Episode Recap: April 22, 2008 (Eviction 11)
What has Big Brother taught us once again this season? You have to win competitions to go the distance. Sharon, the ultimate mole, survived much longer than she probably should have, but aside from winning one HOH with Joshuah, she's had a dry run. I would have been spilling the same story had Sheila (and her sob stories) been sent packing. Ryan (who it's no secret I've been pulling for from the beginning) really flexed his muscle this week, winning HOH, the luxury competition with Sharon and then the most important POV of the season. That's not to say he's got the game sewn up, because in my mind, he made a few mistakes this week. But we'll get to that later.
First, how great is it that we get three doses of Julie this week? She popped up tonight for the eviction, and will be back tomorrow to determine the final three and, of course, for the finale Sunday. I never thought I'd say this early on, but I can't believe this edition is almost over. Oh well, bring on the summer! [In my best Julie Chen voice] But first…
Adam really almost messed up what has been several weeks of good, smart gameplay tonight. He was already on thin ice with Ryan after mouthing to Natalie how he voted last week, and tonight he spewed even more lies. Though I give him credit for his smarts. When he put Sharon on the spot with his "deal," he picked up that hesitation right away and correctly assumed she and Ryan might have an alliance. I'm honestly surprised that Ryan kept the decision making in Adam's hands. Based on Ryan's goodbye message to Sharon, he was shocked (perhaps a move for a vote from her in the jury house) that she was evicted. But Adam remained loyal to Sheila, evicting Sharon, which didn't seem to shock Ryan as much in the house as he let on in his message. Ryan and Adam may have reached a mutual understanding, but Adam just might've turned his back on Ryan enough that to keep himself from being taken to the final two. The way I see it, either Adam or Ryan could beat Sheila in the head-to-head vote, simply because she hasn't won any competitions, other than the one given to her. Sympathy votes won't win the game.
Similarly, Ryan probably should have kept Sharon in the house. He may have been too afraid that she would have evicted Adam, but at least it would have been two-on-one in his favor, instead of the two-on-one scenario he finds himself in now. I honestly would have no qualms with any of the remaining players winning, except maybe Sheila, who even after 72 days can't be nice to Adam. I was glad to see him getting under her skin and (literally) pulling her chain when they were shackled together. I just wonder how he's stayed loyal to her after all the trash she's talked about him, right to his face. Sorry Sheila, that's not very "deserving."
So here are my predictions, assuming the jury bases its decision on gameplay (as they should) rather than vengeance.
If Ryan wins HOH: He probably takes Adam. Sheila is maybe an easier win, but he's been closer to Adam throughout. He can probably beat them both in the end, but a battle against Adam would be much closer.
If Adam wins HOH: I think he will take Sheila. He'll probably have many unintelligible diary room thoughts about how conflicted he is, but I don't see him breaking that bond. Plus (again), Sheila is easy to beat as sympathy shouldn't win her the big prize. Ryan's still got a shot, I suppose, but if he ends up third, it will be because he let Sharon go home. And as he said tonight "second (in this case third) is still last."
If Sheila wins HOH: I might just faint. But if she does, she'll take Adam. And she might earn a little respect and make it close. At least she'll have something to take home to her son.
So what do you think about tonight's eviction. Who do you think will win HOH, and who will they bring to the final showdown? Share your thoughts, and check back tomorrow for more! — Adam
Plus: Don't miss our special Sunday post, which will feature a full analysis of the Big Brother 9 finale from both Krista and myself in a very special IM format!

I didn't watch it happen on the live feeds (even though I do have them), but from what I read on Joker's yesterday, Adam was able to convince Ryan that it was in both of their best interests to keep Sheila over Sharon, I think that this happened right before the POV ceremony and vote, which is why Ryan's goodbye message sounds like he didn't know it was happening. Ryan seemed totally fine with keeping Sheila, and he continued to be okay with it after the eviction/HOH comp. Anyway, hope that helps.

