Episode Recap: April 2, 2008 (Eviction 8)

It was a valiant effort, but all his scheming and plotting didn't keep Josh from being evicted 3-1 from the Big Brother house. His speech was pretty impressive considering he was most likely shocked by the eviction. I've given him a hard time in this blog, but I'm sure on the outside he isn't the person we saw screaming at everyone. I enjoyed loving to hate him. As much as I think this was the right move, I can't help but wonder if keeping Sharon will eventually be a mistake for some of the house guests. She hasn't shown much drive to take control and play the game, but she could surprise everyone.

I never was a big Josh fan but I can't say I blamed him for pulling out all the stops to stay in the game. Even though he sold Sharon down the river, we shouldn't have expected him to just lie down and give up because it's the nice thing to do. His means were ruthless but I understood his ends. He had a point in making Sharon out to be a threat. Who wants to be sitting next to her in the end? She's far too likeable. However, some of the comments he made about her were just unnecessary. He's sick of babysitting her? He needs to work on those crocodile tears, but he is quite convincing. And of course, despite all of his misdeeds in the house, his mother thinks he's a good boy. At least she wasn't in complete denial and admitted being embarrassed by his behavior.

Just when I thought she lost her mind, Natalie confessed to Sharon about the deal Josh made her to stay in the game. For a second I thought she was actually on board. Good — she wasn't being bamboozled. Was letting big mouth Sheila in on it a good idea? Maybe not. She's gotten in a lot of trouble lately for opening her mouth. I give Natalie a lot of credit because she did seem to examine all angles of the deal and talk it out with everyone to make sure she did the right thing. I'm glad Ryan came around and agreed Josh would be the better person to take out. I was afraid that pesky alliance he made with him would be exposed and threaten his position in the game. It was the right move because Josh and James together is a formidable pair.

Loved how DJC (looking quite dashing in tan cat suit-like ensemble) called Natalie out on staring at Matt's picture. She even tried to stir up her jealousy by reminding her that he is alone in the jury house with Chelsia. I was interested to learn that she considers Ryan her closest ally. I think this is a smart choice. He's smart and hasn't done many untrustworthy or vulgar things in the house. I think I'm rooting for those two to be at the end. With his smarts and her competitiveness, they certainly have what it takes.

Speaking of jury house, I'm about ready for some jury house footage. How about you? I love how towards the end the jury footage becomes more entertaining than what's going on in the main house! Please show some soon!

The HOH competition was my kind of competition. I have always said it's wise for the house guests to be very observant of their surroundings in the house. Right away I thought this was a game designed for Sharon since she had such luck in the HOH where they had to match the author with verses hanging on the walls. But it was Adam who took the prize on the last question. Adam is really turning it on and, despite still being a complete enigma to me, becoming a force to be reckoned with. Will the house guests stay true to their current "sides" or split into a boy versus girl fight? I'm eager to see who he nominates. Stop back here after the Sunday show to chat about it! See you then. — Krista

I was glad to see the house came around and evicted Joshuah. Ryan may have dodged a bullet in his alliance with Joshuah. I can't really believe Sharon was that shocked at Joshuah trying to get her tossed. But, we all knew there probably no way the short alliance to save Joshuah was going to last. Joshuah's exit speech was a load of bull. Being true to yourself in Big Brother just means people forget you were on the show faster.

James knows he is in trouble with Adam winning HOH. Adam has to put James on the block if he has any dreams of winning. The question will be who goes on the block with James. My money is on Sharon or Ryan. The real trouble starts when, and if, he has to replace one after the POV. Adam needs to stick with Sheila and Natalie to go farther in the game.

It does get much harder at this stage of the game to guess who will do what. The alliances could always switch around before but now one jump can change the entire outcome of an eviction or anything. The coasters also have to step up and make some decisions and we just don't know enough about them to know when or where they will jump. Hiding in a crowd is much harder as the crowd thins.

