Dancing With the Stars: The Final Four

featuredpost.jpg
I’m not trying to be a killjoy. Maybe I’m just suffering from Reality Overkill. But I have to be honest. I’m bored with this show.

I don’t really care who wins. Oh, I think Kristi deserves to win and I love Jason and Edyta so I’d liked to see them win as well. But I like Marissa too and Cristian and honestly, which of the four gets the Tacky Mirror Ball Trophy just doesn’t matter.

I’m having the same problem with American Idol. It’s some sort of malaise. I’m enjoying the shows, but not with the same fervor as normal. As much as I want David Cook to win AI, I’m not going to be devastated if he doesn’t because he’s going to be a star no matter what…and I like all three finalists.

Now Hell’s Kitchen is another topic. I get quite fired up about that.

So I’m actually looking forward to Dancing coming to an end. Like American Idol, they might want to look into changing things up a bit next season…or maybe keeping it to one season a year so that it doesn’t get old.

***

Last night the dances were decided by a random draw from a hat.

1. Jason & Edyta: Foxtrot

This was a fantastic routine. Edyta outdid herself with the choreography. Jason is amazingly elegant considering that he is a HUGE man! I’d hate to see him on the football field coming at me!

The Trio of Annoyance loved the routine. Len told Jason he glided like a dolphin across the floor. Bruno praised Jason’s showmanship. Carrie Ann said it was beautiful.

Scores: (in order of Carrie Ann, Len & Bruno) 9-10-9

(Edyta screamed with delight when she saw a 10 from Len!)

***

2. Marissa & Tony: Quick Step

I didn’t like the start of this routine, but the rest looked okay. I wasn’t blown away, but it was okay.

Bruno saw a missed step in the routine. Carrie Ann thought they did a great job. Len took the difficulty of the dance into account and called them on a little lack of body contact at times.

Scores: 9-9-8
***

3. Christian & Cheryl: Viennese Waltz

I thought this was a great performance and I don’t like Viennese Waltz but I was very distracted by Cheryl’s outfit which was very silver and very shiny! Tom Bergeron referred to it as a weather balloon.

The judges all liked the routine.

Scores: 9-9-9

***

4. Kristi & Mark: Tango

Kristi was definitely back last night. Her tango was hot and she looked amazing.

Len felt it was a bit hectic but he liked it. This sent Bruno into hysterics who LOVED the routine. Carrie Ann also loved it.

Scores: 10-9-10

***

There was a cute bit between the two halves of the show where Len went to help each team and show the dancers a new step that had to be incorporated into their last dance. I know he can be grumpy but Len seems like a really nice guy.

***

1. Jason & Edyta: Paso Doble

This was an amazing routine, my favorite of the night.

The Trio of Annoyance was pleased.

Scores: 9-9-9

***

2. Marissa & Tony: Rhumba

It’s time for Marissa to go home now. Her first dance was okay, this one was flat boring. She just isn’t up to the others but I love her and she’s made it this far which is amazing.

Carrie Ann didn’t like it and said it wasn’t good enough for a semi final. Len thought it was very good, pointing out what a hard dance it was. Bruno agreed but Carrie Ann started yelling at the guys that it wasn’t a semi final performance.

Scores: 8-9-9

***

3. Cristian & Cheryl: Samba

It was official with this dance. Cheryl got stuck with the ugliest outfits of the night. This black outfit with yellow flowers and blue ruffle was just hideous! Again, I loved the dance. I think having to choreograph around Christian’s injured arm has really jazzed up their routines.

Len said it was hotter than a chili pepper but said it was a little flat footed in places. Bruno said it was exciting and fun. Carrie Ann compared Cristian to Emmit Smith.

Scores: 10-9-10

***

4. Kristi & Mark: Jive

I didn’t like this as much as the one they did for 30 points earlier in the season but it was fast and looked difficult.

Bruno loved it. Carrie Ann loved the difficulty of the choreography but felt they were out of sync. Len thought it was a bit stiff in places but also loved the difficulty.

Scores: 9-9-10

***

Who will go home? Unless her fan base is bigger than Cristian’s I think Marissa will go home tonight.

I agree Vicki hope you are doing better and enjoyed the wedding this weekend. I think it is Marissa's time to go too . I also really don't care you wins I just want to see Edtya keep dancing so I want Jason in the finals.
Yes Cheryl's costume were weird last night as usual I thought Edtya looked great espeically in the Paso Doble.
Kristi should win but it really doesn't matter what the show did was give as usual exposure to all the contestents. This gives Jason plenty of face time for a career in TV after Football.
How many people even knew who Cristian & Marissa were except in Marissa's case Broadway followers and in Cristian people who watch latin Novelas. So they can all use this show to further there careers like Stacy,Joey Fatone,Lisa Rinna etc.I will DVR tonight and fast forward through to the elimination.