In last week's episode of "Wild Kingdom" The Ferret was defeated by the reigning champ, The Mole. In this week's episode The Cougar pounced on The Mole and emerged triumphant. So long Mole.
I can't wait to see how the other houseguests react to all of Ryan's alliances. He is always calling someone out on playing all sides when he has had deals with just about everyone. Getting rid of Sharon was a must, because if she made it to the end she would've won. Ryan already has the Jen monkey on his back, and that alone is going to make it hard for him to win the top prize. I find it funny that Adam and Ryan have done so well in some of these comps considering they're both big boys and heavy smokers.
Earlier tonight Ryan and Adam were going through all the alliances they ousted: The Sexy Six, Team Pullout Couches, and The Girls Club. They were also laughing at Sharon for being stupid enough to never use her slop pass.
Monday's episode of BBAD confused me a bit. The live feeds were down until about a half hour into the show, because of the eviction ceremony and HOH comp. When the feed came back, Sharon was not in the house. At one point during the last hour of BBAD, I tuned in and saw Sharon in a room reading. The camera was on her for a few minutes before I finally turned the channel. If she wasn't in the house, where was she? I'm thinking they had to keep her in another section of the house because it was too late to take her to sequester.
Now, on to battle of Rye Bread vs. Cougar-Bot vs. Bobcat Goldthwait. Should be interesting to see the final results.
***CRYPTIC HOH SPOILER INFO******
The first part of the HOH comp was won by the person who most recently held that position. The second round was won by the Pet's former partner. The 2nd round winner has offered to throw round 3 to winner #1 (probably so as not to lose a vote from the Pet).

First of all, tonight’s show was not a live eviction, it was taped yesterday. The POV and eviction happened on Monday, as did the first part of the HOH. Last night on BBAD they showed 3 random hours of excruciatingly boring footage (thank God for my dvr) that was taped earlier in the day so that we could not watch the first part of the HOH live. Part 2 of the HOH comp took place today (Tues) and tomorrow (Wednesday) will be Part 3 and the live eviction.
Adam trying to cut a deal with Sharon was actually good game play. Remember, he did not know that Ryan and Sharon were in a secret alliance so why not cover all of his bases since the plan was to vote out Sheila anyway? That move could have cost him but Sharon’s reaction to his proposal was what got him thinking that Ryan and Sharon were in cahoots, which later brought about the best move of the game so far for Adam.
Ryan was not shocked that Sharon was evicted. 30 minutes prior to the taping of the show, Adam came to Ryan and convinced him that Sheila would be easier to beat in the final HOH comp. Apparently, they were all given a heads up about part one of the HOH comp, that it would involve endurance, arm strength and water. Adam also swore that he would take Ryan to the Final 2 if he won the final HOH. Being that Sheila sucks at comps and that Sharon may be due win something (and would also be tougher to beat in endurance), Ryan agreed, which I think was a mistake because he was guaranteed to be in the Final 2 with either Adam or Sharon. Because Ryan took this deal, I am convinced that he believes that Adam would take him to the finals and he would do the same for Adam.
Adam suggested that he (Ryan) act shocked so that Sharon would think that this was solely Adam’s decision and the blood would be on his (Adam’s) hands. I am pretty sure that Ryan’s goodbye message was taped prior to the decision to evict Sharon instead of Sheila so that would explain why he said what he said. Speaking of goodbye messages, can anyone see through Sheila’s fake tears and butt-kissing of the jury members? Good God, that woman is so two-faced it’s unbelievable. She’s talked so much smack on everyone and then when they get evicted, it’s all tears, compliments and “I really care about you”. That’s been her M.O. all season long and tonight was no different. As much as I wanted to see her being booted out, it was a much smarter decision to take her to the final 3. Adam played it perfectly and I don’t see any way where he doesn’t make the Final 2. Here’s how I see it playing out:
If Adam wins HOH, he takes Ryan to the final two thinking he can beat him. Keep in mind, most of the jury members are a bunch of immature, bitter kids. I don’t think they will vote based on who played a better game but who they hate the least (if Ryan, Adam & Sheila were smart they should have tried to take Natalie to the final 2, but I digress…). Many of the (now) jurors have stated that they would never vote for Ryan to win because they hate Jen and don’t want her to have any of the money. Also, of the final 3, Adam was the most liked by the jury members.
If Ryan wins HOH, he will take Adam because that’s "his boy” and I think he will stay loyal to their Final 2 alliance. He has stated numerous times that he doesn’t think he can win and would be happy with the 50K. Who knows, it may be closer than he thinks ... I'm thinking it could be 4-3 (Adam).
If (a miracle happens) Sheila wins HOH, she takes Adam, based on loyalty to her original partner. She will most definitely try to play the “single mom” card as she’s done the entire game, but it’s going to take a lot more than that. Trying to play on the sympathies of some of the most heartless people I’ve ever seen would be the wrong way to go. She has also stated that she’d be happy with the 50K.
I’m cool with either Adam or Ryan winning. I’m leaning towards Adam who I think played it a little smarter overall but they BOTH have overcome a lot in this game and deserve to win.

