« The Biggest Loser: Couples
Recap: Episode 11
They’re ba-ack. Tonight’s big twist was that all the previous eliminated contestants got one more chance to weigh-in and return to the campus. The top male and top female with the highest biggest percentages of weight-loss would re-enter the competition. Everyone did pretty well continuing their weight-loss at home. Jenni who was eliminated week 1 lost 38 pounds. Mallory lost 42. Amanda, who along with her husband had a lot to prove, lost 46 pounds. Once Ali stepped up to the scale all eyes were on her, but most in shock over how great she looked. Her mom Bette-Sue beamed with pride as she lost a total of 67 pounds. Although many of the contestants weren’t skinny by any imagination, seeing their first week pictures made me realize how far they’ve all come and how much they’ve accomplished in just 10 weeks. Bette-Sue and Jen lost 49 and 48 respectively, while Jackie lost 67, just under the amount she needed to beat out Ali and return to the competition.
Over on the men’s side Lynn, who basically asked to be voted out in week 1, lost 64 pounds. Curtis lost an astounding 100 while Trent lost 105. Neil did pretty well for someone who seemed to not try hard at the ranch, and lost 55. Paul lost 70 and Mark, not surprisingly, lost 90. All I was thinking was how much I wanted Bernie to beat him out. But he fell short, losing 88 pounds, which wasn’t enough to return with Ali.
So now we’re back to 8 players, and it feels like this season is never going to end. The black team is clearly not dealing with Bernie’s elimination well and adding Ali to the team, a friend to Blue, doesn’t help. Not to mention, Ali continues to wear Pink. At her first work-out since coming back, Jillian kicks her butt but she barely seems to break a sweat. Whatever she did to train at home has worked.
This week’s challenge involved stationary bikes, which we’ve seen just about every season and I’m not going to go into much more detail as it was a snoozer. But I will mention that Dan won, his prize being 2 votes during the elimination.
At the weigh-in, everyone is tense, especially Jillian. Allison starts questioning her girl Brittany which causes Jillian to just about lose it. Can we say awkward? Allison I’m sure was asking the questions that the producers told her to, but Jillian didn’t seem to care. Ali then steps on the scale and loses 7 pounds. Mark also loses 7 pounds. Though Dan only loses 4, lower than his usual number, he’s stays above the yellow line as Brittany only loses 2 and Maggie loses a whopping zero. As the show ends in its usual montage of the possible players to go, we’re left hanging, not knowing who will be voted out.
So were you glad to see Mark and Ali return? Who do you think will be voted out, Brittany or Maggie?

The way they brought people back in was unfair. I mean, the people who had stayed on the show longer had a HUGE advantage here. Granted, that showed more in the guys than in the ladies, but only because Ms. Pink did a crazily good job off the show.
That said, I've never been fond of Mark and I'm not all that happy he's back. I wish Paul had had a moment with Kelly and that they'd brought up his hospitalization (though the timeline is fuzzy -- perhaps this happened before his hospitalization.)
That said, Kelly and Dan are my two top picks these days. Kelly is a long shot -- but if she can make it until they're all sent home, I think she'll do well. That's a big if though.
And I loved the tattoo reveal.

FUUUUUUUUDGE!
Only, I didn't say fudge. God damn Mark. AND we had to sit through a portion of the sob-fest from a few weeks ago. If he, or anyone on the (former) blue team, is below the yellow line are we going to have to go through that again??
I couldn't believe his 90 beat Curtis or Trent's 100+ pound weight loss. That was really impressive--and it's not even the finale yet!
I agree this season feels like it's never ending. I said "who is that?" a few times when those kicked off were weighing in--it just feels like so long ago that we met those people. I'm hoping there's two people being kicked off in the near future. Did they do this because of the writer's strike? Were they unsure if they needed more time? And I actually enjoy this show!! But...I also need to know the ending is around the corner.
And I'd like to know what Jillian actually said. It seemed to be two expletives in a row. The first one I got but the second thing? Not sure of.
And will this show ever NOT be 2 hours? Did we really need a cliffhanger? WTF?
OK, I'm going to go spray some Pam into my Ziploc bags while chewing Extra 5 calorie gum.

I have to say that I really like the idea of giving those who were sent home a second chance. For one, it probably helped keep them motivated if they were told about it. Also, those people who were eliminated because they were viewed as threats have a chance to prove themselves, and possibly compete 1-1. Even if you're not happy with those who rocked it at home and came back, you have to admit it's a great twist for this show!

