Supernatural: Kripke interview with TV.com

Well...it feels like it has been forever that I've posted a blog here. I'm not really sure if this is "new" to anyone else, but I found this interview this morning and thought it would be the perfect excuse for a new blog! Hee hee!

Anyway, here's TV.com's interview with Kripke...

Let me know what you think...

Hey there Ocean --

Thanks much for the link. I think my favorite quote from him is when he is describing the fans; "...fans are a protective and occasionally nervous bunch..."

I was very interesting in what he had to say about Red Sky At Morning. I sometimes wonder if I am off in my criticism of the that episode...glad to know that even the creator wasn't too keen on it.

Thanks for the link, Ocean! One of my favorite parts was:

TV.com: Regarding the "Mary's Dead Friends" storyline, one user specifically wants to know what happened with that. It seems to have been dropped.

Eric Kripke: No. It's definitely coming back. It's a big reveal--it happens later on, but I'm not going to say when. We just introduced it to let the fans and let the audience know that it is alive, and it is out there, and it is a concern, and we wanted to reference it. But no, the answer is coming down the line.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's too bad that this is the season he was most looking forward to, only to have it cut off by the writer's strike. I love the interviews he gives!

Thanks for the link, Ocean!

I was surprised that Eric wasn't a big fan of the Roadhouse. Despite what fans thought about Jo, there was pretty universal love for Ash and Ellen, wasn't there?

Rod -- I was a bit surprised about his comments on the Roadhouse as well. But it explains why Harvelle's was taken out with extreme prejudice last season.

I admit that I wasn't a huge fan of the roadhouse itself (mainly because I couldn't see logistically how the the boys would be able to consistently find their way back to middle America in a timely manner each time the roadhouse played a part) but I was and still am a fan of Ellen.

ocean - thanks - I feel like it's been so long since we had some good scoopage from Kripke or from anybody for that matter. It's like the whole world's shut down or something, which is kind of what's happened to the crew of Supernatural, I suppose.

Hi, Ocean! I just wanted to add my thanks, as well, since I had not seen the interview. I chuckled over the fact that EK wasn't partial to the Roadhouse storyline or the "Bella show" from this season. I couldn't agree more although I would like to see Ellen on at least a few more episodes.

I'm glad to hear that we have a lot more surprises ahead of us! Now, if somebody could only light a fire under those folks at the CW so they'll give us some news... :O

Hi Ocean,

Thanks for the link. I don't have time to read it now, so I e-mailed it to myself. What a handy device that is, eh?

Thanks for the interview, Ocean! I for one am relieved to see a post-strike Kripke interview and I think what he said about the strike is what we're all thinking - "It sucks out loud!" But I was heartened by the things he said as well, from the way he talked it didn't sound like the strike annihilated any part of the future SN storyline...just put it on hold for a while. That's a relief. And I loved the parts where he praised Jared and Jensen and addressed fan concerns...it's so rare and awesome that you see a show creator who is that in touch with and aware of his main actors and fans.

I too was pretty surprised that he has regrets about the Roadhouse, I remember there was a major sense of wariness at first, but over time I thought Ellen and Ash came to be accepted and pretty much well-liked. I was sad to see Ash die and I welcome the return of Ellen when it happens. Of course Jo didn't work out, but that was only b/c they tried to force an unlikely romance b/t her and Dean and gave us too big a dose of her in No Exit. Amd it was interesting to read his thoughts on RSaM, which I guess could be the No Exit of S3 if you think about it, only with Bela instead of Jo. I liked RSaM fine, better than I did No Exit b/c in that one I felt like Sam was exchanged for Jo, and that's never gonna be a good trade, LOL. But I can definitely see where Kripke is coming from with RSaM and too much Bela in too little time.

But that said, I LOVED the part where he assured us that the show was about the boys and that's that. I don't have a problem with Ruby and I can tolerate Bela, but only as long they're given to us in small doses, so I don't think Kripke could've said it better when he said SN would never become the Ruby and Bela show or have the boys and the two girls cruising around in the Impala together.

The show is about Sam and Dean. They are the two leads. It'll never be about anything else. It'll always be about the two of them, the issues they're going through, and then, first and foremost, their relationship with each other.

I think that pretty much says it all. Awesome interview, Kripke! :^O

Thanks Ocean...I wondered about the crew as well. We need our own picket lines...and lead our own strike...Negotiate now! End it now! Then when we're done...we can go out and manage World Peace...or is it that World Peace would be easier to achieve....hmm....

Thanks so much for this, Ocean! Kripke always gives a great interview. I really loved what Bob Singer said about showrunners-he is such a man, isn't he-loved that and love that he brings that to the show!
Also loved what EK said about our guys and what they bring to their roles-beautifully stated and right on!
Awesome interview! Thanks again for posting it for us-YOU ROCK, GIRL!!:)

Wow! Work sidetracked me for awhile but now I'm back and look at all the great comments!

Thanks to everyone for stopping by!!!

CA!! It's good to "see" you!!! I love how Kripke understands how us fans are and accepts it. Hee hee! I also wasn't a big fan of RSaM for the same reason he said - that it became focused on Bela. It's so refreshing to have him openly admit to things that he didn't like how they turned out.

Rap: Hey there! You're welcome for the link! I figured that we would eventually find more out about the Dead Friends...hopefully The Reveal is in the remaining episodes!!!!!

Hi Pixie! Thanks for stopping by! Kripke rocks, doesn't he?!?!?!!!

Gaby! I see you were able to play for a little bit today, huh? ;) You know, I've heard him saying many times how this is the season he has been looking foward to, but never thought about how disappointing it must be for him to not be able to do all 22 episodes because of the strike. It makes me sad for him.

Rod: I remember Kripke saying that he didn't like how the Roadhouse turned out on screen - it became this place where all the hunters were sitting around, cleaning guns and he didn't think it was true to the story of 2 guys out on the road, hunting things. I think he said that in one of the commentaries. I agree - Ellen and Ash were universally accepted.

Hoggle: I know what you mean - it feels like forever since any word from the Kripke. Doesn't he know that we are very needy fans that require constant attention?!??!? ;)

Tai: You're welcome! I'd like to light a fire under everyone to get the strike resolved!!!

Whimsy-poo: You're welcome!!!:-x

Hi Marci! You're welcome!!! LOL - I do that all the time too!

Kitty: from the way he talked it didn't sound like the strike annihilated any part of the future SN storyline...just put it on hold for a while. That's a relief

I totally agree! I got the same feeling, that they still have their plans for this season and that *crosses fingers* they will some day be able to tell their whole story.

I too was pretty surprised that he has regrets about the Roadhouse

I'm surprised by how many people are surprised by this!! I swear he commented on it in one of the commentaries...are am I just imagining that? I'll have to do a little research tonight.

RSaM, which I guess could be the No Exit of S3 if you think about it, only with

OMG - I hadn't thought about RSaM in that way but you are completely right!!!! You hit the nail on the head with that assessment. I was willing to give Bela a shot, until that episode. Now, I just want them to get rid of her.