Power Rankings:

1. Sharon - She is still one of the strongest players. Joshuah is gone and so is her false belief that she is not playing alone. She made the alliance I felt she need to make and ditched the old sinking ship alliance.
2. Natalie - Her game playing seems on solid ground now and it doesn't look like a fluke. If Julie Chen's taunting about Matt and Chelsia possibilities did anything it insured that Natalie does not want to send another woman to the jury house. That makes the female alliance stronger, even if for the wrong reasons.
3. Sheila - Another week she needs to lay low and back the new alliance and play her connection to Adam.
4. Adam - Winning HOH only keeps him safe one week. Things can and will turn against him soon. His connection to Sheila keeps him ranked above the other guys.
5. Ryan - Odd man out. James is a target and Adam has a connection to the women. Ryan is in trouble simply because he is in the open and alone. His niceness may make him collateral damage in the battle.
6. James - He is running out of time and chances to save himself. He really has to win out in the veto competitions or an HOH or two to survive. If he survives the battle and ends up in the final two he wins the money easily. Him making final two will make him one of the best to ever play the game. I don't see it happening.

I bet Josh is more like the guy his parents described and the way he left than the guy he was in the house. I recall liking him and Neil at the start, but once Neil left, Josh was a different guy. I think that really affected him and he never quite got out of his "role" as being the guy who mouths off at all the women when they do him wrong. All the things his mom talked about really made sense with his exit speech and his talk with Julie.
I think the house will regret getting rid of Josh over Sharon. She almost won HOH, and if she made it to the final 2, she'd probably beat anybody else since everyone likes her. She'd be like Lisa from Season 3.
It probably won't matter much as Adam will most likely nominate James and Sharon this week. Should James somehow win POV again, Sharon probably wouldn't survive against one of Adam's "teammates."

A-Baller did it again! But first (ala JC), it was soooo good to see Joshuah go. First Chelsia and now this! :-p Say what you will, but a "good person" does not spew the type of hatred that came out of Josh's mouth. If it makes him feel better to think of himself as "Norma Rae" and the defender of others, good for him, but I think that at the very least, he needs some serious anger management. BTW, Josh's mom was really pretty and it was good to see that she was embarrassed by some of his actions in the house. I have to admit that I will miss some of Joshuah's DR sessions which are always pretty funny, but he needed to go and as the old saying goes, "what goes around comes around."

Now, back to my Baller, WOW! That guy is highly intelligent and as was shown a couple of weeks ago, he has a photographic memory so I knew he'd do well in the HOH competition. I don't think he wanted to win HOH this week but with the other choices being Sharon and James he HAD to. Both he and Ryan said that if it was them two and Sheila left standing, they'd throw it to her so she could get a letter and pictures from home. I thought it was pretty messed up of BB to have the NUMBERS competition be the week that Natalie couldn't play. That can't be a coincidence, but I digress...

Adam, Nat and Ryan have a solid 3 person alliance for the final three and I don't think he would put Sheila up, so my best guess at this point is Sharon and James on the block. Hopefully this will be the week they can send James packing.

I would have to agree that if you're a "good" person outside of the house, being inside the house shouldn't change that. The game doesn't corrupt your personality that much. The truth it, this show makes you more likely to reveal aspects of yourself that you wouldn't under normal circumstances. Josh was two-faced throughout the entire game. He even dissed Neil, when he was supposedly so broken up about his abrupt departure. Just a couple of days ago I think he was talking about Neil's teeth and how he talked too much. I think he also said Neil couldn't be his soulmate because he didn't like Latin guys.

Yes, Sharon is still a big threat. But I've always said it is better to loose to someone that you like rather than someone you dislike. I'm sure Kelly Wiglesworth is still upset about losing to Richard Hatch on the first season of Survivor.

This HOH competition was Sharon's to lose...and she lost. That doesn't bode well for her. Adam was behind, but came on strong in the final few questions. He's a pretty fierce competitor. Looks like James will have to go for his fourth veto in a row. If he makes it all the way to the end, he really will be the most amazing BB player of all time...but I think he will end up like Janelle...go far but fade out before the final two because it's just so hard to play when everyone is against you.

So God has been talking to Natalie since she was a child? This explains a lot. She's freakin' Joan of Arc.

I'm so glad that Josh left. I cracked up when he was talking to James about how Sharon is going to be blindsided. I thought that was so freaking hilarious. I'm not buying his "defending others" for his tyrants against the ladies. You don't defend others by saying "just like your father" after someone said there hanging themselves...knowing good and well that persons father killed himself. Or by talking about a persons looks. And if that's the way Josh defends others then I don't want him defending me. I'm also glad that his mother is embrassed by his behavior in the house. And his goodbye speech to the others was the lamest ever. Sheila was right it was classy(unlike Chelsia).

