Episode Recap: If You Can't Make It Here, You Can't Make It Anywhere
Guess who's baaaacccckkkk? Sorry 'bout my absence last week. Moving ain't fun. Shout out to Gina for filling in for me! But enough about that. Let's talk Top Model. I go away for 1 week and come back to the go-sees. Where did the time go?
When things got underway, Lauren appeared to have a case of cabin fever. She had a major attitude and started flipping the bird left and right. As usual though, it wasn't long before the girls were sent off on their first mission.
The 8 remaining girls were split into 2 teams. Team 1 was Lauren, Anya, Fatima, and Kat while team 2 consisted of Dominique, Stacy-Ann, Whitney, and Claire. What a way to split em, eh? The 3 girls who had all of the drama last week are "randomly" placed on a team and told to work together. Surprisingly though, things went better than expected. The only real drama happened when Pamella Roland told Whitney she would never really book a girl her size for one of her runway shows. This set Whitney off on her proud to be big speech and I gotta say, I totally agree with her. Keep those comments to yourself Ms. Roland and just mark someone else's name on your scorecard! While Whitney dealt with her issues with Pamella and being forced to work with Dominique, the other team met with Shoshanna Gross to model bathing suits. No real drama there except Lauren once again struggled with her walk. I feel like even a toddler could get that walk down by now. After switching designers, the two teams met up at a third and final designer, Stacey Bendett (Alice and Olivia) who looked and acted like she was 17. Anyone happen to know how old she actually is? She didn't really have anything constructive to say except that Fatima was beautiful and Lauren can't walk. Who knew?! Once the girls were done with Stacey Bendett, the rep. from Seventeen magazine crowned Team 2 the winners (thanks to Stacy-Ann) and awarded them a summer beauty spread in the June issue of Seventeen.
The next day it was time for the photo shoot of the week and I gotta say, it was pretty cool. When the Tyra-mail came hinting to the girls what they'd be doing, Lauren made the funniest comment of the week. While the other girls tried to figure out what they'd have to do, Lauren announced: "I think it's a photo shoot!" Thanks Captain Obvious! I'd say that was Lauren inner-model coming out a bit. Anyhow, when the models arrived at the site of the shoot it really made me want to go out and buy tickets for the show they were shamelessly promoting (Fuerza Bruta.) The girls were shot from underneath as they flailed around in a puddle of water high above the ground. They were also photographed without any make-up which gave us the chance to see these girls' natural beauty. As things kicked off, Claire injured herself by slamming her face into the floor. Dominique seemed to rock Mr. Jay's world (his words, not mine.) Lauren was her usual awkward self. Kat was given a second makeover when she got her hair cut short after the judges loved her look in the last photo shoot. She embraced it and turned in a great performance during the shoot. Following the shoot, the girls rested up before facing the judges once again.
In panel, the judges seemed extremely disappointed with Claire's photo. They said Kat's picture was beautiful and Tyra commended Whitney for being one of the only girls to actually smile for her pictures. They came down on Lauren for having a weak shot which made me think she'd be the one going home. When it came time to eliminate someone it was between Claire and Lauren. Claire was sent home giving Lauren another chance to prove she can get out of this awkward "not a model" phase.
Well people, in my time away I have to say that I've had a change of heart. All season I've said my top 3 were Lauren, Whitney, and Claire. Even before this episode began and Claire was sent home I decided she was no longer my favorite and, like most of you, I'm getting sick of Lauren's complaining about not feeling like a model. So my friends, they've been replaced. I still love my Whitney and I want her to go all the way but I'd be just as happy seeing Kat take home the crown instead. I thought she was beautiful before the short hair (and I was pretty disgusted by Paulina's comment that "her Eastern European tackiness is gone") Shut it Paulina! You will never be Janice no matter how obnoxious the producers tell you to be. So what'd you all think? Did Claire deserve another chance over Lauren? Is Paulina just a puppet for the producers? Let us know!
And...well, you know what I'm gonna say so just click here if you just can't get enough Top Model.

Lauren needs to go. The girl can't walk!!!! Models walk on the cat walk, they walk in commercials, they walk on the red carpet, etc. Taking a good pic is NOT going to be enough for someone who is supposed to be a "Top Model." I think they're just keeping her for the drama, which is sad.
I also thought Paulina's comment to Kat was way uncalled for. Kat did well though, she didn't even look at Paulina like she had 2 heads (that's probably what I would have done.)

Adam,
It was Whitney who was picked first last week, not Lauren.

I went to see Fuerzabruta during previews last Fall and it is amazing. It's expensive, about $80 for a less than one hour performance, but it's like nothing else you'll see and I'm pretty sure performances are still going on because signs are still up at its Union Square location.
I really like Whitney, she is absolutely gorgeous and seems to have a good head on her shoulders, but her voice is starting to drive me crazy.
I'm ready to say goodbye to Dominique and Fatima.

