« The Closer
Episode Recap: "Manhunt"
That ending blew me away. Even more so for Lucas "Danny" Jones.
As I've been saying in recent weeks, my wife is a new convert to The Closer, and that violent encounter between Brenda and the perp really caught her off guard. "I thought things like that didn't happen to her?!" she said as Brenda got cattle-prodded. "They don't!" I retorted.
Though I wasn't following it quite 100 percent of the time, this episode really drew me in. Serial killer tales/mysteries, on big screen or small, really get my brain churning. This one was pretty tight, save for a somewhat hurried ending and a suprisingly pat epilogue. (Reminded me of a typical James Patterson/"Scores have died, but all is well on the lemonade porch" ending.) But I liked how Fritz calmed BL a bit by showing her the life she saved by putting a lotta lead into that cretin.
Amidst all the suspense, we got the "early onset menopause" diagnosis, which will be forgiven if only because it led to that surprise proposal from Fritz. (I don't watch previews, in case it was spoiled there.) Yeah, my eyes welled up as Fritzy called Brenda "a bit of an old-fashioned girl" and produced the Tiffany box. FBI special agenting pays well!
The few bullets: • I like how each episode this season seems to open in a unique way, starting with the "on video" style of the premiere and with the quiet slapping waves this week. It was particulary gorgeous on my HD signal. • Stern Brenda to the DDA: "Do not test me on this, sir." • Didn't that Jane Doe computer composite kinda look like Britney Spears? • Confession time: It turns me on how Brenda rattles off the individual PHD squad members' orders so easily and instinctively. Swoon. • Anyone else suspect the beligerent (and strong, and tan) dock supervisor for a moment? That he set up the boat to frame Reynolds? • Brenda Leigh to her doc: "I'm about 100 years too young!" Aww.
And my favorite line of the night: "Is it OK if I keep my own name?"
We'd have it no other way.

Oh. My. God. This was the BEST EVER. It held me in awe from beginning to end. I don't think I've ever actually yelled at the television before. GET OUT! GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT! GET THE GUN! SHOOT! SHOOT! SHOOT!
And now that I've calmed down... wasn't the proposal sweet? "I've arrived at that place where I can't imagine life without you." I gotta say, I haven't been a big fan of Brenda/Fritz, but he hooked me there.

I do watch the previews, mainly because I don't see how it is possible to avoid them. I watch a lot of TV and, as we know, TNT runs ads for this relentlessly all week long. I recall at least one or two during the second hour of The Company last night. And no, the proposal wasn't spoiled in anything that I saw, but THE ENDING WAS! They were pumping up about how there's only so long until the physco kills again, blah blah blah, "but before Brenda can stop him, she might be his next victim" or something simmilar, and then it showed some quick flashes from the climax. Of course, we all knew she was going to come out of it fine because if she didn't there would be no show, which just got a renewal this week. But still, it was a great episode which would have been a whole lot better if TNT hadn't sneaked the BIG ENDING already! Shame on you, TNT.
Like I said, terrific episode though, and the proposal was phenominal. I whooped for them once she agreed. I wonder what happens when she tells her team about that (and the menopause.) Should be a fun show next week.

Fritz and Brenda may not be steamy, but is sure is steady and grounding. He'll keep her from going off the deep end.
I really am enjoying the roller coaster ride of this season. I am not speaking of an individual episode, but how the episodes have varied all season long. We've had serious ones and humorous ones. I enjoy it when I get a surprise on a show.

All together now--Fritz ROCKS!! I was awwwing all over the place--during the fight with cattle-prod boy I was yelling "Shoot him AGAIN!!". And no, I am not a violent person, but he creeped me out from the beginning when he showed up to clean the boat. That's what I love about this show--from the beginning to the end it holds your interest. (Best line for me, "You are just asking me because you feel sorry for me")

I am definitely in the minority in regards to the Brenda/Fritz romance. Sweet and well-done as it is, I could only enjoy it as an entirely different show. I want more of Provenza and the rest of the squad. The cases are always very interesting and I love the clever exchanges between the detectives.....which there were none of in this episode.
That said, this is still my FAVORITE tv show and whoever put this cast together did a fantastic job.

