Episode Recap: "Chuck vs. The Wookiee"

I have to admit, ironically enough, that I can't wait for the weekend to be over so Monday night can roll around. The Chuck/Heroes one-two punch is a winning combination, and tonight's episode is a worthy addition to the series.

So what was Chuck up to this time? He got involved with a diamond heist and a sexy, sneaky DEA agent. It was great to see Chuck using his own expertise (spotting all the security tech) instead of simply relying on the Intersect info in his head. Despite the lack of training in fieldwork, he didn't do too badly, slipping through the door before it sealed shut, navigating through the pool area... and throwing the plate at Corina when she tried to swipe the gem from him at his home. But he also got tripped up with his own insecurities (and thankfully it wasn't Morgan's fault this time!). Chuck had more trust issues to work out when he realized that even though he and Sarah did pretty well playing that game of guessing each other's answers, he really doesn't know anything about her, including her real name. And that goes for the audience, too: How big of a surprise was it to hear her friend Corina ask what Sarah's "cover" was this time? I was a little disappointed in Chuck when he chose to trust Corina, a stranger and an obvious loose cannon, over Sarah. But then it was a pretty big lie she fed him about a very touchy topic: Bryce. Chuck seriously needs to get over the whole Bryce thing... quick.

I was happy to see Morgan in a nonirritating capacity this time. I even felt sorry for him when Corina played him the way she did. As a nice change, he was actually useful when he showed up and Corina slipped the diamond into his bag. I'm surprised Casey didn't figure that out. Come on, she was kissing Morgan, after all!

Casey didn't have much face time in this episode, but he made the most of what he was given. So did Sarah, snapping his picture when he was in that "delicate" position (and who out there doesn't want to know what happened in Prague?). He didn't get to beat up as many bad guys as usual, but he sure showed that bed who's boss! The scene in the elevator was priceless, standing there handcuffed to a headboard. At least he got his pants back on. Most importantly, viewers now have an answer to one burning question about Casey: He's a boxers man.

Thanks to Sarah, I have a new home-security tip: Always keep stockings and an extra bar of soap handy to defend yourself when a ninja breaks into your house. Her friendship with Corina was an interesting love/hate relationship. More hate, though, when Corina spilled the beans about Bryce and double-crossed Sarah with the diamond. I thought Sarah should have been more upset with Chuck, but then she was distracted making sure she could get back to the Weinerlicious store before she lost her job. I love the silly touches like this, the super-secret spies worried about their blue-collar covers.

Some other moments worth mentioning:
•Corina putting the goldfish back into the tank in the middle of the fight.
•The various references to the hairy villain. Calling him a Wookiee was hysterical.
•The look on Chuck’s face when Morgan described the kiss.
•The thug blowing smoke in Casey’s face.
•Chuck’s idea to mail the diamond. (I didn’t mind the obvious product placement at all. It made sense for the story and worked well.)
•Chuck noticing that Sarah doesn’t like olives.
•Sarah’s sad whisper that her middle name is Lisa.

There were plenty more: Let's hear what you guys liked about this one!

Morgan was less irritating? Were we watching the same show?

I was hoping that when Chuck tossed the diamond to Corinna that he had actually put something else in the bag and was going to give the diamond to Sara and Casey.

Loved he scene where Casey is standing by the limo and Sara calls him and he trips one of the bad guys while barely moving.

Best line of the night: "I really haven't thought this through that well."

I loved this episode. Morgan was not a pain - in fact, the writers did a good job with his storyline this episode. So no Morgan whining from me.

Sarah and Chuck's first fight, and it is about the same thing all couples go through after the honeymoon period - trust issues. Did you or did you not tell me everything I need to know about your past? Oh so you did lie about her/him? And then of course if the couple gets thru the trust issues there is great makeup sex.

Sarah and Chuck just have makeup pizza.

There were too few Casey moments in this episode but they were priceless. When Corina pulled off her robe and he dropped everything ready for a quick roll in the hay? Ok, I am just guessing what happened in Prague but I bet it was hot. Sarah snapping his picture in bed and that scene in the elevator was priceless.