That was a nasty, uncomfortable 2 hours of television. The blue team - well, I want to slap those guys to get them to shut up. The black team - well, I want to slap them to get them to "man up."
Jillian lost it, but what she should've been talking about is the POINT of this show, at least for the contestants is to change their lives, and this 10th-grade focus on the competition aspect isn't helping.
Finally, I can only laugh at Allison, who keeps fawning over the blue team that she perceives as the "cool guys," despite their thinly sublimated uh, issues and embarrassing braggadocio. It's fat camp, for goodness sakes, Allison - there aren't any "cool kids."

I really enjoy this show but hate how arrogant the guys "team" has gotten. I really hate that Mark came back, I was so glad when his arrogant butt was sent packing two weeks ago. Just once I would like to see a female win this show. The females really need to stop feeling sorry for themselves and remember that even if they don't win the big prize they have won a new lease on life and lost all that weight as well.

I was really hoping that now that they were down to six people the show could be shortened to an hour. I already gave up American Idol this season because I had already invested so much time in the Biggest Loser that I wanted to stay with it to the end. When setting the DVR for Dancing with the Stars, I see that is conflicting with BL also. My thought was, "Okay, that's the overblown result show so I can miss that and still enjoy the performances on Mondays." Then Biggest Loser brings back two contestants and we're back to eight. Since one of those coming back is Mark, my dilema might be solved. The first time Mark cries, I'm gone!
I so wanted Curtis to come back. I really felt sorry for him and Mallory when they were voted off.
I was so hoping that it would be Mark and his brother below the yellow line last night and Mark would be voted off again. I'm now hoping it's Maggie that gets voted off. I have nothing against her, but I just like Brittany better. I think it's her contagious smile.

I didn't like that they brought back two former contestants however, I think I am in the minority here but I actually like Mark and was glad that he was one of the two that came back.
I am sure that the blue team was upset about Bernie leaving but I think they were more upset about Ali and Mark coming back. Also, I think they were jealous when Jillian was helping Ali during her work out. Maybe they felt that Ali and Mark didn't deserve the 2nd chance to come into the game or were just depressed that two of the biggest competitors are back. Who knows - but they were really emotionally defeated this week.
I was glad that Bob made note at the end that the biggest loser of the week was a female. Enough with the whining about "we can't lose as much as the guys". They really won't win with that attitude.
YIKES about Jillian. She went off on Allison for no really good reason. Guess this competition is taking an emotional toll on her also.
Finally did they really have to drag out the elimination until next week! Two hours and we didn't even get to see who was going home. BLAH!

I was pretty proud of almost all the ones that were sent home! That 60 year old dad kicked BUTT!! Betty Sue, didn't do too badly either! But I am offended at Ali not joining the team! She is hurting them and I am mad at her. Mark coming back, he kicked butt too, so he deserves to come back! It is DAN that I can't stand! He is like the uncool kid that gets a chance to hang out with the football team! He is a nerd and creepy. Jillian losing it was crazy! I kind of felt badly for Sammy (I mean Alison) but this was a pretty good show until they left us hanging with the elimination!! I can't wait to see the makeovers next week though! FUN!!

Since I already got next week's issue of TVG and it includes pictures of two of the makeover recipients, I already know who gets voted out (and who doesn't).
P.S. Please tell me where in the world 170 lbs is a size 8!!!!
I am soooooooooo glad someone on the shoe finally brought up that there will never be a woman winner on BL as long as men are competing. It's absolutely unfair. While the contestants are losing weight and that is the biggest prize, it would also be nice if the women actually had a shot at winning the title and the money.
Yes, it was tres uncomfortable with Alison and Jillian. I'm sure she was just asking the questions the producers told her to ask. However, after Jillian's first outburst, I would have moved on.
If I'd had a pink shirt, I would have kept that color too since I love pink.

Cruciatus- Don't forget to stop by Subway first........!
As much as I liked seeing everyone weigh in again, I don't like them coming back. I never like when reality shows do this. Seems like a cheap ploy to draw things out.
Jillian may have slightly overreacted but I like that she seems to care about her team so much. Plus, let's not forget that the weigh in's are heavily edited. Who knows how long Ali was questioning Brittany before Jillian stepped in.

I guess they invited two eliminated players back to draw out the eps since in the beginning two people were going home at time instead of the usual one. For those still in the game, it probably is a bit frustrating to think you only have five people to beat and then you have seven. However, contestants have to know, there are no rules and anything can happen!

Oops, that should be show not shoe above.
And I'd like to know what Jillian actually said. It seemed to be two expletives in a row. The first one I got but the second thing? Not sure of.
Yes, it did seem like one big beep. I have no idea what the second tirade was.

Is it just me? It seems like Dan gets more than his fair share of airtime. Maybe he just gives good commentary. His voice reminds me of self-help guru Anthony Robbins.
