Preview: War, What Is It Good For?

Kitty and the Walker clan return with more family drama. Calista Flockhart by Michael Desmond/ABC
Even though she was muffled by Fox censors at the Emmys, Sally Field still spoke volumes by taking the Outstanding Lead Actress award on Sept. 16 for her portrayal of the Walker family matriarch. It's an interesting coincidence that her acceptance-speech comment was about mothers and wars, because that's the focus of the drama's second-season opener. Field's character, Nora, is completely distracted by her youngest son Justin's deployment to Iraq, where he's been incommunicado for three weeks. — Joe Friedrich

All Sally said was .....G--D---
and that was censored. But when that tall formerly of Raymond guy made those sexist comments it was ok with the censors... how utterly stupid!
I hope B&S continues to have drama/humor like it did when Greg Berlanti was there. I'd hate for it to become a dreary, upsetting, dark and humorless show.

Sheindie, although Greg Berlanti stepped down as showrunner, he still remains an executive producer of B&S. That is, he remains involved in storyline development and script revisions. I'm quite confident that B&S will retain its balance of drama/humor.

I am so glad that they have gone with the storyline about Justin going to Iraq, being injured, kinda miscommunication about dead or alive and then him coming home. Can you just imagine what it must be like for a family that has really gone through this? I was so enthralled with the whole thing, they did such a good job.
The Walker's are everyday America in my book. They teach us all about loving our families and relying on family support through difficult times. I think that we all sometimes forget that. I just so enjoy this show, I wish it came on twice a week.
Sara, needs a hot, romance and I wouldn't blame Tommy if he strays alittle, you gotta keep your man happy! His wife needs help, in a hurry too. I just love all the issues that this show addresses. I have been campaigning hard for my children and all my friends that don't watch it, to watch it. I learn something from every show. After last week's show where Justin was missing and then hurt, my son texted me and said that he had just watched it and wanted to let me know that he loved me. He always thought I was a basket case, when he wouldn't check in and then he saw what anguish Nora went through, it hit home with him and made him understand that mother's love their children and worry about them..sometimes too much.
