Rogue agent! If you had any doubt that Jack would move heaven and earth to rescue Audrey from those dadgum Chinese, then let's face it you don't know Jack. Convincing Chloe to hack into Morris' system for the nuke schematics? Check. Browbeating the president into signing off on a mock handover of the component? Check. Getting the upper hand on Doyle and driving away into the night, one man on a mission of love? Double check. (And how!) As we learned last week, there's nothing more gratifying than watching Jack go it solo, taking charge of the situation as only the loneliest of lone wolves knows how. I'm thinking we'll see Chang buy the farm Fayed-style before the day is over.
Meanwhile, President Palmer the Younger pays the high price of getting his way you save the country with your heroics, you're gonna wind up dead or incapacitated.... Just ask your brother. So much for Wayne's morally satisfying request for VP Daniels to step down incriminating voice recording or not, ol' Noah isn't the type to go quietly. I loved that chilling moment as Palmer collapsed in the middle of his "everything's OK, really" speech, while Daniels calmly slipped his letter of resignation back into his breast pocket. Let's just save that for a rainy day, shall we?
So far I'm really digging this wild left turn just when you think the crisis is averted, we're on a whole new wild Audrey chase, complete with recurring villain and the potential to start World War III. If only we could figure out a way to involve Sherry Palmer or Nina Myers from beyond the grave, we'd be all set.
Let's go ahead and start the bidding pool who's gonna be the next casualty? I'm still having major dread when it comes to Karen and Bill, and as much as I think Bill would deliver some outstandingly mournful soldiering-on if Karen went down in the line of duty, I think we all know what happens after you've given several years of faithful service to CTU. Just ask Curtis. Or Tony. Or Edgar. Or George Mason. Or....

To all those who could see the Prez's collapse a mile away, say I.

I'm getting so tired of the Vice President growling and squinting with that menacing glare in his eye. Why doesn't anyone working with him see that he's a psychotic? (sorry, but I have to say it: he reminds me way too much of our real V.P.)
And I kind of hope that Palmer collapsed for the last time. He's been falling down more than Britney Spears stumbling out of rehab.
But it's great to see Jack up to his old tricks in his effort to rescue Audrey. I felt bad, though, when Buchanan relieved Chloe of her duties because he couldn't trust her anymore. I understand his point, but ouch! I hate to see Chloe sent to the sidelines, or having her loyalty to CTU questioned after all of her dedication to them (is her loyalty to Jack stronger?)

Doyle has got to learn to do a better phone fake out.
Glad to see more Jack in this ep.
Enjoying the new direction of the plot much better.

Didn't Karen save Bill or Bill save Karen last season by doing something against the rules? Though this is exciting but here again this has been done before. How are they going to keep Jack from going to prison this time. It just seems that everything Jack does is against the rules that could have him fired or in prison.
Next season they will make an excuse to bring Jack back for temporary service and then he will go rogue again.
Something new please.

It's like getting a second mini-season. I think Tom is next to go. He is at this point the biggest threat to Daniels keeping his power. Once again there is an event that breaks the mold of previous seasons. Usually Chloe secretly helps Jack and usually when caught bluffs or convices someone into going along, but this time she turns him in.

I loved it when Doyle said "you can't go against the White House, Jack!"
I thought, "obviously you don't know Jack Bauer very well." I mean, what a dolt.
I also knew Wayne was going to collapse. I've been waiting for it since he woke back up. But when I knew for sure it was going to happen was the moment that Daniels walked into the room with his letter in his hand when he was delivering his speach. There was no doubt that Wayne wasn't going to make it through that press conference.
But...Did my eyes deceive me or did I see Wayne on the previews for next week?

Everybody saw Palmer's collapse coming ... because it was set up so everybody would see it coming. Not everything is supposed to be a shock. Sometimes it's a case of instilling a little dread in the viewer by making it clear something bad is about to happen.

I agree that not everything has to be a shock, but it seems like this season has had more 'obvious' plot points that prior seasons. Still enjoy the show, just saying.

Two weeks in a row of suspense on 24... What a surprise! Last night's episode actually left me a bit tired - I haven't felt that way since hour 4, Curtis and the first nuke. Hopefully they can keep this momentum for the rest of the season.
I'm starting to wonder if TPTB are considering carrying on 24 with Doyle instead of Jack... Jack's the life of the show, no doubt, but how much more can one man take, physically and emotionally?

I saw someone in the previews that at first I thought was Palmer, too, but it isn't - take another look. I guess it's a new character.

The first scene has Doyle telling Jack that as a result Presidential order, the DOD and military will take control of the nukes. Two or three scenes later, Karen tells Palmer that the nukes have been recovered. Shouldn't he have known that since only he as the President can issue a Presidential order? That was very bad editing. I turned away at that point. I've watched my last episode of "24."

kaydee - I thought the same thing - why was he surprised? I thought it was an indicator that Doyle was bad, but I guess it was just bad editing.
I hate to say this - but next week I'm watching Heroes live and saving 24 on my DVR. I have loved this show for years, but the road the plot is taking this year is not interesting to me in the least - I'm tired of all the mini romances and I am SOOOOOO over Audrey.

Bye bye kaydee. I for one think it's still one of the best shows on tv. I love when Jack goes rogue with only his sidekick Chloe on his side. The only reason she turned him in was because Morris forced her. allegro337, I too think that they're grooming Doyle as Jack's replacement. Let's hope that Palmer makes a full recovery, off camera. LOL at the Britney Spears stumbling out of rehab GarryB.

A bad edit was your last straw? Obviously you were already going to stop watching. No need to be dramatic.
These last two episodes have completely regained the beauty of 24, in my mind. Much more of Jack and Chloe doing what they do best. I just hope everything gets tied back together and the dangling plot with Jack's dad is resolved.
