Quick Thoughts - My Summertime TV viewing

I haven't been around here much lately. Too busy at work. Yes, unfortunately some of us have to work during the Summer. :-p
Summertime TV has been pretty good to me so far. Friday nights have become TV on DVD nights. I'm currently into Season 2 of The 4400 and will be moving on to Season 3 soon. I think next I'll go back to Supernatural's first season next, or maybe Friday Night Lights.

I've reconnected with one of my all time favorite Sci-Fi shows, The X-Files, via the SciFi Channel. For those Supernatural fans out there, Dean really is Mulder and Sam really is Scully. ;)
ABC is airing repeats of Eli Stone every Saturday night. If you missed this wonderful show the first time around, now is your chance to catch it again. The Season One DVD set is set be released on September 2nd.

For the moment my suspects to be The Mole are either Clay or Alex. Nicole is trying to hard to make people think she is the Mole. Paul talks too much. Mark is being way too paranoid, and I don't think Craig is the Mole. Of course, I could be wrong about everything I've just said. I've been following the clues that come up on The Mole widget that is on my blog but I can't make heads or tails of any of it. I think I need a Mole decoder ring.

I've been overdosing on Jon & Kate + 8 on TLC, Dirty Jobs w/Mike Rowe, Deadliest Catch and the Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel. There is a What Not To Wear has a marathon on the 4th.

Over in Hell's Kitchen it's almost time for Chef Ramsey to choose a winner. I was very happy Petroza won the last challenge, he could use all the help he can get. I wasn't very happy seeing bitter sour grapes Jen come back though. I know that she didn't come back to help anybody win but herself, she even said that to camera. Petrozza had a tough decision picking between her and Matt. I'm not sure who I would pick either. From the previews they showed of next week, I think he picked Jen. Good luck to the both of them. I think Christina might take it, but I always root for the underdog. I like both of them and I think they'll make great chefs wherever then end up after this is over.

Now on to the other reality competition shows:

This is my first time around for Design Star on HGTV. It's interesting how the judges judge the rooms via the television instead of seeing it in person. Since the winner gets their own TV show that only makes sense to me.

The Singing Office was alright. It's great to see regular folk come out of their comfort zone and perform on stage. Actually learning choreography to boot. The only judges on this show is the audience. But, if the audience is filled with fellow employees and family members of the ones on stage, then the winner is most likely determined by how many people each office has in the audience right?

The Next Food Network Star is going nicely. The potential stars will be on the Rachael Ray show tomorrow (Thursday, July 3rd) to show their stuff. My favorites are Shane and Aaron. Kelsey is starting to grow me. Lisa is very knowledgeable about food and how to market products. They are both strong contenders as well. I vote for Chef Michael Symon being the host of the show next time around. He's very personable and did a great job as guest judge.

Wipeout and I Survived A Japanese Game Show I like Japanese game show a little better than I do Wipeout.

America's Got Talent is one of the best talent shows out there. Jerry Springer makes a great host. David, Sharon and Piers are good judges too. I'm looking forward to the Las Vegas shows since there are so many more great acts that we, the viewing public, have not seen yet. The judges have a tough job on their hands choosing the finalists.

Returning shows on cable this month:

Burn Notice begins next week Thursday July 10th, followed by The Closer and Saving Grace on Monday July 14th, Project Runway on Wednesday the 16th, and Monk and Psych on the 18th. After hearing so many good things about it from fellow bloggers, I'm also giving Mad Men a try this season, it starts on Sunday July 27th.

The Olympics begin on 8/8/08. America has lots of athletic talent as well.

It's shaping up to be a pretty good next couple of months until the new Fall TV season begins again. I'm crossing my fingers that the actors don't go on strike next.

Wow, this blog is really long isn't it? Considering my last blog was about a month ago, I guess I'm playing catch up.

Have a great Summer doing whatever you do. Have fun and be safe.

Aloha!:)

Aloha hoapili! I'm too tired to write much more but thanks for all the summer premiere dates! I had to finally turn Jon and Kate off--that show and What Not to Wear are the only shows of that type that I watch and I tend to overdose on the marathons! Those kids are growing up fast aren't they?

