he said it was a mess, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was expecting a lot more from them. Regardless, he's still fantastic and he's in this competition for the long haul. Tango 21
Shannon — The flapper dress worked, but this was not as good a performance as last week. The jive is a tough dance and it's early in the competition so it could have been a lot worse for her. Bruno was right about working on her finish and precision. But Len, he thought that was good and Mario's tango wasn't? That's a big stretch. Jive 24
Adam — Was it me or did this go pretty well? It was a decent tango. I was very shocked. Is he starting to care about this competition? Doubful, but at least he's not tanking it on purpose. He's putting effort into it and I respect that. I think he'll make it past this week. Tango 21
Marissa — This was her third week with a fast-paced dance so I'm ready to see her do a traditional ballroom dance. These fast ones aren't working for me and although they don't stink, she's not distinguishing herself in this great pack of dancers. At this rate, I'm not sure she'll see next week. Jive 19
Shameless plug time! Tonight it was Eli Stone. They both looked peeved to be there. Do you think ABC forces them? They must.
Cilla — This dance worked for her because she's a dignified woman with a lot of pride. However, I wasn't very inspired by it and didn't think it was very entertaining. Has she hit a plateau? I'm wondering what else she has to show us since it seems like she does the same dance every week. It's good, not great. Tango 26 I thought this was high.
Jason — He gets good feedback, but I see an awkwardness in all of his dances. I actually agreed with Len on this one, a bit sloppy and not so much action. He continues to score well so unless he's not getting enough of the fan vote he'll be back for more. Jive 23
Jeff Probst? Where did he come from? Isn't he on CBS? I guess since Survivor doesn't compete with DWTS in the ratings, it is ok to pop in and lead us into a commercial. It was a bit odd though.
Kristi — The dancing was great but I thought her face lacked expression and Mark's face had too much. I dig Mark a lot but it was pretty distracting. The only thing missing from the dance was intensity on her part. Other than that, it was fantastic. Tango 27
I'm not one to say this often, but that was a fast show! Next to Marissa, there really wasn't a bad performance tonight so it's anyone's guess as to who is going home tomorrow. Who will you be voting for? Who is going home? And what was Len on tonight? Please share your thoughts and chat with us as we await the next eviction.

Okay, I'm not going to comment on the dances because of one thing that still has me angry and...and...I just don't have the words. No one has mentioned this anywhere else, so I'm going to.
Yes, Marissa's Jive was safe, but Carrie Ann's comment was totally uncalled for, especially with that look on her face. Total anger and just blurted out: "that was boring." and "you're better than that" and coming down on Tony for trying to make Marissa feel better.
I thought she could have been more tactful and not so mean-spirited. She shows bubbly performance, the judges tell her to work on her technique; she does that, and she gets harsh criticism for not being performy enough.
Now, I'm no dancer, but, I think, for someone who is trying very hard to do well, each week, that Carrie shouldn't have come down on her as she did, lacking compassion for someone, who is STILL learning!
I know I'm not making sense, but it was VERY RUDE and MEAN, what Carrie Ann said. And like Mario wasn't all over the place, yet they had nothing but NICE things to say to him? Well, except for Len.
I'll write my thoughts on the dances later...after I've calmed down.

I have to agree with Jeff Probst's appearance being a bit odd. However, I was very happy to see him. I know Survivor is a CBS show, but he pops up on FOX's Mad TV almost regularly. So any time Probst is on tv is a good day to me!!! I also thought that Carrie Ann was a bit harsh with Marissa. I really don't know who could go home this week. I wish everyone could stay around for the whole season so we could see how they improve. Then on the finale, they could count the votes that were made over the course of the season and name the winner that way. I'll be checking in tomorrow night and see what everyone thinks of the results.

I agree 100% with you Geets226!!! Not only was Carrie-Anne harsh, it was totally off base. Maybe Marissa's dance wasn't totally wow, but at least she DANCED! All Adam did was stand there and be a pole for Julianne to dance around and he got a 21? WTF?!?!?!?!
I am almost starting to think that the show is rigged! I think Mel was totally robbed last year, as since Apollo all Julianne has done has made poor dancers look good. Mel could actually dance, but still lost. And it looks like the judges are still playing favs, as Mario still got better marks and he screwed up too!
I am cheering for Marissa all the way - you go girl! Screw Carrie-Ann and her negativity! She hasn't danced in years so apparently has no idea anymore what goes on. And shame on her for slamming Tony. I love him and love how he always defends his partners (he talked back to CA last year when she dissed his partner Jane!).

