Episode Recap: April 8, 2008 (Veto Competition/Ceremony 8)
My, how the mighty have fallen. Though Crazy James has repeatedly saved himself when the pressure was on, this week he fell short in a do-or-die situation, and as such, is most likely on his way to the jury house.
After Adam honored his word to James (which he later admitted was probably because he got caught up in James' sob story), Sheila went on a rampage reminiscent of her first week in the house. She felt betrayed by her ally and former partner, but she has to realize that at some point everyone has to start playing for themselves. I (and Sheila agreed later) believe that Adam's nominations were the best thing for him, and even though he regretted the move, it ultimately did give the house a chance to finally seal James' fate.
Adam really came out the best in this situation. Although he initially stirred the pot, at the end of this HOH reign, things will have basically ended up they way his alliance had wanted all along. Plus, even though James said he was playing to win, I think his "safety" diminished some of the extra fighting spirit that gets into people when they are on the block. It may have just been luck, but at this point, Adam was able to accomplish what no one else was in the past three weeks, so kudos to him.
I've flipped-flopped on my opinions of Natalie, and I am glad to see that Ryan and others are starting to get wind of her true colors. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing her join her precious Mattie very soon. True, she is playing both sides just like Ryan has been, but I feel Ryan's loyalty is still with his original alliance, as he proved again tonight by not taking James up on his offer to flip the house (more on that later.) Then again, Ryan could just be playing a numbers game rather than being truly loyal. Either way, I just hope he doesn’t let his alliance with Natalie hang him in the end, and I think he should strike first before she has a chance to betray him, Adam or Sheila.
The "Otev the rain god" Veto competition was another challenging mental competition, and I was again proud to see Adam in the final two. He's really proving himself to be a competitor down the stretch, and he is definitely one to watch as the $500,000 draws closer. James never really settled into his groove in this game, and got very lucky in the first two rounds. Ultimately, he went out early, and eventually it was Ryan and Adam. "Baller" let "Rye Bread" (seriously?) take the win, probably so that he could nominate James without having to officially veto his previous nominations personally.
Was I the only person bored to tears during the five minute heart-to-heart between James and Sharon? Yeah, they had some nice things to say about each other, but is there not better footage to show? It's times like these that I'm glad I don't watch BBAD to know what they could've shown instead of mediocre scenes. If nothing else, show a clip montage like tonight's "Mommy Sheila plays clean up" collection. I at least chuckled a little at that.
Having come around again in my opinion of James (maybe his tears got to me, too), I was intrigued by his offer to Ryan to flip the game by joining him and Sharon and taking on Adam and Natalie. Ryan would have been aligning with a strong player who I wouldn't mind see stay around a little longer, but James definitely has the power to make it to the end. In that scenario, I don't think Ryan (or anyone for that matter) could beat James head-to-head, considering how resilient he has been over the course of the game. I think he would get the votes for that reason alone at the end of the competition. Ultimately, Ryan stayed true to his team, and is still teamed with Adam, who becomes a stronger player every day. I don't think sending James home hurts Ryan very much, aside from making himself a bigger target with the other noticeable threat gone. (I say noticeable, because I think the house is still overlooking Sharon, who continues to coast through the game. I'm eager to see what happens with her as the weeks dwindle).
So can James pull off a miracle and flip the votes? Who do you think will be evicted, and who do you want to see win HOH? Check back tomorrow to find out what happens! — Adam

Seriously? Was Sheila really buying Sharon telling her what James had told her about what Natalie had said to him? Sure, we know this looks to be true, but This must happen all the time in the BB house--really bad games of "telephone". People must constantly be trying to sway people by saying "so & so said....". BB editors must just pick ones to showcase in an attempt to throw us viewers off track. Hopefully Sheila was just playing along. Sheila should be trying to convince Ryan to stay in their alliance and then dump Nat for a final 2 of Ryan & Sheila. Neither one has done much of importance in the game and it would be a level comp.

Even if it was accidentally brilliant, Adam's nominations and nomination speech worked. James was mentally out of the POV challenge and everyone else was doing better. They might have thought wrong about the questions but they thought. Sheila came off the block and James went up. It would take an improbable set of circumstances for him to stay.
If James goes home, and he should, then I see Sharon winning the HOH. The reason is because this past week she has not really been affected by the happenings. She is mentally fresh by comparison.
Adam will likely go on the block next week just based on the numbers. It will have very little to do with his actions this week, even though they will likely say it is because of his actions. The surprise evictions start now. Wipe the smug look off your face Ryan before the others do. Over-confidence is like a bullseye.
I personally think Adam's nomination of Sheila was a subtle slap in her face for the way she treated Adam in the beginning. I say subtle because he doesn't come out and say it directly. He will later though. Most decisions in the house will be made from the game winning mindset from here on out. They are too close to each other to make choices from the same petty angle that dominates the first two-thirds of a Big Brother game.

>Was I the only person bored to tears during the five minute heart-to-heart between James and Sheila?<
I think you mean James and Sharon?
Funny, that was my favorite part of this episode. Then again I'm biased, James and Sharon are my two favorite players!

