« Big Brother 9
Episode Recap: April 27, 2008 (Finale)
With tonight's crowning of Adam as Big Brother 9 champion, that just about wraps up our coverage of the season. But below is a conversation between Krista and I about tonight's show and some overall thoughts about the season. We've enjoyed bringing you this blog, and look forward to doing it again when the next season begins in July. Happy reading, and, as always, share your thoughts as well! — Adam
Krista: 6-1!. I'm so shocked! Adam: Yeah, me too. I'm disappointed, but I sort of expected it to be a landslide. Krista: Did you? Wow, I didn't at all. I thought for sure his demeanor at the round table was going to shoot him in the foot. Adam: Well, I should say before tonight I expected a landslide, but after the round table I did have second thoughts. But he played the charity card, which I think won some people over. Krista: Well, I hope he makes good on his promise. Adam: Me too. Krista: He's going to feel really dumb when he finds out he was fired for a comment about autistic kids and all along he's been pledging to take care of them with the money. Hopefully he'll get some redemption! Adam: Yeah, let's hope. I honestly did come to like Adam throughout the season. Despite the rocky start, seemed like a pretty good guy. I don't think the rest of the jury felt the same about Ryan. Krista: That surprises me. I think Adam did a lot more promise breaking. For me, Ryan seemed to be able to get away with going back on his word because he wasn't over the top about being in an alliance with someone. He wasn't swearing up and down and then stabbing them in the back like Adam did to Sheila. But I think Adam is a good guy at heart, despite my constant comments otherwise. His face mystified me all year, but that's a pretty shallow reason to not like someone! Adam: Haha. It's no secret that I was pulling for Ryan all year long, and we all know how you feel about Jen. Do you think she hindered from winning in the end? Chelsia was pretty vocal about her in the roundtable. Krista: I like Ryan myself, and I wouldn't have been sad to see him win despite Jen, that vile woman. I wish I could say for sure she ruined it for him, but I don't know. Maybe it hindered Chelsia's vote, but I don't think anyone else cared. When I look back on it, however, I'll definitely blame her just for fun! Adam: I was most surprised by James' vote. I thought he, above all, would vote for gameplay, which perhaps he did in his mind. I personally think Ryan played a better game than Adam, but James did say he "hated" what Ryan stood for when he was evicted. Were you surprised by any of the votes in particular? Krista: I agree that Ryan played a better game, but I think the jury did vote for who they thought played the best game, so I'm not surprised by anyone's vote. Remember, they have not seen what we've seen — they voted blind. If I had to pick one surprise vote, it would be Sheila. Even as she cast her vote she seemed to be incredibly angry at Adam. Adam: Speaking of bitter, I think Sharon gave Adam her vote because she was still mad at Ryan. Krista: No doubt, and she kind of should be. When he answered her round table question, you could tell he had no other answer for her other than that he never truly had her back. I think if he were a bit more honest at the round table he may have gotten a few more votes. Adam: Maybe. I was disappointed that the entire segment with the other non-jury evictees was dominated by Jen and Allison, though it was kind of juicy. I just wished the others had been able to tell the jury members things that might've made them second guess their votes. Krista: Yes! Didn't the jury used to see the season before they voted? I could be wrong about that, but that was always my impression. There is never enough time in the finale episode. All I want to hear is the reactions from the jury members on things they didn't know, and we only get to see bits and pieces. I'm glad Adam was outed for what he said to Natalie and they addressed what a scum bag Matt is, though. They didn't talk to Amanda, Alex or Parker. And where was Neil? I think he died. Adam: I think he wasn't there because he left voluntarily, and no longer became a part of the game. Who knows? Krista: I think they at least could have brought him back. He's like the dog on The Brady Bunch who all of the sudden was never seen or heard from again and no one ever talked about. Krista: But what about James winning the jury prize? Adam: I had him pegged to take the prize. I would have voted him for, but I had to keep my journalistic objectivity. Krista: I agree. I would have voted for him, too. I have no journalistic objectivity. I was just lazy and didn't get up off the couch. .Adam:Yeah, and it's Big Brother. There's no need for credibility or integrity! Krista: Sheila of course, came in second like in everything else. Second is last, as we've learned this season on Big Brother. Krista: What wasn't addressed that you wish got some air time tonight? Adam: Hmmm, that's a good one. I guess I don't have any lingering questions, understanding that the jury didn't see all the footage. I was wondering why Eric from Season 8 was there without Jessica. Do you think they have parted ways? Krista: Hahaha! If she knows what's good for her! I love seeing old house guests in the audience. Danielle, Dick, Janelle, Erica, Eric — it's nice to know CBS doesn't forget that they embarrassed themselves on TV for their ratings. Adam: Don't forget about Whaaaamber! Krista: I didn't see her!! Was she crying? Adam: Surprisingly no. She was a couple rows in front of Eric. Sorry for getting off topic! I'll put your question back to you. What do you wish had been addressed that was not? Krista: I wanted a couple more lies outed. I wish we had more time and a post- show after the houseguests have seen the whole season so we can see them fight again. We have to wait for them to do interviews. Adam: Speaking of which...I am interviewing Adam in a couple hours! Krista: Lucky you! Adam: I hope I can understand what he says. We know how he gets wound up and loses control of his tongue. Krista: Yeah, we saw that in the jury round table. Please let us all know how that interview goes and where we can read it. Adam: Well, I am actually hoping that the readers here will post their burning questions! I'll be more than happy to ask him a few of them. (Shameless plug alert!) There will be a piece in this week's newsstand copy of TV Guide, and the full interview will be published on TVGuide.com sometime this week! Krista: I guess that's a rap for Big Brother 9. But you know what? Big Brother 10 starts in just over two months! And where would I be but right here with my immature comments and generally strange observations? Adam: That's right! We might be the only team that made it through this season. And we'll be back in July!! Krista: We should totally be on BB 10 as the secret twist. Not! Adam: Any parting thoughts on this season? Krista: I think this season started horribly and ended on a higher note. After the couples split, we got to see some interesting strategy and game play. I look forward to next season and hope the twist is a lot better. Thanks to all the posters who put up with us, post such great comments and appreciate that this blog is a labor of love! Adam: I couldn't agree more. Just watching tonight's show-opening recap, I was shocked at how much I actually ended up liking this season when it started out as such a dud. But I'm a sucker for Big Brother. It shall remain my guiltiest of pleasures. I, too, appreciated all the comments and hope a few of our loyal readers will post some questions before the interview. So, let the Season 10 predictions begin! Krista: Yes, and let's keep it going all the way to July 13th. See you all then!

