Episode Recap: The Top Four Revealed!
OK, so let's face it; last night was as boring as whale sh-t. Bet you didn't know whale shizzle was boring, but it is. And last night's show almost made it seem interesting. And was it me, or did Neil Diamond not make the greatest mentor? Or maybe they just cut it all out for time's sake. Either way, I was disappointed.
Tonight, the Idols begin with a medley of ND songs, starting off with snooze-fest Jason Castro singing "Cracklin' Rose." However, the others come in with some awesome harmony which saves the song. They keep going with more songs and end with their hands in the air like they're the Osmonds or Bradys. It's weird and stagey. So, moving on....
Ryan points out that Constantine and Gina are in the audience... not just to say, "Hi," but to pimp out their new American Idol post-show gig for Fox. Ugh. Next. Then we get a recap of last night's performances.
Wow. In an unusual move by Idol and Seacrest, they address the rumors about Paula's behavior last night (basically, everyone said she was drunk). Ryan said, "The rumors aren't true. Paula's part of our family and we love her." Cut to Paula looking teary-eyed and Simon leaning over to plant a wet one on her cheek. I'm going to refrain from making any smart comments here. It's hard, but I will refrain.
Elimination time! Jason's out first and he's safe. Seriously America? What's your damage? The guy needs to go home. Archie is safe as well. Surprise, surprise.
Now we get a preview (more Fox pimpage) of So You Think You Can Dance. I do love that show though... except for crazy-ass Mary Murphy and her banshee scream.
Eliminations continue... Cook is safe, of course. At least you got that one right, America. He brings Brooke and Syesha and just blabs on and tortures the poor girls... and we know we're just going to watch Neil Diamond and Natasha Bedingfield perform first.
Natasha "Ginormous Choppers" Bedingfield performs an annoying song called "Pocket Full of Sunshine." But what do I know, she's sold a bazillion records. Seacrest says Archie wants to ask her to prom after she hugs him like a teddy bear.
Ugh. Questions from phone callers. Simon does his Rocky and Bullwinkle hand gesture while some chick asks Simon if he thought Paula's or the chick's kiss was a better performance. While I do delight in Simon's embarrassment, this is just so ucky.
ND is up and he sounds great as always, but talk about boring! His band dancing in the background is more interesting. Now it's picking up a little... he actually said, "Ow!" and is gyrating his hips around. Yikes! Look at the back up singers! They aren't "Pretty Amazing." They're pretty scary.
The real elimination now: It's Brooke's turn to go home. I know it's her time after that awful "I'm a Believer" last night, but I thought Jason deserved to go first.
What did you think of tonight's decision? Are you going to miss Brooke's emotional drama?

I was convinced that it was gonna be Jason tonight, and I really believed it was his time to go. Alas, my one-time favorite female in the competition was sent packing. I really felt bad for Brooke... I'm totally emotional like she is and I would've been bawling too if it had been me. I liked that the other four came and stood with her while she was singing. It seems like they become such a family on this show, and I love that.
Did it bug anyone else how shocked Archie pretended to be when Ryan said he was safe? We get it, you're a nice kid. Aw, shucks. But you knew you weren't going home, kid.
I actually liked the group performance tonight, especially David Cook's part at the end.
LOVED Paula's outfit tonight, as well as Brooke and Syesha's dresses. Kudos to Syesha for putting on some shoes.
OK, I guess I'm done. That was a lot of rambling. Can't wait for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next week!

I like Brooke a lot and felt really sorry for her since she was so emotional (when someone else cries, I cry too - I don't know what my problem is).
Neil Diamond is awful so I turned the channel and didn't watch his performance. Why on earth would they have picked him?
Natasha Bedingfield is not very talented. Brooke and Syesha are better than she is.
I actually thought Jason sounded okay when they started out the show. I am sort of happy he's still around even though I think he has no talent because it would serve Simon right to be stuck promoting whatever type of record Jason would do.

It was past time for Brooke to go home, IMO, but Jason should have gone before her. I'm really glad Simon's prediction didn't work against Syesha. She won't make it past next week, probably, since Jason seems to have a lot of fans out there. Guess it depends on who Brooke's votes will go to. If people voted for her because she's nice, it will be David A. In the end it will be the two Davids [surely Jasons fans won't be able to oust one of them]. My pick would be David Cook because he's a more mature singer. David A. will be a star in any case..........as Neil Diamond predicted. I wonder who the other "prodigy" was.....he said there were a couple of them. I'm glad Ryan spoke up for Paula. It's too easy to make nasty comments on these anonymous boards. I figured she was flustered because she was caught off guard and was confused by the rehearsals and the two-song night. At any rate, I'd hate to see how many flubs I'd make on live TV. Simon was really caught red-faced by the caller who'd been his first kiss. But he recovered and sounded like he'd like to see her again. Isn't he getting married this summer?

