Thoughts on Thursday Night

featuredpost.jpg
Hi buddies!

Work sucks today, so I really shouldn't be anywhere near the blogosphere, but with tv as good as it was last night, how could I not pop in and get a few things off of my chest:

(Spoilers below, just in case...)

Lost:
• Michael Emerson was freakin' amazing. I think he should submit last night's episode as his emmy ticket... in the lead role (not supporting).

• RIP, Alex. My jaw hit the ground when Kemme (sp?) pulled the trigger. I'm not sure who was more shocked: Ben or me.

• Ben, my sympathies for your loss, but keep away from Penny and Desmond!!

• Sawyer's protectiveness of Hurley was such an awwwww moment. I loved it.

• I also loved that Bernard got some more moments to shine last night. He is such a closet-bad-ass, and he proved his worth once again last night. (I hope that he and Rose are safe and together in Future-Hiding somewhere.)

• The smoke monster... there are no words to describe the awesomeness of its return.

• The mowing down of all Camp Locke Red Shirts at the beginning of the episode was crazy (in a good way).

Supernatural
• Such an awesome episode. I loved it.

• The "you must be gay to save that intern" (or something like that) may just be the funniest line to ever hit Supernatural... and that's obviously really saying something.

• Sam tied up with a birthday hat on his head as a tormented, psycho, ghost killer plays "It's My Party and I'll Cry if I Want To" on the stereo... freakin' hilarious.

• Dean has less than two months to live? I'm worried. I'm very worried. Especially given the pretty-revealing spoiler by Kristen at E! a few days ago.

• I hope this isn't the last we've seen of the Ghostfacers on the series.

30 Rock
• Despite the grudge I have against this show because of Ben Silverman's "pro-30/anti-FNL" comments a few weeks ago, I do still love it so and last night's ep was genius. Absolute genius.

• The "Phantom of the Opera" send-up was brilliant. Did Tina Fey sell her soul to a Crossroads Demon in exchange for comedic brilliance? She must have.

The Office
• Toby putting his hand on Pam's leg and then bolting the fence to move to Costa Rica was another laugh-your-coke-through-your-nose moment in a night that was full of them.

• It was a little sad to see Pam and Jim lose the impromptu "best couple" vote to Ed and Angela

• So was Ryan on coke or on E? It's not really important, I'm just curious.

• "Like a famous person once said: 'Boys on the side.' But I say: 'Let's hear it for the boys.'" Rod says "let's hear it for the writers!!!"

Ugly Betty
• I never thought I would come to this conclusion, but I am on board Team Gio. As long as Henry continues to be the pussycat-of-the-year, I'm done with him. What exactly is Betty carrying a torch for? Bring old Henry back, or kick him and his baby's mamma to the curb.

• Ana Ortiz is all kinds of awesome.

• What's up with the new shaved-head look on Thursday nights (Gio on Betty, Jack on WAT, Alex on Grey's)?

Without a Trace
• Jack finally got the last SOB from the human trafficking ring. Fantastic!

• I know it was a very small and subtle moment, but I thought that Samantha getting into the ambulance with Jack and the end of the ep (instead of going home like he told her) was an awesome moment.

Grey's Anatomy
• This wasn't the show's best ep, but it was still pretty dang good; and it just goes to show you that it is ok to like both Grey's and Supernatural. (More and more crossover fans are coming out... don't be afraid!) ;)
• I like Rose (admittedly in the minority on that one, but that's ok), and it's sad to know that her heartbreak is only a matter of time.

• Kudos to Clea Duvall and Jason O'Mara for great guest-spot performances.

• Um, are Callie and Erica dating?

Smallville
• Unfortunately, Smallville has to wait for the weekend.

Ok, gotta run. The boss keeps mentioning something called a "deadline." What kind of nonsense is that? ;)

Rod!!!

Supernatural was fun last night, huh? That two months has me very worried. Happily, I'm staying spoiler free, so I can take a smaller dose of the anxiety meds. Maybe Cindy should start pumping happy gas into the sanitarium?