Please ask Adam why he had to treat Shelia like a piece of crap. He said he wants nothing to do with her again... is that still true?

Of course ask Adam after all the issues that came up surrounding his charity ... if/when he is going to make the donation. I'd like to see him hand over a check.

Well, I must be in the minority of the rest of America and I'm surprised about you two, Krista and Adam.
I might have voted for James to pick up dog poop on his supposed trip through the US, but I'd never give him money!!!! He's gross. Everything about him is gross. There wasn't anyone on the jury who was worth being named "favorite juror", but I for sure wouldn't have voted for James.
We all called it right about Adam winning. I thought it would be a landslide, but Josh kept his alliance with Ryan all the way through. And I think Jen played a big part in Ryan not winning. Although I was impressed with Adam's gameplay.
This is my guilty pleasure, but I'm still relieved this particular one is over.
Thanks for the great blogging. See you this summer.

First, and foremost, thank you Krista and Adam for your dedication to blogging this show. I certainly look forward to your blog of the summer edition. Don't worry about what others say about your strange observations Krista. Some of us love, and appreciate, the styles of both you and Adam. Heck, if you split up Lou and Bud you just have two different actors.
I am not the least bit surprised in a 6 - 1 vote for Adam, as you know. I am surprised that it was Joshuah who voted for Ryan instead of James. I must have forgotten the Chelsia factor for James and the insanity factor for Joshuah, though I though he had the best chance of a surprising vote.
I think what helped Adam the most with the jury was that he made a more compelling case for his gameplay. Sheila was the prime example in that she made such a case about Adam betraying her, asking why. I think he was convincing when he said he always did plan on taking her to the final two but the game got in the way. I think others had to be reminded that all the backstabbing was not personal, but part of the game. Ryan seemed to never defend his personal relationships and just made his game to look like an anti-personal effort. Generally people will not give half a million dollars to someone who didn't care about them, if given a choice.
I agree with Krista that the Jen thing only seemed to affect Chelsia's vote. I don't think anything said would have changed Sheila's vote for Adam. Like many said, Sheila and Adam were the old married couple. I agree with Adam in that I wanted to hear more from the non-jury evictees. It sure would have beat rehashing the boring things we knew already. I wonder about Neil now too. I think James got the jury prize because we saw a better side of him in the limited jury segments. More objective. Or, maybe, they just wanted to give him the money to keep riding in hopes he is never on tv again.
One thing I wanted to know was if Adam and Sheila actually got along a lot better than what was shown on the show. I always wondered if old married couples actually liked each other more than it appears from the outside. Ask him what the A-baller nickname was all about Adam, please. I never could figure out if it was a screwed-up version of eight-baller (because of the pool table) or a screwed-up version of eye-baller (because of, well, his crazy eyes).
I thought it was a great season. It had it's lame moments. It had it's great moments. It had love and hate. Mostly, it had babes in bikinis. What more could one want?