You know I think Ryan's secret alliances with Josh and Sharon are going to bite him in the butt if he makes it to the final 2. Either Josh or Sharon won't be able to keep their mouths shut about their alliance with Ryan. I think Josh will be the one who slips up about it.
Thanks bobby-j about the spoilers. I read on hamster watch about what one would do to through the comp. And the Bobcat Goldthwait reference was very funny. I haven't heard of him in years.
And k4lakers, I had a feeling that it wasn't live. The premier wasn't live either. They were in the house for at least a week. And I knew BBAD would be boring with the final 3. Even though I haven't watched it in weeks. But that's why I think they should switch on over to sequester house when it gets down to the final 3. That would be so much entertaining to see, especially with Nat in the house. Speaking of that, I wonder if Matt is ignoring her or hanging out with her since he isn't friends with anyone else in the house.
I think that Sheila will win the final part of the HOH comp, and she will take Adam to the final 2. If that happens I will laugh my head off.

Adam, in the fourth sentence of your first paragraph, you said Sharon (and her sob stories,) and I believe you meant Sheila.
It made far more sense to boot Sharon than Sheila. Sharon would do better in competitions than Sheila, and already had at least 3 votes in the jury (maybe 4 if Nat would have voted against those who had turned on her.)
BBAD on Monday aired 3 hours of footage that was recorded earlier that day and ran disclaimers stating that it had been recorded earlier.

Sheila can't win HOH....she has already lost part two to Adam... I hope Adam will realize HOW IMPORTANT it is NOT to throw part three to Ryan, and that he kicks some Rye Bread butt tonight...wins part three HIMSELF>>and takes She bot to final two...lets her get her $50k..and take home the big prize himself!!

Hey photogram1.... try to be considerate when posting spoilers as others ahead of you were. See the second post by bobby-jif you'd like to know what I'm talking about. Spoilers should be clearly marked. There are quite a few people who don't want to know what happen on the live feed with regard to comps. Thanks for ruining it for a lot of us who would like to wait for the show to air on CBS.

Thanks a lot, photogram1, for ruining the first two parts of the final HOH competition. I deliberately avoided the spoiler posted earlier only to stumble on your comment.
What a jerk! Too bad being a spoiling jackass doesn't constitute abuse, since I would love to report you for that.
Oh well, it's not like it matters to me which one wins...once Sharon got evicted, out went the last person I was rooting for. Now I'm stuck watching someone I don't like go on to win.

YOU ARE RIGHT - RYAN SHOULD HAVE KEPT SHARON - I CAN'T BELIEVE HE WAS THAT "STUPID" . ADAM SHOWED HIM HIS COLORS AS SOON AS NATALIE WAS OUT - MAYBE SHEILA SHOULD WIN BECAUSE THE TWO MEN ARE BRAINDEAD.

I think Ryan allowed Adam to do his dirty work by evicting Sharon. If Ryan truly wanted Sharon in the house he could have saved her with the power of veto instead of letting Adam save Sheila. Ryan has always let the other players do the dirty work so he could keep his hands clean and the jury house will not be able to hold anything against him if he makes it to the end of the game. Sheila does not deserve to win because of the way she has treated Adam and she has not won anything in the house and plus Natalie was the one who gave her the head of household so she deserves nothing. I hope no one takes her to the end even thou she will be easy to beat. I would like to see either Adam or Ryan win the game.

BBchat why do u keep picking on people? Yeah photogram1 made a bone head mistake. But there was no reason to call him(or her) a name. And I am not the only one who puts spoilers in my posts.

I was saddened to see Sharon go. She left for one reason only, Ryan. I think Ryan knew he had to take Sharon off the block to save her and simply chose not to. I think it was the right choice if he wants any shot at winning. The flip side of the coin is Ryan may well have tossed the win out the window tonight. I imagine Sharon having the biggest influence on the jury of everyone on it.
Plus, if Adam or Sheila wins the final HOH Ryan is out. My money is on Adam beating Ryan for the final HOH since the third, and deciding, part of the last challenge is often mental. I see one guy winning the first round and the other guy winning the second round. If Sheila wins final HOH it will be hard for anyone on the jury to ignore.
I did like Sharon's way of feeling about being ousted. She showed the most class I have seen in a long time on this show. Before you guys bust my chops, class is relative.
Final Power Rankings:
1. Adam - My favorite to win final HOH. If so, he takes Sheila with him and wins over jury for having to put up with Sheila this long. 2. Sheila - Actually has a shot at winning the game now, especially if she could win final HOH. There could be only a one vote swing between her and Adam or Ryan. 3. Ryan - Odd man out again. His elimination of Sharon should hurt him in the jury vote against either Sheila or Adam.

I always thought part 2 was mental and part 3 was a mental, physical timed event.
