Episode Recap: Top Model Is Feelin' The Music
Hello all. Allow me to introduce myself—my name is Gina, and I’m covering for our dear Adam while he’s in the process of moving (truth is his roomie was too cheap to pay for the extra four days of internet til’ the lease ran out). But fear not for your Top Model guru will be returning to his regularly scheduled blogging next Wednesday. So as an avid watcher of the show, and all of Tyra’s madness, let’s get this party started, shall we?
This week started with the girls’ reactions to their last photo shoot, and no one could seem to get over how Aimee’s skin looked, to quote Tyra, “insanely, crazy beautiful.” Lauren took note of her lack of confidence, and then we turned the focus over to Claire and her family. Yes, it was sad to hear her on the phone with her man, and it’s clear she misses that adorable little nugget of hers. But I’m not really sure I was really interested in hearing about her breast milk “drying up.”
And now the drama begins. Turns out setting her alarm clock is over Dominique’s head so she’s been waking people up at 6am for no good reason--and Claire is FIRED UP about losing those 41 minutes. The fight carried on, obviously, because Dominique wasn’t too keen on Claire calling her a bitch. Enter Lauren, trying to be the voice of reason, and Dominique making the mistake of telling her to ‘stay in her place.’ Sprinkle in Whitney’s two cents, Lauren standing on a chair screaming, and we’ve got ourselves some good television. The tag team operation was enough to break down Dominique, but don’t worry, she’s still convinced they’re after her because they know she’s gonna win.
So now the ladies head over to the dance studio for a little training from the self-proclaimed master of…well everything…Tyra. Omg, wait! Did Tyra just sprain her ankle? No, that’s just her own overly quirky way of teaching the models how to ‘pose with pain.’ Everyone did fairly well, with the exception of you know who. Poor awkward Lauren! Once the gals get home, they learn ?over the Tyra Mail ticker that their lesson was actually a challenge and the winner was Anya. Her prize? A one-on-one photo shoot with ‘noted fashion photographer’ Nigel Barker.
When Anya heads over to the set, she discovers she’s going to be stripping down for a nude shoot in bed (Nige, you dirty bird you!). Come nighttime, the girls gear up for round two of hatin’ on Dominique. Their tactic of choice? Trash talking right next to her while she’s trying to sleep.
Photo shoot day! Off to Williamsburg, Brooklyn where the girls are tasked with embodying a specific style of music for fashion photographer Russell James. Fatima was rock and looked kinda like Brett Michaels. Next was Katarzyna with an emo-Avril thing goin’ on—well done. Lauren was pop, but can someone tell me what pop star would ever where that slutty-superhero looking outfit? Either way, she still killed it like always. Claire went country and didn’t really impress anyone. Dominique was folk, and really came out looking like a tranny in hippie-wear. Anya was punk, and I really don’t know what to say about her hair. Jay was a fan of both ladies. The same can’t be said of Stacy-Ann, representing house music. Aimee, the conservative Mormon, tried to capture the sexy passion of R&B—but failed. And lastly, Whitney was grunge and wowed the photographer.
And welcome to the judging room. Among the favorites were Whitney, Katarzyna (who’ll be getting her hair chopped off next episode) and Lauren. Claire and Aimee’s photo’s, however did absolutely nothing for the judges, landing them in the bottom two. So who stays? Drumroll…Claire. A tearful goodbye and another name peeled from Ms. Jay’s bosom.
So there you have it. Another week in the saga that is Cycle 10. My thoughts? As far as the fighting goes, I have to say I was really shocked to see the bitch in Claire come out like it did. She somehow managed to avoid drama for so long, but that all came to a screeching halt tonight. Don’t get me wrong, I think Dominique and her ‘they hate me cuz I’m beautiful’ attitude is pretty much as annoying as you can get, but I also think for the three girls to sit next to her bed and talk trash was equally as annoying. As far as judging went, I wasn’t exactly surprised by the decision to send Aimee packing. I thought her picture was in fact the worst of the bunch, but I also felt Stacy-Ann’s picture should have received a bit more negative feedback than it did. What did everyone else think of this episode? Do you think the three girls were in the right to team up against Dominique because of her attitude? Or perhaps you thought it got to the point where it was just blatantly immature? And what does everyone think of Claire rising up and jumping head first into the drama? Do you think the judging was fair? Let us know what you think!

