Why Doesn't Jensen Ackles Have an Emmy Yet??
Jensen Ackles in Supernatural (like you didn't know that already!)
All right, seriously folks. All man-crushes aside (whether they be real, fake, or real but pretending to be fake!), how in the hell doesn't Jensen Ackles have a whole shelf full of emmys yet? Did you see last night's ep? Holy crap! Dream a Little Dream of Me was frakkin' awesome, as was Jensen's performance. The fact that this guy isn't recognized for his work on the show is criminal. (Ditto Kyle Chandler on Friday Night Lights, but that's another can of worms for another blog.)
Even the Sam-girls have to agree with me on this one given last night's ep, no?
Here's some other quick reactions to the episode before I crash for the night and then get held hostage in work meetings all of tomorrow morning...
• I almost spit out my drink when Mama Cass started playing in Dean's dream.
• Having Lisa (Ben's mom) pop up in Dean's dream was a clever touch.
• Dean's blow-up at the DreamDemonDean was simply awesome.
• Loved getting Bobby's backstory, but how sad was it that he killed his wife before he knew how to exorcise demons.
• Kudos for the show being set in Pittsburgh last night!
• For the record, I'm still on board Bandwagon Bela. However, what was up with Sam having a wetdream about her? Was I the only who found that weird? When did Sam become attracted to Bela -- the chick who shot him!!??
• Finally, if any of my fellow SnObs or blog buddies out there are sitting on Nielsen boxes, please, please, please watch Friday Night Lights tonight. For me (and for the good of television and for the good of America!). It desperately needs ratings tonight.

You forgot to mention that Bela stole the colt!
No, you weren't the only person who was thrown by that dream. Pretty much everyone has done a 'huh?' I started laughing at it.
As for Jensen not getting an emmy...it's like they think he's too good looking so they won't bother.

Hey Rod! Good to see your thoughts on the show.
Why dosn't Jensen have an Emmy? Beats the heck out of me. How do you act against yourself so brilliantly?
Sam and Bella.... Well there was that throw away line in Red Sky at Morning. She's got style. And I guess Sam does have a thing for the bad chicks... Meg, Madison why not Bella too.

Rod,
See Lacey's blog for an interesting take on Sam's dream about Bella.
Thanks D! I like your logic.

Hi Rod,
I just finished watching my recording of Lost after watching Supernatural "live." Man, I hate ABC for doing this to me--it's too hard on my nerves.
We all know why Jensen doesn't have an Emmy--because Supernatural is on a crap channel that doesn't promote the show, and the people who vote don't watch it. In a just world, the scene between Dean and Demon Dean alone would be enough to get Jensen nominated.
I was thrown by Sam's dream about Bela too--huh??? But then what do I know about the male libido?
So, Bela had an ulterior motive for helping the boys after all--she stole the Colt. I'm shocked--SHOCKED!!
This was one hell of a kick-ass episode. Kirpke & Co., you did it again.

Glad you liked my notion Marci. I've got to rewatch the episode, because there's more and I need to be sure before I write more.
Rod, it's not in the main part of the entry but at the bottom of the page in the comments.

First off... please fellow SnObs! Even if you don't have Nielsen boxes, watch Friday Night Lights tonight!
I thought Sam's wet dream (heh) was hilarious, but yeah it did come out of nowhere. Especially since the preseason fears were that it was going to end up being Sam & Ruby and Dean & Bela doing Tree Hill or Orange County.
I totally agree about the Emmys. While it is highly unlikely that Jensen nor Jared will be recognized, it doesn't mean they don't deserve it. Jensen was awesome this episode.
And nice to see your fake man crush is alive and well

Rod:
I couldn't agree with you more. Jensen Ackles ought to have a whole room of nothing but acting awards, especially an Emmy. The man is simply amazing; when he is onscreen, especially in a heavy emotional scene like the one you mentioned, I cannot take my eyes off of him. (Yes, this from a Sam girl.)
I really loved this episode. I haven't had the opportunity to rewatch yet, but when I do, I'm sure there will be multiple viewings!

Hi Rod,
it is so good to have your reviews as a different perspective. God only knows why Jensen hasn't even gotten nominated yet alone won. He is wonderful, but sadly, on an under-noticed, under-appreciated show. His time will come. Glad you enjoyed the episode. I won't get to see it for 3 Mondays away here in OZ but I am totally ruined with spoilers in a general sense.
Oops. Just fixed a typo after coming home now (Friday night) and had 2 bottles of wine, pizza, bread and dip with a friend.

Not much I can add regarding SN -- most have already covered it...but let me jump on the wagon for FNL! Please don't let tonight be the last...

Oh! We can at least say "Three-time Emmy nominated Jensen Ackles"

He did get three Emmy noms for Days of our Lives.

Hey Rod!
Why doesn't Jensen Ackles have an emmy yet?
I don't know. He moves me like no actor ever has. I'm with Lainey, though, his time will come-talent such as his won't be denied. Loved, loved, loved the ep! Thanks for the great post. We usually tape FNL, but I will be home tonight, so a beer and FNL real time, it is!

Hi Rod! You've got some really good points, thanks for sharing.
It would be nice to see Jensen, Jared and the show get the recognition that they deserve!

Morning Rod! Yay, Pittsburgh! I thought of you immediately!
For the record, I'm still on board Bandwagon Bela. However, what was up with Sam having a wetdream about her? Was I the only who found that weird? When did Sam become attracted to Bela -- the chick who shot him!!??
I think this is confusing everybody! I thought it was a pretty funny scene, but really made no sense. Sam hadn't even taken the dreamroot yet!
Dean vs Dean was excellent! It just breaks my heart that Dean really has so little sense of his own value. As a person, not just as Daddy's little soldier. I am so glad that he finally admitted to Sam (& to himself) that he wants to live!
Bobby...oh Bobby! In the dream, when Dean tells him "You're like a father to me!"?!?!?!?!?! Full on waterworks at my house. What a nice dovetail scene to Bobby & Dean in the junkyard in AHBL2. Me thinks that Dean is getting a little better with this chick-flick stuff!
I can't believe that beyotch (who SHOT SAM!) stole the frickin' Colt!!! Makes me worry about WHO she stole it for. Herself? Some random client? The New&Improved Big!Bad! rising in the West?!?!?!?!

Hi Rod: Completely agree. That boy deserves an Emmy.
Marci: In a just world, the scene between Dean and Demon Dean alone would be enough to get Jensen nominated.
I hope that is the scene that is submitted to the Emmy's for consideration next year.