I agree Vickie Jean. Think I'm just getting tired of it, and this time I hope Marissa does go home. I love her, too, her spunk, her presonality, her showmanship, and I'm so glad she made it to the finals, BUT I don't think she's in everyone else's league so if she makes it tonight at someone else's expense it'll be rough and unfair.

I think Christian is doing a FANTASTIC job - so much better with one arm than with two - and oh the tension when they dance worrying that something is going to snap. I mean I really DO, and that makes the results extra whamo for me.

Kristi? Think SHE should be the winner, she's been fantastic all along, but lots of people aren't voting for her because they feel she's got it in the bag so ANYTHING can happen.

Jason is #3 for me. He's doing a GREAT job but I just don't feel it because he's just TOO BIG. I'm amazed at his grace, and he is SO charming, but I'd be surprised if he won.

A bit concerned about tonight, because strange things sometimes happen, but it took 20 minutes to get thru on the phone for Kristi so hope that's a good sign.

Whoever is voted off, whoever (whomever?) remains, well I'm looking forward to it being OVER.

Have you figured out how to fix the link for the wedding photos? Or is it on our end we can't pink it up??

VickieJean my angel.....let's talk about Samantha's dress, shall we. Thought we were going to have a Janet Jackson moment. She IS a very beautiful woman.....but her VOICE DRIVES ME NUTS!! Cleavage is one thing....this was something else altogether.....it's a ratings thing I guess.

12 STEP PROGRAM

Marissa needed to have stepped it up.
Probably going home.

Jason missed a step here and there.
Probably staying.

Kristi is a step ahead of everyone.
Definitely staying.

Christian stepped all over the competition. Staying.

Have a wondrous and golden day.

Pink it up? Pick of course was what I meant. Tired this morning & semi brain-dead. Also wanted to say I thought Jason's paso doble was HOT, and it was MY favorite of the night, too. Had problems last night thinking, do I vote for whomever did the best dance TONIGHT, or for the one I've liked all along?? Latter won out.

Hi Vickie! I really do want Kristi to win, even though I'm really enjoying Jason and Cristian. Marissa is a sweetheart, but as you said she needs to go home now. She's just not on the same level as the others and it's showing more and more.

Since there is a very skilled and deserving woman competing this time, it's time for a woman to take that ugly trophy home!:-D

I love Marissa and how much she has improved, but that 2nd dance of hers was boring. I'm just not as impressed with Jason as a lot of people seem to be. His waltz was alright, but every time I was him dance it just seems 'clunky' to me. I've seen other guys (whose names are escaping me at the moment) that are big and tall move a lot more gracefully, and 'glide' across the floor. With Jason I somehow get the impression that he is trying to wade through mud and concrete and has to drag his legs along.
Loved Kristi's first dance, but wasn't as impressed with the jive as I was their first jive. Still a great dance though! But that huge clump of hair stuck to her mouth was really distracting! :)

Hey Dorjean
FYI on the wedding pic link... in the post that it was in, Ranger posted a fixed link in the comments section and I was able to see them through it.

Beautiful wedding Vickie! Thanks for sharing!
Were you in any of those pics, or were you the photographer?

Hi Vickie Jean:

I just wanted to say I pray that everything goes well with your staples being removed today. I hope that it isn't too painful. Also, thank you very much for sharing your son and daughter-in-law's wedding photos with us. They are a gorgeous couple. It's a blessing that your church shared their special day with them. That cake looked yummy!

I think that because Kristi has been the one to beat, that most of us feel like she should just win the ugly trophy. It seems like we're just going through the motions until the season finale.

Marissa has done better than I thought that she would, but I also feel that it's time for her to go. Her second dance with Tony was uncomfortable to watch. She seems like aa lovely person. I've read that she's expecting a child, via surrogacy.

I'll be taping tonight's results show, because I love watching HK live. As for AI, as you stated, David Cook should win. But, regardless of the results, anyone who's had exposure on AI has an opportunity at attaining a successful career.

