Episode Recap: "Dirty Little Secrets"
What a night of baseball! I just got back from the Yankees-Orioles game here in New York, so I was ready to continue the night with some baseball metaphors (well, a couple at least). Wait, let me calm down from the ninth-inning excitement I just experienced (thank you, Jeter). OK, I'm collected and focused on our Chicago friends.
P.J.'s right: "Every pitch, every outfielder's movement has meaning. That's why the game is so fun."
How funny were Steph and P.J. reading the parking signs? I had heard about Steph's debt troubles that would arise this season, but what a hole she's dug for herself! "Could you lend me $5,000?" Oh boy. And that's just what she asked to borrow. Her ship is sinking and Andy's the life raft. Perfect. We all know Stephanie lives in a fantasy world with her love-life plan and designer-chocolate business in the two-bedroom apartment she can't afford. And I don't see a treasure chest filled with 22 grand, do you? She should just ask Bobby to lend her the cash.
Talk about a secret! He's rollin' in the dough and the plushy pillows. "You live in a museum?" What's better than teeing off from the balcony, right? I was happy when Bobby revealed that Gramps owns his apartment, because I was beginning to worry about his ornate style when Bobby is... well, fun, spiky-haired, adorable Bobby! The best was Andy thanking him for his college grant. No wonder he was always making up excuses about roommates and friends visiting. (And while we're on the topic of nonexistent people, how much time has passed in My Boys world if Kenny has been talking about Julie "for awhile"? Wasn't Kimmy just in the picture? I thought we were on semi-real time, but maybe not.)
And what better way to sign off tonight than with one awesome rich-guy story: It's Bobby's 16th birthday, he's making out with Chelsea Clinton at the White House, Seal sang to him, and he got a Porsche. Good one, Bobby. Well played.
Random hilarious comments:
Mike: "Pregnant with meat baby." Andy: "When did you become Burt Reynolds?"
Kenny: "Julie exists!" Andy: "So does Santa."

For the first time since I started watching this show (and I do love this show), I had a hard time accepting this episode, particularly since the one right before was the 100 Sexiest Bachelors. Bobby IS hot, and how could he possibly have kept his wealth a secret from the magazine (and therefore Stephanie, also). Surely that would have placed him on the list. And why would he have wanted to get into the party so badly - wouldn't he have been worried that he might know some of the other people there because he has to go to foundation openings and various other "rich" functions?
Still, I did love the interplay within the group - that part stayed true to them. And I agree, P.J. and Steph reading the parking sign - hilarious! And what about Kenny's subtle little head nods about what is true and what isn't - he had one with Mike (I think - it was either Mike, Kenny, or Brendan), and then again after Bobby's 16th birthday story, with Bobby.
Love this show, helps deepen my love for Chicago, and I wish these characters were real because they seem like a lot of fun.

I am not sure, this wasn't my favorite episode this season (though the reading of the street signs was funny because I can't count how many times I have done the same thing). I guess perhaps it was because it was a story line mover episode or maybe because I was trying to catch up on something on my DVR so I taped all Monday shows and watched them starting at 8:50 p.m. and so while I didn't have to watch any commercials, by the time I got to My Boys I had lost the fast forward accurately ability

I agree with escape. How on earth could Bobby NOT make the Bachelor list, even if his wealth is just by association?

I liked the episode, especially when Andy was going over Stephanie's finances and kept saying Meredith. Anyone watch the Andy's car shorts online, some pretty damn funny stuff there.

I think this show is great. While it may not have been my favorite episode, I love it. I thought it was so weird that Bobby kept talking about a roommate but we'd never met him. Cheers to the writers for clearing that one up. There are so many good lines in the show. I liked when they saw the apartment and someone (Andy?) made fun of the fact that Mike didn't have any furniture.
In regards to the hottest Bachelor list, I am in complete agreement. Bobby should've been on there. He's rich and beautiful. Not sure if anyone reads US Weekly or In Touch but one of them had Brendan on the list as hot new comers or something along that line. It was good timing for the episode but still a bummer that Bobby wasn't on it.

I love this show!! There were so many points that there would be a book to write if we didn't watch out! I think Mike is a great character and there are so many subtle things and not so subtle that he says and does.. but doesn't get acknowledged for.. the yoga pants debacle which he ended up saying were pajama's after all.. and his "yoga friends" husband saying.. oh I thought I had to be worried about my wife's new yoga friend... then Mike saying he wouldn't go out to celebrate with them as he mutters.. I have to catch my bus to catch my train.. too cute..
Luved Andy's going on about his briefcase and then later on when he opens it at Stephanies.. the whole lid comes off..
Like I said.. there are sooooo many things to write about I'd be writing a book here!
Luved the comment about Brendan and Burt Reynolds.. nice to see nods to our great actors throughout time!
I just love this show and I'm glad we're able to peek into the lives of this great esemble!

Hmm, I think with the bachelor thing Bobby turned them down or something along those lines. I was expecting him to explain it during the episode.
I loved Andy's bit about the scholarship, too.