I'd like for someone to tell me why no one ever called Sharon out on her "blue blankie" and the constant twirling of it around her neck at night. Talk about a "call out" if that had been Shelia!! this girl had more "emotional issues" than almost anyone in the house, but not a word was said to her about it, while Shelia was called out over everything, not to mention verbally abused.
Never thought I would see so many "bottom of the barrel" house guests in one season. I cared more for Shelia than anyone, mostly because how terribly bad everyone else treated her. Could these people make their parents more proud? I mean, come on...Chelsia's parents would have to be in a traveling carnival sideshow not to be totally embarrassed at her behavior, not to mention her potty mouth, which rivaled any of the guys.
And why didn't James ever tell his "secret"...which undoubtedly had to be about his gay porn experiences. Chelsia should have a good gyn checkup.
This group of house guest made Dick and Danielle seem like saints!

I was hoping they'd reveal the "truth" about the guinea pigs and their "relationship". I'd love to have seen Sharon's face since that bit of ...stuff... cost her the game.
To answer a question, -the houseguests used to go home after eviction and they could see the entire show, -but it clearly cost , -I can't think of her name, -but the obvious winner the game because they saw her diary room rants where she crowed about her brilliant strategy and deceptions. After that, they went to the sequester option.
The grilling was edited, of course, and the guys were pretty much sick of everybody except Matt by the time it was done. Apparently, Josh chose to make fun of them most of the time, -in particular Adam's face and Ryan's weight. Sharon was the biggest disappointment to them, though Ryan still claimed he didn't have a deal with her. After "the roast" but before the show, the boys were irked with most everybody on the jury, except Matty. Ryan was stewing that he still has to show up at the premiere of "What Happens in Vegas" with Sharon.

Thank you Krista and Adam for wading through the muck and mire that was Season 9. Blogging about a bunch of degenerates week after week was no easy task.
James is America's favorite juror? Blechhh! The guy who claimed to be so non-materialistic certainly seemed happy that he won. He also stated his hopes that the winner would blow all the money "partying."
Chelsia looked extra skanky tonight with that dress and that weird coverup she had on her back tattoo. Probably a side effect from her romps with that syph-ridden whoremonger.
Sharon calling someone out about throwing comps? Isn't that what she claimed to do?
Joshuah teaching a lesson about respecting others? This coming from the guy who verbally assaulted several women and threatened them with physical violence. Yeah, a real classy guy.
I kind of feel sorry for Nat. She revealed so much about herself in this show. You know she can never go back to that barista job. I can only imagine how many guys would be asking her about cream and milk, and how many ounces she swallows in a day.
Sheila needs to get over herself. None of them deserve the money over anyone else. It's not like they found a cure for cancer or stopped world hunger. They got paid to stay in a house for a few months, play some crappy games with a bunch of strangers, and have someone tell them what to eat. She made it to the final three and she should be happy. Adam did carry her, considering she only "won" once. Besides she has that book coming out, and we all know that will be a bestseller.
I'm glad Adam won. Ryan already had the ten thousand, and Jen already has five thousand, so with the extra fifty and stipends they made out pretty good. Hopefully Adam will be true to his word considering after taxes he'll basically be giving up a third of his winnings.

A bit more...
I recall an "After Dark" discussion where Matty (and Adam, I think) discussing Porn, and then Gay Porn, and how much people made performing in it (because Matty knew a guy...) and James was sitting there not saying a thing. I imagine a few people will be surprised at what they find out later.
Adam and Sheila had an odd relationship. They would say the most vile crap about each other, but they could sleep in the same bed with Sheila in her underwear and they were okay with each other. The problem with Sheila is that she's incredibly self-possessed. She would "campaign" like crazy, going on and on and on, playing the single mother card while denying it all the while. She made almost everyone nuts.