This was easily one of the very best this season. An intense case and adorable Brenda/Fritz scenes. The engagement was done perfectly and the ending with the kiss was so sweet. I had tears in my eyes during the Brenda/Fritz scenes and was horrified watching Brenda struggle with the killer. A winner!

Awesome episode.
I like how in each episode it appears a different member of the squad is featured working with Brenda Leigh instead of just Gabriel. This time it was Flynn. He actually appeared quite efficient. And I love that they’ve toned down Taylor (I gotta meet Robert Gossett) and made him more likeable. I was totally wrong about who the murderer was until the very end. I assumed the Asst. DA was part of a murderous team.
Hated that Brenda Leigh walked into a dangerous situation alone but glad she was able to shoot her way out of it.
Tender moment #1 Fritz proposes. If Brenda had hesitated, eardrums would have ruptured from my screams.
Tender moment #2 Fritz being there for support for Brenda in the GYN office. Some men (ok, big assumption) would have run for the hills at the mention of the Big “M”. Fritz didn’t flinch.
Tender moment #3 The look of concern from the squad when Brenda left for the doctor’s office
Tender moment #4 Provenza’s voice on the end of the phone while Brenda is being stalked.
Tender moment #5 The kiss. If you have to ask what kiss, you weren’t paying attention.
Tender moment #6 Brenda wearing “the ring”. I was a little worried when she put it back in the box, bag and then the drawer.
I love this show. It is my Must See TV!

Great episode!
Am I the only one that caught Fritz pulling the ring/box out of another box - but when she has it in her office - it's in a bag? What gives there?
Love this show! Hope we haven't seen the end of S. Epatha Merkerson. She was hilarious describing her own menopause!

Loved the episode...love all of them! But what I love the most is I am a 46 year old southern girl who is actually going through all the physical and emotional changes that Brenda Leigh Johnson is going through so I can TOTALLY identify with her character on a personal level.

Monday night @ 8:00 CST is my favorite time of the week. This show is the BEST!!
I can’t believe my neighbor started knocking on my door just as Fritz got down on his knees to propose. I had to wipe my tears before I opened the door. I totally missed Brenda’s reaction so I can’t wait watch this episode once again tonight. I just fell more in love with Fritz b/c he was so supportive in the GYN office.
I’m glad Flynn had a larger role. I like how they’re now featuring a different squad member with Brenda. I hope they continue with this rotation. I do, though, miss Gabriel. But where was Daniels? She’s been gone for 2 weeks.

Oh how I LOVE this show!!!!!! I know that I have said it before, but it just keeps getting better!! I too have noticed that Daniels has been MIA for the last two weeks, but I also know that she does another show, can't remember the name?? Back to the latest episode, I also thought for a moment that the Asst. DA had something to do with it, especially after the search of his house found all that kinky stuff, but the writers are oh so good at what they do so I wrong with my assumption. I am so happy to have been surprised by Fritz's proposal, and happy that Brenda Leigh accepted it. I can't wait til' next week, but not for when her squad finds out (because they will be happy for her) but for when Chief Pope finds out...not to mention her parents!!!!
Bravo to the cast and crew for another well done show!!!
Also, I am sooo glad that Kyra got an Emmy nod again (& she better win!!) but the Emmy's really missed the boat for not giving the show as a whole a nod too!!!

This episode was perfect, but I have to agree with Matt. What a disappointment the whole early menopause storyline is. What next, Daniels won't be able to take down a suspect because she has cramps?
How about we see Provenza unable to respond to a crime scene because he has a constant need to urinate, but can't, so he's stuck at the urinal?
Most women I know (myself included) handle their menstration, pregnancies and menopause without a lot of drama - regardless of what tv would like us to believe.
That said, I'm glad she and Fritz are sharing the diagnosis together and he chose that moment to propose.

Another great episode from the best show on TV. I loved the proposal and her "Brenda Leigh" response. That was classic!
Did anyone else notice the similarities between the serial killer ending between the Closer and Silence of the Lambs? And I totally called who the killer was...