Whoo! Only a week until Burn Notice and I'll be off on the day Psych premieres! Yeay!

Oh, yeah.

I'm ready for Burn Notice, Psych, The Closer and Eureka.

And I'm revisiting Veronica Mars and Supernatural (okay, probably the 10th time to revisit SN, but it works for me). I loaned my first season of FNL out, so I can't watch that one unless I go out and rebuy the first season.

darnit

Hi Lynn,

None of my summer shows have returned yet, although I'm enjoying a couple of new ones: In Plain Sight on Sunday nights and Middleman on Monday nights. The shows I'm still waiting for are Burn Notice, Psych, The Closer and Mad Men.

I'm glad you're trying out Mad Men. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Hi Marci, I'm still trying to get use to The Middleman, they switched times on me the other night and I taped the wrong channel!! I'll catch it online somewhere I guess. I like In Plain Sight too. That is one of those tape it and watch it later shows because it's on at 10pm. The same with Burn Notice and Psych.

Folks, this is what I mean by what I said about Jen from HK in my blog (I know that she didn't come back to help anybody win but herself, she even said that to camera) - check this out

OMG!!

Here's another preview

Lynn - When I was working, I had to tape all of my 10:00 shows too. I'm glad you're also watching Middleman and In Plain Sight. I really like both of them.

Thanks for posting the Psych and Burn Notice videos--they're great.

They changed the time for Middleman?! I hope it's still on my On Demand....

Those kids sure are growing up fast, they are four already!

The younger kids are four already??! Wow. This is what happens when you watch a lot of reruns. I'm glad to see that Kate and Jon no longer seem like they were headed for Divorce Court. Phew.

BTW, Lynn, is hoapili the right word to use? Or is that for a really close/intimate friend? Just wondering. Don't even know if you speak Hawaiian but I thought I'd ask!

Enjoyed your blog. That Psych Black/White parody is one of the funniest around. I spit everytime it comes on.

I am also "psyched" about Burn Notice's returning. I set TiVO to tape as many episodes as possible. My girl's away for the long weekend and I am all geared up for all the marathons this weekend! *licking lips*

In a few minutes (on the West Coast anyway), the SciFi Channel will begin its Twilight Zone marathon, which runs through 5:00 AM Saturday morning. (It will have already started in the time zones to the east of here.)

Hey there Zia, sorry but I never kept up woth that Great American Band show. I don't even know who won. I think at least they announced a winner, unlike that other show on ABC a few years ago that went about 3 episodes and got cancelled. I hate it when that happens. Yes, there have been a lot of sort of "yucky" acts that went through. How about that guy who put the tube through his nose, out his mouth and drank milk? That was gross!! And I think they put him through!!! Ugh.

Famin, if you watch The Middleman On Demand I'm sure it's there. They show Mean Girls with Lindsey Lohan instead first so it got pushed back two hours.

I'm glad to see that Kate and Jon no longer seem like they were headed for Divorce Court.

I never thought they were headed for Divorce Court but a lot of people have told me that too. During one of the their shows they celebrated Jon's 30th birthday. He's only 30 (well, 30something by now) and he has 8 kids and a wife to support. I think they said he was 22 when the Cara and Maddy were born. I didn't realize they were that young when they became parents.

Well I don't really speak Hawaiian except for the common words, I've been trying to learn, but according to my Hawaiian dictionary Hoapili does mean close/intamate or personal friend.:)

I love that Psyched promo too Phylly and I think they picked the right song for the Burn Notice promo too.

Hi Marcie! It's 5:30 am here now and The Twilight Zone is on. It's going to run all the way to Saturday? Wow. Thanks for the tip.

BTW - there is one more Summertime reality competition show that I forgot to mention. Groomer Has It on Animal Planet!

My sister and I got hooked on it and we were so happy that the judges picked Artist as the winner. Jonathan is a very good groomer and he knows a lot about his animals, Artist has a lot to learn about his business. I think the judges saw something in Artist that they didn't see in Jonathan. And that Jorge cracked us up.

Season two starts next year.