I didn't like the group song except for David Cook at the end, who was awesome.
I really enjoyed Natasha's performance; it was terrific for a live show, and she was funny cuddling the Baby Angel.
For someone pushing seventy, I thought Neil Diamond was excellent. But I love him, so I'm probably not a great judge.
My dreadlocked boy is still here! I'm happy, if he's happy.
Lock me in jail, but I'm very glad Brooke is gone. It will be nice just to see her in the audience. Prolonged nervous breakdowns wear me out.

I am so very happy that Jason is still in this thing!! I loved Brooke ever since her audition but the last couple of weeks have not been her best. It's like she lost all confidence. I can't begin to imagine the pressure cooker this show is....I'd be a mess after one week!!! So kudos to Brooke for lasting as long as she did. And YIPEE that Jason is back next week. Love him and David Cook!!!!!!

I said BS aloud when Ryan said Jason go to the couch, you are safe. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Is he getting votes from "vote for the worst?" Brooke is sweet, and has a pure voice but she was out of her league and she knew it. I agree the two David's will be left standing. I hope David Cook wins.

Actually, Brooke was getting support from the vote for the worst crowd.
I thought that Jason Castro was the great pretender tonight. Ryan asked him if he was worried about going home and he almost said not really. He didn't even try to pretend he was worried or upset that he might be gone. HE'S the cocky one, I think, moreso than Cook or Archuleta. Of course, it could be that the wacky tabacky might be mellowing him to the point of complete relaxation.

I also think that Jason should have gone before Brooke, but I can see where his charm is keeping him in - it can't be his talent because he doesn't even seem to be trying anymore.
Thank you, Simon, for saying Syesha was in danger...I think he swayed people to vote for her and she has rightly lasted another week, though I don't believe she'll beat Jason and his fans next week.
No doubt that David C. is the best, so I hope the teenyboppers vote heavily so that David A. wins. David C. is too good to be an American Idol. His career will be much better off (think Daughtry) if he does NOT win.

Do we need more proof the voting needs to be revamped? What a crock. Why is Jason still there? His pretty eyes and nice smile? Good lord save me!
Did you catch Ace Young sitting in front of Constantine and that rocker chick - I forget her name - with a big smile like he might get interviewed too? Then Ryan just walked past him. Poor Ace - you need to work for Fox to get camera time or have a movie by Fox coming out.

Why did they give the impression that Syesha was in the bottom 2? Ryan never said she was, but most people probably assumed. I hope that it is just to motivate people to vote for her, at the very least, past Jason who should/probably was in the bottom 2 this week.

Jason isn't my favorite. But he's not cocky!
It's just that he's very relaxed and isn't as cold and calculating as David C or David A.
Right now, I'm rooting for Syesha. David A is my possible favorite, but I like to root for the underdog. And she's taken far more flak than she deserves so far!

I read an article today about Carly Simon and her support of Brook. The article states "And she doubts that the other noted singer-songwriters of her generation — Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell and ex-husband James Taylor — could have gone far because they all had distinctive but untrained voices." I even think of John Denver, Peter Paul and Mary and Bruce Springsteen. All unique but not powerhouse voices. That is why I like Jason so much. He would be great doing some James Taylor. A lot of people love is laid back, mellow voice. I will be preordering any CD that both he and David Cook come out with. I would love to see them as final 2. I don't think either needs to win it though. They will both do fine.

I wonder why Ryan when talking to Maroulis (he was pretty good on "Bold and the Beautiful")and Gina ignored Ace Young and his twin? I guess he didn't have an ace up his sleeve nor did the producers need for Ace to be introduced. He wasn't there to promote anything. I found it a very emotional moment when Brooke was eliminated and glad when I was handed a tissue or two by my girlfriend. She's not as sensitive as me but when I saw Brooke cry then I knew my waterworks would be next. What is wrong with this show that Jason cannot be shown the exit sign? It's getting dumber and dumber I say. I rather see ed Grimley (Martin Short) sing than Jason. Now he's in the top 4??? This show needs a great deal of re-tooling. Neil Diamond's band has been with him for decades....talk about loyalty and the middle female vocalist I believe is his girlfriend, Linda Press. I was very happy to see his mother in the audience. I've been a fan since 1965 with "Cherry, Cherry" and "Solitary Man". Very glad that at least Syesha is still in it to win it. What's on the agenda next week?
