Episode Recap: March 16, 2008

Revenge of the James! What a day that must have been for him: voted out, voted back in and standing on a spinning chain for almost 5 hours to take the HOH competition. That's determination right there. I got to hand it to him; he must have wanted it bad. He must have been in some pain though to make that stupid deal with Natalie. At least I hope that's why he did it. Matt should be his primary target and he let Natalie convince him to keep her and Matt off the block if she'd drop.

Matt has to be the luckiest guy in this game. Natalie is doing all the work for him and he basically lies to everyone and never answers for it. Natalie is so sweet and naive. I want to feel sorry for her but I can't understand how she doesn't see Matt for the liar he is. His pathetic and half-hearted attempts to show his appreciation to her are so embarrassing he should be ashamed of himself. Minutes into the HOH competition he was trying to convince James he voted him back in the house. He even tried to let Adam take the fall for it. At least Sheila had the backbone to admit she voted for the mystery guest. Matt has surpassed Josh as my most hated house guest and that says a lot because Josh is pretty vicious.

I got a kick out of Adam, Matt and Ryan's interpretation of the bible stories. "Jacob married 2 girls and their maids. Jacob's the man!" and "Goliath was like 9 feet tall. That's a big dude!" It just amazed me to learn the two bibles floating around haven't up and burst into flames with everything that has gone on in that house. Be on the look out for a bolt of lightning, it's got to be coming!

If anyone is getting hit with a lightning bolt, it's Josh. One minute he's shaking a feather duster out onto the beds of people he hates (that was slightly funny though), the next he's crying over a letter from home. He's so up and down! He verbally berates all the women and then tries to patch things up with them. He needs to pick a personality and kick the other 9 dancing around in that head out. I shall henceforth call him Sybil.

The good thing about James coming back and winning HOH was the paranoia it caused in the house. Who would James put up? Ryan? Sybil? Could Adam convince James he wasn't the third vote for the mystery guest and avoid the block? In the end, it was Ryan and Sheila. It made sense because they were 2 of the 3 who didn't vote him back in the house. But why did James have such hard feelings toward Ryan. I kept hearing the term "back-doored" being used, but that was not what Ryan did to him. Back door was what happened to James in season 6 — two people went up on the block with the plan to replace one of them with James at the veto meeting and send him home. In this instance, Chelsia won the POV and took herself off the block and Ryan had to replace her with someone. James was not the target all along. Going out the back door sucks, but sometimes it just happens. James needs to get over it.

But nothing is over until the Veto lady has sung! Will James continue to keep his word to Natalie? Do you think James is being too hard on Ryan? And where was the degrading food competition this week? Post your thoughts on what icky fate out house guests would have met below. Happy St. Patty's Day everyone! — Krista

I really can't stand any of the men in this show, except Ryan! I hate Matt and Josh and I know James was pissed but he knows this is a game for crying out loud!!
He WAS right though. How stupid is it to vote the person you voted out 2 minutes ago, back in?? DUH!!
I couldn't care less WHO wins, but Matt can go anytime!!

Krista~Great recap as usual.

"I shall henceforth call him Cybil." I died laughing. Perfect!! I shall too!!

Ryan is the only decent guy in the house, and I agree, I dislike ALL the rest of the guys. For me, Cybil is still the worst. Then Matt. And as for Natalie? Sorry, but I don't feel sorry for her. She's a ridiculous moron whose voice drives me crazy.

I guess the only woman I can tolerate is Sharon. Oh, what am I saying, I like NONE of these people, but if I had to pick someone to win, it would be Ryan.

Well put me on the list of hating all the guys in the guys besides Ryan. I hate the way that Matt is treating Nat. Adam is too disgusting for words. Josh acts all high and mighty. And James annoy the living daylights out of me. And as for the girls....well I don't like them either. Nat is an idiot. Chelsia is a b*tch. Sharon and Sheila, those 2 don't annoy me have as bad as the other hg's. So ryan is the only descent person in the house.

Anyway, for the first time I have to agree with James about how stupid the hg's are. I have been saying that for the past week.

I so agree about Josh getting hit by the lighting bolt. I don't want to be anywhere near him when that happens. But he does have to remember Karma.

