« Saving the World One TV Show At A Time
Unforgettable
This may make me a bad Supernatural fan, but I'm just gonna say it. Last night's season 3 finale was by far my favorite finale of the 3 we've had. In order of preference, they'd be "No Rest For the Wicked", "Devil's Trap", and "All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2."
I know that up to this point, most of us felt like "Devil's Trap" was the epitome of Supernatural awesomeness, but after last night's episode, "No Rest For the Wicked" knocked it down a notch, in my opinion.
Perhaps it's because I just watched the show last night, so it's fresh in my mind, but I can remember everything about last night's episode. However, when it comes to "Devil's Trap," what I remember is how I felt all summer long about the car crash at the end. I don't remember what happened during the rest of the entire hour, but I remember that I sat up on my couch that night, screamed OH MY GOD, and said, "I hate you Eric Kripke." Then I spent the entire summer planning how I was going to stalk Eric Kripke and make him tell me what happened after the crash instead of having to wait until fall. But it was just that scene and how I felt about it that I remember.
For "No Rest For the Wicked," I remember everything about it from Dean being scared to Dean hallucinating Sam's demonic face to Bon Jovi (my personal happy time during the episode) to Dean's cheesy/heartfelt speech that he practiced but Sam still saw right through to the holy water sprinklers to Ruby being caught to Bobby going with them to Dean being ripped to shreds while Sam was pinned to the wall unable to help to Ruby becoming Lilith and then extruding the demon from her via black smoke to Dean being trapped in some kind of Hell Spiderweb to Sam holding his dead brother's body in his arms crying and screaming no.
It's all there, and I will think about every aspect of it until the season 4 premiere. Sam crying at the end definitely sticks with me as do a lot of questions that Eric created for us last night.
I told myself at 9pm last night that I would be saying, "I hate you, Eric Kripke" in about an hour, and I was right except for one thing. I said, "Oh how I love you, Eric Kripke," too. He may very well be the best storyteller of his time. He's brilliant because he's able to dangle us all on a stick and keep us wanting more.
There are plenty of shows out there that I could probably read a synopsis on and get all I need without watching the actual show. And for the most part you can probably find that about Supernatural, but the difference is that I don't want to. I want to take in every single second of every single episode and enjoy my one hour a week with the Winchester Boys as much as I can. And that credit is due completely to Mr. Kripke and his group of minions.
I cannot wait for the season 4 premiere, but now that we've been with this show for 3 seasons, I trust that Eric and his minions will not disappoint in any way.
P.S. I watch Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, and Supernatural on Thursday nights. All of them had some great lines in them. But, my favorite line of the entire night was when Gio said to Betty, "I don't want to be the rebound guy. I want to be the guy."