For those who love Survivor, I just watched a video of Parvati after her million dollar win. She stated that she actually did find the Hidden Immunity Idol when she was sent to Exile Island. She accidently stumbled on the 4th clue that lead her to finding it. She decided that it would hurt her chances if she brought it back to camp, so she left it on Exile Island. She said that she had washed her hair and was tanning, so the only reason why she looked for it in the first place was because she was bored. She also hinted that she "threw" the last challenge, because she figured out that either Cirie or Amanda would take her to the Final Two, because Parvati knew that she was despised. She also stated that Ozzy's statement to her was edited. Ozzy had asked her to do an interpretive dance that signified their lost friendship over money. She said it was pretty wacky. I'm actually contemplating buying this season's DVD when it's released.

Take care, Vickie Jean. Get plenty of rest and take it easy. We love you dearly. :)

Hi nyjoey, Thanks! I'm doing great. STaples all gone this morning and I just need to take it easy another week or two the doc said. The wedding was fantastic and I was able to really enjoy it. I'm with you about tonight. There will be serious FFwarding to see who gets ousted. I've got Hell's Kitchen to watch! And Idol. :)

Hi Dorjean, It's nice to see I'm not the only one who's a bit fatigued. The voting on this show can be a bit scary but I still really expect Kristi to win. I'm so sorry about the wedding link. I just didn't do it right HOWEVER if you go to my blog from yesterday on Dancing, toward the end, Ranger put it up the right way in his comment. Hopefully that will work for ya!

Hi Auntie, Yes, the hubby noticed Sam's...assets...last night. Interesting dress! LOL! I think you're right in your predictions...I hope!

Hi Coug, And that's the thing, isn't it? It's so much harder for the women on this show and Kristi is definitely doing the work required. I want to see a lady with that trophy too!

Hi Shel, I wasn't overly happy with Kristi's second dance either but it's not her. I think it's me. I'm just tired of the show or something. Of course, it was going to be hard to live up to their original jive and the 30 they got and deserved for it.

As for the wedding, I took those pictures. When my sister puts up the official ones I'll get Ranger to help me put up a link and then you can see me too! The lady with the short blonde hair is my sister and that's her hubby and my two nephews. All the other family in the shots are from my new in-laws, fantastic people! :)

Hi Lady! Thank you so much! There were a lot of people there but it was just so sweet, short and simple. It was lovely. The doctor had 5 of my staples out before I realized he was taking them out! LOL! A couple of them stung a little but the rest I barely felt. So not I just have a bunch of tape on me. :)

Yeah, I'll be taping DWTS too because I HAVE to watch HK live. I just have to. It's a sickness! Wow! They should have left that stuff in the show! I would have love to have seen an interpretive dance! It does sound wacky! I wouldn't mind having this season on DVD too if there are a lot of extras. I bet this season was fascinating off camera. I am resting and taking it easy! Thanks and love ya too!

Vickie Jean - Congrat's on another Red Star. I'm glad the removal of the staples went well and that you are doing fine.

I normally agree with your opinion on the dances but I really hated Jason's Paso last night. He reminded me of Lurch from the Addams Family. The Paso is my favorite dance so maybe that's part of the problem. He had one expression and seemed to be clopping around the floor.

As much as I admire Marissa, it is time for her to go home. I am surprised to find myself hoping that Christian wins. I love Kristi, but she has been good since the beginning where Christian has gotten better and better. And the surprising thing is that it happened after the arm injury.

I'm looking forward to seeing the wedding pictures, so thanks, Ranger, for correcting the link. I found it after I got to work this morning so I will check it out when I get home.

Hey Vickie Jean I read your column all the time but I usually don't have time to comment until...

I agree with your general assessment of the dances. I didn't like Jason's paso as much as you did, but his foxtrot and Kristi's tango were my favorite dances of the night.

"I am surprised to find myself hoping that Christian wins"
Totally agree reality junkie. I was rooting for Kristi in the beginning and still vote for her, but I've been getting more excited by Cristian's performances and find myself rooting for him too.

Can't wait for Hell's Kitchen tonight. I actually just started a summer TV blog and I'm going to include HK in it so feel free to drop by tomorrow and leave me a comment if you wish. Just look for "mel31602's blog".

Hey Reality, Thanks! No probs and you aren't the only one. I really did like it but the hubby didn't care for it either, nor did some of the other commentors. I like Cristian more every week. He really improved during the season and especially after his injury! Hope you can see the pics and thanks again Ranger!

Hi MEL, Welcome! I'm glad you took time to comment. I know there isn't time sometimes so I'm glad you join us to read the blogs. Yeah, I seem to be in a growing minority who liked the Paso. My hubby didn't like it much either. I'm excited about HK tonight! Congrats on the blog! I will drop by. :)

Looking forward to Hell's Kitchen tonight and will watch that and tape DWTS.