Something they didn't air on tonight's show. Apparently they took away one of the beds in the house. Since Chelsia is acting all b*tchy, she isn't sleeping in the hoh room cause she doesn't want Ryan sleeping in her bed. So Ryan is sleeping in a sleeping bag on the floor.

I also agree about James. He so needs to get over the bdooring. Its game. These things happen in this game. Its not like you were shot....Get over it. That's another reason why Im not liking him.

Yeah, what happened to the Food comp? They are probably not doing it this week.

Time for.......SPOILER ALERT

James won POV. And he used it on Sheila. So he went back on his word(no surprise there since everybody lies in this game) and he replaced Sheila with........Matty.

End of Spoiler Alert and Happy St. Patrick's Day.

The phrase is "lightning bolt." There is no such thing as a "lightening bolt."(I guess a "lightening bolt" would turn all the colors into pastels?) Also, if you're naming Joshuah after Cybill Shepherd, he'd have another "L" but if you're naming him after the Sally Field movie where the title character had Multiple Personalities, it would be "Sybil."

Pretty much everyone in the Big Brother House comes off bad provided they last long enough to make an impression--the game is inherently ugly and people are forced to be dishonest, unpleasant and nasty. I don't blame James, Chelsia, Ryan, and Sharon for any negative things they've done. Joshuah doesn't really bother me all that much, either, except for the stupid spelling of his name. I'd like to see Matt voted out just to avoid hearing his annoying accent. And Sheila would be a good ouster too, ever since she became a rampaging bitch just because someone called her on the "single mother" thing.

Yes, you're correct, the correct spelling of the name would be Sybil. But I figure everyone got Krista's drift anyway. The point was the humor, not being a great speller.

Dearest Staley-poo,

Thank you so much for the grammatical save! Guess I'm not perfect after all! Who knew? Please stop by my Dancing with the Stars blog starting tonight in case I screw up again!

Over and over these HGs prove that they are the dumbest ever. They voted James back in when he obviously is a better competitor than many of the already ousted HGs. Then Nat makes that deal with him and, I believe, she actually had him agree to not nominate her or Matt. Slick players may jump on that specific wording of the deal.

I have to give James and Nat props to hang on there for over 4.5 hours. Endurance comps are never fun or easy and the lack of food, water and spinning while exerting muscles to stay on is not a good combination. Had Nat not gotten sick to her stomach, I think she would have out lasted James, despite his determination.

As far as the food comp, they usually don't have one when they have an endurance comp. Also the HGs got a letter from Allison Grodner, the exec producer, that they have to tone down all the sexcapades, nasty talk, and foul language. Apparently this season of BB has lost sponsors and isn't doing well in the ratings, and James let out the f-bomb live at the start of the endurance comp and the censor was a little slow on the dump button. If you have the show on tivo, it was just after the guinea pig close up. So as part of their "punishment" the HGs were denied certain rewards including no pizza party to celebrate the new HOH like they normally get.

I'm so glad that James won HOH...of course, I already knew b/c I looked at the spoilers. wednesday to sunday is just too long to wait to find out who won HOH...my mind can't take it!
I like James, but I think he made a mistake w/ his deal w/ natalie. it was ok to give her safety for the week, but he could've said no to the deal with matt and I think eventually she would've fallen. I mean, she was already sick, so it was only a matter of time before she dropped. he could've just let her drop without giving her his word. I understand that he's upset about being voted out and lied to, but he has to understand that even though ryan put him up, there were people in the background trying to get him nominated, like matt. and sheila, but I don't have any beef w/ her currently. just b/c ryan did the dirty work doesn't mean he has to take all the heat. if they don't get matt out of there soon, he'll win.
Natalie is such an idiot...I, too, want to feel sorry for her, but I just can't seem to muster it. I'm hoping that someday soon she sees him for what he really is and turns on him. I would still laugh if james put up matt if someone uses the veto. oh well...everyone else breaks their word. james might as well too. that's how u play the game.