I would love to Fuerzabruta it sounds like an interesting show.
Anyway, Im blown away that Pamella Roland told Fatima she wouldn't book Fatima cause she is a size 0. I thought a size zero in the modeling world is the perfect size to be. Who knew that you can't be too thin to be a model. However I still feel that Whitney isn't a plus size model. Just because she is a size 10 doesn't make her a plus size. She can still shop at a varity of stores not just one paticular one. Now if she was a size 14 Ok then.
Is it me or does anyone think that Fatima has bad skin?
I think Lauren takes good pics. But she really needs to practice her walk. Practice makes perfect.
I have a couple of notes to Claire: 1) please don't shave the side of your head like that again. 2) please don't slam your head into something like that again.
Adam, who did you replace your picks with?
StellaNYC, Im also ready to say goodbye to Dom and Fatima.
Shoshanna Gross ....wasn't that Jerry Seinfelds ex-girlfriend?
I also wanted to ask you guys this...where do you think the models are going to go for their out-of-country experience? I'm thinking some where in South America. They haven't been there yet.
I also agree about Paulina's comments towards Kat. But I did like her hair cut. I think Kat is going to win.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ready for Dominique to be gone! Oh my gods! She LITERALLY PATTED HERSELF ON THE BACK after getting a compliment, WTF?!?!? How obnoxious can you get? And I am SO sick and tired of her "they hate me because they're afraid of me" - she's NOTHING to be afraid of. While she may be attractive by conventional standards, she looks too old for a model and even with the new hair cut and colour she still looks too much like a drag queen. Please Tyra, Miss Jay, Paulina, Nigel and whomever you rope into guest judging, PLEASE put her out of my misery soon!
(Yes, I know, it's all pre-taped, but still... one can hope for a miracle, eh?)
I really didn't get them keeping Lauren over Claire. I'm starting to wonder if Lauren has something on somebody and is using that to keep herself on the show. Ok, not really, but you know what I mean, eh? She takes pretty good pictures, but she can't walk, she can't pose terribly well, and she doesn't seem to be able to present herself professionally, either. Ugh.
At least the Fatima annoyance factor was running on low volume this week. She still bugs me, but she wasn't so bad this week.
I found it odd that one model of Eastern European ancestry was talking about "Eastern European tackiness" in another model of Eastern European ancestry. It just didn't make any sense to me at all.
That's all!

I think that they should do a cycle with all plus sized girls. It would be a refreshing change and a lot more fair. There is now way a plus size girl will ever win in the world of 0's and 2's. They are just not for the same market. I don't know why they even waste their time. What do you think?

All fixed...thanks Fayd! And Lizzybelle, I still love Whitney but I'm also pulling for Kat to win. I'm not sure I have a 3rd option because none of the other girls really leave an impression on me. If Lauren stops complaining about not being like the other girls and actually works on her walk, I may go back to liking her.

I hate Fatima- she doesn't take good pictures- IMO this was her first week with at good picture. I much prefer Claire to Fatima! Love Kat, but it seems like the girl I like the most never seems to win.

I agree with baabteach - it does seem pointless to have plus-sized models competing with size 0 and 2 models. Most of the clients and designers who would book a plus-sized model wouldn't book a size 2 model, and vice versa. I'm also confused about Whitney even being called plus-sized though. Since when is a size 10 plus-sized? I'm fairly certain Lane Bryant doesn't even make clothing in that size.
Either way, Whitney and Kat are my favorites now, with Anya a distant third. Dominique is beyond annoying. I hope she's eliminated next week!

I was just wondering where is Anya from? She seems to have an accent and maybe I missed when the original casting was done where she came from. Thanks for your help. Good recap Adam. I wonder if they will do go sees again when they get to their foreign destinations.

I wish Whitney could have heard that horrible woman tell Fatima that they wouldn't use a size zero, either. So she knew that the woman wasn't just against a size 10, but also just didn't want anyone except the elusive Size 2 Model.

Kat and Anya are my new favorites.
The new haircut they gave Kat was not anywhere near as cute as her wig last week. Its a lukewarm middle ground and she deserves better.
I thought the photo shoot was a hideous idea. Chalk another one up to Tyra's incredible ineptitude. You couldnt see the faces, the girls, or the clothes through that water and plastic so what the hell was the point? Some of the girls got good shots, but it was art not fashion. And it really didnt matter if they were wearing makeup or not because all you could see was bright red and white lights.
I don't believe for a second that Dominique believes the garbage coming out of her mouth. She knows she's the b*tch and she also knows the b*tch never wins. She's in it for the acting gigs she'll get later.
Claire was obnoxious this week, which makes me think maybe she was obnoxious all along and they edited it out. Either way, it was glaringly obvious she was going home when they put her and Lauren in the bottom 2. Im sure they wanted it to be "shocking" but if you've watched more than 3 reality shows in your lifetime you've probably caught on to their m.o.

I was just wondering where is Anya from?
I think on the show it was stated that Anya is from Russia, but lives in Hawaii, so she has some weird hybrid accent going on.
Back to the show though--when the cycle first started, I thought Claire was a shoe-in to take it all the way. But gosh, her attitude changed and she quickly turned into a child that just would not listen. I guess her high and mighty attitude was showing through in her photos. Tyra and Co. finally seem to be getting their act together after the last 2 seasons' debacles of Jaslene and Saleisha (man I hate her commercials- she doesn't annunciate!) Hopefully this year's winner will be able to do better than that. As much as I like Anya, I'm afraid her speaking voice could get her into trouble. I'm rooting for Kat all the way- and I LOVE her new hair!

I was livid when Claire got booted instead of Lauren. She wasn't my top choice, but she has 100% more actual modeling potential - can you even imaging Lauren on an actual go-see? Lumbering in there and telling the client, "I, uh, really am a punk, so I, uh, don't wear heels and stuff"? And judging anything on the faces from the photo shoot is crazy. With that weird lighting, they all looked kind of morphed. The judges loved the shot of Anya, but she looked like a flounder with that distorted eye. Shoots like this are more about the photographer, not the model.
Dump Dragula, soon. She looked like she'd been ridden hard and put away wet at panel, and she STILL thinks she's gonna win. Fatima is a b#*%^, but she's got the goods to make a career. I am still rooting for Whitney, and Kat is really moving up the list as well.