WOAT I am so glad that human trafficking storyline is done! I was really getting annoyed with Jack.

Morning Rod!

LOST - This was an amazing episode. I too think Michael Emerson is awesome. He is so good at playing Ben. I hate Ben, but he's one of those you love to hate because Emerson is just so good.

I also really loved Sawyer protecting Hurley. I loved the way his character has evolved and he's starting to show his less selfish side. I love Sawyer.

Supernatural - I think I would have liked this episode a lot more if we weren't down to only 4 more episodes. If this had been a normal season and this was a typical episode 13 I probably would have loved it as well. But since we only have 4 episodes (3 now) and Dean only has 2 months I was expecting more of a focus on the brothers and saving Dean.

That aside I really did enjoy the Ghostfacers. I loved Harry and Ed the first time around, so I did enjoy seeing them again. I too hope they pop up again in the future.

I think one of the fun things about this episode was getting to see more of the "real" Dean. We all know that in the real world someone like Dean would probably swear a lot more than they are able to show on cable television. The censoring was really amusing and I loved the blurred image of Dean flipping off the camera.

Next week's episode looks amazing. The preview literally gave me chills I can't wait.

Hi Rod,

Thanks for taking the time for a blog. Bosses can be such a pain--I'm so glad I'm done with that.

Lost - I agree with you on Michael Emerson. He ran the gamut of emotions last night. Emmy-worthy indeed!

Supernatural - "It's My Party and I'll Cry if I Want To" I remember when that song was a hit record. Poor Sam, he did look tortured with that party hat on, didn't he.:^O
Ugly Betty - I'm with you all the way on Betty/Henry/Gio. I am beyond frustrated with that storyline. Please, just wrap it up and be done with it one way or another. This is why I stopped watching Friends. I just don't have the patience.X-(
I've still got three hours left over to watch. Thursday's are a killer!:(

• RIP, Alex. My jaw hit the ground when Kemme (sp?) pulled the trigger. I'm not sure who was more shocked: Ben or me.

I'm so pissed! I kept on hoping she wasnt shot, but theres no way she could have survived that shot....I'm still hoping Rousseau is alive...

• Sawyer's protectiveness of Hurley was such an awwwww moment. I loved it.

Me too! Think of how far Sawyer has come...also trying to save Claire! thank god she survived!

I also loved that Bernard got some more moments to shine last night. He is such a closet-bad-ass, and he proved his worth once again last night.

Me too! I hate that Bernard doesn't get so much screentime and love it when the writers show his true worth and when his skills (like shooting!) are revealed!

Next week's episode looks amazing! I tihnk the pilot will be turning side!

I felt so bad for Sayid after finding his wife and Widmore just killed her...when Ben smiled (after Sayid joined his 'team') I got the feeling that Ben killed his wife to get Sayid to join....?!?!

I am very intersested to why Ben cant kill Widmore...also was the Dharma people Widmore's people--it seems like it, right?

I also like the island reuniting...it was a little confusing/annoying to have over three storylines in one episode (flashfoward, present group 1, present group 2)

This episode was amazing! I loved the intense action scene between the Widmore group VS Ben...and the smoke monster was awesome: it seems to be controlled by Ben as to where it goes but not as to whom it attacks...I also like this episode because everyone was in it, basically...no matter how small role or time period we got to see practically everyone!

Hi Rod!!!

Dean has less than two months to live? I'm worried. I'm very worried. Especially given the pretty-revealing spoiler by Kristen at E! a few days ago.

Did you have to mention that??? I'm trying to stay spoiler free...and now I'm really worried.

*takes deep breaths*

It'll be ok, it'll be ok...

Hey Rod -

Wasn't Lost Awe inspiring! I agree about Michael Emerson. He deserves an Emmy. And I got teary eyed at Sawyer. He loves you, Hurley!

Supernatural - unique and out of the box! I loved this episode and people who don't watch this show are too wedged into ordinary if you ask me.

30 Rock - not many people have mentioned the tribute to Amadeus with Tracy in this show. Is that movie too dated for people to remember? I just can't believe how this show has hit it's stride and doesn't let up. When Liz found Geist and her reaction was her typical "Blerg!" I just died laughing.