OK - first let me apologize in advance if in the rant to follow that I accidently reveal spoiler information...I watch BBAD, read jokersupdates.com and watch live feed clips posted on YouTube....so I can't always remember what has been shown on the Prime Time show....So, here goes:

James playing for HOH to get his "Dignity" back!?! WTF!?! After the pics I have seen of him and his boyfriend...it's gonna take quite a bit more than just hangin from a chain to do that!

I'm still PO'd that BB pulled that little trick of allowing him back in. It frustrated me to no end to call in my votes to have a previous HG come back to have the use their little play on words..."chance"....and basically ignore what America was telling them they wanted. We went from America's Player/Eric last year, where our voices were continually heard...to this year having them thumb their noses at us! ARGH!!!!

And to add salt to the wound....wait till you see what James does with the POV ceremony! Not only has his dignity completely left him...he is a major hypocrite!

Also, I won't devulge the exact details, but there is a clip on Youtube where a HG is describing how the producers were trying to get them to do something to "shake up the game" during their Diary Room session. This would be a major shakeup of the game! NOT FAIR! I don't want to spoil it for anyone who just watches the Prime Time show...but anyone who wants to can go find it on YouTube.

I have an idea for the producers of BB that would regain some of my faith in this show...how about this...After Tuesday's show and the POV ceremony...put up another America's Choice Vote....Ask US which HG we want voted out....and don't limit it to just the two on the block! Let us choose from ALL the remaining houseguests! That will send a clear message to not only the producers but to the HG also what America is thinking of how the game is being played! Give them a chance to use that annoying siren again...after Julie announces who the HG's voted out, have them return to the living room and let them know who America wants out! That would be a priceless moment!

Some would say this season has had so many twists and turns...Expect the un-expected? I don't think so...I think the producers have continually screwed up and keep scrambling to cover their butts. Well, when in doubt, listen to the viewers!!

OK...rant over...thanks for listening! :)
Oh, and to the spellcheckers/linguists, please forgive me any errors...typing with such passion can do that to you!

While I don't care for any of these people a whole lot, I am rooting for the group of four, so I was happy that James won HOH.

I actually didn't care who won HOH as long as it wasn't Matt or Natalie. Though in the end, it didn't matter because of James' deal with her. I do have to give both James and Natalie props for staying up there that long. I knew Adam was going to be the first one off because you could tell at the end of Wednesday's' show he was already having problems and it had barely been 5 minutes.

Even though this is a game, I can understand James' anger at Ryan and why he felt Ryan backdoored him.

See, the group of four made the deal with Ryan about not putting him up for two weeks and Ryan agreed to it. So when James got put up, he probably felt that Ryan was just jerking their chain the entire time and was never going to honor their agreement. So if one of them got off, Ryan would just put another one of the four up and never Matt.

Oh, just want to say Joshuah going through the house with the feather duster was hilarious.

Ok, so I'm realizing that I may need to go back to the blogs and spoiler sites just to keep up here.

James and a boyfriend? I didn't realize he was bisexual. Hmm. Interesting.

Love the Sybil comment, Krista. My sister and I have been calling our mom that for years after I read the book in jr. high :) Ahh, children of the 70's.

I'm really liking this winter edition. Not b/c I like any of the people playing, but just b/c it dirty, gossipy, and entertaining during these winter doldrums ;)

I wonder if CBS will do it next winter? It seems like enough people are watching it, even with the tv shows coming back...

I was a little surprised to see James win HOH mainly because that type of contest usually favors smaller people. He's not that big but I give him credit for winning a tough challenge. Natalie showed some toughness we guessed she probably had. She didn't win but she kept Matt off the block and won some respect like Dick did last year in a similar challenge. I was curious about one thing on the show. I wonder how far into the challenge did Julie start letting them squat, since she said no squatting at the start.

It was easy to understand why Ryan was put on the block. Sheila was a bit of a surprise but maybe James knows Sheila was the catalyst to him being back-doored. Or, more likely, he wimped out and put up easy marks. James honored his word to not put Matt on the block, so far, but it is really not that big a deal. One time in 40 days that someone openly keeps their word is not exactly a character maker. For some reason, I think James is scared of directly challenging Matt.

I think that Ryan will be vetoed off the block and Matt or Natalie will be the replacement and get sent home. Back-dooring may well be James' plan all along since he put up easy nominations.
