Pilot News: Castings: Robin Tunney, Ray Romano, Elizabeth Reaser etc.

Hello Folks!

The Hollywood Reporter is in with more castings for the current pilot season:

- Ray Romano is set for the lead in the upcoming TNT drama "Men of a Certain Age". Romano will exec produce together with the show's writer-producer Mike Royce.

"Men" is described as a character-based project that will take a wry look at what it means to be a guy approaching midlife while also exploring the bonds of male friendship, all through the eyes of three college buddies who are in their 40s.

Romano will play Joe (Romano), a friendly, slightly neurotic, divorced father of two who had dreams of being a pro golfer but instead owns and runs a party store. His two best friends are Owen, an overstressed black husband and father who is a car salesman at his dad's dealership, and Terry, an offbeat, handsome, intelligent and still struggling-to-make it actor.

- Ioan Gruffudd ("Fantastic Four") is the male lead opposite Amy Smart in CBS' drama pilot "The Meant To Be's".

"Meant to Be's," from CBS Paramount, is a romantic drama about a dead woman (Smart) sent back to Earth to help people improve their lives. Gruffudd will play her tour guide and mentor.

- Robin Tunney ("Prison Break") has been cast opposite Simon Baker for the female lead in CBS' upcoming drama "The Mentalist".

The Warner Bros. TV-produced "Mentalist" centers on Patrick Jane (Baker), a mentalist who uses his skills of observation to solve crimes as an independent detective working with the police.

Tunney will play career-focused lead agent Teresa Lisbon.


- Elizabeth Reaser ("Grey's Anatomy") will join another CBS drama pilot, "Mythological Ex" as the lead.

"Ex," from 20th TV, is based on an Israeli format. It centers on Annabelle (Reaser), who learns from a psychic that she already has dated the man she's supposed to marry, so she revisits her past relationships in the hopes of finding him.

- Elaine Cassidy, Ryan Merriman and Samantha Noble are set to star in CBS' drama presentation "Harper's Island."

"Island," from CBS Par and director Jon Turteltaub, is a horror story that unfolds over the course of a season as a group of friends meet on an island off the Seattle coast for a destination wedding.

Merriman (CBS' "Comanche Moon") and Australian-born Noble will play the groom and the bride, while the Irish-born Cassidy will play the groom's childhood friend with a tragic past.