Did he call him Hugo at some point or was it just me?

Hi Rod, Happy Friday and congrats on the red star.

I loved this episode of Supernatural too. It totally rocked. From the bleeped language to Dean giving the camera the finger, it was priceless.

Grand Funk Railroad's We're An American Band was great.

I hope the Ghostfacers will be back too! It was great seeing Ed and Harry again and meeting all the new characters. Maybe we'll seeing Corbett again too.:)

Ok, gotta run. The boss keeps mentioning something called a "deadline." What kind of nonsense is that? ;)

Must've been talking to my boss.

I didn't really get a chance to watch a full episode of anything last night (just 10 minutes here and there) so I have to catch up this weekend. And yet, like my inability to stay away from the site when I have deadlines (yes, plural) looming, I was unable to stay away from that rarest of rare things, a Rodyssey's Odyssey blog. And I got Alex's death spoiled for me for my trouble! D'oh!! (And it's totally my fault. I saw the dangerous "spoiler warning" and I proceeded without caution regardless.)

This is a cautionary tale kids of what happens when you're checking blogs when you're supposed to be working!

Hi Rod! I had only one predominant thought on the interaction between Sayid and Ben in October 2005. And that is that I have doubts that the man Ben said killed Nadia actually killed Nadia. Ben, ever the manipulator, may have **gasp** lied to Sayid to help him further his scheme against Widmore.

But that may be just me.

Good weekend all!

Hey Rod, Thursdays are all kinds of incredible. I had to skip past your lost comments, haven't seen the ep yet but I wish they'd parcel this stuff out so it's not on all at once! :)

Hey Rod! Red star!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Supernatural was AWESOME!!! Not really enough SamnDean, but I'll live! I love Ed's dad opening the garage door & knocking over his strategy board. Did you see the GhostFacers page over at the CW? There's a clip over there from "behind the scenes" where Ed's talking to the camera & his dad is mowing the lawn behind him. Ed goes nuts...it's hilarious!

Sam wearing the hat almost broke me!

I didn't get a chance to watch my recording of WaT yet, so I'll wait to read that part of your blog.

Hi Rod! I haven't watched Betty or Grey's yet, so I'll have to come back and read your thoughts on those later.

The "best couple" voting, with Pam and Jim losing, was very funny, as was Pam saying, "Phyllis!," but my favorite Office moment of the week was Toby's embarrassed freakout and scaling of the fence. I'm just glad he made it; can you imagine how bad it would have been if he'd had to go back inside with the others?!

Cindy--I understood the Amadeus parallels and thought they were great. I laughed hysterically at Spaceman running in the cape, and Frank's frustration at losing his lifelong dream of videogame porn to Tracy's brilliance. I also admit to laughing everytime anyone says, "Blerg" and I've been working it into my own vocabulary. :)

HI ROD!!!!!!

I was so happy to see a blog from you today!

Of the shows you watch, I watch only Supernatural and Lost. So...

Lost: I agree with every one of your points! And I have to add that I've seen it spelled "Keamy", I think! And I loved not only that Sawyer was protective of Hurley (and I think Hurley looked a little teary-eyed at that moment!) but also how protective he was of Claire. He was so determined to get to her, find her, get her to safety. And then when she was awake his "you okay, sweetheart"...it was so SWEET! Is it possible to love Sawyer more?! :)

Supernatural: I freakin' loved this epi! I agree with all of your points except two: one, the birthday party since I didn't get to see that part (long story but when it came back from commercial break after Sam disappeared, Smallville came on! Our show came back eventually.) And two, the spoiler from Kristen since I don't pay attention to her and if it's a huge spoiler, I don't want to know. I don't mind little things like plots of epis, guest stars and such but I don't want major plot points revealed. And I think (we all know Cindy is the Queen of Quotes!) went "you have to be gay to save that dead intern". Shoot - I think I have it wrong too! But I just died at that line!

I'll stop babbling now - suffice it to say it was an enjoyable TV experience on both counts!