The chick fight between Sarah and Corina was good (who knew soap in sock can do that much damage?) And I loved it when she put the goldfish back.

It seems like Corina is the sister agent you love to hate, but the only one who understands you because you are in the same business so you are stuck with her. That must be terrible for Sarah to live a life without real family or real friends and guarding your emotions all the time.

Did anyone have a Buffy flashback to Season 4 and The Initiative story arc, when Chuck was asking questions during the briefing? I know I did and I love that he asks questions so he can be prepared as best he can before he goes on a mission. The whole "no they sell these cameras at the spy store at the mall" line cracked me up. Who knew?

And Chuck sneaking a look at Sarah changing into her uniform in the back of the car and Casey scolding him was hilarious. That is probably the only way Chuck is going to get a peek at Sarah.

Loved that Chuck sent the package priority mail but how did he know where to send it?

And I loved that he noticed she did not like olives on her vegetarian pizza. It's the little touches in their relationship (like Sarah sadly whispering her middle name), the pizza, the game playing, etc. that make my heart melt.

I can't wait until Saturday night to see this episode again.

tvdiva, I imagine amongst all the coded information in his head is the address of CIA headquarters or wherever that was.

nsgal -

Thanks. But I was really wondering which agency since everyone seems to claim jurisdiction over Chuck's brain. :)

Another great episode. I agree that letting Chuck be more confident on missions help keep the story moving. Also, I don't think Chuck needs to get over the Bryce thing, but we do need to see exactly what he did to him that has caused him so much anguish.

Another couple of great moments:

Carina: Well, this was fun.

Casey: Yeah. Goodby Carina, working with you has been...well lets never do this again.

Carina: Thanks, maybe next time you can shake it up a bit and pull the 4-leaf clovers out of the rotation.

Carina (to Chuck): Sure you don’t want to come back to my hotel room?

Chuck: As flattered and intimated as I am by your proposition, why me?

Carina: Well, you are sort of cutish, but the real reason is I love taking what Sarah wants.

Chuck: Me, no, Sarah doesn’t want me.

Carina: She probably doesn’t even know it herself yet.

The look on Chuck’s face was so hopeful.....I love this show - and I think I’m also in love with Chuck!

I too look forward to the weekend being over for the "good" tv to start...starting off with Chuck...woohoo. But, Morgan aka Martin is just purely annoying. He's not a likable sidekick. I understand he is socially inept, but gosh is it ever annoying, LOL.

I really enjoy this show. Tonight's episode was really great. I can see why Chuck has hangups with Bryce. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that Bryce planted the test when they were in Stanford together, which got Chuck kicked out of school.

PS: Corina was played by Mini Anden...who was the cheesy but GREAT guilty pleasure Fashion House

That is probably the only way Chuck is going to get a peek at Sarah.

For awhile, maybe. But Sarah-Lisa has some serious feelings for Chuck as it evidenced by her sad whispering of her real middle name. I think this episode she finally admitted, somewhat, to herself she has feelings for Chuck. Next season I'll wager they start dating for real, not just as a cover. During the dinner when Sarah got the call, I half expected her to pull him in the bathroom to tell him what's going on but the sister, of course, giggles gleefully thinking her brother's joining the land based mile high club :)

Loved that Chuck sent the package priority mail but how did he know where to send it?

Remember, he's supposed to know every thing about the government with his access to Intersect data. He seems to call it up when he needs to, so I'm betting her just wrote the address down without thinking. The line I liked was the Gov't guys shaking the box and say, "you didn't..." and the uncomfortable smirk on Chuck's face.

I must say, I like everyone on this show, but Casey is my favorite, he is hysterical. And honestly, I wish for more of Captain Awesome (Devon, is that is real name, Sarah is the one one who says it).

I get to spend an entire hour after a stressful Monday giggling and smiling... what more could I ask from a show? I just feel good after it's over, you know? Every week, I just love this show and the characters more and more.

I really don't even have much to say b/c I'm just so satisfied with it.

Mondays are my new favorite day of the week!

Loved this epi! However, maybe I noticed it more because everyone has been commenting on it, but I found Morgan to be incredibly annoying in this episode.
