« Saving the World One TV Show At A Time
Fresh Start
I know...I know...I haven't put my highlight thoughts up from all the shows I missed blogging about. Yeah I get it...I suck at this, but at least I'm keeping my promise about starting fresh today with new information. Last night was actually kind of fun to get back in the swing of things and pay closer attention than I normally do because I knew I was going to be talking to all of you about Supernatural and Grey's Anatomy, so without further delay...
Supernatural: *I actually really enjoyed this episode. It reminded me of the good old days when it was just Sam and Dean working it out together. Don't get me wrong, I love Bobby and Ellen and Daddy Winchester (when he was alive), but the show was written to be about these two brothers against the demon world, so when we get a chance to have the show at its core intention, I'll take it!! *I may be in the minority on this one, but I liked the demon story this week. And I was equally intrigued that they didn't actually have to kill the demon. Sure the now teenage Snow White did die, but Sam and Dean didn't have to bring out the Latin or any holy water or anything like that. They just had to find the root of the problem and get the father to let her go. *I did have the doctor pegged as someone involved, but I didn't figure him for the actual demon. Not like last week when I so totally saw through the priest from the first second he showed up on screen. I'm glad he turned out to be an ok guy. I was about to be a little concerned that he was so easily convinced about Sam's story of his daughter's spirit until he said, "so you've seen her, too." That was much better than him just blindly believing it. *We had 5 fairy tales in all: The Three Little Pigs, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood. Having those stories personified rather than having actual wolves and such involved was a bit creepy. The little old lady in the house in the woods was enough to drive me to not watch another Disney movie for a while, even though their versions are much more tame. But, sheesh...that lady could have killed that guy with her eyes practically. *In the end, when the doctor finally let his daughter go, it was a perfect way for Sam and Dean to have another I'm dying and you can't stop me heart to heart. But, Dean doesn't want to be just let go. He can't admit he's scared though and he though his motives for bringing Sam back from the dead were selfish, his motives for keeping Sam from getting Dean out of the crossroads deal are selfless because it's keeping Sam alive. Oh that Catch-22 gets you every time! *As for Sam, I've come to the conclusion that Kripke is going to have to do some heavy convincing of at least me that Sam isn't part evil now. That killing of the Crossroads Demon was pure "I hate you so I'm gonna kill you cause I can." Sam even went so far as to appear like he was having second thoughts about killing her and then caught her off guard. HOLY COW (that's actually what I said outloud last night). I seriously keep waiting for Sam's eyes to turn black like the other demons. Anyone else??? *Other key observations and favorite lines: --Seriously, how many motels from the 70s does Vancouver actually have? I mean I'm sure some of these hotels are created on the lot, but you have to think that some of them are location shoots. So, how many motels are there in Vancouver like that??? --Sam and Dean arguing: Sam: You're not dad! Dean: Ok, but I'm the oldest --Sam and Dean's discussions about Fairy Tales and how into it Sam is: Dean: Do you think about fairy tales often? Later-- Dean: Dude, could you be more gay?...Don't answer that.
Grey's Anatomy: *Ok. I'm going to get on my Izzie soap box for a minute here because the character really bothers me, so bear with me. --Will someone please tell Hahn that Izzie is the one who cut Denny's LVAD wire thus making Hahn lose the heart transplant she was fighting with Burke over? I bet that would get her kicked off of cardio quickly! --Shonda Rimes has always talked about how she writes the dialog for these characters to be more realistic and true to life conversations and experiences. Does that not carry over to their actions? I have it on good authority from a doctor that Izzie would never be let back in a hospital after intentionally cutting the LVAD wire...I don't care how much therapy you give the girl. --The idea of Izzie and George having sex actually makes me throw up a little in my mouth. They are too much like buddies that I can't get them romantically. --I think I'm just sick of her winning because she has done a lot of things that warrant her not being a character on this show for a while! Ok...off the soap box *I think my favorite part may very well have been George holding the wedding dress and having the peanut gallery sit there like they were watching some sporting event. That was hysterical. I may be cruel and unusual, but I liked Sloan sticking up for Callie and making George do that. I just don't feel like he's suffered enough in all of this. *Hahn had quite the first day as an official Seattle Grace employee. But she was never more true than when she called Derek and Mark Pretty and Prettier. And mistaking them for being a couple...PRICELESS!!! *I cannot wait to see how this whole Karev and Lexie thing pans out. Karev is nothing if not honest and he laid it all out on the table for her. She bit and now all she's getting out of him is sex. It's an interesting dynamic though. She doesn't mind getting just sex out of a guy, but seems to be very self aware and ok with herself. Whereas Meredith has abandonment issues and can only go as far as sex with guys. It's almost like Meredith and Karev are the same types of people and Lexie and Derek are the same types of people. Yeah...I'm probably the last one to figure that out...huh!
Alright...that's all I got. I've got an all weekend function this weekend at my church, so I'll be watching the Friday shows at some point Sunday if I can pull myself out of the fetal position after the Colts/Pats game Sunday afternoon to watch them. Have a good one, y'all!
