Episode Recap: Eviction Night 2
This must be a cruel April Fool's joke! Mahoney Steve gone? Surely there is some mathematical error. I am completely heart broken right now. Gone — after his best dance yet? And Marissa is still here? I don't understand it one bit. He even got the encore dance! Best man dance ever. At least I have that to remember him by. So long, Steve. I hope to see you on an ABC show this fall because you deserve it!
What does everyone think of the new policy of not revealing the bottom two? I have mixed emotions about it. On one hand, I found it refreshing because it did add a bit more suspense to the elimination process. The reveal that Marissa was safe in the middle of the show had me wondering who the unlucky contestant was. However, leaving Mario and Karina at the end with Anna and Mahoney Steve was pretty predictable. On the other hand, I think we need to know who the bottom two is so we know who is in jeopardy and who to give our votes.
I loved the segment on the unorthodox hobbies of the stars. How very Cilla of Cilla to have a psychic hotline. As much as seeing Kristi down those hot dogs was a surprise, Shannon serving as the president of the MacGyver fan club for a whole decade was the best reveal of the show. Well, Richard Dean Anderson is pretty awesome.

Kylie Minogue sang a new song off her album that I've never heard of and, most likely, never will again. But she did sing "Can't Get You Out of My Head" which was one of my favorite songs back in 2001-ish when I was in college. One note and I was instantly transported to a random dance floor in X fraternity at Penn State where I was most definitely drunk and chain smoking (fear not, I've since quit). A hint of stale beer and day-old vomit filled the air as I slurred "Dis is ther bessstt song everrrrrrr!" Thank you, Kylie. Thank you.
I'll be honest and admit I skipped the Macy's dance for tonight. I don't think you need me to recap this for you. If you didn't see it, I'm sure you didn't want to anyway. I will say that in fast forward it looked rather lively.
Well that's it for week 3 of the competition. I'm very disappointed but what are your thoughts on our beloved Mahoney Steve getting the axe? Who should have gone in his place? Please chat throughout the rest of the week as we gear up for the next round. See you then!

Carrie Ann saved Marissa. If she hadn't been such a jerk to Marissa, Marissa and Tony would have been the ones to go. I'm definitely going to miss Steve. It was refreshing to see someone so positive and appreciative. I now forgive him for some of the movies he made. I want to see him on another show or as a replacement for Samantha Harris. Did anyone find it amusing that his dance with Jonathan was better than his dances with Anna?

i definitely think marissa shouldve gone home...and once again the judges comments saved another person. remember when bruno called billy ray "crap"...yea that kept him in for a couple more weeks.
and of course im going to miss the gute...how can you not smile when you see him?

Adam Toyota should have gone for his tasteless remark last night about "pimps and prostitutes"....very uncalled for and not even funny. Those words are not to be used on such a wonderful family show. Go back to Comedy Central and stay there. Plus your dancing sucks.

I can't believe they had an hour to tell us what ONE couple was leaving, and they ran out of time! It seems wrong that they wasted all that time with interview after interview and repeated attempts at suspense and then cut Steve off in his interview and cut down his final dance. I'm disappointed in ABC, at least everyone else will be around to talk to Samantha Harris et al next week. Poor Gute lost his chance to say goodbye.

Krista I know how much you like Steve and I'll even admit in the beginning I thought, "What an upstanding guy". However, after tonight didn't anyone think he was just a little over the top? I mean it was like he was too nice. It may sound ridiculous to criticize a man for his niceties, but I could tell at times even Anna thought it was a bit much. Is it really appropriate on your way out of the show to be telling everyone how great your life is? It just didn't ring true. Anyone else agree or am I just a tad bit Scroogish?

Yes BBGirl I agree with Gute I'm know I'm being cynical but when I see people like Gute & Marissa always so damn happy my first thought is some one upped there medicine.
I have no problem with positive attitudes more people need to have them but some times people like that can get on your nerves.
That being said I still thought Adam should have been the one leaving but it just goes to show you Julianne has more fans than Anna. Unless they really improve soon Marissa & Adam should be the next 2 gone.

I enjoyed the "unusual hobbies" bit and Kylie's songs. I especially liked that she got off the stage to get closer to the audience and to do a little dancing. Although I thought the mango was cute, I wanted Cilla to do the encore dance.
I sooo wanted Adam to be eliminated.

Viczaesar - You really put into perspective how I feel about the eviction shows! One hour of fluff for those couple of minutes at the end and then they cut off Mahoney Steve!! I felt bad for him.
As far as people thinking Mahoney isn't that genuine, I guess I never thought of it that way. And I'm not one to believe in people or take them at face value right off the bat. But I guess I took it as Mahoney having no career and this show getting him back in the spotlight could be huge so he'd be crazy not to be so nice! I guess I just felt bad for him.

I really thought the "unusual hobbies" thing was a joke - it was a joke, right? While it was sad to see Steve go this soon, especially since Adam should've been the one to get the boot, we all remember that Wayne Newton stuck around a few weeks past his welcome last year.
I really hope they bring back the "bottom two" for next week, or at least tell us at the beginning of the show that they're not doing the bottom two, so I don't spend the whole hour questioning how Adam could've been above the bottom two in scoring...

You know why I was fooled - I totally didn't pay attention to all of them. I tape the show and watch it so I can fast forward through the boring stuff and I also write while watching so I totally zone out. Regardless, loser party of one right here!

At first, I thought the hobbies segment was real b/c it started off with Jason making those tiny ships. There are people who really do that but it wasn't until 1-2 minutes later that I got the April Fool's joke.

Yeah, they got one past me with the shipbuilding and the fan club, but I remembered "April Fools!" once they got to Kristi and her hot dogs.

And to be fair, it's a shame they didn't give the Gute more time to say goodbye, but then again Samantha spent at least a good minute trying to physically drag him off stage. If he had come right away, he probably would have had plenty of time.
