January 22, 2007: Day 6: 10 am — 11 am
Ladies and gentlemen, readers of all ages, my mind has officially been blown. Mystery Bluetooth Man is Jack's brother? Of all the possible answers to "Who's this weasel pulling President Logan's strings?" that we contemplated last season, I'm pretty sure I never would have come up with that one. I still have no idea who the former Rocket Romano's working with (or for), but I can't wait to find out. We know he's got issues with Jack, both professionally (to surveillance guy: "We should have killed Jack when we had the chance") and personally (to his wife, the ubiquitous Rena Sofer: "You weren't over Jack when we got married and you're still not"). But beyond that, nothing but question marks. Meanwhile, I guess Jack's little crisis of faith has passed for the time being; mere minutes after stepping down from his post as World's Most Bad-Ass Hero, he was back in action scaling apartment buildings and hoisting helicopter-crash victims to safety. (Cue awesome explosion.) And this may say more about me than it does about Jack, but it wasn't his trademark rooftop heroics that convinced me he's back in business — it was that moment when he ripped the cord from the lamp to tie up brother Gray, all in an effort to track down their "old man." Something tells me a Bauer family reunion doesn't involve burgers on the grill and a friendly game of bingo. Or if it does, there's a lot more, you know, actual torture. Speaking of which, as graphic as the interrogation scenes can get on this show, I have to admit that the bloodless image of Gray fighting for breath through a plastic bag may be about as disturbing as they come.
Meanwhile, Fayed's looking for an engineer to help him detonate the other four suitcase nukes; the man who sold Fayed the weapons knows a guy who knows a guy, and his girlfriend's a little cranky (and not quite yet relevant); the President's finally been moved to his bunker for safe-keeping; despite a lot of back talk from Sandra Palmer, Walid's been bullied into wearing a wire for the FBI, and he's making friends on the inside; Assad's work here has been done, apparently, but not before he earned the begrudging respect of Bill Buchanan; and we still have no information on the whereabouts of the greatest secret service agent who ever lived, one Aaron Pierce.
Seriously, Bluetooth Guy from last season is Jack's brother. I'm just sayin'.

While having the former Rocket Romano being Jack's brother was a surprise, the one that got me was having Rena Sofer as his wife who once was involved with Jack! And she also plays Nathan's wife on Heroes, which is opposite 24. How convenient! Since she's now on two of the hottest shows on TV right now, can we now take Ms. Sofer off the "female Ted McGinley" label? Since I doubt either show will "jump the shark" soon, it is no longer deserved.

I am stunned, stunned, I say! I can't believe that conniving, cold-hearted Gray is (1) married, (2) has a kid and (3)most of all, Jack's brother who regrets not having killed him when he had the chance! I never saw this coming at all. Great episode but doesn't Sandra Palmer get annoying or is it me? I still don't trust Tom, the prez's aide. Wow, is all I can, wow.

Blew. My. Mind.
That nephew of his...I'm guessing not so much his nephew. And his father is James Cromwell! If he says, "That'll do" I'm gonna lose it.
Didn't think these writers could keep this level of freaking me out going, but they are. Serious kudos.

WOW! I was shocked when Jack said he had a brother. When it turned out to be "Bluetooth" I had to pick my jaw off the floor. I thought the son looked like he could be Jack's but younger than Kim so maybe not. I can't wait until next week to meet Dad.

I think the guy they find to help with the bombs if going to be Morris.
I can't believe Blue Toothguy is Jack's Brother. I was yelling at the TV on that one.

OMG, I am so glad I am not the only one who had no idea that Bluetooth was Jack's brother. I, too, was surprised when it was said he had a brother but for it to turn out to be Bluetooth??? Shocking.
I'm thinking there was some type of love connection between Mrs Bluetooth & Jack. Probably before Terri cuz I was under the impression Nina was Jack's one & only indiscretion.
Morris as the go-to guy? Hmmm, I can actually see that happening, good call.
I just love this show & cannot wait for next week. Jack is definitely back!

That little nuclear bomb of a revelation had me pausing the TiVo to regain my sanity. Jack's brother? Holy dysfunctional family, Bauer!
I think the nephew is Jack's son. The looks passing between the characters were very telling. And just because he's younger than Kim doesn't mean anything. We know Jack had strayed from Teri before (most notably with Nina.) Perhaps she married Gray to cover the pregnancy.

Good episode, although with the exception of Bluetooth it was a bit predictable.
Was anyone else disappointed that James Cromwell is playing Jack's father instead of Donald Sutherland? I was really hoping that Keifer's real-life dad would play his dad on camera.
Also, isn't this the season that leads up to the movie? Anyone else thinking they'll find all the bombs but one and leave that one for the big screen?

Wow! That was the biggest suprise of the season! The elitist dude is Jack's not so good looking brother...wth (anyone get a strange sense of Cain and Abel) Does Jack realize how ruthless his brother is? I'm wondering if he even has the faintest idea of the events his brother has been behind.
Yeah..and I'm guessing..just a hunch...that is not Jack's nephew
I can't wait to see James Cromwell as Jack's father in next week's episode. Hell, I didnt realize Jack had a family. I thought he was just spawned lol j/k
I was sad to see Assad leave. I would have thought he would have stuck around for a few more hours.

Theory - maybe we haven't seen the last of Assad. Could he be working with Fayed after all? What did CTU learn from Assad, but about one bomb and it went off anyhow. He gave them no information about the other four bombs, he got away scott free, he now has the confidence of CTU and he knows someone is working deep cover in the detainment camp. Sounds like a terrorist's dream come true.

I was laughing and saying "No way!" when they revealed Gray was Jack's brother. I love this show. Meanwhile, did I miss the part where they explain why Jack would immediately resort to torturing his own brother for info? Does Jack already his brother is rotten to the core and deserves this? Talk about sibling rivalry - worst I ever did to my sister as kids was kick her in the shin!

I was yelling at the TV, too, when I realized Bluetooth was Jack's brother! I'm not easily surprised - this was just a jolt!
Jack knows something's up, though - or he wouldn't have gone to the house. Am I the only one who suspects that Jack's father is at Gray's?????
Between Battlestar Galactica on Sunday night and 24 on Monday - I don't know how much my heart can take!

Oh yeah, I was shocked too. Wow!
Yes, there certainly is a resemblance between Jack and his "nephew".
I'm glad to see Rena Sofer again. She's as drop-dead gorgeous now as she was when she played crazy Eve on "Melrose Place."
Lastly, I really don't think Morris will turn out to be a bad guy. We don't have any good reason to believe that he is. I hope he'll stay on "our side"--if only for Chloe's sake!

Well everyone has already said it, but I could not believe it either!!! Last season's baddie is Jack's brother!!! I caught on right away, but my husband and kids, who are devoted fans, said "isn't that the guy ...?" OMG!!! Great twist!!! It is great to see Rocket Romano finally getting what he deserves. Great call from everyone about the nephew being Jack's son. I have loved Rena Sofer since she was Lois Quartermaine on General Hospital. She has always been an over the top character before, so it was interesting to see her be so understated last night. Didn't the nephew wonder why mom didn't even say hi to her brother-in-law? I think the clock is ticking for Walid and he is not going to make it through the day. That FBI guy is really annoying as well as Sandra Palmer.