Big Baller 6-1 … pretty much what I predicted. I think Ryan could have pulled in a couple more votes had he answered the questions better. He was stammering and stuttering and in the end, gave pretty lame answers. Saying he’d use some of the money on Jen was the kiss of death. Regarding the jury, Matty, Natalie and James were the most level headed and mature, Sharon was surprisingly bitter (much more so than they actually showed) and not surprisingly, Joshuah and Chelsia were immature and full of themselves. Then we have Sheila… oh delusional Sheila … what can you say about her that hasn’t already been said? After the jury questioning on Friday night, there was a leak on the live feeds of Sheila in the jury house going OFF about not wanting to give the money to Adam. And then she went and gave the money to Adam anyway. Or maybe “Kimberly” gave Adam the money. BBlive_30, are you serious with your question about Adam treating Sheila like a piece of crap? I think you need to go back to episode one and take it from there. Sheila was cruel to Adam from the get-go and he’s had to put up with her wild mood swings, crying fits, loud outbursts, guilt trips and sense of entitlement. I think Adam was right when he told the jury that he put up with a LOT being partnered with Sheila and had to make the best of it.
I found out an interesting piece of information regarding Natalie, who I believe got a bad rap when she was just playing the role the producers were directing. Here it is: First of all, did anyone notice (and I’ve always found it a bit suspicious) that Natalie wasn’t overly religious for the first half of the season and then all of a sudden it was as if a light switch was turned on and she became “super bible thumping Natalie”. Well, as it turns out, Adam and Ryan confirmed on the live feeds that not only did the producers / DR encourage the over the top religious Nat, they also pushed the “Team Christ” name after RYAN jokingly said it one night in the DR. I feel bad for Natalie who appears to be a victim of trusting the producers and playing along with their coaching, while being played a fool the entire time. So, yes it was annoying but at the same time I feel bad for the girl. I think she'll be upset with they way she was portrayed.
I really wish the finale would be at least 90 minutes or 2 hours like the Survivor finale. One hour is not enough time to recap the past week, the jury house & questions, the live vote and then a few questions of the hgs. I would have loved to have been able to hear from all of the jurors and the other evicted hgs, especially Amanda getting a chance to confront Josh and Chelsia.
The favorite juror vote was ludicrous. First of all, since the show was live for the East Coast, I, as a West Coaster did not get to vote. Not that it mattered anyway. I’m calling B.S. on the “vote” and truly believe that this (as so many things in this game) was rigged and they gave it to James. One suspicious clue: 2nd place Sheila?? Yeah right!!! Not buying it. Had I had the opportunity, I would have voted for “Chatty” since I think she played a good game and was a good person at heart.
Oh, DWilson, when it was down to the final 4, the producers did tell them about the gps being the pre-existing relationship in the house. Sharon took it very well all things considered. If that were me, I’d be livid!
I think Adam will do good things with the money (minus the plasma tvs he plans to buy for every room in his house). Did anyone notice at the end when Julie was recapping and said Ryan had 2nd place and 50K, Jen did a little “yessss!” with her fist and a little jump. It made me think of Krista and her fake Jen list! LOL
Thanks to both Adam and Krista. Even though we didn’t always agree, I enjoyed all of your recaps! See y’all in July!

Oh, I forgot, Adam, can you ask BB Adam if indeed he tried to win the 3rd part of the HOH or if he threw it to Ryan intentionally so that he did not have to be the one to evict Sheila?
Did he have a real alliance with Sheila or was he just lying to her all along? Was it his intention of taking her to the Final 3 all along or a last minute decision?
Did he ever intend on keeping his word to Natalie for Final 3? If so, what changed?
And of course, what is his reaction to his comments at the beginning of the show and his subsequent firing?
Thanks!

So, I tried to vote on-line for the juror and couldn't find the place!! I was very frustrated with that, since I wouldn't have given James a bag of burning poop, let alone $25,000!!! I would have voted for Natalie. I think she played a pretty good game! I wasn't happy about Adam winning, but it seems like every reality show person I want to win, loses this season! So, maybe I should start rooting for the evil ones!! Ryan blew it when he said he loved Jen and was going to spend it on her. He obviously didn't have a good response to that question and he should have!!

Im also happy that Adam won instead of Ryan mainly because of Jen. After seeing her tonight, I realized how much I couldnt stand her. But I did think that Chelsia's jury question to Ryan about Jen was so stupid. But that did seal the deal for her vote. And she did dress skanky. I remember how much she didn't like the way Amanda was walking around in her booty shorts. So glad she is gone. Anyway going back to Adam, he also grew on me.
I so think that fav. Jury prize was rigged. It had to be. I thought the winner would of been Matt or Sharon. From what I have been reading on the boards.....no one liked him. What do the producers see in James? And can we please talk about what he was wearing tonight. He looked liked he was sleeping in those clothes. And DWilson, I remember that conversation on BBAD. I think the producers cut the feeds during that convo.
I so want a follow up about the hgs. Are they still friends with this person. Or still dating this person. But the thing I want the most is a video reaction of Chelsia's face when she finds out about James past.
Its been fun chatting with y'all this season. Thanks Krista and Adam for a great post. I hope you guys come back for the summer edition....which I hope will a much better than this season.
SEE YA IN THE SUMMER