Carrie Ann has always been a sexist witch. What she did to Marissa was uncalled for although it may have the effect of getting her sympathy votes. There was no need for that.
Tonight was why I didn't want to watch this season. The markings were unfair to some and overly kind to others. Jason, Cristian, Mario and Adam got scores that they did not deserve while Marissa was roasted on national television. Kristi's dance was awful with Mark taking on the role of a pimp with Tourette's Syndrome. Those facial expressions are something to behold. I kept thinking his jaw was dislocated. Their dance was not nearly as good as Priscilla's.

I really think Adam should go because he speaks inappropriately for this wonderful family show. Where does he get off talking about pimps and prostitutes?? At 8pm many kids may be watching with their parents as well they should for sheer enjoyment and not to have to listen to that trash. Believe me I'm no prude but in this kind of show he should be able to use more restraint and not think of having to make a joke every time he speaks. I hope he leaves tomorrow since he sucks anyway. The band is fantastic and I wish I could play trombone in it but I live on Long Island.

I also think it was funny when Bruno said something like "was i just outed"? He must get plenty of kissed from the costume designers but then more power to him. Whatever floats your boat as long as he is a consistent and fair judge. He is kind of cute you know.

FINAL ORDER OF FINISH (subject to change):
1 - Kristi 2 - Mario 3 - Cristián 4 - Jason 5 - Priscilla 6 - Shannon
_______________________________________ WEEK 3: unchanged from weeks 1 and 2
One thing the judges did not mention was the difficulty of the dances. Mario tried to do the most difficult dance this week (certainly, more difficult than Marissa, Steve and Adam's) and was over-penalized by the judges. So, Mario will have to sweat it out tonight as there is a (slight, but real) chance for him to be ousted and become the next Sabrina Byron. Cristián, Priscilla and Shannon did really well this week.

quick thoughts....
Marissa = she WAS boring and VERY SAFE! Was CA to harsh? Maybe but she said the truth. Just because Marissa is cute and chubby doen't exclude her of criticism. As being deaf doesnt either......
Mario == the coreography was complicated and not nice to watch and the girl dress was distracting...
Loved Priscilla. Loved Kristi... (need to work on her emotions)
Jason good. Christian good (for a latino so, so!)
Shannon-------- ummmmmmmm..... so, so too!

Ok I wasn't the only one thrown off by Marks odd faces. I thought what the heck is he doing. I loved Edyta's costume this week and want Jason to continue so I can keep seeing Edyta. I think it's time for Adam to go.

Carrie Ann was a bit harsh, but Tony really needs to make the choreography on the routines he and Marisa do a bit more difficult to show that she really can dance. I keep wanting more action from her, although I thought last night's routine was much better than the judges did.
And Mark looked like a gasping fish, no?

I also thought Carrie Ann was way to harsh on Marissa. Marissa's dance was a little safe but it's only the third dance of the season. Adam just stood there most of his dance and he got better marks? huh??? I think it may have backfired on Carrie Ann though because Marissa's line was busy when I tried to vote for her about 20 minutes after her dance.
I thought Marlee did a great job for someone who couldn't hear the music. I am impressed with how well she and Fabian are doing. I have to say that I was worried about how well Fabian would do being new and then having a deaf partner, but I am really enjoying them.
I am hoping Adam goes home tonight. He can't dance and his inappropriate comments are not right for a family show. In his defense, though, we don't know how much of the rehersals are taped and then editing decides what to show on the live show so he may not have known that the pimps and whores comment would be shown on live tv. He should not have made the Mormon comment when he knew he was live though!
I thought Shannon did a very lively dance for someone who was having trouble with breathing control in the previews last week. It's nice that Derek didn't take the easy way out and give her an easier dance.

I saw 2 lifts last night. Thank goodness Carrie Ann didn't mention them.
She was a bit harsh on Marissa. I wouldn't call her dance "boring". I'd call it "safe". Hey Carrie Ann, there are ways to get your message across without being mean.
Mark's fish face was so distracting. Kristi's tango lacked passion and emotion. I don't think she deserved 3 9's.
I felt Priscilla's tango was the best. Her acting skills paid off last night.
No jive dance stuck out as being awesome. Some were good; some were so-so.
Sorry but I just don't think "Roxanne" and "Rio" are good tango songs.
My votes went to Jason and Priscilla. Adam should go tonight.

Please, please, please make Marissa go away. She thinks she's cute and adorable but she is just annoying! Definitely not adorable and she needs someone to help her understand that there are clothes she just can't wear. She may think she looks great in them but she looks dumpy. Girlfriend cover up those thighs - ugh - I wanted to be sick! Sorry Marissa, you're overweight, you can't wear the same things the 120 pound girls can.

Carrie Ann apparantly still hasn't wized up since the first season when she insulted Kelly Monaco. She should apologize to Marissa - on air - as she did to Kelly. And to the rest of the judges here who are down on Marissa - could *you* do any better?
To sunflowers917 Apparantly you couldn't possibly know what happy is since you aren't.
