Episode Recap: The Judges Lose Their Minds!
Still seething from the eviction of my beloved Mahoney and reeling from the embarrassment of totally getting fooled by the most obvious April Fool's joke ever, I decided to let it all go and move on! Who knows, maybe I'll have a new favorite after the night is over. After all, the paso doble is my second favorite dance and anyone can viennese waltz their way into my cold, black heart. It could be tough though because I'm sick and as cranky as Len on his worst day — so let's chew on some D-List stew!
Kristi — Although Mark is still suffering from sporadic open-mouth syndrome, this was a great dance. I'm running out of nice things to say about them since every week is exceptional. If she's not in the final two, the voters failed her. Paso Doble 29 (grrrr looks like Len is cranky again!)
Cilla — I realize that someone injected motor oil into this poor woman's face (or something crazy like that), but I don't think the excessive amounts of make-up she wears really helps. I wish they would ease up on the eyes and soften her hair. Just being on screen in HD is hard enough so let's try to help her out. Anywho — despite Carrie Ann getting all strict about the "lifts" again, this was a decent dance. As I said before, she's the same every week. Waltz 22
Adam — A lot of people got all bent out of shape about his remarks last week and I don't get it. This guy is a goofball — hence the Zorro mask and unicycle — so nothing he says should be taken seriously. Neither should this dance, which wasn't very good. He may have hit his peak last week. Paso Doble 19
Marlee — She didn't look very sure of herself this week. She said she wasn't having an easy time with it and it seemed to show by the look on her face. She's also someone who I would say is good every week, like Cilla, but isn't wowing me. Why is Carrie Ann crying? We're only 36 minutes in and she's already irking me. Waltz 24
Side note: I didn't realize Marlee was on The L Word until, in a fit of boredom, I turned on an episode over the weekend. If you want to see her making out with that chick from Flashdance, get Showtime. Fast.
Mario — My one disappointment with this dance was the choice of song. "Higher Ground" (the Stevie Wonder version, not the Chili Peppers remake) would definitely not be my pick for the bull-fighting pasa. Regardless, I thought he was very commanding and rocked that puffy shirt something fierce! Paso Doble 24
Jason — It was not a great dance for the football star. Why do the judges love him? I don't get it at all. I didn't think it was sexy — it was awkward. I'm not saying it was terrible but I was really disturbed how Len and Carrie Ann could put him on such a pedestal when Mario has been blowing him away. I'm really peeved. No way was that up to par with Kristi's paso. The fix is in! Two 10's, really?? He tripped half-way through! If you're with me please shout out! Waltz 29
Cristián — Thank you wardrobe people for that lovely open-shirt ensemble! Meow! I thought this dance was better than Jason's by far. Luckily, the judges didn't trash it or I would have flown through the TV and smacked them square in the face! Oh yeah, I'm on fire now! Paso Doble 26
Shannon — Leave it to DWTS to capitalize on a good injury (ahem, Marie fainting)! How many times do you think we'll see the grimace on his face when his neck snapped? Do they really tape practices? They're just waiting for something to go wrong, aren't they? Anywho — the injury didn't hinder Derek from performing and Shannon delivered a beautiful waltz. If she can improve in the Latin dances, she could hang around for awhile. Waltz 28
Marissa — Please, just get her out of my sight. Maybe it's the raging chest congestion talking, but I didn't think this was good. I'm so over her. Was this dance really good enough to tie Mario? I think not! Paso Doble 24
Well I must say this was a rambunctious round! Cristián came back from the dead, Jason stole the judges hearts (and my patience, sanity and general good mood), Mario continued to get a raw deal and Marissa wasn't in last place. What do you have to say about all this? Was I right about Carrie Ann and Len or have I had too much Sudafed? Who is your pick to get the boot? Will I fast-forward through Sheryl Crow tomorrow night? You be the judge because I don't have much confidence in the big three anymore! Let's chat below and don't forget to stop back here tomorrow to share your thoughts on loser #4. See you then!

I don't think Mario's getting a raw deal. He sucked last week, and yes, while he did much better this week, I don't think we should hand him the trophy just yet. Yeah, I think the judges gave Jason too high of a mark, but maybe they're seeing something we're not? Who knows. All I know is that I hope Adam dances his last dance tomorrow night!

