Episode Recap: Top Model 10 Confidential
Hey All,
So I'm not blogging this week's show because lets face it...though they advertise previously unaired footage for these little recap episodes, that stuff never comes until the last 5 minutes. Do we really wanna hear Dominique brag even more about how she's got this competition in the bag? Or hear Fatima talk about how nobody else wants it as bad as she does? Instead, why don't you leave your comments about what y'all think of this season so far? Does it live up to previous cycles? Was the move back to New York enough of a change? And how about that Paulina? Let us know!

While the mere thought of keeping Dominique in the competition makes me throw up a little, this season is still better than last season.
Perhaps "Tootie" winning or the final two being the weakest final 2 in Top Model history just ruined season 9 as a whole for me (or maybe it was Tyra talking to the dragon to find out their international location, hmm), but it was the worst cycle in my opinion.
So, really, Tyra and company had no where to go but up with this bunch.
Gripes:
*The editing is again so obvious!
*!!!!!!!! TYRA MAIL!!!!!!!!
*Tyra wanting Nigel to "touch her booty" was way too over the top, even for her.
*Do we really need another T-Zone member over-staying her welcome?
Likes:
*The girls seem to be getting more "modelesque" pictures and challenges (e.g., ep one where they walked a runway) versus challenges where they picked their "model name".
*They seem to have a decent set of girls with potential. It's still painfully obvious who was cast for drama and who was cast for true potential.
One more gripe, do we really need a clip show (a) this early and (b) at all?

Dom of the Dead is supposedly the other T-Zone girl although I still haven't seen or heard anyone really confirm that. But she is definitely being kept around for the drama as Tyra always has one girl who overstays her welcome until the end. She won't win (they'll pull the "too old" card) but she's in for the long haul.
It's midway point for the show now. Next week they cut it down to six and go overseas so a recap epi at this time is about right.
The photos are little better but not much. They've either been too dark or too hokey. The first two cycles had the best photoshoots because they were taken from real photoshoot ideas. The girls said at Tyra's Fiercee Awards show when they were interviewed that they don't use any of the photos from this show in their portfolios.

I'm not usually one to comment, but I still can't get past the large gap in Dominique's mouth where she's missing a molar! At least we know which is her bad side. She reminds me of Jade (but with less talent) and I just couldn't stand her.
I do, however, like Paulina. She's fiesty.

What is with the inconsistency on this show?! One time Tyra says Katarzyna is too much of a chameleon but they vote off Claire because she isn't one. Then they pick on Claire's picture in the water cuz her cheek was smushed and brag on Fatima's picture and her cheek was smushed! AND it seems they vote off whoever the guest judge doesn't like. Get some consistency!

I also was put off by Dominiques gap. Very unclassy. That with her appearance at judging killed any positive opinion I had for her (not that there was much)
I see that in two weeks the girls will be shooting in Italy...hello the show has already been there! CWTV.com has a quiz at the shows website asking what country the show has not been shot in (Germany), I was sure that meant that the girls would be traveling there. Guess that Heidi Klum as the host of Germanys next top model has a contractual conflict with her being affliated with Project Runway so would not be able to put on a appearance.

I had my hopes up when the cast for this season was announced, the last couple seasons girls did not seem to be what is seen in the magazines (long lanky and exotic). Attitude and social skills aside this bunch of model wannabes seemed closer to that than the salecias/jaels/mollies of previous seasons. I also had prayed that there would be less "theme" modeling and more "advertisement" modeling. How often was tyra dressed up like a flower or mermaid. Season one photos for jewelry, season 2 sunglasses, eva and her incredible photo with the spider; while a small part of the modeling world; were intriqueing photo shoots. That is why I watch the show, to see the result of the shoots. I do not watch ANTM to have social messages presented ineffectually.

OK, I've got my rubber poncho and umbrella set for all the rotten tomatoes coming my way, but I really like Dom's photos and had her pegged right at the beginning as someone to watch. My husband thought I was crazy, but her photos really are GOOD. Now, if she'd just learn to SHUT HER BIG FAT MOUTH UP, she might develop some fans! She isn't quite as annoying as Jade [sorry to disagree], but she is at least as annoying as Dionne from Jaslene the Bone Queen's cycle!
I was sorry to see Claire go, although I understood what they were saying about "one look". On the other hand, with hair that short, if the hair & makeup people don't give you a wig or short-term extensions, what on earth are you gonna do? She was stupid to do something so drastic to her hair before coming on the show, but maybe she did it at the spur of the moment, not thinking for a second she would ever be chosen. After you've delivered a baby, you go through a whole stage of hating the way you look, so maybe she did something crazy to cheer herself up and just had really bad timing.
We don't get any of the "My Life as a Top Model" promos or anything like that in Canada, so I've never had the chance to compare Tootie's to Jaslene's to hear which is worse. All they need to do is to pick Anya this time and they'll be 3 for 3 of inaudible models! We always have the closed captioning on for this show, because I have trouble understanding many of the girls, but I've heard people from Hawaii before, and NONE of them sounded anything like she does!