The first half of the show was really boring... when they showed that long clip of James and Sharon, I had to check my dvr and make sure I was watching BB the show vs. BBAD. Speaking of that clip (hold on, let me get my violin out), I thought it was funny how they found the only 3 minutes of James and Sharon saying nice things ... how they don't hate anyone and they miss their families and their partners/soulmates, blah-blah-tear-tear. The rest of the time (the other 99.9%) since last Wednesday when Josh was sent packing, they've both said repeatedly how they HATE everyone in the house and they've BOTH been stirring the pot and talking major smack about everyone else.
I find it so hypocritical that Sharon (who was joined at the hip to Natalie last week when she was HOH) is now throwing her under the bus and accusing her of secret deals. And as much as I am rooting for Ryan, why is he mad about Natalie playing both sides when he's been doing it himself! First with Josh and now Sharon!
Looks like James is on his 9th life and I can't wait to see him go for good this time. I'd love to see some jury house footage, especially since the three most vile houseguests were evicted in a row. Classic!
Lastly, Sheila is an idiot. She completely overreacted when she was placed on the block as a pawn. Any way you look at it, she was safe. If the nominations had stayed the same, Sharon would have gone home. If James had won the veto and took Sharon off (worst case scenario), Natalie or Ryan would have been nominated, with Sharon and James deciding who would be evicted and in that case, she's safe too. As she herself likes to say: "DUH!!"

So can James pull off a miracle and flip the votes? I think the only miracle James has are the producers. I have a feeling the producers are going to try to sway some votes. Hopefully it won't work. Cause I really want to see James gone.
IMHO James word mean nothing. And I can't believe the hg's are not commenting about "his word" does Nat remember when he gave her his word that he wouldn't put her or Matt up, and we went back on his word? Obviously not.
And Sheila did over reacted about Adams nomintions. But what I think he did was smart. James wasn't really into playing this POV and he thought he was safe. If he was nominated he would of been motivated into winning. But she has a love hate relationship with Adam in the first place. One minute she is all lovely dovie with him, the next she is yelling at him. Like an old married couple.
I also want to see some sequester house footage. What gives? What is going in that house? I wonder if Chelsia seduced Matt?
Im sorry to tell you guys this but I have no spoilers for ya. I haven't been watching BBAD or to jokers in awhile. However I know some of you are happy about it.

I like James and I'm still hoping for a last minute miracle. I think Ryan made a stupid move taking Sheila off the block instead of Sharon. On Sunday's episode, they showed Ryan making an alliance with Sharon and then he takes Sheila off the block? Not smart in my opinion. If Ryan had either not used the POV at all or taken Sharon off, he would have had options to flip to the other side. That option is now gone.
I flipped back and forth between 3 channels last night so I missed a lot of everything on all three shows, but I did catch most of the POV comp. I can understand Adam flipping Ryan the POV to keep himself out of the line of fire.

Yeah, James talks about how he's not an evil person, yet he goes around taunting Natalie (sometimes in the nude) and trying to pour "penis flavored water" on her. Hopefully he goes tonight, but with the producers at the helm (who apparently seem to be encouraging some of his actions) anything can happen. After he goes they can get rid of Hoops (Sharon). She contributes nothing and she's seriously working the mole angle. Besides, she was already voted out first. She should've remained gone just like James.

Did I not see Sharon clap when James was ousted from the PoV competition? HUH? I know she probably wanted to win POV for herself...but wouldn't James be the next best winner (even if he was saying he wouldn't take her off).
I didn't see her clap when anyone else lost. I knew why the other house guests clapped...but why Sharon?

Sharon clapped when James got ousted from the Veto competition because she knew that he wouldn't win and would most likely end up on the block. With James on the block she is most likely safe.
Regarding Ryan not taking Sharon off of the block. Sharon knew he wouldn't take her off of the block as it would expose their "secret" alliance. By taking Sheila off of the block it keeps both of his alliances intact as Sharon will most likely be safe anyways.

Cruciatus - I would think that Sharon would be happy if James didn't win POV b/c she knew the others would use the POV on Sheila and put James up against her. Then they would all vote for James and keep her. If James won POV and didn't use it, then Sharon would have been going home. So her best and probably only bet was to have James lose the POV competition.

I guess I just thought that Sharon and James were an alliance of sorts. I get why James needed to lose for Sharon to (most likely) stay in the house. And I even understand her happiness when he lost--but I was surprised she was so open about it. I think that's what threw me off.
They seem to be spending a lot of time together so for her to actually clap seemed like (to me) a slap in James' face.
I'm not sure why I even care! I was just surprised when I saw her clapping along with the other house guests when she has a better relationship with James than the others.
Eh, oh well.
I am now counting down the days until Natalie is put on the chopping block (AND LEAVES!!). I really, really, want her to leave (could you tell?). "See what reading the Bible can do for you?" She said something like that causing me to want to kick her sanctimonious ass. I am ready for everyone to start turning on each other.

Other than the competition, this episode bored me to tears. i found myself doing other things while it was on when usually i am glued to the TV. Sharon is on everyones team. As long as it is not her to go she doesnt care. She wanted James out depserately last week instead of Josh.

Please BB producers and come through with a twist and keep James. I am so sick of Natalie and her freakin' Team Christ that I basically throw up in my mouth every time I see her hypocritical butt. If she is sooo "Christian," should she be talking so badly about others? I can't wait until she is out of the house and sees the footage all over YouTube of her going down on Matt. Followed by Matt's reaction to her.