FINAL ORDER OF FINISH (subject to change):
1 - Kristi 2 - Mario 3 - Cristián 4 - Jason 5 - Priscilla 6 - Shannon
_______________________________________ WEEK 4: unchanged from weeks 1-3
Last week, a lot of people on this forum said negative stuff about Priscilla. I don't want to defend her, but she is 62 years old and (in my opinion) as good as Marie Osmond (who was 47 years old last year and placed third). It seemed that CA and Len deducted one point for her minor lift this week. So, Priscilla will have to sweat it out this week with the second lowest score of 22, just as Mario did last week.
Adam's dance was flashy, but riding on a unicycle is not dancing. Also, his footwork has never been as good as Priscilla's. So, Adam should be axed before Priscilla, especially with the lowest score of 19. However, Adam benefits from fans of Julianne Hough. There are people who would rather see "Julianne and Adam" than "Priscilla".
So, this week's outcome seems to be a fan popularity contest between "Priscilla" vs "Julianne and Adam". However, Marissa was saved by CA's harsh words last week and should be axed before anybody else. Marissa's score of 24 this week (2 points more than Priscilla and 5 points more than Adam) will be very hard to overcome even with fan votes added, but I expect Marissa to be the one to go home this week.
Cristián, Jason and Shannon did really well this week. _______________________________________
I see a BIG problem with the judges' scoring. Last week, Mario did not deserve the same total score by the judges that Steve and Adam got. This week, I agree with Krista, Marissa did not deserve the same score that Mario got.

Subject: Re: Episode Recap: The Judges Lose Their Minds! Yes, I'd say you tied Len for the title of Cranky Pants this week, but everyone's entitled to be grouchy when he/she feels bad. Hope next week is better for you.
Cheryl and Cristian were SMOKIN!!!! Kristi was technically proficient and working hard on her emoting; she's just not there yet.
'Cilla did okay--not super--just okay. She does a whole lot better than I ever could, and I'm more than a decade younger than she. As for her makeup, I dread to think what that botched job looks like without the 1/2 inch of pancake.
Marlee definitely was at a disadvantage this week because she had to look away from her partner. As a result, her timing was a bit off and she stumbled once. And, she came pretty darn close to a lift there--maybe squeaked it out by a toe! Her acting saved her though.
Mario was okay--not spectacular--just okay.
Jason was okay. Edyta was fantastic.
Adam's unicycle riding was superb; his paso sucked. He should go away so Julianne can promote her CD.
Shannon's dance was nice, much nicer than Jason's, but I hardly agree with Len that it was the best dance of the night.
And stop picking on Marissa. The judges criticize her if she's too energetic. They criticize her if she tones it down. She gives it all she's got, I firmly believe. The costumes are god-awful I agree, but that's because she's maybe five feet tall and (to put it diplomatically) a bit rubenesque. But I see her coming into herself a little more every week. (Okay, so you're not the only one up for the title of Cranky Pants. Feel better soon.)

I've got this feeling that Kristi may be the "Melinda Doolittle" of "Dancing", -that is, -if you get the "Idol" reference, -she's technically light years ahead of everyone else, but unable to "connect" in the way that wins these kind of competitions. There's not much of a progression of skills to be made, and that kills interest. I think she'll get close, but just miss (in a shocker). So, who's poised to win...? As a guy, I thought Cheryl's outfit was terrific, and its nice to see her having fun again. Christian is pretty good, but as Carrie-Ann mentioned, he goes "deer in the headlights" every so often and breaks the mood. I'm glad Cheryl (and the show) is taking a stand in the face of the nasty rumors and appearing at events with Drew Lachey and showing it in her intro package. That's probably the best way to deal with the issue. Jason did a decent job but occasionally the "Lurch" issue gets in ther way, -the dance would be more romantic if he could look into Edyta's eyes rather than out into the crowd. Marissa got a prime slot, -probably as an apology, of sorts, -and it would make a great comeback story (and "Dancing" loves its stories. Actually, I really enjoy watching Shannon Elizabeth and Derek, -I enjoy their chemistry and they look great together. Elizabeth is sort of "Jennie Garth 2.0", -she's a cute Thirty-something girl who isn't inhibited and looks like she's having fun out there. While I doubt she'll win, if she keeps up improving, than I'm hoping she'll get pretty far.

I missed Marissa's performance (and haven't "found" it online yet LOL). I saw everyone else's and am I baffled by the judges and their scores. I swear I think I'm watching a different show than they are.
I did enjoy Shannon and Derek (they're my favorite), as well as Edyta and Jason. However, I also enjoyed Priscilla and Louie.
My pick to go home would be either Adam, Mario or Marissa.
Thanks for posting! Hope you feel better!

Jason makes 2 serious mistakes and gets 2 10s? Can you spell unfair? Can you spell pets? Pu-lease. The judges are making it very unpleasant to watch anymore.

What a great title! The judges were a little crazy tonight. While Bruno and CA were giving away 10s, though, Len only gave one - and I think it was to the best dance of the night: Shannon & Derek. I did not think I would like Shannon, but she has consistently improved and looked so good tonight. Derek is a great teacher and choregrapher. The other stunning performance tonight was Christian & Cheryl. Good choregraphy, intensity and delivery. Again, someone I did not expect to like. I was incredibly touched by Marlee & Fabian's waltz. Although technique was only okay, the emotion was powerful. The middle of the pack: Kristi & Mark (amazing choreography from Mark but lacked passion and performance value), Priscilla & Louis (deserved higher score), Jason & Edyta (deserved lower score), and Mario & Karina (okay, not great). Adam was absolutely ridiculous. Missed Marissa. I am nervous that with her low score tonight and possibly lack of fan support Priscilla will be gone tomorrow night - which would be a shame. Really, Adam or Marissa should go.