I have to repeat what I said at the end of last week's blog because I don't think anyone saw it and I STILL feel the same way, one week later.
I had an awful lot to say tonight, but my husband found me Lauren's WebLink and let's just say after seeing her page I am speechless. Seriously. Speechless. My God. Be afraid: Be VERY afraid. http://www.myspace.com/jadedyouth

Ok sharondunford, I went to that link and I am afraid of what I saw.
Ok anyway about tonights show, I don't like Dominque. Her new haircut isn't all that cute. Her pic from last week was ok, but she still looks older than she does. But at least she isn't talking in 3rd person.
If I was Claire I would of done the samething. Dominque did that on purpose. Why else would she set the alarm an hour early and not get up after it goes off. If she wanted to get up early, then she should of had her alarm in her bed with her set to vibrate or to a quieter alarm. I did that before and it works. However, I didn't like the way she reacted when Tyra called her name. Yeah she's exicited to be staying, but it was inconsiderate towards Aimee.
I would love to have a personal photo shoot with Nigel. He is so fine. He is the best part of the show.
And the best part of this episode, we didn't have no Fatima. I wonder if she shaved her pitts just yet?

Personally, I was really disappointed by Claire's behavior. I had thought of her as a little above the ANTM cattiness that we witness each year. However, her adolescent behavior of talking about Dominique while she was sleeping nearby turned me off. She had better not be the top model of the week next week, because to me, she lost tons of cool points this week. Plus, the kicker, she had a bad photo shoot with one of the best photographers around. Man, even Fatima had a decent photo.

Aimee is beautiful girl and I wish her the best. However, everyone knows that Tyra does not like pretty girls. She wants to keep interesting girls (Dominique and the other three with their conflict) or girls with an interesting or unique look. I think she alluded to this that there are other forms of modeling where Aimee might do well (commercial). She also was not feeling the R&B scene and it affected her.
I was happy to not see Fatima and I will be happy when she and Dominque finally are sent packing. However, due to their conflicts with others I suspect she will be kept for some time.
Anya deserved the win and I hope she enjoyed working with Nigel.

Let me start by saying that I don't care for Dominique at all, but thought that Claire would have been above the petty behavior- that seems to be more Whitney's thing. And I think that Dominique's alarm did that more than just one night, so I too would have been PO'd by her and probably would have yelled a thing or two.
Question: Does anyone else notice in that every single picture Whitney's mouth is open? I can't stand it! I would think one of the judges would have commented on that by now.

I really liked Clair and Lauren. Not anymore! Their behavior was just so petty and stupid! They are supposed to be adults, not elementary school children.
I understand the concept of setting the alarm for earlier than necessary. I set my own alarm one hour earlier than I have to get up because it takes me a while to become conscience in the mornings. If Clair had a problem with it, yelling at Dominique and calling her a nasty name was the wrong way to resolve it. And then bringing it back up later in the day - so juvenile!

I felt like I was watching a bunch of high school girls tonight. Come on- sitting right beside someone and talking about them? I actually felt for Dominique (who has annoyed me in the past), I thought she handled it well though.
sistabaqt- I agree, if Claire wins the cover girl of the week" again I will be disappointed.
Last week I said I didn't like any of them- but maybe Aimee. Guess that's out the window!

If it had been me in that house with the alarm going off, I would have gotten out of bed and shaken Dominque to get her up, telling her that her alarm was going off! I certainly would not have let her sleep when it woke me up. I guess that is part of the problem of girls rooming together.
I am very tired of Dominque and her whole attitude. I do think she looks to old to be the next top model.
I agree that I could have gone my entire life without having to hear that Claire's milk is drying up. Blech. (And I breast fed my children so it's not like I am against it, I just don't want to hear about it!)
Lauren's Page ....agree, scary... I don't see how she could possibly win this competition with her horrible walking and bad posing.
I would like to see Whitney win but I just don't think that the designers will cater to a plus size model in their runway shows. And I am a little concerned that she may be getting a little to overconfident which is almost always the kiss of the death!