I am liking Adam more and more. I wonder what gives. I think I said this in Tuesday's post about Adam(however I think I deleted before I posted).....if Adam washed his hands more, didn't pick his butt at inappropriate times/places, I would consider going out with him. I think he is going to put James and Sharon. Hopefully, James doesn't win POV...they need to make sure that he doesn't. BDing him is waaay to iffy. Especially this late in the game.

I also like Ryan and Nat's alliance. If Ryan makes it to the final 2 he better hope that his secret alliance with Josh doesn't get out. Josh needs to keep mums about it. But I don't see that happening.

Yeah what gives about not showing the sequester house? I'm waiting to see Matts face when Chelsia shows up. I also want to see his face when Josh shows up. I bet he is going to lhao when Josh walks through those doors.

Oh yeah sorry about the spoiler alert about James's mohawk. I thought for sure Nat died it blond for him.

a "good person" doesn't spew the haterd and contempt that he did, even it is "a game". They are not a saint but the hatred seemed to roll off his lips real easy, IMHO.

Well, I think I'll be done with this show after next week's eviction. Adam is going to put both Sharon and James up, and while James has been pretty lucky with winning the POVs when he needs to, I'm going to agree with FrenchCelt that he's going to run out of steam and go the way of Janelle (sigh). James' only hope is if Adam has figured out that the girls are thinking of a all girl alliance (he seems like he might be figuring that out). But the girl alliance probably won't happen because Nat will of course open her big mouth, once again, and end up telling Ryan. So like I said, James & Sharon are going up and James is gone next week. Oh well.

So God has been talking to Natalie since she was a child? This explains a lot. She's freakin' Joan of Arc.

LMAO! I was thinking almost the same thing when she said it.

If one person next season starts saying God speaks to them, I'm not watching. I hope they don't have mostly religious cast again next season. God has better things to than watch over the Big Brother House.

In my last post I said that it would either be Nat or James that told Sharon about Josh trying to get her out. And I how I hoped everyone would flip their votes and surprise Josh with an eviction, so I loved tonight!

Was anyone else just wanting Josh to shut up when he was talking to Julie?! I don't think any evicted HG has ever talked that much. All his 'I stand up for people' was bull. He can say he is not a mean person but while he was in the house, he was mean to certain people. Just because you are standing up for people doesn't give you the right to call them horseface (and hopefully we never have to see him in the hot tub again saying giddyup and acting like a horse) and tell them they are ugly. Josh saying all that would be like Evel Dick saying he dumped tea on whatsherfaces head to stand up for people.

I did love his mom being truthful about how she felt though! I am sure family members don't sit around and watch BBAD or see all the live feeds, cause what they show on CBS is tame compared to that.

I was kinda hoping Sharon would win the HOH just because I am curious as to who she would put up. Was Adam winning really based on him being smart? They all had a 50/50 chance on getting each question right. Being smart would be guessing the correct actual number of items instead of just more or less than. Sure being observant would help but it could also come down to luck.

lizzybelle,

I agree it doesn't make sense to try to BD James at this stage of the game. BD'ing only works when the target doesn't compete in the POV. With only 6 people left, they will all compete in the POV so you might as well nominate James from the get go and if he wins again then you deal with it.

Does anyone think Sharon threw that competition?

I would love to know who she would have put up.

I hope Adam puts Sheila on the block. She will freak out and drive everybody crazy!

K4 ~ At least they didn't ask any questions with 8's!

lizzybelle ~ You were right ~ They did take the red out of James' hair but Adam put it back in! I wish he didn't.

On BBAD last night, Adam and Natalie were talking about how biased the BB producers are and saying the HOH comp was tailor made for James. As it turns out, Natalie's not our only number counter in the house, but James is well known to do it to, which confirms what many people have been saying, which is that they (BBPTB) really like James and want him to stay in the house. Natalie yelled into the cameras, "BB stop being so biased towards James! He is not a good person!" LOL

James' hair was bleached but he covered it with pink dye right after. He is sponsored by the hair dye company from what I've read.