Get well, Krista. Though I like a grumpy persona just as well. That's my usual, lately. I'm also in total agreement with you.
And I was glad to come here and discover that I'm not alone in my feelings about Marissa. She drives me crazy!! If she's not hyper, she's crying and begging. She has no self esteem and wants constant attention. Just vote her off already! I'm sick of it.
I thought I'd be sick of Adam by now, too, but he did make me laugh tonight.
I also didn't see why Carrie Ann would be crying. It seemed so contrived to me, especially since she (CA) was the last to speak and was still so "overcome" with emotion. C'mon, even if she felt that dance to be touching, she would have pulled herself together while the other judges were having their say, but no, there she was bawling as though the dance had ended right that second. It just didn't feel right to me.
Well, see what I mean about grumpy!? There's my proof.

I think most of us agree if it was just dancing Talent Adam should go but we all know it isn't. Krista does seem light years ahead of everyone else but I think Shannon,Jason Mario,& Cristian might be able to put a scare in her. I think if they show a bottom two it will between Marissa,Adam. Unless people vote for Julianne and I wish they would stop not that I mind his humor but 1 more week of him would be enough if Marissa goes so be it but I don't want Adam staying over anyone else.

I really thought the judges were very unfair tonight. How could Jason stumble and get 10's but they deducted points from Pricilla for a lift I never noticed? Maybe I didn't notice a lift by Pricilla because her face wasn't as frozen as people have been complaining about and she seemed to be enjoying the dance. I really hope she gets to stay a little longer.
I don't get why everyone is so down on Marissa. I thought she did a much better job than both Adam and Christian this week. Her choreography was tougher and she did the emotional part very well.
I'm hoping that Adam goes this week. I was surprised the judges didn't give him a hard time about the Unicycle gimmick when they gave Jerry Springer a hard time about being gimmicky last year.

I do not think they are too rough on Mario. His dances have been sloppy and not particularly fun to watch. He and Karina are a little overbearing together.
I love Jason and Edyta, but they were over-scored with those 10s. Kristi and Mark do well, but they are too clean and boring when they dance.
I agree with Len, that Derek and Shannon had the dance of the night. If they don't get to the finale, it will be a shame. We really need a Derek freestyle this year.
Marlee, Christian and 'Cilla deserve to stay in it for now. Marlee is a great performer, even when she has some difficulty and 'Cilla has been doing well under Louis' guidance. Cheryl was on fire last night and Christian kept up well, but those costumes were awful.
As amusing as Adam can be, he should probably go. If not, then Marissa should(though I will be sad to see Tony go - love it when he's pissy with Carrie Ann). Marissa did well last night, but she just looks awkward dancing in general.
Poor the Gute. Now we definitely won't get to see Michael Winslow accompanying the Harold Wheeler orchestra during a Mahoney freestyle.

I laughed so hard when Adam came out on the unicycle - I will hate to see Adam go but I definitely don't want him knocking a legitimate contender out of the competition. Maybe they can keep him around like they did Kenny Mayne?
I didn't quite understand when the judges said that Kristi's and Mario's dances all look the same. They've been given superior marks for the most part, so why should they change now? Don't go all Simon on me! To me that's what Sabrina Ryan was like last season and the judges were still gushing about her up until the end.
I love the costumes this year, with the exception of Priscilla's gown last night (all that flesh colored material in the middle made her look all torso with no boobs). I know it's probably all part of the ballroom experience, but if a couple is doing the Paso Doble to a Motown song or an 80's song, I wish they would ditch the traditional paso doble costume and wear something that's actually better suited to the song, not the dance. Maybe I have it backwards but that's basically the only time I cringe when I watch the show.

I liked everyone this week. I thought the were all good. But Kristi and Mark are the best. Once again the music was not good and very distracting. I was also distracted by the costumes this weeks. Mario's gold jacket was not very attractive and his partner Karinia's skirt was had that gold lining that kept grabbing my attention. Cheryl and Christian looked like Batgirl and Neo from the Matrix. The only good outfit I saw was Jason's brown suit with gold lapels. I thought he looked really attractive.

Was I the only person who caught the snotty "What?" thrown at Tony last night? It seemed that CA was practically daring Tony to start something, but he did the professional thing and said "Nothing" to her nasty "What?". I swear she sometimes acts like a very bitter ex-girlfriend towards Tony.
piggylady, I agree with you. Jason looked so fine in that suit.
I think it's time for Adam to go.