I really thought Whitney's and Kat's were terrific. Stacy Ann's was the worst. Too predictable, too boring yet she was the third person called up. I still am wondering what Stacy Ann is doing in the competition! I don't think Dominique's were "soft", I thought it was lifeless and awkward posing, which the photographer mentioned it was like three different body movements that didn't work. Not only did Dominque look lifeless and awkward, she looked OLD in that picture. I'll admit that she surprised me last week with her picture, she looked soft and younger, but this week, she looked like a middle aged hippie, NOT a model.
While I agree with Claire being ticked off at Dominique's alarm clock and Dominique being really snotty about it, being in the room while someone was sleeping when you have an entire apartment, that's just petty and childish. I did think it was really weird for Dom to call out Claire on how she acts with her husband, out of left field just like the racist comment with Whitney.
I am shocked that Aimee left, but with how much they were featuring her this week as opposed to the last weeks, I can't say that I'm surprised. :-\

Despite not being to blog the show...I of course caught the episode. I really really wanted to see Dominique sent home. She's not only unattractive but annoying as well. Her skills as a model ain't that great either. And I love that the 3 girls she fought with are my fav. 3 of the bunch. As for the elimination, I don't think posing as an R&B singer is as easy as Tyra made it out to be. Rap, you do gangsta...House, you do some tweaked out club kid...Rock/Punk/Grunge, you do something angry...but R&B is pretty tough. When it came down to sending either Claire or Aimee home, I was ok with Aimee going if it meant Claire could stay. See y'all next week!

Dom is an ass and not to bright if she can't figure out how to program a clock but the fighting with the other three was ridic on both ends.
Why is Stacy Ann still around? She should have been in the bottom two with Aimee with Aimee staying who I had pegged as a blandly pretty winner like C5 Nicole. She serves no purpose at all.
Dom is not winning this nor is Fats but Tyra will keep them for the potential drama they can generate. Claire isn't winning either because like Dom she's too old for CG/17 and a mother. Kata would be good but Tyra seems down on her. Stacy Ann is filler. I see Anya as a runner-up and her commercial is questionable. I don't think Lauren will win either because her walk is bad and I don't know how Miss Punk would do in her commercial. As for her site, it seems to have driven up the price for her artwork so she'll at least get something out of this show. The judges like Whitney and Tyra keeps casting these plussies so maybe this is her year for that plus winner she wants?
Random observations: Tyra is still a dingbat; Nigel is still a skeevy perv; those Russell James's pics all sucked (but consider the material he was working with); and Tootie has now been shown TWICE at the CG factory and TWICE at the Tibi show. If you've ever seen the entire runway show, Tootie is the definition of "One of these things is not like the others." She sticks out like a sore thumb...bad.
Next week's go-sees look interesting. I'd love to hear what the designers actually think about the girls and those bad portfolios Tyra sends them out with.

You know, Aimee was the only one that wasn't causing drama in the house. It used to be Claire and Aimee that were that ones who didn't get caught up in the idiotic girl fighting in the house, but Claire let me down and gave in.
Aimee was my last hope for any maturity and reason, but now she's gone. I was suprised that she did so badly this week. She has done so well in the past, but I could tell it was probably going to be her before there were any challenges because they were showing her a lot.
Lauren is my fave now, but she really needs to learn how to walk.

Anya's accent is Russian (she left when she was four) filtered through her Hawaiian pidgin. Which is why I say she gets runner-up because of how she'll probably come off in her commercial.
Also, Tyra cutting Kata's hair is not doing her any favors. Models book more work who have longer hair because of its versatility. Unless the hair is so short a la Claire's, it's really not doing her any good. But hey for some reason Tyra thinks she's too sexy (whatever that means). Tyra's a twit.
